Aelopile

Category: Phoenix Steamworks   At first blush, I get a blast of citrusy smell, and then the cedar kicks it to make it smell like woodsy polish.   It has decent staying power and throw...not sure if this is a keeper for me, though.

Scents that don't work on me

I decided that I needed to start a list of BPAL scents that don't work on me. Some of these scents just seem to haunt me. They never work on me, but I keep getting them in swaps and such. If you are swapping with me, please don't send me any of the following.   Absinthe Blood Kiss Bon Vivant Coiled Serpent Grand Guginol Grog Highwayman Juke Joint Magus Namaste Omen Ouija Sudha Segara Twenty-One VooDoo Fire of Love Darkness Haunted Jazz Funeral Midnight Twilight Zombi Envy Gluttony Greed Wrath Les Infortunes De La Virtue Malediction Rose Cross Serephim Black Phoenix Bluebeard Marquise de Merteuil Nocnitsa Pain Bathsheba Carnal Jezebel Depraved Desire Endymion Kabuki Les Bijoux Love's Torments Muse O Salome Saturnalia Suspiro Wanton Croquet Knave of Hearts Mock Turtle's Lessons Queen of Hearts The Red Queen Two,Five, and Seven Juliet Katharina Ophelia Tamora Titus Andronicus Athens Cairo Delphi Eden Havana Niflhiem Rome Sri Lanka Uruk Belladonna Devil's Claw Hairy Toad Lily Mandrake Opium Poppy Shadow Witch Orchid Strangler Fig Aizen-Myoo Gaueko Grandmother of Ghosts Hades Nemesis Nuit Oya Santa Muerte Euphrosyne Tisiphone Zorya

Sorry I'm behind lovely Witch!

Do you ever send out your witchee's stuff and then get really anxious that they won't like it? Yeah. And I waffle on what to buy them because "what if they hate it".   Retro candy So! New question! Are you interested in/do you like any of this candy! Sure!! I like trying neato stuff like that!   Cheese & Jam? is this something that's combined together, cause I dunno if could eat cheese flavored jam.   Bacon? Its good, but not amazing. I ate it for breakfast today and zapped it in the microwave to get rid of all that extra nasty grease. Ugh.   Do you all like board games (like Scrabble, Yahtzee, etc)? I like Apples to Apples, Scrabble, chess, and Star Wars Monopoly.   Figs? Nomnomnom!   Tomatoes? ::gag::   what are your thoughts on masks? Hmm... masks...dunno. It'd have to be something really cool.   are you going to reveal yourself or do you want your witchee to let you know that they know if they do?? I have a plan.... ::grins::   would you wear a name necklace (like carrie has from sex and the city?) I have my name in Arabic that I wear. I'd only do my name if it's in another language.   do you like/collect any toys?? I collect glow toys and LED toys, and cool little knick knack toys (star wars, creepy looking vintage toys.)   Chestnuts? I don't know if I've ever had them before.   So, with the recent slew of discontinued GC's - are you panicking, and which GC's are you now desperate to order now? SIN, Black Rose, Morocco, but for sure, SIN!     Bug phobias? I have no problems with bugs unless they are in one of three following situations: 1. They're in my apartment/work/car/. 2. They're in my food. 3. They're trying to bite me.     (No need to change that answer!! Applys to me as well!)   Disney? I don't collect any disney toys, but I do love disney movies. I am in need of Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I have them on VHS but the ol' VCR is coughin and sputterin and weezin and there's no need to spend money on a new one when we have all these new fangled technological advancerismims like yer DeeVeeeDee players and such. Them kids from across the street... they knows how to press play for me when I ask em too. ::spits wad of tobaceee::   Wallace & Gromit? erm... who?

Noodle

Just relaxing and watching re-runs of the Office right now. Laundry is in the dryer, I am clean and wearing VS Pink sweats, dinner has been put away. *sigh of relief* My boyfriend has stolen my DS to play Scribblenauts, which I just got and it's amazing! I'm enjoying some Assam black tea with soymilk and agave.   I picked up my books on hold at the library today and I'm quite excited to read Wesley the Owl. Maybe I should get off the computer.

[BANNED] ebonykawai, aka httpoo, aka raineygirl; shelldoo

After some drama blazed about her e-tail business, Atropa's Cottage, ebonykawaii created a sock puppet account, httpoo (on 17 May 2006). We were aware of its existence, but didn't do anything about it because initially, it was not being used.   On 11 Sept 2009, httpoo was used to troll in a topic about the Black Butterfly Moon (August 2009) update. At this point in time, httpoo was put on the restricted duplicate account group and ebonykawaii suspended and warned that if another duplicate account was linked to her, she would be banned.   On 22 Sept 2009, ebonykawaii created the raineygirl account, and was promptly banned.     When we say we do not tolerate duplicate accounts, especially for sock puppet and trolling purposes, we mean it!   ---   In 2008, shelldoo and two other forum members collected money and goods for Beth and Ted's wedding present from the forum. Shelldoo insisted on collecting the money for the charitable donation and was supposed to donate over $1,500 of the collection to the ACLU in Beth and Ted's name. The donation was never made. While we didn't ban her for the massive swaplift that she also did around this time (spanning from approximately October 2008 - April 2009), when this problem was brought to our attention, we felt that this sort of abuse of our members' trust is intolerable and she was banned.

Newest additions to GC

okay to add to my wanted list i have gone through and would like to try these GC Add ins-   THE LIGHTS OF MEN’S LIVES THY GODFATHER’S PRESENT GODFATHER DEATH THE LITTLE WOODEN DOLL FIRE FOR THY STEPMOTHER’S DAUGHTERS VASILISSA PAÍS DE LA CANELA   It is going to be some time before i can order more from the lab. Also on a weird side note. If i could get an imp of Crowley from somewhere it would be great. Mine went home with one of my friends a year ago I am going to be doign a MnS here at the house next month and somehow it dosn't seem right to have people try Aziraphale without Crowley there to try to. Which i didn't think of when my friend fell in love with my imp.   As with anything these are just things i want and being older than i want to be my wants won't hurt me.

The Apothecary

Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig.

in the bottle: Tea and herbs. Nice, actually. I'm hoping the tea scent lasts longer for me in this than in Embalming Fluid.

on wet: Mostly tea. The herbs have gone.

drydown: This is interesting. The tea no longer stands out enough to distinguish; instead I'm getting a well-meshed clean scent that reminds me of having just stepped out of a shower after using a nice, expensive, french-milled herbal soap. It doesn't smell soapy, just clean. Seriously -- clean. If I had to define the scent of clean skin with a scented oil, this would be exactly it.

one hour later: Still clean, though there's some light sweetness asserting itself. I don't think it's a particular component (or maybe it is -- perhaps the fig?), but rather the sum of the whole. The whole thing is very light in a way which makes me think it might not last the day.

end of day: Still here. The herbal effect went away and left me with a sort of light, sweet tea thing. Not sweet tea as in sugar added, but more like a cup of non-tannic, delicate tea with ... or, near ... it's really hard to describe. Just ... sweet. And light.

compared to official description: I didn't really get the ginger, which is a shame. I'm thinking now that the fig contributed to the sense of sweetness, but I never once thought "Oh, that's fig!"

notes: The final result was a tad too sweet for me. I like how light it was, though. This might be a good one for the locket.

Yule

Another one I tried at Sally's, and I've been wanting to try this for a long time. I don't like it nearly as much as I thought I would, but again, this was tested along with about a hundred other scents (exaggeration), so that can distort my impressions. But the wood had a different quality than what I was hoping for (more fuzzy or powdery or something), and it smelled somewhat reminiscent of Rat (I think) from last year's Yule scents, which I already have a decant of, so I probably don't need to hunt down any Yule. It's a good thing to know, and I'm glad I got to try it, because I was really going to try to get a bottle unsniffed.

Suck It

I tried this at Sally's house, but it was kind of drowned out by the 50 other scents I was wearing. I smelled the cherry and a little booze, and it might actually be a nice, subtle scent, but I would have to re-test to give a real impression. Just posting this here for my own future reference (sorry that it's a useless review). : )

Falling Leaf Moon.....first impressions

First applied, this is lovely! Right away it's very sweet to me, and I don't really know which note is so sweet unless it's the opoponax. Anyway.....I can also smell the rain note, and it's the most lovely, delicate aquatic scent that I have experienced. It's so light and fragile that it's almost lost in the blend, but just strong enough that it stands out if you're 'looking' for it. I love aquatics and this aspect is stunning, but overall I don't consider this an aquatic scent.   After the scent warms and dries on my skin, it seems to actually get stronger. It loses a little bit of the complexity of the very first stage, and the sweetness starts to get to me a little bit. I don't like honey in perfume, and this starts to remind me of honey somewhat.....a little cloying. And this stuff really has staying power and strength!   I can really understand the comparisons to Samhain, but this reminds me even more of Autumn, except without the rose in that scent. I'm going to try applying with a lighter touch, and I refuse to give up on this scent, even though it turns too strong and a little cloying with the honey sweetness. What I learned from Samhain is that after 3 years, the sweetness balanced out with the other notes and it became something almost heartbreakingly beautiful. I hope for the same thing to happen with Falling Leaf Moon!

Monster Bait: Closet -- a love affair

Monster Bait: Closet was one of the first three BPAL scents I ever tried. The other two were Monster Bait: Underbed, which got jettisoned pretty quickly, and Freak Show, which is a dear favourite. I have a stockpile of MB: Closet -- at one point I had three bottles, which since I have never used up an imp of anything seems a tad excessive. So today, I gave up on my usual policy of using BPAL sparingly, and just slathered. OM NOM NOM.   I need to reiterate my love for this scent. It's blackberry booze on me, at least at first; underneath is this heavy sorta-chocolatey sweetness that I guess is the Red Velvet cake. It stays true the whole time I'm wearing it, and envelops me in this heavy, creamy, sweet-berry warmth which nonetheless isn't too tart. It is one of the first scents I ever fell hard for, and remains firmly on the "Can't Live Without" list. If you have never tried it, do so. It's a stunner.

The Hell-Gate Of Ireland

The first time I tried this, I didn't like it at all. I gave it a couple weeks and tried it again, and it's better....but still not something I need a lot of. It's very dry and I do like the clove, but the black musk keeps wanting to fight with me. I have been having trouble with black musk lately. This scent reminds me of Velvet Bandito, but I think I like that better, and at any rate a decant of this is enough for me. I will probably keep it but not go for a bottle.

Bite Me

I was really curious about this scent! So glad that Sally let me try hers. As it turns out, it's just not for me. At all.   I see where people are getting rose from this, I smell it too. Actually this has more rose than some rose scents that I've tried. I think I wanted more sweetness or caramel/cake out of it. It's kind of strong and cloying, and almost plasticky for the first half hour to an hour. However after that, it does reach a middle stage where it smells kind of good to me. It takes on almost a hint of chocolate, and has a nice, complex cake-y smell.   Much later on.....stale dusty roses. : ( Or maybe : ) because that means I one less scent for me to hunt down.

Boo

Briefly tested.....   Pleasant, sweet, however somewhat undistinguished, this one is just not for me. I have nothing against sweet scents but I wouldn't wear this with so many other scents I like more. Plus this does something a little funky on the dry-down. It reminded me of Anactoria, which was weird.

No. 93 Engine

Balm of Gilead, benzoin, frankincense, balsam of peru, beeswax, saffron, galbanum, calamus, hyssop, mastic, lemon balm, and white sage.

in the bottle: Smoky and sharp, resinous, metallic. I can smell beeswax and something reminiscent of Vicks VapoRub (not a bad thing). The rest of the scents are strong and completely meshed -- I can't pull them apart. An assertive scent. Masculine. I like.

on wet: Metallic Vicks, with strong, skin-like warmth underneath. The sharpness has faded, and my impression is now of a more gender-neutral scent. Definitely strong resinous undertones -- makes me think of sticky, hardened sap.

drydown: The Vicks has moved to the back, leaving me with a lovely warm scent which is, unfortunately, going a bit incense-y. I'm guessing the frankincense is asserting itself. Less than an hour later: Frankincense and other components have combined in exactly such a way as to make this scent a hybrid of headshop and candle store. I not like.

one hour later: Straight incense. I'm going to wash this off. I really don't like strong incense smells, not even in a room scent. Other oils have given me different impressions when tried again later, so I'll give this one another shot on another day.

end of day: Didn't make it.

compared to official description: There are a lot of components to this oil that I'm not familiar with. I have to rely on general impressions only, because I can't say "the calamus stood out" or "the balsam of Peru supported the rest", since I'm not familiar with those scents (or half the ones listed, actually). I got wax, frankincense, benzoin (the Vicks smell), something like warm skin, and a melange of indescribable scents that fused into a strong, sharp, warm, pleasant whole in the bottle, but that went almost pure incense on my skin.

notes: This one would definitely work in a locket. I'm not tempted to get a bottle, but I'll keep the imp.

A small, little, short, brief note..

I just had to proclaim my love for the following -   Lambs Wool. How delicious is this scent? Oh how I wished I'd purchased a bottle of this instead of getting it from a decant circle. It smells perfect. Apples, spices, beautiful.   Neil Gaiman - I couldn't help but treat myself to another of his books. Fragile Things is brilliant so I had to get Smoke and Mirrors to accompany it. I managed to finally read Snow, Glass, Apples tonight. Oh my.     Fin.

MORE SW QUESTIONS!

******9/29***** Suppose I have a bottle of something you (my witchee) really wants, and I want to share it with you. Would you like a rollerball bottle made from oil in my own bottle in it? Oh yes! Rollerballs = simple brilliance. I don't mind dabbing and rubbing and whatnot but a simple rollerball is brilliant for on the go sniffage. I love decants anyway, whatever the container. ******Some days after 9/24 and before the end of the month****** What are your thoughts on Incense? I do like it, truth be told. I have a box in the house filled with "smelly" stuff for our living room and there are a couple of boxes of incense in there. I always have it incase I want.. I don't know.. to perhaps get a little wicca flowing, if you know what I mean. What about handbags/totes/clutches? Not fussed particularly. I like big slouchy bags that I can fill with rubbish. Preferably cotton and black. Simple! Are there any particular movies you want on DVD? We have mountains of dvds and some still in the shrink wrap. I don't tend to pay for movies either, which I shouldn't really be admitting. It's just one of those things. What about stickers?? Nowhere really to put them! Postcards and magnets on the other hand, weeheee! Do you just need anything from the Possets update? I've never really tried possets. I'm sure I have a frimp or two in the last couple of years but nothing that stood out. Maybe I'm ready to be enabled! ******9/24***** Do you use henna at all (hair or skin)? I did my hair once and it was a total waste of time. In reality I'm not too fussed. I do dye my hair but unfortunately I use nasty chemicals as my hair is so full of crap that I fear nothing else would take! I've been dying it for near on 10 years now, surprised I'm not bald. What about 2010 Wall calenders? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject? Calenders yes! Something.. I don't know.. something me? Weird, wonderful. We have a nuns having fun one at the moment which is bloody brilliant. What are your thoughts on Halloween decorations? I'm pretty sure I've answered this before but I love them. Looove them. Old fashioned ones, wooden ones and stuff made from metal. What tarot card do you most identify with? The Lovers (answered this before in more depth) ******9/23***** Who collects ACEOs/ATCs? I couldn't even tell you what they were. Switch Witches, which shoes do you own that are your favorite? What are your "daily drivers"? Black primark pumps and a pair of old, falling apart ballet style shoes in silk leopard print with big old bows on the front that I bought ages ago in york. I wish I could find more as I don't think they're going last much longer If you could describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be? Weird, obsessive, dark, sensitive, eccentric Do you collect new/used stamps? Will you like to get stamps on your mails? I always see myself as the sort of person who would have this hobby but I've never ever got into it. Any WKAP you're excited about? Nein. How do you feel about stationary? (pens, notepads, cards, pencils, etc.) I really thought pens said penis. Oh my. Anyway, stationery? Not really for me. I have a pen and a bit of paper and that's about it. Notepads can be cool, but again, they have to be, looks wise, something I'm into. ******9/21-22***** The New update is next week.....Is everyone ready for the Yules and everything else in store? Arg! Yules! I've just properly sat down with my weenies! I do love a good yule though. My favourite is a yule (midwinters eve) so I'd get that if Beth did another. Cake or death? Cake please! And some brown bread.. first word sounds like.....brrrrown. Are there any foreign food products that you'd love to get or to try? Not particularly. I'm not really adventurous due to being a veggie. You sort of stick to what you know just for safety. Tea lovers, loose or bag? Paraphernalia? Everything. ALL! I love tea. teateatea! cthulhu.gif******9/20***** Would you object to annonomous postcards (real ones) from your witch before the big reveal??? I love postcards werewolf2.gif******9/19***** Do you drink alcohol? Wine, beer or liquor? What is your favorite wine/beer/mixed drink? I drink absinthe but that's about it. I'm really not a huge booze fan. Too many violent hangovers and too many times did I lose the contents of my stomach. Do you like to find out there's a package on the way or to receive a tracking number to stalk, or do you prefer surprise packages? Both. There's nothing quite like pushing the door open after work and seeing a bubble wrap mailer on the floor and wondering "What's that?! I didn't buy anything..? Did i?" If I were your witch, and I wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? And, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? Or would you want it for a certain element? Or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? I'm allll into that sort of thing. Definitely mojo bags for love. I don't think you can ever have enough positive love vibes. skull.gif******9/18***** Do you wear lip gloss/lip balm? If so, what flavors/scents? Lip Squeak from Lush which from what I know is now discontinued! Waaaah. It smells like spicy apple pie! I'd love any lipbalm that smelt like that sort of thing. Hell, I love ANYTHING that smells like spiced apples. Definitely my favourite scent... hence why I've got nearly every year of Samhain.. just waiting for that ultimate spiced apple thang. Cor. What is one thing you constantly keep with you that you constantly loose? My lighter. My own fault for being a smoker I suppose. Ho hum. What are your favorite fruits? Cherries, passion fruits, grapes, mango If Beth made a perfume called "switch witch" what notes would be in it? honey and amber, a glow of happiness, warmth and comfort. What is your favorite cookie type? Any! Nom nom. ghost.gif******9/17***** Are you into 80s movies (like i am ) if so, which are your favorites and who are your favorite characters? I like 80's b-movies! Do you like Villainess soaps? What are your favorite scents? I love villainess, but I know I've answered this before. I love the fact she does chocolate and berries SO well together that after using her stuff I actually want to nibble my arm. Do you mind artificial colors in your food? Not at all. As long as they aren't animal sourced then it's all good. Who wants hair pretties?(headbands, barrettes, pony-o's, scrunchies, bobby pins, hair clips, etc) bobby pins are always, always a plus. more so with little things on them. i have some awesome skull ones, a little bit of a cliche but they're so cute. If you were my witchee, would you like any of the scents/sizes that are available on clearance? I'm not sure I understand this question. Ahem. I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes. Origami is cool! We do some bits at work and it fascinates me. Not sure I'd have an active interest in it though. How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? Anti-fur, leather, shells, etc.? Does even faux wig you out? No. But I know my Witch knows this already How do you deal with stress? What's your favorite way to unwind? Foot rub, bath, lots of tea, video game or two. The usual. werewolf2.gif******9/16***** Who is musically inclined? What instruments (voice counts) do you play? Would you enjoy sheet music? I do sing, but since I became a smoker I wouldn't do it infront of people anymore. I used to sing in school concerts and at performances on my own, how I had the balls is beyond me. Now I just sing Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush in the shower. Favorite musicals? I saw Rent, the original cast too, in the Shaftsbury theatre when I was a kid, that was absolutely brilliant. I went to theatre school so I loved them all. Probably Rocky Horror is my favourite, but I prefer the actual film to the on stage musical now. I watched it religiously as a kid as my best friend was obsessed. We got into acting together and yeah, it'll always stick in my heart. I love the way the movie touches on total b-movie sci-fi horror. Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? Lust. Anyone want a nickname and embroidered headband from PandaBite? Noo thankyou. I have seen a lot of yankee candles haters..... personally i like yankee candle (some of them, anyway). do you or don't you, and if not, what candles do you like? this assumes you like candles. otherwise, what specific home fragrance do you use? I don't mind them! I love their apple scents and there cranberry ones too. Lovely fresh red fruit. Would a "gift" donation to one of the organizations/causes you support be a great gift, or a lame gift? It'd be lovely, I support animal Aid, PDSA, the US Bat Sanctuary, Wildlife Trust, Any animal fund really, Dogs Trust, Cats Protection, any money towards dogs for the blind, anything..really. cthulhu.gif******9/15***** Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? Not really I don't think. Never really given it that much thought! Super villain or vigilante? Which would you like to be? Which would you like to receive? Vigilante every time. For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies? I do like a little bit of craft. I have all these BIG ideas of making things but end up always leaving them half finished. Poop. Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? Yes please! I love trinkets! Any songs you are desperately into at the moment? Anything by Florence and the Machine. Listened to a bit of The Doors too recently. If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? Criminal Minds, CSI, BBC news or a documentary. Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland? I was but.. arg. I used to love Tim Burton but it just isn't the same anymore. He seems to taint and ruin old stories instead of using his noggin' to create brilliance. How often do you update your wishlist? Not enough. I need a kick to do it really. Some days I'll go mad and scan through so much crap that I'll have notepads full but others it just doesn't feel right, like I just need "me" time to do it and nothing else. What's your stance on cranberries? YUM! Do you have a crush on anyone famous? Do you have a crush on any literary characters? Would you like fanfiction or fan art based on this/these people? I crush on Stephen Fry, Dorian Grey and Gambit. There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate? I love truffles and white chocolate, hate pretty much everything else. Haha.

Rocktober SW Random Q&A

Comics/graphic novels? I don't read many, but favorites that I own are Watchmen, Hopeless Savages (Hm, I seem to be missing Vols 2 & 3...), Blue Monday (missing Vol 4), Geisha, and everything Marjane Satrapi has written   Haunt? Not so much from the update (maybe the Verdigris mask...), but I am dying to try her soaps... esp Linden Flower, Beeswax & Buttermilk, Bulgarian Lavender...   Home-made goodies? Psh, YEAH! Watch me say no!   If you had a machine that could take you to an alternate dimension that you could control or would like, what would be in it, who would be there, and how long would you stay? We'd have 7 acres of rolling farmland near the ocean, with a nice snug house & a flock of sheep for shearing & milking. DH's asthma & allergies would be GONE. Tiny C could run & play in the fields & woods without fear, and DH & I could support ourselves comfortably doing what we love (I'd sell artisan cheese, wool & soap, and freelance bake on the side; DH would collect & sell vinyl & antiquarian books & do some woodworking & be an adjunct at the local college). All our favorite friends (M & J, E & B, J & R, and C & E) would all live nearby, instead of being scattered across the country. DH's mom would find peace; my folks would know how to properly install a car seat

Les Infortunes de la Vertu

A pain-tinged, pleasure-soaked blend of leather, oakmoss, orange blossom, amber, and rose with a breath of virginal French florals and a hint of austere monastic penitential incense.

in the bottle: This is the first leather-based scent in which I smell the leather right off the bat. I like. Leather, amber, incense. Comforting. Calming. Sensual. I can say with utter certainty that I long to be surrounded by this scent. Whether it works on me remains to be seen.

on wet: Still leather, amber, and incense. No hint of florals.

drydown: I'm already losing the leather and going to almost straight amber with a hint of incense. I'm starting to think that I need to research oils without amber, as I seem to amp it to the point of no return. I don't dislike the scent of amber, I just don't want it to be the only thing I smell, and on me, amber doesn't play well with others. Though I usually really dislike florals, the almost one-note-ness of the amber now makes me long for the scent of florals just to break it up.

one hour later: I washed my hands a couple of times for food prep and lost most of the scent, so I reapplied. On second application I get the leather more strongly immediately after application. After the second drydown I'm still smelling mostly amber, but I have to admit that, although my nose isn't pulling scents out that I can identify, there's definitely more to this than amber. The primal part of my brain, the part that has no use for words, is feeling comforted, safe, and amped -- aware, from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. I feel like I'm wrapped warmly in the arms of a strong man, listening to his quickened heartbeat. Flippin' amazing. Beth, I worship you.

end of day: The most sensual phase of this oil only lasts about ten or fifteen minutes on my skin. I like it overall, definitely. I really like it in the bottle and absolutely love it for the first ten minutes on my skin. I have to declare this a winner, but I'm going to have to try it simultaneously on and in a locket to get the full effect, I think.

compared to official description: I don't pick up any of the florals, which is probably a blessing. I definitely think they're there, but only evident in the in-the-bottle stage, where they add to the whole without standing out. That's really amazing to me, as florals always seem to go straight to the top of the heap when I'm wearing them, whereas here they fade completely out. I was very afraid to try an oil with rose listed, as I've had rose-based scents go cloying (and rotting) on me before, but ... this oil can do no wrong.

notes: I should add that this seemed masculine to me at every stage, but that only increases my enjoyment. It makes me want.
