Summer SW Questions 6/28

Which flavors are you interested to try from the Chocolate Research Facility?   Ooo, they have so many! I generally like chocolate with nuts and caramel, and especially marzipan.   Do you wear makeup or nail polish? Need brushes, containers, storage, mani/pedi supplies? What colors and brands do you like?   I don't wear makeup other than lip gloss, and my last SW stocked me up on that. I don't usually wear nail polish either since I have to wear gloves at work and wash my hands a million times a day... it doesn't hold up well.   Do you like shiney hanging porch decorations like windchimes or those things that spin and swirl in the wind?   I am sadly without a porch.   Hair adornments?   My hair doesn't really "do"... it's all slippery and doesn't like to stay in a style so the closest I get to an adornment is the occasional black elastic band holding it in a pony tail.   Is there any infomercial product you're dying to try even though you know it probably sucks?   Thankfully I've managed to avoid infomercials.   What are your favorite websites (besides this one, and the online shops you listed in your questionnaire)?   ravelry.com   We have so many talented witches and they really need to promote themselves more so, if you made something by hand for a previous witchee or have an etsy store or some other outlet for hand made goods, will you post it here with pictures or links? Or, if you want to brag on a previous witch's talent, this is the place for that as well.   I made socks for my last witchee, and have done a few for PIF too. I've also swapped knitting for other crafty skills and would be willing to do so again. I don't have an etsy shop since nothing is pre-made (nor would I normally sell my knitting, it just takes too long!) But if you're on Ravelry I'm stariel on there too. Or you can see most of my knitting on my flickr - here's the 2008 Sock Set.   As for previous witches, my witch syrenemyst made me some awesome BPAL boxes!   If you could make your perfect scent (or at least most desired at the moment!) what would be in it?   Hmm... orange blossom, since that is the note that seems to be in many of my loved scents. And after that I don't know. Something sweet and fruity.   So I have a question for the witchees, and hopefully mine will answer as well...In trying to decide what to fix for dinner, I thought that I've received some great recipes from friends (particularly the culinary mastermind that is scotchgrrl). I also have a few great recipes of my own. So would anyone like to receive some original, or very much loved recipes from his/her witch?   I'd be happy to receive any vegetarian recipes.   List things you DO NOT need any more of:   *note that for all of the following if it is something really special (handmade by you or someone you know, really awesome etailer) I'd be happy to receive it, it's just stuff I don't need in general   lip gloss (my last SW set me up for a while!) shower gels / soaps blank books / journals   Is there something that would offend you if you received it in your mail/gift/email)? (as in profanity, a bad words in an email/card/music ... or a card or something with a scantily dressed man/woman pictured on it, crude/immature humor tshirts, etc ...)   Hmm... Well I'm not all that easy to offend, but most of these things just aren't really my style. Profanity is ok in music if you think I'll love the music, otherwise it's best to avoid. Scantily dressed people of either gender don't really offend me, but they're also not my cup of tea. And crude/immature humor just isn't funny to me. In fact, most of the things that are supposed to be funny aren't to me. I think I just have a very odd / dry sense of humor. But certainly none of these on a t-shirt!   What do you like to snack on?   Kettle Korn, I'm obsessed. Other than that mostly beverages - I'm a big fan of coffee milk tea and Thai iced tea this time of year, and chai during the winter.   What is the color scheme you use most when you decorate?   Blue, blue, and blue. Yeah, mostly everything around here is blue, other than the walls which are beige but not by my choice.   If you have music or DVD's on your wishlist, do you mind getting a burned copy? How about if it is original packaging but previously used? Or do you only want it new?   Used is fine, but I'd rather not have a burned copy. I like to have the artwork for CDs and DVDs.   Who is your favorite artist? What are some of your favorite pieces of their work?   This is such a tough question! I am a fan of Escher and some of the less weird Dali paintings - I used to have a poster of one with butterflies and their shadows. And Starry Night, for obvious reasons.   Are you a candles person, incense person, or just a BPTP spritzer for room scents?   Candles are great, I'm not a big fan of incense, and I've never had BPTP room sprays.   What is your favorite latin or faux latiny phrase?   I don't think I have one!   How are you doing for BPAL storage? Need any boxes?   My last SW made me some beautiful boxes, but I wouldn't mind some more imp storage.   Is there any place you've visited where you feel like you left your heart there?   Norway. I studied abroad there in college and still have friends that I keep in contact with occasionally. I hope to go back and visit soon.   What one item would you just love to have that is made by a Switch Witch?   Hmm... another hard question. I'll probably appreciate almost anything made by my witch!   Is your abode a palace covered in fur, a disaster area ,or a neat freaks delight?   Currently it's a fur-covered disaster area, but now that I have a new vacuum and will have weekends off work it should be getting better.   Are there any phobias you have that you absolutely, positively, do NOT want anything from your witch referencing?   Not phobias really, but I'm not a fan of clowns.   Are you a good witch or a bad witch?   I'd like to say I'm a bad witch, but I'm a total goody two shoes.   What kind of a car do you drive and would you want something you could use in your car? Rear view mirror charms, steering wheel covers (a new thinkg for the knitters ), car blessing medicine bags   I don't have a car, so no car things necessary.   Do you want to know when you have something coming in the mail, or would you rather it be a complete surprise?   Either way is fine. I don't really care much about surprises so if you want to warn me I'd be glad to know.   What is your mailbox situation?   I have a small locking mailbox but most packages won't fit in there - my mail carrier usually just leaves them outside my door. If the package is meltable and it's possible you might want to try to time it to arrive on a Saturday. Or I'm sure there's a way to mark it not to leave? Then I'll have to go retrieve it at the PO, but that's fine with me.

Delphi

Imp #22: Delphi   "The smoke of Sacred Incense of Apollo twined through laurel branches, bay, and honey wine."   Note: Very end of cycle. Imp from littleone101701's sales.   In the bottle: Laurel and bay with honey in the background. This is heady and a bit smokey.   On me: The honey steps up a little, and the scent is less green. The notes are more blended. It is becoming more like what I hoped for, but less incense than I expected. I had expected this to be the dark cave of the oracle, but it is the bright day on the field of Olympic competition.   1 hour+ later: Smokier, but still bright. Not much change from initial dry down. I think this will be a good scent to wear to work, as it is not as sultry as Athens.

Athens

Imp #21: Athens   "A reformulation and modernization of a true Classical Greek perfume, myrrhine: voluptuous myrrh, golden honey, red wine, and sweet flowers."   Note: Very end of cycle. Imp from littleone101701's sales.   In the bottle: Very sweet but also a tiny bit sour in a good way, like a Flemish sour, which happens to be one of my favorite styles of beer. There is something deep, but the honey jumps out at me, followed by the flowers, making this a bright scent.   On me: Out comes that sour that I like - the wine? -- and especially a spiciness -- myrrh?   1 hour+ later: Still spicy with a light sweetness and light floral. The floral notes remind me of Sea of Glass, but here they are accompanied by a spicy red wine. To me, this scent is a summer evening drinking red wine in the temple gardens.

Salomé

Imp #20: Salomé   "A scent that is both coquettish and sinister. Exotic and lush, brimming with grace and viciousness: almond with star jasmine, oakmoss, red sandalwood and Egyptian musk."   Note: End of cycle. Imp from fruitycake's sales.   In the bottle: The sandalwood and musk are strong, with an undercurrent of almond. It invokes a closed room with curtains drawn but fluttering and sandalwood burning in a brazier.   On me: The almond and jasmine come forward, blended together to create one scent that is both and neither. They do not step far forward, and are anchored by the woodiness of the oakmoss & sandalwood and the musk, like a girl dancing in the flickering light and obscuring smoke of the brazier.   1 hour+ later: I really like this. It is what I was hoping for from Scherezade.

An hedgehog in my garden

Last night, a friend of mine came, we walked around, had an ice cream, and when she was supposed to go home, we stood in the parking area and talked a lot. We noticed an hedgehog wandering in my garden: so cute! It's not really a garden, it's really unkempt and almost wild: but in spring it's covered with violets, and sprinkled with primroses. There are tits feeding on fir cones, and goldfinches on maple seeds, and sometimes a squirrel.

Switch Witch questions as of 6/23/09

So many questions! It's almost intimidating. But I will do my best.   Anyone reading an amazing book right now? ........Not really What socially respsonsible site would you recommend to ALL Witches?.......Can't think of one What is your favorite anime, or if you don't like that what is your favorite animated series? Do you like villians that are funny because they are meant to be, or are you like me and love the villian that just can't seem to get his evil schemes to work?......... I like Miyazaki and I'm open minded to learning more about/watching good quality anime. Tea. How do you feel about it?........ LOVE it. All kinds. Admittedly, I am a bit of a tea snob; I prefer loose tea or whole leaf bagged. would my future witchee like to receive steampunk style jewelry?.......... No, I'm not into steampunk. Does your feline like catnip? ........What cat doesn't? Salt soap bars (soap made with a large quantity of salt, like salt-scrub-in-a-bar)? .......I prefer non-scrubby soaps with smooth lather. Please note, I am a HUGE fan of soap -- homemade, e-tailer, etsy, what have you. Love, love, love it. How would you feel about homemade jelly/jam from home-grown berries? .........Sounds awesome! Homemade dill pickles? Made from cukes, beans, snap peas, baby zucchini? .........That, I could probably live without. What about the room sprays?.........I've never tried any. Would love to try any of them except the uber-floral or minty, or citrusy ones. How would you feel about an ultra-girlie shawl or wrap in summer-weight (lace)?........I don't really wear shawls What would you think of hand-dyed items?........Sounds good So, I hear you don't like lacy wraps! How do you feel about hand-knit socks?...........OK! ***6/17*** What kinds of crafts does everyone either enjoy making or enjoy getting? Do you have a certain type of handmade item that you love to collect? Socks, boxes, jewelry, dolls etc?............I like jewelry and boxes. Not into dolls. Clearly, vegans are not into soaps with honey or milk, etc. But, if you're NOT a vegan how would you feel about soaps made with emu oil? Squicked out/concerned about animal cruelty, or willing to try them?.........I'm not a vegan (or even a vegetarian) and I'm not put off by emu oil or other animal products. I eat honey, drink milk, etc. Do not be concerned about offending me in this area!

Still more questions answered for my Witch!

Questions by my witch (who has been very busy!):   Nail polish, yes or no? And if yes, what are your color preferences? Yes! Caramels and dusky pinks. Natural colours rather than bright ones, though.   Who is your favorite book character from a book? Oh, this is a tough one - there are so many! Um... Okay, I'll narrow it down to three:   1. Phedre no Delaunay from Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel sextet: sexy, sub, and strong, with a thirst for knowledge and the wisdom to know when to use it.   2. Esmay Suiza from Elizabeth Moon's Serrano Legacy series: competent, conservative, and clever - I love that she grows into herself through the course of the last four books of the series.   3. Mara of the Acoma from Janny Wurtz/Raymond E Feist's Daughter of the Empire series: intelligent, political, and innovative - taking her House from the verge of extinction to the highest honour in the Empire.   What is your biggest pet peeve? I have many. Uh, people who enter a debate, but don't bother running their posts through spellcheck. If you want people at a high standard to listen to your words, then you have to aim for their standard of writing and arguing. Someone might have an IQ of 163, but if they can't be bothered to use the basics of language and grammar in communication, then they might as well not be in the debate at all...   And the general ones!   Honey? Love it. All types and kinds. It would have to be vacuum-sealed though, and quite obviously clear, because I’m not sure if there are customs requirements that forbid honeys and stuff coming through to Australia.   Coffee? I do love coffee, but it would have to be pre-ground; we don’t have a grinder, and short of tipping a whole bag of beans into the hopper at work, there’s no point in me getting smaller bags.   Tarot art? Not really. The art might be interesting if it was in a style I liked - say, art nouveau - but divination is not my thing.   Is your abode a palace covered in fur, a disaster area, or a neat freaks delight? A disaster area. The fur is incidental. My kitty, she is tabby and each individual fur is striped black and white and brown. No matter what I wear, I’m fairly certain to be doomed to have fur show up on it...   Mailbox sitch? Uh, the way it works down here is that letters and most padded mailers go in the mailbox. If there’s a box that’s too big to fit in, then the local post office slips you a card to say, ‘come pick up your stuff’. If it’s a registered post, or something you have to sign for, then, again, the local post office slips you a card to say ‘come sign for your stuff’.   BPAL storage? I could do with a box to keep my bottles in! The GC imps I keep in a partitioned toolbox by alphabetical name, with separate ones for the LEs and rares. It doesn’t look very elegant, but it’s functional and easy to carry along to M’nSs!   I left my heart in... I've travelled a lot, but I've never left my heart anywhere. The cities of the world are great to visit and the wonders off the beaten track are beautiful to behold, but the only place that calls me back each time is home.   I’m always travelling - I love being free! And so I keep leaving the sun and the sea. But my heart lies waiting over the foam... I still call Australia home!

Summer SW Questions 6/25

Are you interested in Tarot or Tarot art?   I think some Tarot cards are pretty, but that's about it.   What would you think of soap samples/shampoo bar samples? (I believe the latter can be used as soap if you are not shampoo bar inclined). Or other sample sized bath/beauty products, for that matter?   I rarely use bar soap and I'm not really a fan of solid shampoo.   What about burnables as in candles, tarts and/or incense?   I am a fan of scented or beeswax candles, but I have quite a few.   Who knits? Do you also spin and dye? What supplies, that you wouldn't buy for yourself, would you just love to have for that activity?   I knit and spin and occasionally dye. I think I have all of the supplies I need - I've been a bit indulgent lately. But if my witch is dying to get me something knit-spin related I wouldn't mind a pretty orifice hool / WPI tool for spinning. Otherwise I'm really doing just fine.   Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast?   I only drink coffee-flavored beverages, like mochas and such, and I don't make coffee at home.   So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Are there any other knitted goods you might like? Lap blanket? Fingerless gloves? Arm warmers? Little knitted animals? Silk scarf? Head band? Wrist cuff? Dish clothes?   I'd appreciate any knitting gift, though I think knitted dish cloths are just too pretty to use. Knitted animals would be cute!     Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey....etc.   Hmm... not obsessed, but I do like creamed honey.   What are your favorite materials? Or material things? Some people like jewelry, some like woods, some plants...   I like plants and jewelry and yarn, but I have lots of that...   Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with?   Not that I can think of. I do want to learn to weave, but unless my witch is going to come over I don't think s/he can help me. I already have fabulous books.   Posters, yes or no?   Sure.   What are your favorite animals? Or, what animals resonate strongly with you?   Fish, especially bright tropical ones, and cats.   Are there any historical figures you are particularly interested in - say, that you'd enjoy reading about, or movies, etc.?   Not really.   What, if anything, are you earwormed with right now?   This song by The Fray is always playing on the radio station that my old-work listens to. They can't really eat treats because of dietary restrictions, but they'd probably appreciate toys.   Does anyone play video games? What platform(s)? SW thread question answers

Honey: well honey and i have a love hate thing. I really love sweet rich flower honeys liek cloer and apple. But they do weird thigns to my sugar. I do a seriously manic buzz then i colapse into an almsot coma state where i am Unable to wake up. It scares the hubby when even pinching me dosn't wake me, so i don't eat much honey.     Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with? As i said i would lvoe to learn hand quilting and would be willigbn to TRY easy knitting.   Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast? ewwee, why coffe dosn't taste as good as it smells is such a mystery. So no coffe please.   So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Witch/Swap help!

For Witches, Sneaky Swap Fairies, and on the off-chance someone is looking for a gift for me!   cosmetics, scents, creams, and unguents   I am actually a very non-cosmetic person. BPAL is an addiction as much for the community and fun of it as it is for the lovely scents.   That said, I do love scented/oiled bath bombs and will use them quite happily. Hand- and foot-creams likewise, but I always forget about body butters.   My adored BPAL scents tend to be the expensive and rare ones, alas! However, some of my GC favourites include Persephone, Centzon Totochin, Bon Vivant, Salon II: Arrival At The Sabbath, and Whip. My Carnivale Diabolique favourites so far are Ashultum, Inez, Wulric Wolfman, and Priala The Human Phoenix.     crafty things   I would love knitted socks if you're a knitting kind of person. I would adore spun wool if you're a spinning kind of person. I do some quilting, mostly for friends and family - weddings and significant birthdays. I have a Dollfie, but she sits on the shelf and gets little-to-no love from me. I have a plethora of ponies (My Little Ponies) that I've always planned to do up, but have never actually worked on.   Card-making, ATCs, and scrapbooking are things I enjoy doing, but don't actually do that much of. I ought to work more on it...in all the free time I don't have!     books, reading, writing, art   I do a fair amount of reading - mostly fantasy, sci-fi, and romance, although I’m also a sucker for a good mystery. I write a little - mostly fanfiction, although I've written some spec fic pieces before. If you write fanfiction, I would adore, pimp, and bless you for years for an action-adventure/drama Stargate Atlantis fic about John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan.   Art is a subjective thing, but I love a whole bunch of types and kinds, from the beautifully detailed paintings of the Romantics, to the fluid lines of Art Nouveau furniture and jewellery, to the lovely clean lines of cartoons, comics, and anime/manga.     In the end, though, I'm reasonably 'mainstream' in my interests, so you shouldn't have trouble finding anything for me! I'm easy, honestly!

For example, for the mix I made the summer I moved from Connecticut to New Mexico for grad school, I used “Something Exciting About Leaving Everything Behind” from Butterfly Boucher’s “Another White Dash.”   Would you like any recycle/upcycle supplies for your crafting? Sure!   Is there a program you might have missed or show you love which is gone from the airwaves which might be found (or burned) for you by a Witch? The first season of Twin Peaks, which I only have on video; MST3K episodes (should my witch be curious, I’ll see if I can’t work up a list of the ones I’ve seen); Sheep in the Big City (which I wouldn’t have remembered had another SW not mentioned it in the thread, but that’s where I got two of my LJ icons from!)…   Do you play any online games, like World of Warcraft? If so, what server do you play on, what's your character's name, etc.? Nope.   Would anyone like bath bombs or bath melts scented with one of their favorite BPAL scents? I do these for myself sometimes and find them to be quite enjoyable. That would be awesome! Do be warned, however, that it is summer in Kansas, and while nothing should be sitting on my porch for too too long, things melt quickly out there.   Would you like homemade cinnamon buns or sticky buns? Would I like them? For sure. Should you send them to me? SW, SW, SW!

Adding some questions for my SW's illumination (or overwhelmation....oh, shoot, that isn't a word! )   ***6/29*** Do you like coconut? yeah, but I like coconut milk/cream mostly, and probably am not crazy about coconut unless it is simply an ingredient in something else. Puddin' posts ebay sales of older stuff every now and then - what of the current lot are you dying for? Nuttin'. I've pretty much tried and passed on anything I would want from that list. Do you tweet? Nope What kind of mythology are you interested in? All kinds, but especially African, Celtic, Native American, Japanese. But really, it all intrigues me, except that while I'm not against Egyptian, I'm also not terribly compelled by it, and the same is true of Classic Greek/Roman....I mean, I know it fairly well, am conversant in how it shows up in literature, but it doesn't really speak to me. ***6/28***   Do you wear makeup or nail polish? Need brushes, containers, storage, mani/pedi supplies? What colors and brands do you like? I don't wear much makeup (but am still fascinated by mineral makeup esp. eyeshadow. I desperately need brushes. I LOVE nailpolish, though I mostly just do my toes, with occasional forays into fingernails. I like reds with blue undertones, purples, gold/bronze, black, sparkly stuff in all fun colors, though I tend to go for pink/red/orange on the toenails (I'm WAY more adventurous on the toenails....on the fingernails I pretty much stick to cool (ie winter/blue undertones) which I know will look ok with my skintone.   Do you like shiney hanging porch decorations like windchimes or those things that spin and swirl in the wind? Summer 2009 Switch Witch questions

DVDs are probably better, since I can watch them whenever I want and not worry about paying monthly fees. My available time for watching of things is pretty sporadic, and does not lend itself to any sort of monthly subscription format.   Adorable Japanese characters? Not so much.   My fiance sent me an early dvd rip of Coraline that he was given (pretty sure it's not been released yet, but I sometimes have a hard time keeping up) and I was wondering if anyone would like a copy of it? I have heard much about the legendary Tim Tam, but have not yet experienced its glory for myself.   For non-US witches: is there anything from the US you'd love that you can't get where you live now? I am in the US! Though if anyone's Witchee wants something southern California-specific, let me know. I can try to hunt it down.   How many potential witchees have an iPod, or download MP3s? I have a 16GB iPod Touch, and I love it. It goes everywhere with me. It currently contains a weird mix of western art music, bluegrass, Javanese gamelan, Broadway soundtracks, Scandinavian folk music, Weird Al, miscellaneous '60s rock, and songs about earthquakes.   Are there any of the BPTP bath oils you adore (particularly ones that you cannot get anymore). What about the room sprays? I'm not really interested in the bath oils, because I take showers rather than baths. My only experience with the room sprays have been goblin squirts of Revenge and Great Dismal Swamp, both of which I like.   How would you feel about an ultra-girlie shawl or wrap in summer-weight (lace)? No thanks. No drag for me!   What would you think of hand-dyed items? That would be super cool.   So, I hear you don't like lacy wraps! How do you feel about hand-knit socks? Hooray socks! Though, again with the reminder that I live in inland southern California, lightweight socks would be better. My feet might implode in heavy wool socks or something.   What kinds of crafts does everyone either enjoy making or enjoy getting? Do you have a certain type of handmade item that you love to collect? Socks, boxes, jewelry, dolls etc? My craftiness mostly focuses either on drawings (which I mostly do in marker, and sometimes with watercolor) or on decorating t-shirts. My Witchee will probably receive something handmade along these lines! As for what I'd like to receive, there is nothing in particular that I collect, but I would be totally thrilled with any craft a Witch might make with me specifically in mind.   Clearly, vegans are not into soaps with honey or milk, etc. But, if you're NOT a vegan how would you feel about soaps made with emu oil? Squicked out/concerned about animal cruelty, or willing to try them? I am totally not squicked. I currently have a few photos of landscapes (mostly photos I took), a huge fault map of California, and an incredible aerial photo of 1906 San Francisco. I also have a huge awesome Mt.St. Helens photo I need to hang. So maybe there is more occupied wallspace than I realized. So, uh, maybe smaller pictures instead of big posters.   What are your favorite animals? Or, what animals resonate strongly with you? I love cats (obviously, since I have two of the little fuzzmonsters (except mine aren't really that little)), both wild and domestic. In terms of big cats, I guess I'm a particular fan of cheetahs and clouded leopards. I also love dogs, particularly the big friendly ones. I've also always loved foxes, of all species and colors. I have a particular soft spot for otters and pine martens, too.   Are there any historical figures you are particularly interested in - say, that you'd enjoy reading about, or movies, etc.? Hrmmm. Are we allowed musicians? If so, then definitely Dmitri Shostakovich and Gustav Mahler. (Please no sending of that Ken Russel Mahler movie, though! Creepyfreakyweird.) As for non musicians, King Ludwig II of Bavaria's interesting. Also, I'm developing a definite fondness for the fit of weird that was Emperor Norton I of the United States. Stonewall Jackson's also fascinating, not because I sympathize with him, but because he was so incredibly strange. As for historical periods, the turn of the 20th century fascinates me. Plus, a surprising number of my interests (not just earthquakes!) converge upon the year 1906, or its close neighbors.   What, if anything, are you earwormed with right now? Amazingly, nothing. Probably because I've been sitting in conference sessions all day.   What scent are you wearing right now, if any? This has been a BPAL-free conference, mainly because I didn't want to fly with any oils. I had a carry-on only, and didn't feel like putting odd vials in my plastic baggie-o-liquids. That said, if I had brought stuff, I probably would have brought various dirt scents. It's a geology conference, after all! Also, would have brought Coyote, since it's kind of my standby favorite.   Anyone reading an amazing book right now? I'm currently reading Mike Davis' Ecology Of Fear: Los Angeles and the Imagination of Disaster, which is a study of all the ways LA is environmentally screwed, and the cultural reactions to those things. It is fascinating, though a bit unsettling for someone who technically lives in the LA basin.   What socially respsonsible site would you recommend to ALL Witches? I'll have to reiterate aspca.org. I could also link to a bunch of disaster preparedness sites, which is a cause I find important, but I don't know if that's quite what this question means.   What is your favorite anime, or if you don't like that what is your favorite animated series? I've never really watched anime. Both! I appreciate comic villains of all forms. Including the form where the movie is supposed to be good and the villain is supposed to be sinister, but everything is actually so bad that it's hilarious.   Chips? I am not a big fan of regular potato chips, though I am incredibly intrigued by those Thai Kettle Chips you all keep mentioning in this thread. (Actually, Kettle Chips in general are something of an exception to the rule. Nom.)   Beer? My first ever time drinking beer was in Munich, so I might perhaps be slightly spoiled. That said, wheat beers/hefeweizens are my favorites in general (my favorite in Munich was Franziskaner Weißbier). Drop Top and Fat Tire are also something of agreed-upon group favorites among the UCR geology department. Have generally had favorable impressions of pale ales, too.   Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey.... etc. Honey is awesome! I like trying different kinds of it; when I do buy it, I tend to not get the same kind twice in a row. I recently had avocado honey, and it was delicious. Local, too! (This is, actually, possibly something I could get for people, but it depends on what's going on at the farmers' market that week. The honey cart is not always there.) Those flavored honey sticks are also kind of addictive.   Book collecting? I don't collect for the sake of having, generally, but absolutely for the sake of reading! I've lately been accumulating print material about the 1906 earthquake, some of it dating from that year. It's so interesting to see how scientific thought and social perception on that event has changed over time. I also have a good number of graphic novels, though I tend to keep up with buying the TPBs shortly after they come out.

Switch Witch - "Summer" 2009 - questionnaires 2

Beer? Not so much. Microbrews, etc. = interesting, but small amounts. I'm more of a wine/spirits girl.   Actually, I'm more of a tea girl. Hot and strong, with plenty of milk and sugar! (And sometimes a dash of cream.) I kinda hope I get a witchee who likes hot tea!   Favourite animals? Cats and felines, generally.   Historical Art Styles? Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Steampunk, illuminated manuscripts of the Mediaeval times, Egyptian images/heiroglyphs, and Chinese scrolls.   Scent currently wearing? I tried Baghdad this morning, but didn't like the muskiness. So I dabbed on some Butter Rum Cookie, and now I smell like boozy bakehouse. Mmm...   Book collections? Cookbooks, definitely. Other than that...only the occasional cloth-covered book of poetry, prose, or 'wisdom'. And what I want to read, of course.   Chips? Kettle chips (as a type, not the brand) - I like flavours such as 'sour cream and chilli' or 'sweet onion' or 'honey soy' - but plain is good, too!   Posters: Would be lovely! Nature or art, large or small - whatever suits your fancy and I'll find somewhere to put it up! Imagine a Witch who always sends her favourite book, for example. **Absolutely not! Great idea!   Pets: What do you have, and do they need/want anything? **Three dogs: two Shibas, a German Shepherd. They can only eat treats that have no grains in them, so they are kind of hard to buy for. The German Shepherd loves squishy balls, and as he is getting older and sicker, he would probably love a ball (cheaper the better, btw). The Shibas like squeeky toys, but the GSD tends to destroy them.   Does anyone play video games? What platform(s)? I asked this question, and the answer is yes, though like others, I'm not much for bright traditional tye-die, but I love the subtle patterns of Low Water Immersion Dyeing.   So, I hear you don't like lacy wraps! But what i really USE And need more of are pippettes. I use those for getting my oils into anything i might mix up from conditioners to massage oils. Question...do you fret or take it personally when your witch or witchee gets too quiet? Like they figured you out and don't like you? yes.   Do you try to figure out who your witch is? A record for my Switch Witch, June 2009!   Single Notes? Any and all, but especially the 'odd' ones like tonka bean, opoponax, champaca, the various musks, honey, etc.   Net Flix? No, thanks. Not in the US to appreciate and I wouldn't use it anyway. Lovely thought and brilliant idea, though!   Coraline? Nah. I'd watch it in the cinemas, and if I liked it enough, I'd buy the DVD proper.   Hello Kitty? Letter paper/envelopes; yes. Toys and keychains and stuff; not so much.   Seasonal MP3 mix? It would be a Winter mix for me, and I'd call it: I Can't Stand The Rain! Because it's been raining something dreadful around here for the last month, our courtyard is beginning to grow moss...   Recycle/Upcycle craft products? Yes please! Cotton shirts in particular - I could use them for patchwork quilting. But, really, any papercraft, beadwork, or pretty/unusual/textured materials would be lovely! I also collect Christmas card fronts with pictures that I can reuse. Of course, this assumes that I have the time to actually put them together come Christmas - which I rarely seem to do.   TV show burning? Scarecrow and Mrs. King anyone? I've never seen it and I have a friend who loves it, so I'm curious. But it would be good to have it playable on my computer instead of videotapes (which I'd never end up watching, to tell you the truth.)   Bath Bombs? Love bath bombs! My Shotgun Witch, LunaLiquid, sent me a beautifully scented bath bomb and I luxuriated in the fizz and the fumes for hours!   Online Gaming? No, thank heavens. The extent of any online 'gaming' of mine is limited to Lexulous (online scrabble).   Non US Witch? Yup. And my Witchee will be TimTammed. (Unless she doesn't want to.) If my Witch is in California, if you could hunt up some Dulce du Leche M&Ms - I know a friend had them back in 2006 when I stayed with her, and the M&M site said they were available in CA with a planned rollout to the rest of the US. If you can't find them...uh...I'll take more Hershey's Caramel Kisses! (*smooches hepkitten, who sent her a big pack along with a lovely mass sale*)   IPod/MP3 Player? Nope. But I'm thinking about getting an SD card for my Palm Treo (or upgrading to the Palm Pro) so I can store music on my phone. I'm a 'convergent technologies' kinda gal: I want to carry around one item that's phone and organiser and MP3 player all in one!   Shawl or wrap? Oh yes. Those knitted shawls look beautiful! I would love something like that if my Witch could make it. (If you're not crafty, don't worry about it, honest!)   Hand-knit socks? Again, I'd love some hand-knit socks. I'm going to try to knit some of my own, but I suspect my attempts will be laughable for some time yet.   Crafts to make/get? Collectables? I don't really collect anything to tell you the truth. Other than BPAL. I make stuff, yeah, but that's pretty much a case of 'whatever's available to make   Soaps made from animal oils? The emu-oil lady and her methods sound pretty awesome, actually. I'm okay with animal products in my gifts, although I'd prefer they were responsibly farmed.   Decanting equipment? Would be loved. I've been having trouble procuring vials and pipettes from the US - they don't seem to make them in Australia. I've bought a whole bunch off Ebay, but, yeah, more are always good!   Favourite Carnivale Diabolique? Ashultum. Madame Moriarty, Misfortune Teller. Priala, the Human Phoenix. Wulric, the Wolfman. Anaconda!   BJD dolls? I have a BJD, but she's very basic - I haven't gotten around to doing her up yet. Don't know if I ever will! But accessories would be great for her. I think she's a 12" standard Dollfie, IIRC.   Kitty likes catnip? I think she does.   Food products: buns, jellies, canning stuff. I would LOVE to receive jars of homemade stuff; however it is unfortunately quite inadvisable to send to Australia, especially anything that has seeds in it. Our Customs and Quarantine department is very restrictive. (Understandable, but still frustrating.) You might be able to get away with jellies and canned foods if they're small and vacuum sealed and very obviously cooked like mad, but no guarantees.   Other things: Twilight - No. Steampunk - Yes! Etsy - Haven't really looked around that much.
