SW Q&A September 15th

How do you feel about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? Depends on what it is. If you feel it's somethng wholly appropriate to me, that's awesome; as are useful things-- stationary, pens, pencils, stickers, magnets, books, pretty stuff, socks, seeds, hairclips... Okay, you know, aside from statuary, I'm having a hard time coming up with decorative only things available in the dollar section, so I think you're good.   Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? Far too many. I'm working on that. Someday, I won't be three years behind on Xanth.   Do you read mangas/watch anime? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive manga or anything related to them? Yesss...Are you ready for the super fabulous, insanely long, holy ,why?! list of doom? (it's okay, I'll do the abridged version)   Manga: Yami no Matuei(aka Descendants of Darkness) Samurai Deeper Kyo Dragon Knights Demon Diary Kuroshitsuji Petshop of Horrors Yumekui Kenbun Karneval Bleach Sailor Moon Caine Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro Pandora Hearts Zombie Loan I'm capping it there, although I'm sure I've missed a ton Anime: Arakawa Under the Bridge(made me laugh so hard; thrilled it's been S2'd) Yami no Matsuei Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro Pandora Hearts Gintama Majutsu no Index Railgun Baccano DRRR!! okay, I'll stop now. But as a side note, Koyasu Takehito and Sugita Tomokazu have fabulous speaking voices.     Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Heck yes! You are the witchee, and anything you pick will lbe fabulous. I love happy surprises.   If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? If you make me somethng it will be awesome and I will love it, and it doesn't matter if you used something on a wishlist for inspiration, or came up with something completely different out of your own genius mind.   OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? I like natural fibers(bamboo socks, woo!), ankle, knee, over the knee, Thigh high(but I have thick thighs, so this doesn't always go well), slouchie. Fun socks are cool, regular socks are cool, the socks that have those arch hugging things are awesome. I'm not being very helpful here, am I?   How do people feel about word magnets? I love them, but have not much space to put them right now.   If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? I have no idea... I'm, umm, kind of curvy, yet for some reason am very attracted to things you might see on a couture runway. Hmm, I guess Victorian modern type things, pretty corsets and foofy gowns, fabrics with beautiful movement. This is a big part of why the steampunk aesthetic is attractive to me, I think. So if I could have any kind of costume stuff, I would like shiny, pretty, faery things. Yes...     How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. That would be awesome. I like to try new things.   What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Or do you just plan on ordering individual items? I'm torn on the Inquisition(seriously, am I the only one who sees Mel Brooks dancing every time that word shows up?), partially because of being broke, and partially because, the idea of bonuses is awesome(white pumpkin, woo!), but I have no bath, and would not use patchouli bath oil if I did. I maybe will get Sluagh and/or an an t-Samhuinn soap. Maybe. But it's fine if I don't, because I have a lot of gorgeous stuff to please my nose with already.

Pokemon!!!!   Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Absolutely!   If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? Yes, that would be great. OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? I love socks where the big toe is separate. I like over the knee socks. I love tie dye. I like stripes and cabling.   How do people feel about word magnets I have a set of LOL Cats ones that I adore.   9/14/10 Chocolate or other types of candy? Yes, please. LOL. I don't like cherry flavouring or coconut, and I'm allergic to almonds. I am a little burned out on dark chocolate. I love love love peppermint bark, but otherwise I don't like white chocolate much.   For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? Either is fine. I drink loose mostly at home, but I do bring bags to work and will bring them more as it gets colder outside.   If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I don't know how I feel about shawls. I have knitted things on my etsy favourites, maybe there is a style there that can be discerned.   Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? I apparently don't watch enough TV to know if I am like anyone on TV.   Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? I could use an apple peeler. I always need things to help me open other things.   Music, DO you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit? Depends. I love good live, but I'm not a fan of live for live's sake.   If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most? I love my dog, but I don't know what she is. St. Bernard mix. My favourite breed is Bernese Mountain Dogs.   Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? I like almost all cut flowers. Schrodinger's Cat, Spinning Multicolored Metallic Pinwheel, Bonfire Night, Dorian, and any of the .goths.     Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that you have some children/spawn (1 or more), and, hypothetically speaking, your witch would like to spoil them a little but knows nothing of kids these days. What do they like or dislike? Also is there anything a (sane) adult might think they would like that you don't think is appropriate for whatever reason? (I'm thinking of things like temp tattoos, make up, things that make noise, or anything else that might be bad for non-obvious reasons.) Bring on the temporary tattoos! LOL The only thing I am weird about is I don't like "superhero" stuff. Nick is really into Avatar the Last Airbender, though. I don't like the character thing in general all that much but I hate the "violence is the best solution to all problems!" mentality of superhero stuff.   Is there anything you would like that can be delivered over the internet? Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that I don't know, specifically, but sure.   What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang) This is so hard. I suppose I would want tiny bites of everything. A little rare steak, a little buttery lobster, a little proscuitto, a little jamon serrano, a little provolone, a little bunch of olives, a couple bites of pasta, a slice of homemade bread, a tiny bit of brie, a sip of tortilla soup, a nibble of prik king, a touch of pad seeu, a bite of allenville corn, a bite of fried potato, a bowl of perfect fruits, a little something chocolate, a bite of tiramisu, and sips of wine to go with everything.   NaNoWriMo? Yes, last year was my first time. It was intense.

Chocolate and fleur de sel caramels are favs. Things I'm not fond of... Skittles, starbursts, gummy bear/worms. For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? I prefer loose, but I drink bagged stuff too. If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Favorite snack: Goji berries( as long as they're good quality soft ones). Dried apple without added sugar. Salted roasted sunflower sees. Medjool dates.   Nail polish: YES! I think The Lab has a dark silver one I'd love. Best colors for me- silver/gray, taupe.   Halloween plans: None this year.   Halloween decorations: Yes, I have a collection that comes out every year. I go for vintage looking Halloween stuff.   Mortar and pestle: I have a very nice suribachi used for miso. That's all i need.   What hobby/craft would you like to learn how to do? My arts/crafts right now are sewing, paper arts. I'd like to get back into knitting and start with small dolls, scarves small projects. Also like to learn the japanese crochet amigurumi. And crocheting with metal wire jewelry. I only know how to do chain stitch in crochet.   Picky about wish list? I hope it really just gives you an idea of what I like.   Do you wear make up? Nope.   If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?) OH BOY WOULD I! I love receiving antique bits and pieces of lace, beads, fabrics.   If you could see one concert right now, who would it be? Chieftans   For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? Tea Bags . I drink Green Tea, Dandelion Tea, Burdock Tea and Roasted Barley Tea. Had to give up coffee.   Chocolate or other types of candy? Ah, I gave up chocolate too. But I do like Ricola Honey Drops, Ricola Elderberry and Ricola Cranberry. Hard to find except on their website.   Also, how do people feel about shawls? LOVE them. Rich earth tones, paisleys. BBQ through 9/14

What interests you from the latest lab update? Everything. Seriously my lust list is so long from the last couple updates it’s obscene! I’m just going to add it to my wishlist, which I promise will be updated by tonight. How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? Love it. I don’t need much in the way of note cards, but I ALWAYS need note pads, sticky notes, things like that. I also adore pens! Usually gel ink and in the funkiest colors I can find. Would you like homemade preserves (e.g. marinated vegies, pickled onions, chilli jam?) Sure. Not a lot, but if you make something you think is a sure winner, I’d love to try it! I am allergic to onion, though. If you've got stuff on your BPAL wishlist, would partial bottles be okay? They are my favorite!!! I love the bottles and artwork, so I really do like them better than imps. Would you like something you have to make yourself? Kits are fun, If you think it’s something I’d like, than I would love to give it a try. Also, if you are a super crafter and think I would like to learn something new I would love a kit that you put together yourself. Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Would you want me to make it? Or would you rather it be purchased for you? Making it yourself makes it better! Anything on my wishlists is just there to show you the types of things I would like and gravitate towards. I never would expect you to purchase something from my wish list specifically. Who is your favorite soap etailer? That is a dangerous question! I love Paintbox’s Sorbetto Scrubs, and I love Villaines Whipped. Those are the two biggies. Generally, I’m not a huge bar soap fan because I’ve never found one that doesn’t dry out my already alligator like skin. I really enjoy the sample size soaps and have 3 or 4 at any given time at all my sinks. It takes me FOREVER to use up a big bar, so the sample sizes are just about right. What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? LOVE! Most of my house is decorated in “vintage” (such a nice euphemism for junk!) I especially like old kitchen gadgets, and red trimmed enamel ware. With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? Whatever you want to do is fine with me! What kind of make-up do you wear? What colors? Is there anything you'd like to try but haven't yet? I used to wear Merle Norman, then my former Witch introduced me to mineral makeup, so I’m just starting to get into that, and I’d always welcome more to try. I have very fair (glow in the dark) skin, and I tend to wear mostly pinks. I do like sparkles, but I’ve got to figure out how to wear them during the day and not look like a 8 year old playing dress up, or a streetwalker starting work early! If it isn’t exactly perfect that is just part of its charm.   Are you a foodie? Yes, in both respects. I will sit and read a cookbook like prisoners read porn, and I also love most foodie scents. Some dark chocolate isn’t good, mint tends to turn to smelly old man on me, and coffee? Ick.   Any sports fans in the house? What's your favorite sport/team/player? I’m the sports junkie! I love Wisconsin Badger Football, Green Bay Packer Football, and NASCAR racing   For holidays, do you decorate? Would you like decorative stuff, weenie or otherwise? If so, do you lean towards the elegant, the crafty/folksy, or the more, erm, campy? I don’t decorate a lot, but I have fall wreaths and candy dishes, that sort of thing. In a week or so I’ll get busy and do an outdoor display with pumpkins and cornstalks and such by the doors.   Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? I have not really started exploring many other perfume etailers, and I bet there are some out there that I would love! I suspect many of Possetts blends that have notes I like would be big hits with me.     If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Nope, I hardly have time to watch regular TV Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them? Halloweenie SW Questions - 9/13 to 9/14/10

Chocolate or other types of candy?   There are all kinds of candy that I love but can't currently eat due to braces. Pretty much anything gummy / caramel, sticky (jelly beans, red vines) or crunchy (toffee *sob*) is out. Chocolate is pretty safe, but I also adore Reese's Pieces and York Patties.   For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags?   Either! I do loose often at home, tea bags when I'm lazy or at work.   If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Also, how do people feel about shawls?   I have about 1 bazillion pairs of handknit socks (literally over 100, I'm pretty sure). However, if you knit socks and want to knit me some, FEEL FREE! I rarely wear hats, and I've knit a few myself so I'm pretty much set there. Scarves are fine, I have a few but it's nice to switch them out. I'm a bit hesitant about shawls. I'm knitting my first two - one is a shawlette, and I'm planning to wear it more like a scarf, the other was just because I took Jared Flood's class and had to knit Girasole. I stayed in a hotel with my friend which was lovely, and we knit, spin, and bought yarn all weekend. But it's not all that far from home, just about an hour south. I really liked not having to do any of my normal home stuff, I guess.   Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them?   Yes!   Do you hate any food things with a passion??   Meat, but I think that's covered by the vegetarian thing. Lima beans, but they're an unlikely witch gift. 9/17/10 Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd's that you've been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?? No problem with gently used DVD's. Defying Gravity would be awesome, and/or Pushing Daisies. Thought of some other ones - not officially out on DVD yet, so would have to be homemade/recorded. I have been searching & waiting for years for DVD's of The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne, and Brimstone. Also the animated series of both Beetlejuice and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! Next to impossible, but I decided to throw it in here just in case...   Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after? PumPom. The Girls Love Ginger. Void Moon. Temptation - getting sucked into other retailers with all the cool links in the massive thread o' doom. Looked at Good Judy for just a minute, now I want all the American Gothic scents. Drat.   Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?) I've always thought the modded My Little Ponies were cool. I don't do a lot of decorating. I end up moving so often that holiday decorations are one of the first things that get packed off to Goodwill. Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? Augh! More Questions!

A few other relevant questions (from the Master SW Question list courtesy of the lovely lioness)   Chocolate or other types of candy? Chocolate is my favorite, as you already know from my questionnaire, but I also love caramels, Laffy Taffy, Red Vines, Swedish Fish and anything soft and fruity tasting.   If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I love both scarves and shawls. During the dark days of a Chicago winter it's possible to wear 10 at a time and still feel a bit chilly.   Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? Supposedly I look like Agent Scully from the X-Files and Anne of Green Gables. I don't see the resemblance in either case other than paleness and reddish hair.   Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? I keep forgetting to pick up a pastry brush and a pastry cutter. Both of these would have come in handy this past weekend while I was in a baking frenzy.   Music, DO you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit? I prefer live concerts, especially classical or jazz. Neither of them ever need to be edited. For recorded music, I like either (depends on the piece) and hate editing. I'm Irish, have five brothers and come from a quasi-Navy family so I've heard it all.   Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? I love tulips and would put in some bulbs this fall if my neighbor's annoying dog wouldn't dig them up. I like to keep an aloe plant or two (or more) around the house at all times.   what interests you from the latest lab update? I've ordered lots of decants as well as unsniffed bottles of Blue Pumpkin Floss and Pumpkin Latte. I need to add Ginger Skulls, Sugar Skull, The Infernal Lover and Unsteady Governess to my list of wants based on reviews.
