13 Nights of Halloween 2014 questions and answers

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I would have no use for yarn, but I always appreciate getting handmade things!   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? Both, and I shower and bathe about equally.   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? Hmmm, since it’s that time of year, I guess that I don’t really like the smell of pumpkin.   Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I’m not following quite as closely now as I did in the past, but Pet Shop of Horrors, Library Wars, Black Butler, Hellsing, Real Ghostbusters, and Supernatural. Right now my fannish attentions are more devoted to delving into old movies (silent era through the 1940’s, but particularly the 1930’s and pre-Code stuff). I’m especially interested in movies featuring George Raft or Warren William.   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) Yes, I have a wax burner, but I almost never use it. I prefer candles.   Would you like loose, fancy tea? Sure!   Incense, y/n? Maybe? I already have a lot, and I rarely burn it. Maybe something spicy or strongly vanilla-y?   What is your favorite fall activity? I don’t really have a favorite fall activity, but I enjoy going apple picking with my family, watching horror movies, enjoying all the Halloween decorations and the cooler weather, and browsing through all the cool Halloween stuff that shows up in all the stores.   I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Ohhh, just about anything! I do have a Japanese grocery near me, so I probably don’t need any food items (except vanilla pocky! they’re not carrying it anymore, and it was yummy!). Other than food, though, pretty much anything from Japan would be super exciting! I have a small maneki neko collection, so a new maneki neko to add to it would be lovely. I love a lot of anime and manga, so anything from one of my favourites (Library Wars, Pet Shop of Horrors, Hellsing, Black Butler, Ouran High School Host Club, Maid Sama!) would be great too.   Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I love chainmaille, or a simple Halloween-themed pendant would be nice.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? Hot chocolate definitely yes; I don’t know about malt drinks, but I’d be willing to give it a try!   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? I’d be fine with having multiples spread out over a couple of days. Really, whatever works best for you is fine with me!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? I was much more attracted to the Halloween aspect and not really into the day themeing, but if you find something for a theme day that you think would be up my alley, then bring it on!   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Sure! I’d totally be up for some horror movies (just no torture porn type stuff or demonic possessions, please)! I’ve also gotten into old movies lately – mostly from the mid-1930’s back to the silent era. If you know of any really good ones, I’d love to check them out!   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? Either way! Favorite Halloween anthologies and spooky stories would be great!   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? I’m totally flexible either way, so I’ll leave it up to you!   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Yes to both!   There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts,etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I work from home, so I don’t have to worry about suitability.   I'm going to Rose City Comic Con during the shopping window. Any exhibitors/vendors/comics/etc. you're particularly interested in? OMG THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A GOONIES "NEVER SAY DIE" T-SHIRT! I AM TOTALLY GETTING THAT! Ahem. Yes. I mean... There are things! Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? Nothing really caught my eye, but if you see anything while you’re there that looks like my type of thing, I’m totally open to being surprised!   Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? Sure! Prettily decorated skulls and skeleton figures are pretty much always cool.   Does anything from this shop catch your eye? Black Cat bubbling scrub; Marshmallow Woods bubbling scrub or whipped soap samples; Mad Hatter Tea Cakes bubbling scrub; Chocolate Orange Truffle lip balm; Pumpkin Cupcakes lip balm; Cherry Limeade lip balm; Lime Sugar lip balm; Lemon Drop lip balm; and Cotton Candy lip balm.   Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? Very strong aversion to scorpions, cockroaches, centipedes, and earwigs. Honeybees and bumblebees are wonderful, but I really dislike/find scary pretty much every other stinging insect (wasps, hornets, yellowjackets, etc.).   How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? I love the idea, but I almost never use jam or jelly, and I’m terribly particular about pickles, so I’m afraid it would be wasted on me. Canned fruits would be about the only canned thing I would probably eat.   Do you have a favourite colour scheme? I like red with black, and sometimes lime green and magenta. Purple/blue/green and red/orange/yellow combos are generally nice, too.   How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I always welcome more stickers and stationery!   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? I would absolutely LOVE crafted critters!!! I really don’t need another scarf, but if you made me one with a Halloweenie motif/border (especially bats) I would totally wear it so much!   What makes you feel pampered? My favourite (and most frequent) self-pamper is actually to sleep in late or nap during the day. Other things that would make me feel pampered would be a manicure, going out to eat, Fannie May chocolate, and getting a new book or DVD, or something cool from Etsy, or a new nail polish, makeup item, or bar of scented soap. My wild pie-in-the-sky fantasies of pampering include someone cooking for me, mowing the lawn, and cleaning the house while I read a book, watch a movie, or cross-stitch. New Question! We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? Gerbils, bats, bunnies, and mice are my favourites, but I like most small to medium size furry critters in general, from kangeroo rats to squirrels to oppossums and skunks to raccoons. I also really like honeybees and bumblebees. Bird-wise, I like owls and sea gulls best. I also like lake and sea monsters.     A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye? Mandinka hot process soap or sorbetto sample; Punkie Night hot process soap or sorbetto sample; Gingermilk sorbetto sample.   Is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? I love maple sugar candy and Aero bars!   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) I wouldn’t mind trying the Refresh Mint, organic Earl Grey Blanc, or Passion.   How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) I haven’t been in a Teavana store since my friend and I had to slink out in shame upon reaching the register (after waiting forever in a huge line) and discovering that you couldn’t buy just one ounce of tea at a time like you can at other tea stores – so sadly, no Monkey Picked Oolong for my friend, who only wanted one ounce, no more. But I took a look at their website, and I’d love to try the Dragonfruit Devotion herbal or the Marshmallow Macaron herbal. I wouldn’t mind trying the Snow Geisha white, Moroccan Mint green, Samurai chai mate, or Limeade Twist herbal either.   How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? No thank you, I don't drink coffee.   How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? No thanks!   Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? Nope.   Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? I’m kind of way overstocked on both already.   Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? No thanks.   Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? The Teavana rock sugar would be lovely.   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? I'm fine with gently used, but if it requires two players, I'd probably hardly ever get to use it, unfortunately. Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? Yay! I’ll try pretty much anything alcoholic once. My favorites tend to be flavored vodkas, craft beers (especially porters or stouts), and wine.   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? Ummm, sure? The regular stuff is good once in a while. If it’s the caramel apple candy corn, then YAY!   New Question! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. I couldn’t really think of anything until I read Usagi’s answer – definitely no taxidermy for me either, please!   I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container,never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? I'm totally ok with that!   Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? It's been a while since I've been to the one in my area, but it looks like it's about time for me to go back! Yay for Halloween stuff! I particularly like the cats & bats gel clings, the Gingerdead Man cookie cutter, the bleeding taper and pillar candles, and the vintage postcard Halloween wood clips.   Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? Not really. I barely use any in the first place, and despite that, my utensil drawer is crammed full. I don't know that I have room for anything else!   Dearest Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other? Hmmmm, probably a bit heavier on the non-edible items, but of course the final decision is yours! I'm sure I'll be happy either way!   Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you? I try not to feel guilty about any of my pleasures, but I do feel a tinge of embarrassment sometimes about all the fanfiction I read. Oh, and it's also rather embarrassing to have to go into the Teen room at the library to get the manga books I love to read, so I guess I should feel guilty about reading things intended for people much younger than I am. I suppose the same should be true about going to concerts where much of the crowd is at least 20 years younger than me, but hey, I like what I like. Still, there's nothing quite like being nearly 40 and listening to the girl next to you lament to her friend that she was getting sooooo old, since she'd be turning 19 soon! Or having the people in line behind you get all excited by the fact that you're actually old enough to get a wristband and be able to buy alcohol inside!!!     Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I like them, but already have a bunch that I never end up wearing.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? I have long hair right now, but getting a hair cut soon is high of my list of priorities. Once I finally get it done, it will probably be just below my chin. The only hair accessories I use are the elastic bands to put it in a ponytail, and I already have more of those than I need. My hair is too fine for pretty much anything else - pins, barrettes, etc., just slide right out.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves? Autumn themed soap would be nice, especially something autumn themed that includes a tried and true note like cinnamon or clove.   Is there something that catches your eye from this shop? If you like something, but are opposed to the colors, or like a piece of something, like a piece in general if it were bigger/smaller etc. please don't hesitate to say so. I think my favorite design shape-wise is the Swirls, but I'd prefer it with more less blue and more gold. I also like the Dot and Drape designs, and the Triple Bar bracelet in the blue and gold coloring of the Single Bar bracelet that's pictured would be fantastic. They're all very impressive, though!   If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you want some dehydrated apple rings??? Sure!

I would totally hide around corners and shoot peope with it. I love doing silly things like that.

a clown, but one who works the side of the rings, not a main ring performer. I like to be funny and make people laugh, but I don't always like to be the focal point of the situation. Plus, I could hide behind the clown makeup, since I am sometime ashamed of what I look like.

- What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with? vampires

- Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. What do you choose? My smartphone, with recorded messages and videos and pics of things , people and places that I loved, my iPod, tons of regular pictures of my family and my life.

- Do you need storage boxes? not really, but if my witch wanted to make me one, I would love it!

- The world has given you the day off. You hear that, no chores, responsibilities, or budget you have to follow. What would you do in those 24 hours? honestly, sleep. Maybe buy lots of frivilous things, redecorate my house.

- Do you like steampunk & if so what kind of steampunk item would you most like to receive? yes, i love steampunk. I would love to have supplies to incorporate into my steampunk inspired jewelry.

I do really seriously dislike anise notes in tea, though - but otherwise, most fruity or slightly floral blends are good. My current fav is from DryadTea on etsy (I have a big stash of it!) is her Persephone blend, which is black tea with notes of vanilla, pomegranate and rose (reminded me of BPAL Persephone oil) - but I also love my Adagio green tea chocolate mint tea bags! So I'm all over the place with office teas!" ---------------- "Pumpkin: I am generally not a fan of anything flavored/scented with "pumpkin" That said, *some* pumpkin baked goods are very tasty, but I have to be in a very particular mood, and am still not over fond of them - I'd rather have apple spice baked goods than pumpkin spice. My idea of decorating with pumpkins might be, if I found a really funky looking, interesting colored, real gourd... but nothing "in the shape/style/look" of a pumpkin. I tend not to be a fan of anything scented particularly foodie, though, as well. I used to have this caramel corn lotion back when I first moved to NYC that I loved, and then one day, I took my a.m. break to the ladies' and caught a whiff of myself and was really hungry and knew it was over 2 hours til lunch break - since them, I just can't handle foodie scents - and I tend to find foodie candles too cloying. My favs are natural, no artificial scent added, beeswax. ---------------- "Re: Companies I avoid - I try and stay away from most big industrial mega-corp companies as much as possible. If someone shared their favorite small etsy crafter something with me that I'd never heard of before, that'd be preferable to anything from Bath & Body Works (even though I like their co-opted C.O. Bigelow line). " ------------------ Re: Cooking/Kitchen: I am an avid cook - I love to cook and bake (and cocktail!)! - and yes, kitchen fun would be appreciated! My kitchen isn't very big, and I don't have a lot of space, but it's still one of my favorite places to be, and as it starts to get cooler, I'll be more willing to spend more time over a hot oven (and as it gets COLD, I'll be spending as much time as possible over a hot oven). - I should make sure to add kitchen stuff to my wishlists linked in my blog ... little things that I just never manage to pick up (like a knife honer/sharpener... )   ---------------------------   Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing? Also, I find doll-stuff creepy as hell. For example: I find pure wool, especially felted wool, itchy as hell and it drives me mad if it's against my skin, but I don't have the same problem with merino or cashmere, or blended fabrics that are only part wool. I've been given stuff like that, I never use it. Not into kawaii/anime/manga/cutesy. I do like odd bits, but I guess I would go call them elegant, eclectic, nature-oriented, and what I call "elfy" - or sometime fairy - but NOT tinkerbell kinda fairy, like Celtic mythology fae - more elves of Middle Earth, and things you'd find in an Irish goblin market than Disney in style. I would like some long arm warmers. I've been marking lots of them on etsy and sock dreams to serve as a stylistic range/guide. I'm always so cold in fall/winter, and I have to be very particular about gloves because of my Reynaud's, so getting me gloves is rather moot, because the only gloves I've ever found that work for me are fur-lined leather (expensive!); but my gloves can go over/under any number of arm warmers layered over thermals and other sleeves.   ------------------ Tarot cards/rune stones: No for me, I have the Stephanie Pui-Mun Law deck, and it's lovely, but haven't taken it out of its bag in a few years. I like knit stuff. I prefer natural fibers, love those multicolored recycled sari yarns! Also, I love red, but I seem to already have a LOT of red.. not a lot of greens/browns.. some blues, more teals though than really great true blue, or a fav color is kind of gunmetal blue? it's half way between royal blue and navy, but with a dose of grey to tone down the saturation. Hex color code: #545E9C is pretty close.   Incense: no. I have lots of scent allergies (BPAL was the first smelly stuff I could use without rash or sneezing)   Raw Milk: Fine by me! I'd drink unpasteurized milk straight if I could find it!   Spices: I have a pretty well stocked spice cabinet - but if you know some place that has good quality neat stuff, or hard to find/exotic spices, I'd be interested!   Stationary: I don't really use stationary, but a quill pen might be cool. I borrowed some calligraphy nibs from a friend for an art project, thought they were kinda cool...   ---------------------------------------   I like apple things - not so much for decorating, but I like the smell of apple (not too much cinnamon), and I like apple flavored things, especially baked goods (can have cinnamon). LUSH - I like a lot of their bath stuff, I can't do their bar soap, though. Most of the bubble bars, bath bombs and bath melts are all big hits with me. Favs are You've Been Mangoed, The Comforter, and Amandapondo - and I haven't tried any of the new bath macaroons, but they all look good! Space girl, blackberry, and butterball are my fav bombs. Though, I'm up to trying new stuff! It's been ages since I've been in a LUSH. You snap the whip is also a repeat fav, though I normally use it in summer after gardening, so that season's just about over. And if there's anything you adore in the body care/foot care line, I'm always curious! *Snacks/Candies from other countries/states - if it's something really local that I wouldn't have had or find in NYC, I'd love to try something really different, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head as far as foreign stuff goes. I know every spring I try and run down sakura flavored stuff (with minimal success), but wrong season... as stated above, not a huge fan of candies. I do like snackies, I keep a graze box subscription because I get snacky at the office, and I like having a little assortment of crackers, nuts, dried fruits, and surprising whatevers to snack on in small quantities. *Canned Goods - my Mom keeps us pretty well stocked in canned goods, honestly. I don't normally eat salsa. I do like homemade dill pickles (not sweet or spicy), and homemade jams. I have 2 kabuki brushes, one retractable and one just regular, and they're both so ratty and old that I have to pick hairs off my face when I'm done. This is a brilliant question that I never would have thought about! For PJ pants, do you like cotton or flannel?   My Mom buys me new pajamas every year as a Christmas tradition, so I am awash in pajamas already. I think it's been answered, can't remember, but in general (in case of other issues) I generally take a Small in the bottoms and an XS in the top. At night, Olay reginerist wash with the tiny beads, and Roc night moisurizer with Retin-A. Periodic use of various masks for cleansing, toning, firming, soothing for sensitive skin... I do love to pamper myself with a really nice face mask now and again. No toners. I use serums and eye creams when I get free samples, don't know enough/haven't found the right one to really warrant the expense. I love body moisturizers of all sorts, but am also swimming in them! And, yes, I love lippies. I had an insane amount of them, but as they're always disappearing into various pockets, coats and purses, and it's not like they're normally very expensive, I use that as justification to keep getting more... I LOVE Haunt's Lip lusts, and House of Gloi's.   --------------------------------------------------------------   Spiders (as in cute knit kind) yes or no? no - I'm better about my arachnophobia these days, but best avoid all spider-y things, even "cute" ones. Any kind of bags - big, small, medium, purse, grocery, etc? Weenie Switch Witch - 2014 Help!

Switch Witch Help, 2014 edition!   My past help blogs are still up, but keep in mind stuff might have changed - I'm still in the middle of some pretty major life changes, and it's changed my outlook on some stuff, and my priorities and whatnot. Gaming accessories you long for?   We've been known to play some games, we like 7 Wonders, Munchkin, that kind of stuff. We've been longing for Small World (I want the Underworld edition (I think that's what it's called, anyway). Accessories? Boxes to hold loose cards would be good, we have a bunch of card type games we've lost (or the dog we used to have ate) the original boxes for. - DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands?   I'd LOVE the Harry Potter collection of movies. I also have a bunch of Disney movies on my amazon list, I'd love a collection to show to my daughter when she's a little older! Hi, Witch! The questionnaire said we should not include wish list links in it due to issues with links not translating, so I'm going to put them here, followed by answers to questions posted in the thread, so everything will be in one convenient spot.   Wish lists: BPAL BPTP Amazon Etsy (probably not super up-to-date, but useful for ideas maybe) Pinterest wish list board   Q&A   1. I wonder what a potential witchee would think about being bombarded with PUMPKINS in various formats. Because my current obsession just may last long enough to be of use in spoiling.....but I know wouldn't be appreciated by everyone. Would you appreciate it?!?   I pumpkin in all forms.   2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).   Sure! That would be awesome.   3. Trading Post wants?   I love the Miskatonic U candle. Right now, waiting for Halloweenie update!   4. What direct sellers do you not like and would prefer not to get things from? And also feel free to list any retail brands you really don't like.   Not crazy about Mary Kay or Avon, or any food company.   5. How about y'alls coffee and tea preferences?   I love coffee and tea. I am anti-Keurig.   6. Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy?   Not much. My hubby does most of the cooking. I bake (cookies, banana bread, that sort of thing) and have a few dishes that I'm very good at making.   THAT SAID... my mom just bought us a food dehydrator, so I'm interested in learning about drying stuff.   7. How do people feel about creative endeavours? Would you like to receive one? Or supplies to make your own? What do you like? Drawings, stories, poems?   Of course! I would love any sort of creative endeavor my witch sent.   8. What culture or country (doesnt have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you?   I love Italy. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there (and he'd visited before). We weren't in an especially touristy area, and we really loved the lifestyle. Lots of small local shops, lots of walking and taking trains. We love the old buildings too (whereas here people seem to have this throwaway attitude; things aren't built to last). It was wonderful.   9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)?   I would love to have my cat, Simon, in a format suitable for a tattoo.   10. What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests?   Reading and gaming are my primary downtime activities (and I read A LOT). Currently, I'm way into Final Fantasy XIV, gaming-wise. I like yoga. Sometimes I like making jewelry. I used to go to the gym (our local YMCA) a lot, but due to finances this year, I don't have a current membership. I hope I can renew soon.   11. Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for?   I desperately wish we had a local D&D group. Right now we don't, so we don't have anything.   12. DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands? Can they be used, through Amazon?   We have blu-ray, and also an Apple TV. Used is just fine. Movie wishes: anything Alfred Hitchcock, Beauty and the Beast (Disney), The Cat Returns (anime), The Wind Rises (anime), Howl's Moving Castle (anime).   13. What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try?   I'm open to anything that fits within my likes/dislikes from questionnaire. Other info that I forgot to include: I don't like marzipan, and I only like coconut in savory things (like curry) or those little doughnuts with toasted coconut on top. I really don't like, for example, Mounds-style candies.   14. Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom?   I don't think I could pick a favorite fandom if I tried!   15. Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? Anybody interested in something from RCCC, whether it's con-exclusive merch or from a particular exhibitor or artist?   Nothing specific, but if my witch saw something she thought I'd like, go for it!   17. How important to you is regular contact / chatter with your witch?   I like to be in contact with my witch, and chattiness is great! But I also understand that my witch could be busy, shy, etc. so if you get me and that's you don't feel pressured! If you *are* chatty, by all means, email away.   18. Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing?   Yes!   19. If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions?   I've digitized pretty much all my music at this point, but if my witch sent a CD, I could always rip it, so no big deal.   20. Whats a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you havent had time to address it?   I'd have to think about this one. Nothing comes immediately to mind.   21. How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? i.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin   That would be cool.   22. Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason bad associations?   Nothing that I can think of that a witch would remotely send.   23. For the vegetarians and vegans: How do you feel about things (say, marshmallows or gummy candy) made with vegan gelatin or other typically-animal-derived-but-not-in-this-instance products?   NA for me, but I now that you mention gummies... I love Haribo gummy bears. I understand that they have other gummies too, but the traditional bears are the only ones we can get in our area.   24. Ok, so we've covered pumpkin. How do you feel about the other fall classic – apples?   Personally, I love them. I may have more apple scents than pumpkin ones, in fact, and of course, yum! Apples, apple cider, apple pie (not that a pie would ship well!)... On the other hand, I'm not fond of "green apple" flavored things (think: Skittles, Jolly Rancher, etc.), although I love actual Granny Smiths. Favorite apple: winesap.   25. Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like?   Yes. I'll have to come back to this. I'm pretty adventurous. (I don't know if I'd eat a chocolate covered scorpion, though.)   50. This has kind of been covered, but, are you ok with receiving canned jam (from a veteran jammer!) and if so, what flavors would you like and not like?   Sure. Things I wouldn't like: carrot, celery (not sure if either of those would even be an option), pineapple. Something I would love: some kind of yummy tomato jam, strawberry jalapeno jam (someone made some this summer and it was crazy good), something along the lines of a blackberry ginger jam. My routine: In the morning: I typically use a gentle scrub (my new fave is the upcoming Paintbox one for sensitive/dry skin, although I'm out of my sample and right now using the St. Ives apricot kind) with my Clarisonic. Then a Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel pad, followed by Urban Decay b6 prep spray, Clinque Laser Focus, Laser Focus eye cream, Josie Maran Argan Milk, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense, Urban Decay Illuminating beauty balm, and foundation primer (still trying to pick a favorite; I have like three deluxe-size samples I keep waffling between). Then makeup. At night: I use an oil-based cleanser (usually Josie Maran argan oil cleanser, but right now I have some of the Julep kind) and Burt's Bees peach makeup remover cloths (helps with eye makeup), then moisturize.   I realize this is a lot of crap. I might be a tiny bit obsessive on this point.   86. 13 Days 2014 questions

Fandoms: Harry Potter, Dr. Who, Rick Riordan's Olympus books (not quite as much with the Egyptian ones), Firefly, to an extent World of Warcraft. Oh, and I adore Minions and Minion Mashups (I have a Firefly, a Star Wars, and The Minions have the Tardis on t-shirts already) , old school Final Fantasy stuff (like pre FFX) Fandoms in which I have *no* interest: MLP, Supernatural, Walking Dead, True Blood, Frozen Wax/oil burner — I have…3 wax warmers? So stuff for them would be welcome…more on the clean/woodsy/citrusy spectrums of things, please. I live with very picky noses. Loose fancy tea: Always. I love most tea, flavored or otherwise; black teas are favorites, oolong, green, white, and herbals are also loved. I'm not a fan of rooibos, and I don't care for anise/licorice flavors in tea. I'm also totally happy with tea bags since they're really handy for work. Incense: Sadly no, the sensitive noses again. I have to sit outside and burn incense on the back patio if I want to use it, so needless to say, I don't do this often. Autumn activities: Garden harvesting and cleanup, spending early mornings outside with a hot drink and a shawl, going to hike up in the park when the elk come down and the leaves start turning, drinking an ungodly amount of fresh cider, carving a pumpkin. New Question! I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? I love pretty stationery. I tend to lean toward minimalist and elegant when it comes to designs, but something small and cute would be awesome, too.   New Question: Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I am open to most anything, just no superlong stuff. I think a 24" chain is as long as I would want, otherwise I get hung up on stuff. I mostly wear silver tones, but I also like copper, occasionally some brass or mixed metals. I wear earrings, bracelets, and anklets as well. Oh, I could actually use a cool lanyard since I have an ID badge around my neck for work and right now it's on a boring old company lanyard. New question: What about hot chocolate/malted drinks like ovaltine? Never actually had Ovaltine, but I like chocolate malts and malt balls, so I imagine I'd enjoy it. I do like hot chocolate.   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? Whatever works best for my swapper!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? Entirely up to my dear swapper. If you think something sounds fun to do, go for it, I'm sure I'll get a kick out of it, too.   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Sure, but I'd have no idea what. I will say I don't like horror at all. I don't mind suspense, or classically bad cheese like Army of Darkness, but normal horror ends up either boring or sickening in my experience.   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? As with movies, nothing too horrific. I can handle a little dark and creepy…for example a couple vampire books I love: Let the Right One In and Robin McKinley's Sunshine. Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? All numbered, some numbered, some free day, all free day, whatever you'd like to do. Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Solid perfume sounds fun in theory—I wanted to buy one of the Pink Sand scent balms from Paintbox this summer, but I was too slow. I like the idea of lightly scented balms I can use on my nails/cuticles because everything cracks in the cooler weather. Lip balms are awesome and always welcome. I have no fewer than 3 in rotation at a time. There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts,etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I don't know about specifically halloween themed since that limits wearability (I do have a nifty t-shirt I was given last year decorated with a skull entirely made of sewing notions—safety pins and thread bobbins, and that's kind of awesome). In general I would prefer something that could be worn all season, fall-themed, or I dunno, something with a raven on it, stuff like that. I'm a college student and my job is super casual, so as long as there's no profanity on anything, it's all good.   I'm going to Rose City Comic Con during the shopping window. Any exhibitors/vendors/comics/etc. you're particularly interested in? No flipping clue, but it sounds awesome. I like small bits of things a lot—postcard sized prints, buttons I can stick on my backpack, stuff like that. Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos stuff: Love it. I like savoring occasional indulgent things (I can make a really good chocolate bar last for a week, and I'm known to eat desserts in mousebites). I love making a cup of really nice loose leaf tea on a chilly day and taking it outside in the garden while wearing my baby alpaca lace shawl, that to me is totally self-pampering: nice soft fuzzy stuff, delicious tea... I do actually like normal candy corn, I just have to figure out how to humidify it out here in the high plains.     Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. anything particularly gory.     I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container,never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? Totally cool with that.   For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have no allergies, but scratchy stuff near the skin is not my best plan, I will scratch the hell out of myself if even a clothing tag makes me itch.

13 Nights of Halloween 2014

A roundup of the in-thread questions with answers!   Fandoms. I have many. A partial list:       I'm constantly looking for another universe to fall into, especially if the entire series is on Netflix Instant. Caveat: I feel like the only person in the world utterly uninterested in Sailor Moon, Lord of the Rings, or My Little Pony. ETA: Or Nightmare Before Christmas. I *knew* I was forgetting something crucial for this swap. It's *okay*, and I feel like I *should* like it because the director lives here (or at least he did around the time he made Coraline because this is where Laika lives), but it just doesn't grab me as a must-see Halloween movie like Donnie Darko does.   Wax/oil burner — Yes! I have one! It’s *adorable*! A mama turtle with a baby turtle on her back! The baby turtle is a LID so I can COVER THE MELTED WAX so curious kitties don't dip their paws in it!   Loose fancy tea: Ooh, yes! I used to live in Seattle and developed a severe fondness for Dammann Freres (ugh, SO EXPENSIVE) Jardin Bleu and Earl Grey Gout Russe, and I haven't found anything close to those two flavors. I love berry-scented black and Earl Grey variations! And Adagio! I used to get their Forest Berries and Cream teas and mix them together for iced tea. I haven't thought about that in ages! I got an Earl Grey Cream from somewhere that was fantastic, but I can't remember where. If decaf is an option, I do prefer that so I can drink it later in the day! So... Uh. Yeah. Love tea!   Incense: Love it. Always forget how much I love it until I stumble across the remains of a long-forgotten pack that has lost its scent! I think my only limit is no resin incense, only because I don't have a resin burner.   Autumn activities: Um... Cleaning my apartment because it's finally not a steambox and changing my makeup rotation box to earthier colors? Does that count? I love holing up for the weekend with tea and books. Month-of-October festivities always mean even more horror movies than usual. I used to go to San Francisco for a long weekend at the beginning of November to rest up for the rest of the year when I had a job with a nasty year-end crunchtime, but I don't work there anymore, so I haven't gone to SF since, like, 2007. It's funny how much I love autumn but don't really have any rituals to celebrate the season other than breaking out the Weenies (once that year's update hits) and Yules (after Dia de los Muertos)!   New Question! I'm also realizing I'm a huge science fiction fan but never quite realized it until recently. Not sure how I missed *that* all these years! I also love good mysteries and thrillers. I'm *not* a romcom fan *at all*. Comedies are okay, but they're not my go-to like horror (honestly, I think the reason I like Halloween so much is because it gives me a reason to binge on horror flicks). (I do prefer plot in my horror movie, though. A splatterfest with no story is just a boring special effects reel as far as I'm concerned.)   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? When it comes to big-name authors (Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman, Neal Stephenson, Chelsea Cain, Stephen King, Joe Hill, Philip K. Dick, probably more I can't think of off the top of my head, but, basically, the heavy hitters), please stick to my wishlist because I do have some of their work (in some cases, more than others!). They're lovely!   Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Not particularly. I tend to go for browns and greens for my living room since the carpet and walls are brown (brown + green = trees!), but when it comes to everything else, I think my preferred color schemes are Bollywood combinations. Aqua and purple, tangerine and fuchsia (I normally hate orange, but in combination with something like fuchsia, it's great), tangerine and aqua, purple and green, etc. I also tend to gravitate towards hot pink and fuchsia for some reason.   How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I tend to lose those sorts of things, although if it was a neat waterproof sticker, I could put it on my waterbottle!   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? A random thing that I used to get *every single time* I went to BC: There was this popcorn place called, uh, Kernels, maybe, in Eaton Centre (I think), and they had this butter toffee popcorn that was *amazing*. For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? No, thank you. And all of the variations, and those pumpkin things, too, and that mix with candy corn/pumpkins/etc. I always forget how much I love this stuff until I get a bag and discover it mysteriously empty a short time later! (Weird candy corn product I found last year that I’m going to have to recreate on my own if I can’t find it pre-mixed: Salted peanuts and candy corn. I love that salt-and-sweet combination.) And candy corn scented/flavored stuff, like shower gel/lotion or lip balm? LOVE.   New Question! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. Hmm... Wool or scratchy fibers! I'm allergic to wool, and I just DO NOT LIKE scratchy! Also itty bitty decorative confetti-type or glitter things as part of the packaging. My kitties tend to "help" me unwrap my packages, and they have been known to chew on the packing materials. I love glitter in my makeup. I do not like it in my kitties!   does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? Cost Plus is one of my big danger stores, so I haven't gone there in a while just because I'm scared of how much money I will spend there. After a quick glance through their website EEE! I have a huge *want*, though!   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I could have sworn I already answered this one. Love them! Target used to put some out in the men's section every Halloween, and I would buy them in pretty much every design, but they haven't had any in several years. If I'm at home, I'm usually wearing them (even though they're, like, ten years old!). Knit ones are best, in men's XL.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? Medium-long? It's down past my shoulders and almost to my bra band, and it's getting longer due to my apathy towards haircuts. I tend to put it up in an elastic ribbon hairtie that I make (one part twistbands are ridiculously expensive for what they are, one part they're too small for my mass of hair anyway, but I would love other accessories for putting it up, like hair sticks/forks or something to cover a knot/bun.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves? I tend to go for fruity hand soaps, preferably apple or pear when it comes to autumnal scents. I sleep with my hands next to my face, and I get strangely weirded out if my hands don't smell like fruit! (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? I'm ok with decanted pigments, but I'm a strictly neutral girl.   For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have no allergies that I'm aware of, but I do live in Houston where it gets below 50 for like 2 weeks a year.   And now, a new question: to sort of piggy-back onto the question about small kitchen items, do you like to bake or cook, and if yes, are there any special ingredients, spices, or decorations for baked goods (like sprinkles in seasonal shapes or those decorative picks you put on top of cupcakes, for instance) that you would like? What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things?   Handmade anything is awesome and love and fabulous. But despite many many attempts at yarncraft I have come to the conclusion that I shall never be adept at things involving anything larger than an embroidery needle and floss.   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower?   I can do either with pretty much anything. Incense, y/n?   Oil/Wax/Incense/Candles:Scented candles in nommy autumnal scents are cool, no incense, wax melts/tarts or burning oils, please.   Would you like loose, fancy tea?   All the chocolatey, autumnal flavored tea.I also love a good Earl Gray.   What is your favorite fall activity?   Favorite activities - I have to go to a pumpkin patch with the kids. And then we have to carve crazy-ass jack o lanterns. October is probably my favorite month of the year - the weather here is fabulous - cool and crisp, but not cold yet. I love having whatever giant creature my husband and son come up with in our yard, and our skelemingos and other silly-creepy things. I love prepping for our Halloween party and then Halloween itself - filling the big candy bowl and getting the first wee trick-or-treaters...I really can't pick just one thing, but if I absolutely had to, it would probably be the pumpkin patch.   I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want?   Cute Halloweenie Sanrio stuffs would be fun, or other similar items. Probably not much in the way of sweets or snacks.   Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear?   What I really seriously kind of sort of need, to the extent that it is possible for me to actually *need* jewelry at this point in my life, is a bracelet in purples/blues. I particularly like loose bracelets with a single charm. I don't like what I think of as hippy-quasi-Indian flowery fittings between beeds. I would also love Halloweenie themed bracelets or earrings (I have a necklace that I love and can only wear this time of year already).   In terms of necklaces, something purple and/or red would be cool. I have a lot of blues and plain silver and oranges and even a couple of green tone ones, but purple in particular is missing, despite being my favorite color. I have been particularly drawn to long drapey multi-strand things lately, but really, I just love big bold colorful statement jewelry that leans modern (as opposed to Victorian or hippy costume beads), although I also love art deco/nouveau.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks?   I kind of have more hot chocolate than I will ever be able to use and most of the time I am too lazy to actually heat milk, etc unless I'm making Hershey's for the kids. That said, if you have a line on amazing pumpkin spice hot chocolate where you just add water, I'm all in. As for malt drinks, assuming you mean like Ovaltine or something, I'm not strictly opposed, but it's not something I seek out and I'd probably prefer my carbs elsewhere.     If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages?   Personally, while I wouldn't want, say 4 days of books and 5 days of DVDs and just 4 of other goodies, I would be cool with receiving 2-3 days of books if they are things you think I would really love.   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all?   I would probably be more into general Halloweenie/Autumnal theming than say bologna or mincemeat. If it helps my treater out of a bind or if zie really can have a lot of fun with it, have at.   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort?   Anything on my Amazon wishlist is fair game, if not terribly thematic. I don't have a whole lot of time to watch tv, period, unless it's at least 11 year old friendly, but I would love to see "Let the Right One In" and I have a fondness for old Steven King movies.   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads?   Personally, books are love. I would particularly love a new thematic anthology (I have Halloween by Paula Guran and send it to everyone in these things...which means I'll have to make that last this time if I repeat it) or something kind of scary or otherwise autumnal, but really anything you think I'd love would be fabulous. My next project still in progress on goodreads is shelving my "want to read" books into "have them/don't have them", since right now it's a mix, but it should give you some ideas at the very least.   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy?   I definitely want to know who you are. I don't feel super strongly about when I find out, although tradition leans toward the end. In terms of numbering, both a free for all and specific numbering are fun, so whatever strikes you as most appropriate.     Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm?   I'm very much a BPAL only girl, so no on solid perfume. Lip balm forever, though, especially if it has SPF.     There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts,etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable?   I could probably get away with a costume more than actual club-wear and since I never actually get to wear any of the club wear I already own (and in fact might be raiding my stash of jewelry from my hardcore goth days for this swap, I'm a no on the gothy clothes question. I would love Halloweenie socks, accessories, fingerless gloves/armwarmers, t-shirts and other accessories (I'd lean more toward black/purple/spiders/bats than orange and pumpkins for anything other than socks or maybe jewelry). For that matter, a long wig could be fun - I actually borrowed a long black and purple wig and wore it to a work lunch for Halloween last year.   Rose City Comicon - Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? I didn't see anything that jumps out at me in the vendor list, but my inner 12-year-old will fight your inner 12-year-old for Goonies. Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? I go back and forth on DDLM stuffs (as opposed to my much hoarded stash of the 2004 DDLM oil. I would love some sugar skull earrings, otherwise, I'm pretty particular. Question for all you knitters,crocheters and people who like yarn and yarnie things; can you give somebody just one or two balls of yarn? Can you make something out of that? Is it useful? This is definitely not directed at me, but no, I would get absolutely no use out of yarn, unless you made it into something for me. Does anything from this shop catch your eye? I have a lotion in some sort of vanilla from Debauchery that I really love and I'm a sucker for bubbling scrubs, so I'd be happy to try those - in terms of scents, the Black Honey and Buttermilk Nectar both look fabulous and every single one of the autumn scents I looked at looked promising. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with costmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched?   That is totally cool with me. Bring on the bright sparkles!   ETA: For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? No fiber allergies here, so no worries. Just nothing too scratchy.   does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market?   I love World Market with an unholy passion. In fact, I should probably swing by there this weekend for my pumpkin, but the short answer is yes, that is a very safe place to shop for me.   does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils?   Need is such a strong word. I would love measuring cups in weird sizes - 2 cup, 2/3, 3/4 sorts of things. I can always use more spatulas and measuring spoons, especially if they are colorful and/or seasonal. Also, wooden spoons or other non-stick pan friendly spoony things. And baking stuff - cupcake liners, sanding sugars, that sort of thing, are always grand.   Dearist Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other?   Probably more on the non-edible side. I'd be happy to have some edible/drinkables, though.   Any guilty pleasures? Gray's Anatomy is probably the closest thing.   And now, a new question: to sort of piggy-back onto the question about small kitchen items, do you like to bake or cook, and if yes, are there any special ingredients, spices, or decorations for baked goods (like sprinkles in seasonal shapes or those decorative picks you put on top of cupcakes, for instance) that you would like? How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? Sounds great. I probably need an XL.   Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use?   Very very short is my hair. I make it kind of spiky with pomade and that's about it. My daughter has super long hair and will adopt any styling related goodies, hair oils, etc.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves?   I would love something autumnal, but not pumpkin (I have a Punkie Night lotion from Paintbox, so I'm good there). Your co-hosts this round will be Meaganola and Usagi.   In this swap, you will have the opportunity to gather 13 treats for another forumite, while someone else does the same for you. Suggestion scents?

Okay so I am sitting here watching catching fire, and then I think, they should make the hunger games, divergent, and mortal instrument series oils. its a suggestion, and I didn't know where else to get anyone else's opinion on the matter, so I posted it here. I hope I don't get in trouble for this either because I am still new and don't know where to post suggestions yet.   I'm a big fan of the three series, and I just thought it would be cool if they could experiment with making oils based off of those.   So what do you guys think? yay or nay??

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I love handmade yarny things and yarn!   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I have a bath, but I never use it because it's ugh. I love non-commercial soap and scrubs though! Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? Yes! Homestuck, Ava's Demon, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, Attack on Titan (just getting into it), Harry Potter (I'm a ravenclaw!), Farscape, Battlestar Galactica (the reboot), My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (but I don't consider myself a brony, kinda don't like the fandom), Adventure Time, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Yu Yu Hakusho, Mass Effect, Pokemon, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, trying to get into Evagelion, The Elder Scrolls (but not the MMO lore), Star Wars: The Old Republic...I -think- that's it? Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I don't! And yes! I would! So much!   Would you like loose, fancy tea? Yes yes yes yes! 13 Days of Halloween! 2014

Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? I don't think so. Maybe that I am not picky at all! Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I'm not a hardcore fandomy sort. But here is a list of things I like: Supernatural, Lord of the Rings, Resident Evil (the movies), Firefly/serenity, cookbooks (I know, I'm a weirdo, I read them for fun), Calvin and Hobbes, Foxtrot, Fraggle Rock, Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, nail polish, puzzles, Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I used to have one, but I got rid of it. I just didn't like it as much as candles. I love candles. Nice one, cheap ones, they're all my favorites.   What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? YAY! I can crochet, and I do a lot of it. But, the only things I've ever made for myself are some blankets. So, while I can do it, I never do it for myself, so anything made for me would be greatly appreaciated! I do get hives from wools, even the nice wool blends. I could manage a hat, since I have a lot of hair, it wouldn't touch my skin...but I wouldn't be able to wear a scarf or mittens made out of wool. I like everything, almost! I do not like jasmine teas, or roobios, or anything that's heavy on hibiscus, and licorice flavoring is icky. And green teas with flavors, black teas with fruity goodness, anything fall flavored (as in spices, and pumkins...not like dirt and dead leaves and rotting things). And ALL THE TEAS!!! What is your favorite fall activity? Leaves changing colors! The crisp air smells! The apple orchards! Pumpkin patches! The wee little kidlets coming to my door asking for candy! This is my first Halloween with doggies, and they WILL be wearing costumes! I hope to find a pretty tutu for BooBear, because she is a princess (and she has a homely little face, with a big underbite, so it'll be extra funny). And a hot dog bun costume for Bandit, since he's half weiner dog. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Bandit willing wears little sweaters when its super cold out and Boo had to wear a diaper after she got fixed in rescue (poor old girl was in heat when she was fixed and was a bit of a mess, my sister-in-law was her foster-mom, so we got all her information from fostering time), she didn't mind her diaper. Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? Gimme! For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? As long as its not touching my wrists or face, I should be ok! I'm not sure about other fibers like alpaca. I know wool bothers me, even the nice wool blends.   Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? I'm sure that I want everything from them both! I really am easy and I like getting things! YAY!   Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? I don't "need" any. But I certainly would welcome some! YAY! Cute things are my favorites. What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I love handmade yarny things (and handmade in general); I also love yarn, but don't send any (unless you handdye something special) - my stash is overflowing.   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I haved both, but only use the shower, since I don't actually trust my bathtub to take a bath.   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? I'd like to be introduced to different comics, especially independent ones.   Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I'm really only into Sailor Moon at the moment (I want all the merchandise), but I also really like Marvel and video games in general.   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I don't, and it's been on my 'to buy' list for years.   Would you like loose, fancy tea? I love loose, fancy teas. Fruity, black teas are my preference.   Incense, y/n? I'm going to pass this time   What is your favorite fall activity? I love when the weather starts to change and that 'fall' feeling arrives - the sun is still nice and bright but there's a definite nip in the air. Frimp from the lab. I absolutely love Midsummer Night's Dream and have always wanted to try this. Unfortunately, it was rather disastrous.     In the imp: Faint sweet floral with a harsh chemical undertone.   Wet: YO, something went terribly wrong immediately. I don't know if it was the green note (?) or the pansy or the carnation (which hates me) or what, but I got almost no floral and a kind of awful wet swampy chemical smell. Husband said it was like bathroom air freshener from the eighties! Thankfully it didn't cause a headache, but this is really unpleasant.   Drydown: After a while it seems to get a little sweeter, but that awful chemical note remains, and I can't tell whether the perfume is sweetening or just fading. Weirdly, it also wears off very quickly but the nasty note hangs on and on and is really difficult to wash off. It smells something like floral hairspray.   Verdict: NO NO NO NO NO cat. Like someone else said, I wish I knew what notes were in this so I could avoid them forever, because something in this really doesn't go with my skin. I think it's probably a green note, beause those really really don't work on me, but usually they don't smell like some kind of awful spray.   Source: Love-In-Idleness

Spring Cleaning Swap Questions

So how do people feel about spare garden seeds? If it's herbs I would love 'em! I'm (hopefully) going to have a garden bed dedicated for herbs this summer and need some seeds for filling it!   Would you be interested in receiving fiber art supplies (like yarn, spinning fiber, etc)? Yarn probably not. Spare fabric would be loved however. I do a tea of the day post on instagram every day and like to have different fabrics for backgrounds each day.   Would you be interested in receiving beads and/or stones? (The stones are for wire wrapping...or just for looking pretty.) One can never have enough beading supplies I say.   Jewelry Please! I usually only wear stud earrings. Dangly stuff is ok as long as it is on a stud, not a hook.   Tea? YES! I know I should drink down more of what I have before getting more but being gifted with it doesn't count. Right? I love black, oolong, and pu'erh but am willing to try some whites and greens. Loose leaf is preferred but bags are ok too since they're easier to use at work.   Talismans and charms: No thank you   Do your pets need anything? I have two cats that would love small toys to bat around!   How about (unused) hair accessories (barrettes, fancy bobby pins, headbands, etc.)? I love flower clips   What about stickers, paper, paper, pens ect? Yesssssssss   Nail polish? If so, any particular colors? Triple yes! I can never get enough orange nail polish. Matte polish or topcoat is always usefull, holo is LOVED in any color, and I have a weakness for the new textured polish trend as well. I do enjoy indie brands but I'm not much of a glitter fan.   Would you want BPAL/BPTP stuff??? Do you have a wishlist? Or are you already so well-stocked with BPAL that getting more in a spring cleaning swap would be overkill? Overkill? What's that? Wishlist is in my sig as is my DISO. I have wishlists on the BPAL and BPTP sites as well that can be found with my username.   Are there any small household goods you always need and never can find when you need them? scotch tape rolls!   Would anyone want old CD's? Like 90's boy band type? No thank you   Ok what about wii games, like exercise ones or kids games? No thank you, we don't have a wii   Would you be alright with homemade baked goods, candies, etc? In moderation. One or two items would be ok.   How about baking/cooking supplies, like spices and such? Non-perishables like cookie cutters and muffin cups are always useful.   What about OCYL? Any other perfume companies you love or want to try? I wouldn't mind trying Villainess perfumes . . . or if you have any of their adorble ampule bottles that are empty . . .   Would you want soap/bath and body goodies? What companies do you love or want to try? No thank you   Are there any kitchen appliances or gadgets you'd like? nope   Are there any yarn-based, fabric-based, etc. objects you would like to receive? Scarves, shawls, tote bags...? stuffed toys for kids or pets? I love scarves and plushies (dragons, otters, red pandas, Ty beanies) and so do my kids   Do you dress-up/cosplay - if so, are there any items you need right now for fabrication? Any special accessories or fabric, supplies, etc? I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism which does Medieval recreation. Wooden plates and bowls as well as wood-handled or horn-handled utensils would be great. Linen or wool fabrics and medieval-style trim are always welcome. If you need any more ideas I have an SCA category in my Etsy wishlist. What I would most love are simple lampwork beads for the Viking garb I am putting together <3   Do you have an e-reader/tablet and would you be interested in e-books/games if I can figure out how to gift already purchased ones from my Kindle? No thank you   What about makeup/skin care? Are you interested in anything in that realm, provided it's new and all? I love eye-shadow and lipstick, especially in shades of peach and orange.   Would you be interested in recieving cute little containers? (I.E. having your items in mailing box also being inside tins or cloth jewelry baggies, ect.) Yes please! I have a weakness for stuff like that   If you would like CDs, what styles of music do you like and hate? Like steampunk, classic rock, instrumentals like The Piano Guys, Lindsay Sterling, Unwoman, and Michion.     Would you like some art for your walls? What styles do you like? No thank you. My husband and I are both artists so we have too many things to put up already Are there any staple type items you could use (that I might just have multiples of haha) likeCotton rounds, deodorant, shaving cream, body wash? Or travel size items? cotton rounds, q-tips/cotton swabs, crayons (for the kids)     Clothes! Anything you especially desire/lean towards, and what sizes would you like? My style tends to be a bit eclectic. I like full skirts - floor-length to just below knee-length, sarongs, babydoll tanks and tees. Size small.   Would you be opposed to mugs or other beverage recepticals? What are your preferences along those lines? I am looking for a new travel mug. It must be able to hold at least 12 fluid oz.
