Ketchup questions for SW halloween/fall round!

When you receive your sw packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? Whatever my witch prefers- I won't make him/her do anything she/he doesn't want to do. Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. No idea, let me think on it... Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? yes. the wind in the trees makes me happy. the sound of rain makes me happy. Superpower? flight- I can go anywhere whenever I want. if you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushins, jewelery making supplies, beads, etc.? All of those things would be greatly appreciated. If I send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? I have a coffee grinder, and I have a spice mill that i have never used, so whole would be a wonderful way to recieve them. For the tea and coffee drinkers: Opinion on tea- and/or coffee-related accessories/etc? Above coffee grinder has been for guests as I don't drink coffee, but I don't know what kind of accessories are out there. what's your favorite pain-relief remedy or ritual? hot bath with something smelly in it, and bed. In your perfect world it is chocolate and...? ark choclate, then milk, then white, and anything in any of them except for fruit- ick. How do you scent your home Tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? I scent it with all of the above, depends on the mood I am in, though my tart burner did just die on me, it was electric and I loved it. How do you take your tea? Black or with cream and/or sugar? 2 milk 1 sugar Do you believe we control our destiny, or does our destiny control us? Its a hand in hand thing for me. i think there are specific milestone points we have no control of, but the path we use to get there is what is chosen by us. What one thing that is missing from your life would you like to have above all else? I am not sure What's your favorite dessert treat? I love all desserts- how can you pick just one? A couple of them actually. the Zieba tree, because I am curious about it, hymn to proserpine, because I still have an imp, the dormouse- I guess thats one more than a couple. lol Which three albums would you take to your apocalypse bolt hole and how would you power the generator? Metallica:and justice for all, Wicked:broadway musical soundtrack, some celtic reels and jigs. the generator would be powered by someone else, as I would be sharing the residence in order to compile more music than just three albums. lol What's your favorite animal?and you can have more than one Owl, Raven, fox, skunk, llama, pot belly pig Any cooks? What are your phobias? I don't know if this counts as a phobia, but bees. mainly because I am allergic to beestings. I get very panicked when they are about. But yet, I love bee things, like honey, and pictures of bees, and beeswax candles, and bee affiliated things, just don't like the bees. What is your favourite flower (or plant)? My favorite flower is a rose. my favorite plant is lavender An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. Who likes coloring books? me! You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? It depends on what the first five ingredients are. i have been known to do both. What was your favouritest job ever, and why? The job I have now is my favoritest job. the people I work with, the patients I see, the work that I do. I love it all If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it? It would be my stairway/hallway- I would repaint it and redecorate it. I want to put a huge mirror in there that would span the one wall that is the height of both the main floor and the upper floor. Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for? Not a huge sprots fans, but I watch a bit of hockey and a bit of football. I like the canucks, and the colts This is how the world ends... zombie apocalypse, robot uprising, alien invasion, return of the elder gods... which doomsday scenario do you prefer (or make your own!)? Return of the elder gods, not a fan of zombies or robots. Do you believe in magic (or magick, if you prefer)? What does it mean to you? Yes I do. It means to me that there are still some things in this world science will never explain. If you found the puzzle box from Hellraiser, what would you do with it? ( and would you be able to resist playing with it? ) I would totally play with it because I am a sucker for puzzles. Do you like pinup art/images? yes. What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? I go out every year, dress up (not those cutesy/sexy costumes, but time and effort ones), and either go to a bar, or a house party. Any other steampunk fans/lovers? I do like it alot, though I don' t own any pieces. If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? tennis balls. she loves to play fetch, and a collar is always a good idea as she trashes hers pretty quickly. treats of any kind will me met with big tail wags. What kinda socks are you wearing tonight? none I am barefoot. Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. nope, but that doesn't mean it wont happen What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? I have wanted to try Tiki King. and I tried faith and absolutely loved it, but haven't been able to find anyone willing to part with it. i know we're all scent sensitive here. what are your favorite non-perfume smells? day in the life stuff? the smell of fresh laundry off the clothes line. and cut grass. and the smell of ozone after a lightning strike. abj? No. homemade sewn type crafts? Bring them on!! There are alot of talented people on here! Favorite childhood toy? I love(d) lego, and board games. lots of board games. ravelry? A childhood book I had of fairy tales, it was a paperback cover, don't remember then name of it(I know, NOT helpful), and I would read that thing over and over again. Alice in Wonderland, still and always. Movies- the neverending story, the dark Crystal, ET, the labyrinth, stuff of that realm. games it was battleship, payday, and life. Shows were ones like Jem, the smurfs, the ones from that time frame. blu-ray player? No. downloads? My computer and the speed of it should be good for such things. hot drinks? tea, hot chocolate, apple cider. restaraunt.com? I live in Canada, so I don't think it will apply to me. I have crushes on Hugh Jackman (him topless in the movie Australia... ), Jude Law, Vincent Price (yes I know he's dead, I can still lust after his image), Alan Rickman, just a few will do.. You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab? Your one absolute favorite BPAL? I would have to say Antique lace. A close second is Snake oil Do you have a favorite BPAL bottle art? There are some absolutely gorgeous works of art floating around on bottles and shirts out there, I love the berry moon art (wish I got the shirt), ALL the pumpkin bottles (read on below as to why), and Milk Moon was one that drew my attention. Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? Absolutely! I would like to try all of the ones that don't have the dirt note in them. Pumpkin pecan waffles? You betcha! I love anything with pumpkin in it. i am a pumpkin-holic. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin juice, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin smelly things, pumpkinpumpkinpumpkinpumpkin... if you had the funds to commission an original painting for yourself, what would it be of? what would it be like- colors, size, style NO IDEA. What d you love and/or hate about it? traditional autumn. the leaves turning the cooler weather, and the thing I don't like about it is the mucky paws it brings through the house. I would LOVE this! Pill boxes not so much, but yes to the others... but anything fun is a heck yeah! I don't know if I identify with them but I have a strong affinity for Faeries. I do believe, and when I am alone in the surroundings of nature, it's hard not to feel I am close to something I cannot see. How do you feel about Dia de los Muertos? Are you interested in sugar skulls? Catrina (or other) skeleton figurines? Definitely interested- I think it's fantastic. Do you have a favorite poem or poet? I am a fan of William Wordsworth, and Shel Silverstein- I have too many favorites to type them all out here. As a general rule of thumb I really enjoy poetry. super villain or vigilante? Can't I be a vigilante who looks like a super villain? they have better wardrobes. PIRATE or NINJA pirate. AAARRRRGGGHHH!!! Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? I would have to say triskelles. Did you not order any Halloween/Literary Vampire blends and wish you had? If so, which ones? I ordered Boo, But didn't order creepy and Lamb's Wool and am kicking myself for not doing so. I also didn't order under the harvest moon, and I should have. As for the vampires, I would love to test an imp of Carlin before I buy. Are there any musicals you love? ALL musicals! Seriously. How broad are your musical tastes? Very broad. There isn't much I won't listen to. I won't listen to techno or country. thats about it. Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? I did at fist type lust. but I think that it is my wrath that you should really be watching out for. Would a "gift" donation to one of the organizations/causes you support be a great gift, or a lame gift? I think it would be an absolutely lovely gift. You're given the opportunity to apprentice at any trade (or craft) of your choosing for the period of one year. Your mentor may be any currently living person. which field of study would you choose, and who would be your mentor? I would love to learn the art of painting. A big blank canvas intimidates me. I would consider myself musically inclined, even if not fluent in any instrument. I love to sing, and have been told that I have a good voice, except by my kids because they are usually telling me to stop. I sing a lot. I do it because it makes me feel very happy. To be honest, I don't think it would matter if I had a good voice or not. I just love to sing. Who wants hair pretties?(headbands, barrettes, pony-o's, scrunchies, bobby pins, hair clips, etc) Answering my own question, all of these would come in pretty handy. I have long dark brown, naturally wavy/curly hair and as much as I love it somedays, there are others when I need it away from me. Do you mind artificial colors in your food I think it's fun as do my kids (last night the boychild made rice and tinted it pink- he was going for orange..lol), and I usually tint our food to match holidays, like St.paddy's day we have green mashed potatoes, valentines we have something pink or red. the only thing that has ever squicked me out was when they came out with the purple and green ketchup years ago. I could eat the green just fine, but the purple I couldn't do. And it's not an aversion to the colour purple, it was just the purple ketchup.. I do both. whatever is easiest. tea paraphernalia sounds okay too. Do you drink alcohol? Wine, beer or liquor? What is your favorite wine/beer/mixed drink? I do drink alcohol. I don't do beer though (nasty accident with it way before I was legal to drink it led to my distaste of it), I love ciders, and hard liquors, wine is hit and miss. I love a vodka with water and a slice of lime, spiced rum w pineapple juice, ceasars, margaritas, bellinins, baileys on the rocks, apple jacks, basically anything mixed. I am not too picky. If I were your witch, and I wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? And, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? Or would you want it for a certain element? Or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? I need something that could help calm my life down. At the moment lots of stress and upheaval is in it, I would like to have that eased up. And, like alot of people, I could use a seat on the money train. Stamps? I don't really do anything with stamps, I could send them along to a friend of mine who collects them for her church, I forget what they do with them, but its for some good cause I am sure. cake or death? I am not sure if this is a movie quote of some sort, but uh, yeah, I choose cake, even though I am not a big cake eater, but its way easier than dying, and more filling too. I do very very much, and its not really all that surprising, since I come from an Irish background. Can you receive flowers at your address? Would you prefer food or a plant instead? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject? Well wall calendars would be ok, I would need one with magnets on it with the tear away pages instead of flip because I keep my calendar on the fridge. I don't really need an appointment journal as I have a blackberry that carries all of that information fro me, but blank journals would be great. do you use henna at all (hair or skin)? I love henna and use it on my skin occasionally, I don't think I have ever heannaed my hair. Who collects ACEOs/ATCs? I don't collect them, but I bet they're beautiful. Are there any languages other than English that you love? I don't know how to speak another language, but spanish and gaelic are ones that I want to learn, french I can read for the most part, but very very basic. F1 racing? uhhh.... no. I don't do cars. Decorated journal? That would be really nice. What are your thoughts on Incense? I love the smell of incense, I haven't used any in a while though, so I am not even sure if i have a burner anymore.... What about handbags/totes/clutches?? I adore purses, handbags, totes, cluthes, and all manner of purse-like things. Are there any particular movies you want on DVD? I would love to own Ever After again- mine broke, and I would love to have The Ghost Whisperer Seasons. What about stickers?? Bring them on! I like stickers alot. Here's my switch witch blog! Ok, I will try to give my witch some clues about my personality. Today I went to my acupuncture appointment, then got my eyebrows waxed. I have to feel good and look good! I ate lunch at one of my favorite vegan restaurants, Blossoming Lotus, and I was disappointed to see that the ice cream flavor of the day was mint, because that's pretty much the only flavor I hate. It's sunny and hot here today so I'm wearing 51. I also have on a shirt that shows off one of my 3 tattoos. Love, ducky P.S. Sometimes I don't know what to write about myself! I'm trying.

Ideas for my Witch

Seriously, witch, I will be happy with whatever you bestow upon me! Don't feel obligated to listen to these lists. I just wanted to have something for you if you want help. My Wishlist Products I would like to try. Other stuff I've been eyeing... Any of the BPTP babydoll t-shirts in size small. I love dangly earrings and necklaces/pendants. I also have size 0 stretched ears. I would love a scent locket, and maybe someday I'll get a BPAL one! But I saw some pretty, more affordable lockets on Etsy. And they had bird designs, too! I'm definitely intrigued by soy wax tarts. You guys are such enablers! Dream Tarts caught my eye because it looks like theirs are vegan. I don't have a warmer, though. Something I don't have yet in BPAL-dom - imp or bottle storage. I would love any sort, be it travel or larger. I could use a cute draining soap dish. I love socks! Really, patterns, creatures...I like lively socks. Except wool. I like snuggly stuff, like blankets and scarves too. I really do love birds of all sorts, especially waterfowl. I like sea/turquoise/aqua blue, and most shades of purple. I love vegan lollipops, most are. I like to try new kinds & I'm a fruity flavor kinda girl.

my scent ramblings

Embalming Fluid

A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon.

in the bottle: Nice. Iced tea with lemons.

on wet: Lemon.

drydown: Lemon. There's an undertone of something that's probably the aloe (unless there are ingredients not listed).

one hour later: Lemon.

end of day: Gone.

compared to official description: I'm not sure how much the white musk contributes. I'd have to smell it as a single-note to determine where it fits into the whole.The green tea is definitely there, at least initially. But the lemon: my, my. Move over, lemon is here.

notes: Stayed very close to my skin and didn't last for more than a few hours. Barely a whiff after even an hour. The tea (and everything but the lemon) faded after application. Oddly, when I left the room and came back, I picked up a ghost of a tea smell where I had been, but I could never smell it on me (only lemon).

I actually like it, but the almost one-note lemon had me thinking of furniture polish before too long. It's probably a fine balance on others, but I seem to have blown the lemon out of proportion. Nice idea, but ... maybe a good room scent.

They're a good mood booster. *What is your favorite creepy folk story or legend? - Mine is Tailypo, which no one else I've ever talked to has heard of so I think it's mostly told around the Southeast Missouri area. I won't tell what it's about here, but trust me when I say it is creepy as heck when told right... and I lived in a folksy enough area that there were people who were near professional storytellers. *If your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both? - If my witch is a writer/storyteller, I would be happy with any of the above, really. I do love having things to read, but nothing beats having a ghost story or a folk tale told aloud by someone who has a talent for it. *For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies? - I am not crafty, but I always love hand-crafted things if my witch is! (P.S. - dixiehellcat, my gloves were put to good use today in helping supply heat to my poor, aching, abused fingers!!!) *Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? - Okay, so, I have an ID case that I've been using for years and is now falling apart... so I could definitely use a hard one! Especially one that perhaps has a keyring attached... *Any songs you are desperately into at the moment? - I've been listening to Regina Spektor's "Poor Little Rich Boy" and a few of the songs from Spring Awakening - "My Junk", "The Dark I Know Well", and "The Bitch of Living". I would be listening to the whole Spring Awakening soundtrack if it had all made it onto my mp3 player. *Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? - I think I mentioned earlier that om/aum is one that seems to be popping up in my life a lot. The pentacle tattoo that I share with sirensea. The triple moon. Basically anything I mentioned for the box. *Are there any Gods, Goddess, or other mythological figures of whom you're particularly fond? - Shiva. Big time Shiva, a friend did a reading on me once that resulted in Shiva being very important to me. Kali. And after conversations with an old professor, I've fallen into not quite worship but more like belief in a more primative, prehistoric goddess, especially in her cthonian aspect. *Super villain or vigilante? Which would you like to be? Which would you like to receive? - I'm more like a vigilante, really... I tend toward idealism, but at the same time I can't stand seeing something wrong but not trying to fix it. As for what I'd rather have... can I add a third option? I've always had a weakness for antiheroes. :swoon: *What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with, and why? - I don't know if I'd say I IDENTIFY with them, but I've always been really drawn to dragons. I love the combination of intelligence and ability to step on you and crush you like a bug. And I've always really enjoyed the myths of dragons who transformed into humans, like Melusine - I'll admit, as a very strange little kid who never fit in at all, I had the occasional flight of fantasy that maybe I was a dragon and I just hadn't figured out how to change back. That actually has shown up in some of my writing, now that I think of it... *How do you feel about Dia de los Muertos? Are you interested in sugar skulls? Catrina (or other) skeleton figurines? - I don't feel that into Dia de los Muertos (not part of my cultural heritage so far as we know, though we wonder about my mom's dad sometimes...), but anything that includes sugar interests me. *Do you have a favorite poem or poet? - I've always liked Roethke, and my creative writing teacher for my poetry class introduced us to Kim Addonizio's "First Poem for You"... that one made a pretty deep impact on me. Oh, and there's one that I can't remember the poet's name, but I know the whole thing... "They say the Bible teaches fear of women, snakes,/And God, who killed his manchild for our sakes/and puts a mark beside our least mistakes/and beats us until our spirit breaks.//Must we believe his godly finger shakes/at Eve for every apple pie she bakes?/I'd rather take my chances with the snakes." I like everything but country (classic or modern), rap, r&b, and most pop. There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate? I'm otherwise a vegetarian but sometimes give in to the temptation of eating candy (that contains gelatine - i.e. making it not vegetarian). I love candy corn and the pumpkins made out of the same stuff. I'm also quite partial to Jelly Babes and that kind of candies. I don't really like hard candies, and I dislike anything with aniseed or ginger. Do you have a Blu-Ray player? No. Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? Is your internet connection fast enough for you to download large files like music easily? Are there any songs, albums, movies, or TV shows that you can't find/haven't been released that you want? No objections. I don't really download TV shows or movies, though, mostly just music. Internet connection is fast enough to deal with them. Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? Sure! I'm interested in natural remedies, and try to buy ecological cleaning products etc. whenever possible. Everything needs to be safe to use around cats, though. If you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushins, jewelery making supplies, beads, etc.? I already talked about this in my questionnaire but I love card making supplies! Especially clear stamps, embellishments of all kinds (especially Prima-style paper flowers), mica-based watercolours, pretty papers and cardstock etc. I also make jewellery but I have loads of beads and other supplies. Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? Music does. And the noises my cat makes, she's very talkative. When you receive your SW packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? I love when everything is individually wrapped. Unwrapped is absolutely fine, too, though! Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. Anything with meat/poultry or fur. And in b&b products, anything that smells of earth or dirt. What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why? Given this is a BPAL forum, this is probably strange but I'm kind of not that into BPAL anymore... I still love wearing the scents I have but I can't keep up with all the new scents that are coming out, and have never been into rares. Champagne & Roses is one I really liked when I got to sniff it so that would be one I guess. I know we're all scent sensitive here. What are your favorite non-perfume smells? Day in the life stuff? Cat's fur. Baking smells - mmm, pie! And I love the smell in the air after fireworks (although I wouldn't wear it as a perfume!). Coffee drinkers, what types of beans to you like? I don't drink coffee. Who has a birthday falling in this round? Not me, I'm an April baby. For those of us who like chocolate, do you like anything /in/ your chocolate, like fruit, nuts, or for the more daring among us, chilies? Yeap, all of the above. And also fondant-type centres in chocolates, like strawberry filling. Oh, and peanut butter. What was your favouritest job ever, and why? I loved working as a publicity & communications officer at a small charity. But hopefully my favourite jobs are still ahead of me as I'm about to start training to become a therapist. What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? Yes, although for the past goddess knows how many years I've mainly been reading study related stuff... I love Alice Sebold's books, Gaiman's Neverwhere, Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series (my guilty pleasure), autobiographical accounts of people's experiences in psychoanalysis/psychotherapy. What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween? I don't get trick or treaters here so I don't stock up really, but I always keep chocolate for any chocolate related emergencies. What are your phobias? I used to be phobic of spiders but I'm a lot better about it now. I still don't like anything spider related, though (although a picture of a small, cute spider on a Halloween card is absolutely fine!). I also have emetophobia - fear of vomiting/of others vomiting. What is your favourite flower (or plant)? Roses. Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? They're not really very "me" at all, no. An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. What do you do with the money? Some really good quality clothes for sure, and probably crafty items and probably a gift for my mum. Who likes coloring books? Well, I like to colour in rubber stamped images with mica based watercolours... so maybe that counts. You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? I usually have something homecooked in the freezer. Or I might get a take-away pizza, naughty naughty me... If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it? I would definitely do up the bathroom with the walls and floor tiled with new tiles, a huge mirror and shelves, and some black/dark burgundy accessories and decorations. Oh hai Witchy! You are a saint for wading through all this self-indulgent prattle... Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods? I am a sucker for Japanese block prints, ukiyo-e - Hiroshige and Hokusai, anything involving the sea, snow or rain... I love botanical prints, and old advertising posters - especially Chicago/Columbian Exposition & railway travel posters like this. My favorite painting, I think, is Breton's The Song of the Lark. When we lived in Chicago & had an Institute membership, I would go to the museum just to visit it. It's much bigger than the link really captures - big enough to get lost in. I love the light, the colors, that look of rapt attention, how the girl is completely transported, however briefly, away from work & hardship by the liquid twitter of the lark... I also adore the book, for what it's worth Cranberries? Oh yes. In all shapes, sizes & formats! Do you mind receiving used (in good condition, of course) CDs or DVDs? As long as it's playable, I actually prefer used - the bulk of our extensive collection of music & movies is second-hand. Do you have a crush on anyone famous? It may well smell like utter fail on me, but the association with my childhood is too strong to not at least try to find it... Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? I have a few Weenies on my wishlist, yes... What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it? Autumn in PA is actually pretty nice - it's a long, slow slide into winter, unlike Chicago (2 weeks between tropical heat & bone-chilling cold). We live in a part of the state that does a lot of harvest festivals, corn mazes, pick-your-own apples, and the like. We're just on the edge of the Appalachian foothills, so there are lots of nice rolling hills that showcase the changing leaves - if we get a sudden cold snap, the colors really pop. The weather fluctuates a lot, so I'll have both my wooly socks and my floaty summer skirts in rotation for a while. I love when the nights get chilly - lots of folks have backyard firepits/chimenias around here, and there's nothing like the smell of maple wood smoke Trader Joe's? I'm more of a Treasure Island kind of girl... anyone? Any Amy Brown art fans? Cute, but ultimately not quite my style... How do you feel about Halloween music? (mix CDs, what have you) Gads, no. I worked FAR too long in retail to enjoy seasonal music, as a whole. Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland? I am conflicted. The promo pictures look freakishly over-processed - I hope it's not that garishly CG... Now, Where the Wild Things Are, on the other hand... Is there a store that you love which does not have a location near you (but that has a physical presence somewhere, not just online? Why do you love it so much? Cost Plus/World Market! Imported goodies, pick-your-own 6-packs, really interesting Christmas decorations, no-brainer last-minute gifts... Mitsuwa, Patel Brothers, all the great ethnic stores in Chicago... If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? Very unlikely, but on the rare chance I get the TV to myself, it's very likely LotR - either the movie or the Making Of documentaries. @#^&%#$* emoticons...... Is there ONE scent that you are just dying for from the Halloween update? I'd say Boo but I'm in an awesome arrangement to get some sent my way. So, my answer is Lambs-Wool. I dismissed it originally but reading the reviews is making it look better and better. Also, I have a decant of Pumpkin V on its way to me but I'm expecting to love it and need a bottle. Leftover Weenie decants? Sure! I'm pretty much anything on my wishlist. Lambs-Wool, Mircalla, Countess Karnstein, Pumpkin IV, Feeding The Dead, Falling Leaf Moon, Trevor Bruttenhelm... all things I'd love to get decants of. any amy brown art fans? ME! If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? Probably the food network. I love shows like Top Chef (I know that's a Bravo show) or Chopped or those awesome cake challenges... I also like NCIS and CSI but I've watched those so much I can usually tell what episode it is in the first 30 seconds. lolcats....yeah or nay? sure. They're funny and cute sometimes but I don't look at them everyday. if your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both? either, both... Well, here in MD we usually have a few weeks of nice, fall weather then it freezes. I love those beautiful, cool fall days where you can just look up at all the trees changing color and breathe in the fresh air. I like it cool enough for a sweatshirt, but not cold enough for a heavy coat. What's your favorite product(s) at Trader Joe's? never been there. For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies? either Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? sure! I think there are some little coin case/pill box things on my etsy wishlist... Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? phoenixes. And to a lesser extent, butterflies (the yellow and black ones you sometimes see.) What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with, and why? phoenixes, I don't really know why. there's just something about them. Do you have a favorite poem or poet? I have a book of poetry by a Vietnamese woman who wrote poetry in a time very few women were educated. Those poems are so beautiful to me. Favorite musicals? Avenue Q, Evita, The Phantom of the Opera Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? Hmmmm, I'd say lust but I don't think it really fits. Sloth maybe? I have seen a lot of yankee candles haters..... personally i like yankee candle (some of them, anyway). do you or don't you, and if not, what candles do you like? this assumes you like candles. otherwise, what specific home fragrance do you use? I don't recall ever using a Yankee candle. I'd love to give them a try. I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes. sounds awesome! Sock dreams? I've never ordered anything from them but I really want to! Would you like to receive something of this nature from your witch? black box/diva boxes *shrug* I'm kind of indifferent about it. My hair is still pretty short right now (shoulder length) but I'm growing it out. Though my hair is very fine and thin so keep that in mind. Hair sticks have never worked for me (maybe I'm just doing it wrong?) And my hair just slides right out of a lot of clips and stuff. Do you mind artificial colors in your food artificial colors are fine, no artificial sweeteners please. How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? fur and feathers kinda squick me. leather is okay though. How do you deal with stress? What's your favorite way to unwind? Chilling out and watching something mindless with a good cup of coffee. Or reading the forum. Being on here always makes me feel good. Alcohol: none for me thanks. Favorite Cookie: cream cheese chocolate chip. But, in chocolate chip in general. Especially the soft chewy ones. Tracking number?: yes please! I love to stalk! Do you wear lip gloss/lip balm? If so, what flavors/scents? YES! Love lip glass, lip balm, all that. The only flavor/scent I would not like is licorice. (Does licorice lip glass actually exist?) Everything else is okay. Would you object to annonomous postcards (real ones) from your witch before the big reveal??? That would be super awesome! If I were your witch, and I wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? And, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? Or would you want it for a certain element? Or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? Something for good luck I suppose. That's always good. What is one thing you constantly keep with you that you constantly loose? I always keep my cell phone with me. As silly as that sounds. And I'm always loosing chapsticks. What are your favorite fruits? Mmmmmm, fruit. I love me some fruit. Strawberries, oranges, apples (the tart green ones are best), pineapples, grapes (again the green ones are best), pears... the list goes on... Do you like Villainess soaps? New round of Switchwitchery means new questions...

...and answers. So here is the first round of Fall 09 questions I'm trying to catch up, well before the round even begins! What are everyone's favorite Halloween-y/Autumn-y/spooky movies? Are there any you don't own but would like to? Hmmm...I don't know...I like spooky but not much real horror as it is usually too gory for me. I guess I'm pretty much covered on this. Are roasted pumpkin seeds and home made chex mix the best fall snack foods, or what? I could eat the roasted pumpkin seeds, but chex mix (which is delicious) would send my blood sugar soaring, so, no thanks. Whats your favorite pie, my dear SW's? I love pie, but it's another of the things diabetics (and people who are seriously close to being diabetic, like me) shouldn't really eat. That said, my favorites are coconut cream, raspberry or blackberry, and raspberry rhubarb. Oh, and lemon cream too. Oh there were so many. I find pie much preferable to cake. What kinda socks are you wearing tonight? No socks...not cold enough yet. Actually, I pretty much only wear socks when I'm wearing boots, which would mean out of the house. Otherwise, wooly slippers do the trick. And wooly flip flops, which I'm wearing now. Do you like socks? Blankets? Wrist warmers? Arm warmers? Headband? Shawl? Or what kind of knitted thing would you love the most? I love socks, though, see above, I only wear them when I'm out of the house. Don't let that stop you from thinking of them as a possibility though--I've been very very envious of those getting sock dream gifts or, even better, hand knit socks! Do you like to tell the old tales around a campfire? Read true accounts on the web way past your bedtime? Do you like to pick up a good anthology of Poe stories on a blustery day? Or is all that too scary for you? I LOVE ghost stories, esp. true ones. My last Witch was Kristana, the ghost hunter (ok, paranormal investigator) and she sent me her book, which I read straight through right away. Who here is LOVING Warehouse 13? Haven't watched it yet, but maybe it is time. Nother question! Coffee or Tea? Both, but at the moment, coffee would get more use. Love it. Dark roast. whole bean. Flavors? No nuts. But cinnamon or some other spice, or vanilla, or chocolate would be lovely. Interested in locally produced products? Food, skincare or both? Sure! Does anyone in here wear a lot of dangly earrings or collect pendants of all kinds? How about hair clips or pony tail band things? Pendants, yes. I love dangly earrings but can't remember the last time I wore earrings, so they probably wouldn't get much play. What is your favourite historical period? This one. Hmmm....I'm not interested in historical periods per se, but history does interest me, esp. American history. What other hot beverages everyone likes for fall? Cider is delish. Did you order anything from the most recent update? Not yet. But I know there is stuff I want. I will probably order some weenies, but in case my witch is feeling flush and wants to send me some, I'll update my wishlist by indicating which ones I'm likely to order or have ordered. Olive oil? Oh yeah. And flavored vinegar. Yum. Lavender? No. Well, that means I don't like it in fragrance. I like it as a seasoning, and I love fresh lavender, like if my witch wanted to somehow miraculously send me a real lavender plant through the mail I would with great delight plant it in my herb garden. Dried lavender sprigs are saved for purpose magical and mundane. But I hate the way it smells in perfume. Vampires or Werewolves? Or some other monster? Oh...zombies. One of these days I will buy the zombie survival guide (or won't--it may be one of those things I want but never buy). I like werewolves if they are really creatures that turn into wolves. Any Gamers here? What kind? Board games? RPG? Miniature? MMORPG? I like board games. RPG and MMORPG are fun but I'm not playing any now unless unicreatures counts. Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose? A fox fetish and an owl fetish. a book of my poetry (it might bit folded, but...). Photos of my dogs. a black leather glove. Frankincense and copal resin. The Voodoo Tarot of New Orleans. Feathers. A mix CD. A bit of dirt from the Santuario at Chimayo NM. Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? Too many. Since I'm a writer, there are so many on-going projects: a memoir. A collection of short stories. And this year I'm going to do nanowrimo since I have not one but two genre novels to try out. Also I'm learning to sew and play the djembe and paint with acrylics. My life is a work in progress! Is anyone playing this round of SW into ABJ? I love looking at pics of them, and have to admit a desire to have one, but probably won't ever get one. favorite kind or take out kinda burger? whats your burger preference? veggie,meat or ???? I love burgers. My fave are from a local bar, called the black and blue burger: blackened burger with blue cheese. I prefer gourmet burgers. Whats your favorite childhood toy? stuffed animals, books, a simple bouncy rubber ball, and my bike. If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? My dogs would love gifts, but the German Shepherd shouldn't eat grains, though the other two can. Kai would love a bouncy ball. The shibas would love anything, but don't need anything, and will be seriously interested in any packages whether it includes anything for them or not. Do you Tweet? What is your Twitter name? No. I think it would annoy me. Are you on Ravelry? What is your Ravelry name? I don't knit. Would any witches be interested in home-made sewn type crafts? If so, what type? (e.g. tote bags, pillowcases, laptop covers, etc..) I love homemade stuff, and anything my witch wanted to come up with would be mightly appreciated. I could use a couple more Tarot bags, probably.

What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? Several, actually. Antique Lace. Troll. White Rabbit. March Hare. And there are the ones I haven't even tried yet... Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? Sure! In your perfect world it is chocolate and...? Chocolate is kind of "meh" for me...I enjoy it but don't crave it. But I like it with caramel. Or peanut butter. How do you scent your home Tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? Candles, kind of, meaning I always need them and like scented ones, but I don't rely on them for scent. I use incense and BPTP (and other) atmosphere sprays.

*Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? I have one, but I could use another. It only needs to hold about 6 imps. I'm crazy about little containers in general.... *As a witchee, would you prefer to have many little packages sent to you throughout the round with a not-so-big final package or fewer things throughout the round with one HUGE final package to seal the sweetness? I'm fine with whatever works for my witch. *What is your idea of the perfect evening at home? After a good dinner with the BF, a good book, and me curled up on the couch with Toby, my dog, sleeping on the back of the sofa. With a good beer. *How often do you update your wishlist? - Not as often as I should. As of this date, my dear witch, I have not updated them, and my BPAL wishlist in particular is out of date. I will do it in the next couple of days. *May I help you fill out your costuming wardrobe (assuming you costume)? Haitian, African, Mexican and Native American. I love artists with a folk art feel. Wishlists I have removed those on my bpal list that i have tried but as i am preggers i would appreciate not geting anything from that list. I updated the amazon one recently but i think i was in pregancy hunger brain when i did so. i should prolly go throw some baby stuff on it soon though. There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate? I love haribo gummi bears and cola gummies. I am also very fond of the haw candies i can get at the asian market along with the fruit gummies i get there like the muscat ones. Do you have a Blu-Ray player? nope Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? Is your internet connection fast enough for you to download large files like music easily? Are there any songs, albums, movies, or TV shows that you can't find/haven't been released that you want? i dont neccesarily object i just would prefer not because if i really really had wanted it that bad i would have gotten it myself. I do like mix cd's though. What's your favorite pain-relief remedy or ritual? Well for migraines i take a can of dew and knock myself out in a dark room Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? some sounds do. i like rainfall when i'm not out in it and thunder at a distance. on the other hand the sound of white noise drives me bonkers. When you receive your SW packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? I can go either way on this. just as long as there is some communication. ya know a e-card to show that i did get assigned someone. Switch Witch Answers - Fall 2009

Do you like socks? Blankets? Wrist warmers? Arm warmers? Headband? Shawl? Or what kind of knitted thing would you love the most? Yes, yes, yes! The one thing I cannot live without is my couch blanket! Literally, I sit on the couch with a blanket year-round. I'm also a big fan of socks, gloves, and scarves. How do you feel about ghost stories? Does anyone remember that grade school book fair staple Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark? Man I loved that book. The scary axe murderer in the backseat, the babysitter getting phone calls from inside the house, dying of fright in a graveyard.... That's good stuff. Coffee or Tea? I drink my weight in tea every day. I'm a huge fan. I like coffee too, but I only drink decaf. Olive Oil? I use a lot of olive oil Lavender? Oh yes please. Does anyone in here wear a lot of dangly earrings of collect pendants of all kinds?? How about hair clips or ponytail band things? I like earrings, dangly included. I also use a lot of hair things like clips and bands. I have a lot of hair! What is your favorite historical period? I'm drawn to the Civil War period, mostly because I am fascinated by the history. I read Shelby Foote's massive set of Civil War history books, and loved every minute. Once I tagged along on my husband's business trip to DC, and drove myself to almost every battlesite on the East Coast. This is impressive because I suck something fierce at navigation! Vampires or Werewolves? Hmmm. Werewolves kinda scare me. Seems like you could reason with a vampire. Therefore, vampires. Any gamers here? Absolutely. I am a video game junkie. I love RPG style games with a great story. Some of my favorites are the Tales Series (Symphonia, Vesperia, ect) and anything by BioWare (KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect). I also love the Legend of Zelda games!!! My husband and I (no exaggerating) own every single Nintendo console ever made. Favorite Color? Orange. This is troublesome since both of my biggest college football rivals wear orange. If you wear orange in my town, you can absolutely expect to get heckled. Do you like pinup art/images? I guess I'm kind of indifferent. I do like them, but don't necessarily seek them out. Who are your BPAL forum buddies? I haven't been posting long enough to cultivate any yet. I'm trying to get more involved by doing things like this. What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? We used to dress up and go to Rocky Horror every year at a cool little theater here, but they stopped showing it a couple of years ago. So now I just stay home and hand out candy. Describe your ideal picnic lunch. Man, I'm such a spoilsport, but have this weird aversion to eating outside. I just don't like to do it, and my husband says I'm terribly unromantic. My ideal picnic is getting a window table at a restaurant! Steampunk? Yes! I really like the idea and style of steampunk. I actually never knew what steampunk was until I got into BPAL, and I liked the Steamworks art so much that the first imp I ever ordered was Violet Ray. You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? Truth? I'm probably gonna run to Sonic and grab a hamburger. I'm just lazy like that. What is your favorite Halloween icon? I like spiders/spiderwebs. Also ghosts. What's your burger preference? I like a good mushroom and swiss burger. Actually, my favorite fast food sandwich ever was the Hardee's Hot Ham and Cheese, but we don't have any Hardee's restaurants here anymore. Favorite childhood toy? Transformers! My first crush ever was on Optimus Prime, and the modern movies just break my heart because they changed a lot of my favorite things. I was also a huge fan of She-Ra. If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? I have two dog-sons, Brutus J and Oliver. Cool collars are always good, and those really tough Kong toys. Oliver can skeletonize a regular toy in 3 minutes flat. Also, we are forever having to get their name tags remade, because the cheapo ones just get scratched up so easily. If you could redecorate one room in your home? Actually, we are currently converting a spare bedroom into a swanky little wine room/den. The walls are plum-colored, we have two cool camel-colored recliners, and we just found a killer deal on two wine refrigerators. We're looking for all types of wine-themed stuff to finish it off. Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for? YES! I am a huge college football fan. I just watched my beloved Sooners lose their opening game. I'm also huge into college basketball. Favorite animal? Dogs! Favorite flower? Stargazer lilies, orchids, irises Phobias? I don't know if this counts as a phobia, but I HATE misty water in my face. Like when it's just barely spitting rain and you have to walk somewhere outside. I'm also pretty claustrophobic. This is how the world ends... zombie apocalypse, robot uprising, alien invasion, return of the elder gods... which doomsday scenario do you prefer (or make your own!)? Well, I'm not sure about the whole world, but I'm pretty sure one of these days the US is going to get wiped off the map when that Yellowstone volcano erupts. In the year 2525... if man is still alive... what sort of future do you imagine? Hmmm. I tend to believe that old cliché the more things change, the more they stay the same. In 500 years time, there will no doubt be a million fantastic new advances in medicine, technology, transportation, ect. I think there's a good chance that humans will be living longer, and perhaps looking much more bionic. Buildings will keep getting bigger and taller. Maybe some of us will even be living in space. And could someone please invent the flying car already? But it's also inevitable that big leaps forward will bring new challenges and troubles that we can't even fathom yet. Maybe the longer lifespan of humans will make planet overcrowding a major problem, or will introduce new late manifesting diseases (like heart disease to us, for instance). On the outside it will be different, but I think the struggles of humanity will always follow a recognizable pattern. Do you believe in magic (or magick, if you prefer)? What does it mean to you? I think the fact that we exist on this planet is magic. I think the fact that this planet exists in our universe is magic. On a smaller scale, I feel like being in the exact right place at the exact right time to meet my husband was magic. Yes, I definitely think it's all around us. If you found the puzzle box from Hellraiser, what would you do with it? (and would you be able to resist playing with it?) As much as I like puzzles, I'm leaving that bad boy alone. How would you spend $500? I'd buy the Snake Pit. Then I'd give the rest to my husband to buy video games. Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? Unfortunately, I don't get to read as much as I'd like right now due to school. I really love the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, and the Harry Potter series of course. I actually read more non-fiction than anything. Superpower? I wish I could control time. I always feel like it's slipping away. If I send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? I use preground coffee. I wish I had a grinder though... Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? Skates on an ice rink, my dog snoring, the garage door opening (hubby's home!), chalk writing on a chalkboard How do you scent your home Tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? Do they have a specific name? I could also use a bigger tea chest, as mine is bursting at the seams. Wrapping is cool, but I'd never begrudge anyone for not doing it! What fictional character do you identify most with and why? Although not incredibly original, mine is probably Hermione Granger. I love learning, and I have a tendency to look at every situation from an academic standpoint. I also have a tendency to be an ego-trip know-it-all sometimes. But I'm fiercely loyal to those I love, and I would probably do just about anything for anyone, regardless of what it cost me personally. Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? Yes, that would be great! I usually have around 5-6 imps in my purse at any given time. Do you have a blu-ray player? No What's something you're really looking forward to in the semi-near future? We're going to Las Vegas in December, and I'm bursting at the seams to get back there. We used to go multiple times a year, but it's been over a year since our last trip. What was your favoritest job ever, and why? I actually haven't had a lot of jobs in my life. I worked in my mom's accounting firm in high school (HATED that), at a mall shoe store during college (lot of bad memories from that), as a nuclear medicine technologist out of college, and now in radiation safety. I guess in a pure sense, I liked the nuc med job best, but couldn't deal with all the hospital bureaucracy garbage. I don't have a lot of ancillary junk with the radiation safety job, but I really miss working with patients. *Shrugs* Are there any childhood shows/movies/games/books/ect. that still hold a really special place in your heart? The Pokey Little Puppy! I wore that book down to a nub. What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? GC: Yvaine!! Also O. I just keep not trying it for some reason. LE: I'd love to try Ice Queen or Skadi, but I don't pursue them because of the rarity. What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why? Winter Holiday Stress Relief. I adore the bath oil, but the perfume is rare and tough to find. I like the idea of little gifts along the way, but I'll honestly be happy with whatever my Witch wants to do! Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods? I'm a big fan of Munch, Klimt, Picasso, and DaVinci's journal sketches (Vitruvian Man, ect.). Also, we visited St. Petersburg, Russia this summer, and I was completely blown away by the art there. Not so much the traditional art in the Hermitage (although standing in front of so many Rembrants was pretty amazing), but the mosaic art in the churches. The Church on Spilled Blood just sucked the breath right out of my lungs when we walked in. My house is full of art by one of my high school friends who is a pretty prominent local artist here. I love supporting local artists! Do you believe that we control our destiny, or does destiny control us? Both. I think that we make tons of decisions each day – from as trivial as what to eat for lunch to as important as whether to ask someone on a date - that represent us controlling our own destiny. Those decisions then branch out over and over (the food that you ate gave you food poisoning which caused you to miss work which caused you to get fired), which is destiny controlling us. What one thing that is missing from your life would you like to have above all else? I'm actually pretty lucky in that I don't feel like there is a lot missing in my life. I guess I'd like to have a better relationship with my sister. We were so close as kids, and for some reason grew worlds apart as adults. My husband and I have a ritual on Friday nights. We get a nice wine, cook a nice dinner, and spend the evening watching something fun on TV with a warm little buzz going on, knowing that we don't have to go to work for two days. I look forward to it all week. How often do you update your wishlist? I've been trying to update it pretty regularly (once or twice a week). I caved a few weeks ago and got on facebook. Feel free to friend me up! Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? I'm kind of a purist about downloads. I use iTunes exclusively for music, and I don't watch a lot of movies. *Hint for my witch – I iTunes gifties!* You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab? Probably some nuts or sugar-free jello. I don’t really snack much. Your one absolute favorite, BPAL: For now it’s Sunbird. I have a hunch about Under the Harvest Moon though… Do you have a favorite BPAL bottle art? I really love the Sleepy Hollow series from Halloween '07. Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? I would like to try some of the Hellboy scents. I think I’ve got everything else that I want coming in decants. What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it? Autumn, what's that? Hah! Seriously, in Oklahoma spring and fall just wave hi on their way to another state. Although I don't know where they go, because it seems like a lot of people here are in a similar situation. We are having some unseasonably fall-ish weather right now though, which is nice. It's usually still miserably hot in September. If you're caught in front of the TV, what are you watching? Family Guy, Futurama, The Daily Show, Southpark. I love irreverent, raunchy humor! I have also really gotten into Fringe, as I have been mourning the X-Files for about 7 years now. How do you feel about Halloween music? Mmmmm... Not really a huge fan. Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland? I'm not a movie person, but this actually looks pretty good! I will pretty much see any movie with Johnny Depp, because I think he's scrumtrulescent. Lolcats....yeah or nay? I hate to admit it, but I find some of these to be quite hilarious. For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies? I love handcrafted things! I used to be really into quilting, but I just don’t have a lot of time to do it anymore due to school commitments. So sadly, craft supplies would be wasted on me right now. Do you have a favorite poem or poet? I’m a huge fan of poetry, with Pablo Neruda being my favorite. In lieu of songs, I had two of his poems read at my wedding: Sonnet XVII (I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz…) and Sonnet LXIX (Maybe nothingness is to be without your presence…). Oh how I love him. My other favorites include George Gordon Byron, Edna St. Vincent Millay and e e cummings. One of my very favorite poems is The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes. I read it in high school, and have been captivated by it ever since. Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? Yes, coins are forever rattling around in the bottom of my purse! Any songs you are desperately into at the moment? I just discovered Regina Spektor (not sure why it took me so long), and I am really into Sampson right now. Would you like to receive something of this nature (sweet diva boxes) from your witch? Sure! Super villain or vigilante? Probably vigilante. I just don't have any desire for world domination, but I could probably get behind handing out some justice. Pirate or Ninja? Definitely ninja! I mean, I did skulk around here for a year and a half without posting... I like to be stealthy. Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? Math symbols (infinity, pi, phi, ect.) are a huge part of my life. I particularly love the infinity symbol, because, to me, it represents endless possibilities. Are there any Gods, Goddess, or other mythological figures of whom you're particularly fond? I like mythology, but I don't suppose I ever really got overly attached to any of the figures. Are there any musicals you love? Les Miserables, Phantom, Jekyll and Hyde, South Pacific, Little Shop of Horrors, Evita, My Fair Lady, Man of LeMancha, Chicago, and I could go on all day. Yes, I am a fan of the musical! How broad are your musical tastes? Very, very broad. My father is a music junkie, so I actually grew up listening to both my generation's music and his generation's music. I would probably kick some major butt on one of those music lyric game shows (except for the singing part, which would be epic fail... ). Music is a major escape for me, and one of my greatest pleasures in life. Would a “gift” donation to one of the organizations/causes you support be a great gift, or a lame gift? Great gift! Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? I ask this because I have a weird fascination with the seven deadly sins, and I sort of unofficially collect anything I find that is related to them. My sin is absolutely, unequivocally pride (which is luckily the mother of them all ). I put myself in sticky situations all the time because I'm usually to proud to ask for help, and I often take on too many responsibilities because I don't want people to think that I can't handle everything that is thrown at me. I have a tendency to define myself by my accomplishments before anything else, and I'm self-critical to the point of insanity. Just about everyone in my life tells me that pride is going to kill me one of these days! Who is musically inclined? What instruments (voice counts) do you play? I really wish I could sing. I have this fantasy of being able to actually pull off karaoke, but alas, the genetics were not in my favor. I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes. Cool! I like stuff like that. How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? Anti-fur, leather, shells, etc.? Does even faux wig you out? The only thing that I would probably dislike is real fur. How do you deal with stress? What's your favorite way to unwind? A bottle of wine and something good on TV. I also like baths with fun smellies in them. You're given the opportunity to apprentice at any trade (or craft) of your choosing for the period of one year. Your mentor may be any currently living person. Which field of study would you choose, and who would be your mentor? I have to agree with cam on this one. I’d love to learn how to make wine. As far as a mentor? Well, some of the best wines I’ve ever tasted came from the Glaetzer Winery in the Barossa region of Australia, so I’d probably choose them. Anyone want a nickname and embroidered headband from PandaBite? Okay, I had never heard of this, so I googled it. Yes, definitely! This is too much fun! Do you wear lip gloss/lip balm? If so, what flavors/scents? Yes, I can’t live without it! I actually really like Cocoa Pink’s lip balm, but I don’t even think they make it anymore (plus I’m kinda done with the company in general). I also ordered some Moona lip balm in lavender/chocolate that was amazing. I like flavors that are off the beaten path, as it is tough find non-fruity lip balm. Lusting over anything from the Trading Post lately? Pumpkin Pie bath oil, the Lucy bath oil, any of the GC bath oils, the Phoenix Steamworks tshirt, and I keep waffling about whether to buy a Boadicea set. I have lots of BPTP wants! Do you like Villainess soaps? What are your favorite scents? Yes, oh yes. Canaan, Pyromania, Gingersnapped, and Antihero are my GC faves. I will try pretty much every Black Label soap that Villainess releases! Anyone ready for the new carnaval update? Yes! Are you into 80s movies (like i am ) if so, which are your favorites and who are your favorite characters? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off = best 80s movie ever!! The Breakfast Club is a classic. Dirty Dancing was the defining chick flick of my generation (how many girls my age used to wear rolled-up jean shorts and Keds with no socks?). Back to the Future, Gremlins, Adventures in Babysitting! I could go on and on. I love 80s movies. What are your favorite fruits? Unfortunately I don’t get to eat fruit anymore. What is one thing you constantly keep with you that you constantly lose? Pens. I have a million pens and I lose them all. Therefore I always need more pens. sock dreams? Sure, that website looks cool! I mostly like the short socks. Who wants hair pretties?(headbands, barrettes, pony-o's, scrunchies, bobby pins, hair clips, etc) I can always use bobby pins and ponytail holders (the plain black kind). I also use small claw clips a lot. Do you drink alcohol? Wine, beer, or liquor? What is your favorite wine/beer/mixed drink? I love wine. I go through phases, but I'm loving Malbec right now, and I've got some nice '05 Bordeaux bottles that I'm trying very hard to age and not drink. I really don't drink beer or other liquor very often. I do like a good Gin. Do you like to find out there's a package on the way or to receive a tracking number to stalk, or do you prefer surprise packages? I do like surprises, but I will defer to my witch's judgment on this one. If Beth made a perfume called “switch witch” what notes would be in it? Predominantly black musk, opopponax, and licorice mixed with bright citrus and ozone. I see it as an eclectic mix of dark and sneaky mixed with cheer and energy. if i were your witch, and i wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? and, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? or would you want it for a certain element? or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? This sounds very nice! I don't know much about this sort of thing, but I like the idea. My current needs? I could really use something relating to patience and perserverance (for school-related stuff), and prosperity is always a good thing. As far as elements, am a Taurus, but have always been much more connected to the fire element. I have never felt like I represent Taurus well. Maybe I should have a full chart done sometime... Would you object to anonymous postcards (real ones) from your witch before the big reveal? Sure! I wasn't sure how this would work, since it's my first SW round, but I'm starting to think that more contact makes it more fun. For you tea drinkers, are you partial to tea bags or loose tea? How about tea paraphernalia? I like and use both tea bags and loose tea. I take tea bags to work with me, and drink loose at home. I am always up for tea paraphernalia! I like teapots and cool little teacups and stuff like that. Which shoes do you own that are your favorite? What are your “daily drivers”? I wear heels or dressy flats to work, but any other time you will find me in flip flops. I've been known to wear flip flops and a coat in the winter! Sometimes, when I'm feeling adventurous, I'll wear a pair of tennis shoes. I'm not exactly a fashionista. WKAP Scents? I ordered BBJ&S and Joyeaux Noel last night. I'm very curious about Occurance at the Diner and Unexpected Gold Hazard. Describe yourself in 5 words Eccentric, Proud, Analytical, Emotional, Generous Are there any languages other than English that you love? When I was in Russia this summer, I fell in love with the language. I also took some French in high school, and would really like to expand on what I already know (which is like, 5 words). I really feel like only speaking one language is a great deficiency in my life, so when I'm finished with grad school I've promised myself that I will take some language classes. I enjoy taking blank esssay-type notebooks and decorating them for journals. Would my witchee be interested? Or would anyone like one for their own witchee (color/decor suggestions taken gladly) I love the idea, but sadly this would be wasted on me. I just don't use journals. Are you an Formula 1 fan and will you like a F1 lanyard (& the pass)? Nope Is there anything you want from the Arcana update? I love Arcana soap, and all of the new ones look fantastic! Perfume-wise, I already purchased Holy Terror but Haint looks interesting. I would also love to try any of the sugar scrubs. What tarot card do you most identify with? At this point in my life, probably the Hermit. What are your thoughts on Halloween decorations? I'm for them! Do you like Celtic things? (Clothes, jewelry, pictures, ect) I think Celtic knotwork is very cool. I probably wouldn't use pictures or clothes though. Would you like more contact from your witch? (I'm talking particularly about email) I put on my questionnaire that I would probably like a medium contact witch, because I was unsure about the whole switch witch process. I've realized now that contact makes this whole thing much more fun. I don't necessarily need emails every day, but an e-card every now and again just to know that my witch is thinking about me would make me smile. I did receive a very cute e-card at the beginning of the round, and it was much appreciated! Can you receive flowers at your address? Not at the address listed in my questionnaire. My husband and I both work during the day, so no one is home! What about 2010 wall calendars? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject? I always need a wall calendar for work. I don't really use journals or schedule books. As far as subjects, I try to find funny stuff like cartoons. Do you use henna at all (hair or skin)? Nope Suppose I have a bottle of something you (my witchee) really wants, and I want to share it with you. Would you like a rollerball bottle made from oil in my own bottle in it? Sure! How many people dress up for Halloween? And, what are you going to be this year? Do you need anything for it? Sadly, no one that I know ever throws any Halloween parties. I have no place to wear costumes. Do you need anything from the Possets update? Oh god, yes. I need waaaaay to much from the Possets update! Do you have a celebrity look a like? I’ve never been told that I look like anyone else, and I can’t really think of anyone myself, so I guess not. What DVD or CD are you embarrassed to admit that you want badly? I have absolutely no shame when it comes to music. Would you like some homemade food from your witch? I eat such a restrictive diet, I’m actually really nervous about food that I don’t make myself. Please don't take offense, witch! I'm just really, really obsessive about what I eat. Plus most of the stuff I eat would probably be difficult to ship! Do you want anything from the Haunt update? I’ve never used anything from Haunt, but it all looks fantastic! I’m always, always interested in being enabled! Comic books/graphic novels? I’ve loved Spiderman since childhood, so I love Spidey anything. What are your feelings towards the Batman Begins or Quantum of Solace movies? Batman was good. I am not a James Bond fan. If you had a machine that could take you to an alternate dimension that you could control or would like, what would be in it, who would be there, and how long would you stay? My alternate reality takes place in a world where I don’t have diabetes, I actually get along with my husband’s family, and I have the time and space to own about 500 dogs. Oh yeah, and I also won the lottery so I can afford to travel the world, or just goof around all day playing video games or doing artsy projects. New BPAL update? I went ahead and ordered Raven Moon and Pa-Pow, but I did add a bunch of Marchen imps to my wishlist. What are your thoughts on masks? They are cool in concept, but I don't really know what I'd do with one. Would you wear a name necklace (like carrie has from sex and the city?) A thousand times no! Do you like/collect any toys? In general, no, but I used to LOVE the Transformers as a kid. I'd actually love to get my hands on an original Optimus Prime, because I totally had a cartoon crush on him. are you going to reveal yourself or do you want your witchee to let you know that they know if they do?? I'm absolutely going to reveal! That seems like a big part of the fun. I'd also love to know who my witch is! When are you planning to send your final/reveal package? I'm trying to decide whether to time my reveal package to arrive on Halloween, or if I should send a little Halloween package and do the reveal at the very end. It's a tough decision. Ever worried my witch won't like her stuff? Yes! I'm always paranoid about that kind of thing. It's the perfectionist in me. Do you all like board games (like Scrabble, Yahtzee, etc)? I do like board games, and I don't have very many at all. I'm a big fan of Trivial Pursuit and Clue.
