After Dinner-mints

So what do you want from Paintbox Soapworks' Yule release? I MUST have the Mariner one!! Pine and sea spary? I cannot wait to try this one. Of course there are also a couple fall ones that I still need to grab. Oh, and Witch, you are so ebil! Thank you for satisfying my Queen is Dead craving. Until you sent it I’d never tried the slip. I’d always thought it would be too thin (plus, who needs more things to lust after, right?) Ummm… Not only do I love it more than any other lotion I have ever tried, it is already half gone because I can’t stop using it. Do they have a soap/perfume 12 step program?   Would you like a box filled with Christmas/Yule treats? Sure.   Darling Witchee, are you in on this NaNoWriMo craziness? Would you like motivational pings/writing instruments/lovely blank books in which to pen your masterpiece I’m attempting NaNo this year. What I could use is a drill sergeant standing over my shoulder and yelling, “WRITE, DAMN IT!” I’m amazed at the number of things I can find to do to procrastinate… Like updating my SW blog…   Did you know BPAL is on etsy with leftover trunk show bottles? Would you like any of them? The only one that really called to me was Enraged Orangutan Musk. Some of the others sound good, but I’d be afraid of a full bottle without taking it for a test drive.   Would you prefer to have your final package before Halloween or have a reveal package at the end of the round?   Well, since we are past Halloween, I’ll pick after! Really I’ve had so much fun being your witchee this round, that I’d like to put off the reveal as long as possible!!! But I do hope you reveal so I can shout my love from the rooftops. Switch Witch Fall 2010 Extra Questions plus Massive Answers of DOOM! (part the first!)

11/1/10 Would you like a box filled with Christmas/Yule treats? I think “a box filled with” is a bit presumptuous, but Christmas/Yule things are fantastic, yes. I particularly love snowpeople. I am not super crazy about peppermint, for the record. It’s nice but not like omgyay.   Darling Witchee, are you in on this NaNoWriMo craziness? Would you like motivational pings/writing instruments/lovely blank books in which to pen your masterpiece I used to attempt this every year, and when I say “attempt”, I mean I’d spend the first week of November just trying to figure out what I wanted to write ABOUT and then realized I didn’t have enough time left to actually do it. Now that I’m at a college that is kicking my ass seven ways from Sunday on top of all the other responsibilities and sundry whatnots of life, I don’t see this happening this year. Which admittedly makes me very sad, since every year I say “THIS YEAR!” and then, no. But I do love blank books in general anyway. They always have a million at places like Borders that I wish I could justify buying.   10/29/10 Did you know BPAL is on etsy with leftover trunk show bottles? Would you like any of them? I’m very ignorant about trunk show bottles and protos and everything like this. I don’t remember hearing any mention of it when I first dabbled in BPAL, so I’m just confused. I’m sure there’s something that would be great to have but I don’t know about it yet? Haha.   10/28/10 Would you prefer to have your final package before Halloween or have a reveal package at the end of the round? Not sure how this was being asked on the 28th and people thought it would get there before Halloween, but that’s neither here nor there now either way! I have been such a difficult Witchee that I’m leaving everything up to my Witch to decide.   Do you prefer lip balm in a tube or tin? I prefer tubes, since they’re more sanitary, but I wouldn’t have a fit about a tin.   10/21/10 What are you most interested in from the Yule update? I am probably the only one who is actually SAD that the update is out already. I’d like to be excited, but I don’t even have the Weenies I need yet, and haven’t had time to really try to organize the stuff I have for swaps so that I can get them. I haven’t had time to do anything, actually. *sigh* Anyway, enough of my emo whining, regarding the Yules --- > Not sure if they will cooperate with me or not, but The Clock Strikes Midnight, Changing the Shadows, Shadows of What May Be, An Altar to Cold, Rigid, Dreadful Death, sound the most intriguing, but there’s also Haloa 2010, Egg Nog 2010, Whoop, The First of the Three Spirits, and if only there wasn’t vetiver, The Last of the Spirits would be UTTERLY AMAZING. I guess I’m going to be doing a LOT of sniffing at Will Call this Sunday, which sort of sucks because I needed to re-test the Weenies in question as well. I realize I’m complaining about something stupid like having TOO MUCH TO SNIFF, but I’m just already worried I won’t be able to figure out what I want in time. Halloween is my favourite holiday, and I’ve always been so sad hearing people talk about the Weenies of years passed that I wasn’t around for. Of the Last Unicorn scents, the only ones I’m really interested in are The Last Unicorn, The Butterfly, and The Midnight Carnival. I want a scent for the big-boobied tree, darnit! …Ok, this is post-Will-Call now, and I didn’t get to sniff anything but The Clock Strikes Midnight, which I loved. Based on some reviews I read, I’m now curious about Christmas Eve in the Counting House and The Soldier too.   10/20/10 If you were my witchee, would you want to receive Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, or wouldn't that be your cup of classics? I’m trying hard to bite my tongue (or my fingers, as the case may be) and not really go into detail, but I am just definitely not into Jane Austen. They don’t affirm women enough for me.   Would you like some homemade snack mix? I do like snack mix! Although I’m pretty eccentric in that I pretty much only eat the Chex and the Melba toasts. I ignore all crackers and pretzels. The more bold the flavour, the better. I have eaten the “Bold” Chex mix and it is not hardly “bold” to me. Garlic, Worcestershire, and spice, all the way! I also love that snack stuff called Munchies? Haha, it’s a crazy name, but it’s like Doritos and Cheetos and Sun Chips or something. Cheese snacks are always win.   Knitterly Witchees, would you like a yarn bowl? A bowl MADE of yarn or a bowl FOR yarn? Or both? Haha, I have always been impressed with bowls made of yarn, but don’t go through special trouble if this isn’t easy for you.   10/18/10 So....let's say that you're my witchee, and you have an affinity for widgets. Let's also pretend that I sent you one of these widgets, but in a form that has a very special personal significance to me. Would you find that to be touching (in a "Yay, now I'll always use this and think of my witch!" way) or tacky (in a "My witch is making this all about her!" way)? I can’t really figure out what a widget is, but after putting my Witch through such a hard time of giving her enough info about me, I’m going to say if this appeals to her, go for it.   Have you had a chance to try Halloweenies? If so, which ones are you really really in love with this year? Infernal Lover is the only one I bought a bottle of but probably should get more before it’s gone. Slaugh and Ghoulish both didn’t do well on me, but I almost want them anyway just to keep trying over time, haha. …Ok, more post-Will-Call notes—I resniffed some of the ones in question. I’m now sure that I want Slaugh. I bought a bottle of The Shadowy and the Sublime and I have The Madwoman instead of Odd Portents now (long story) but I love these so much that if somehow you got me any amount of them already it would so not be bad.   Pocket shrines! Would you like one, made for a particular obsession of yours? I like this idea. I think the best themes for me would be something to remember I’m a valuable, important person, or that there are a few people who love me. I have a hard time remembering these things.   10/14/10 Do you prefer scented or unscented lotions/moisturizers? Generally, scented! But I guess an unscented one might be interesting to have so I could flavour it up with some BPAL. Either way, and I hate to be a broken record, just want it to be natural.   10/13/10 Today I got one of the Starbucks Halloween Bearista Bears - it's dressed like a werewolf! Is this something witchees might like? I love plush things but teddy bears… I don’t know why but I just don’t like them at all. Halloween plushes in general are awesome though. There are some teeny little purple and black bats at Hobby Lobby and I’ve almost bought one but stopped myself. And of course there’s that whole Hello Kitty thing and my weird doll attraction.   Are you interested in Halloween costumes for your pet(s)? I don’t have pets, unfortunately. It makes me VERY sad.   10/12/10 Would you want your witch to reveal herself? How? Take it off, baby! Take it all off! Haha, sorry, I just had to make that terrible joke, because “reveal herself” just went into my dirty dirty brain the wrong way! I would love to know who my Witch is, just so I can apologize to her until the end of time!   10/09/10 I came home with some Dungeon Crawl and some Bedbugs yesterday. If you were my witchee, would you want some of either/both? I can’t find a description for Bedbugs, so I don’t know, but I’m very curious about Dungeon Crawl. …Ok, finally found out that Bedbug is supposed to be gingerbready, which sounds nice. Probably wouldn’t work on me, the spicy-as-in-autumn-spice ones are weird like that, but who knows. …Another update, I have tested Bedbug and I was right. It’s ok but it doesn’t really do awesome things ON me.   10/07/10 Did you forget anything fun/interesting or find something new and exciting? Uhhh, I’m answering these from the top down so I’ll come back to this, haha! *********************************   10/05/10 Would you like to receive international magazines, even if you don't speak the language it's written in, just to ogle the pictures or for the novelty of it? If yes, what kind of magazines, or what magazines in particular? Hmm, I guess if someone had them just hanging around, yeah that would be neat. But don’t go to any particular trouble to buy me something I can’t read anyway, haha.   Would you have interest in any of the new Christmas stuff from Lush? Haven’t looked, but as I’ve said, I’m a little unhappy with Lush.   Oh, witchee-poo... if there was one bottle you could have from the NYCC exclusives, what would it be? One bottle? The Elephantine Colossus. I guess I don’t really pay attention much to event-exclusives because I know I will never get them, but re-reading the notes, it sounds pretty intriguing. The White Lady one sounds a little interesting too. …And another update! I smelled someone’s decant of Elephantine Colossus at Will Call, and it was really nice. Didn’t test, but in the imp… WOW.   If someone were to make you one of the items in this post which would it be? 1,2, and 4 are the best, most inclined to 4. Probably a moot point now.   If you were my witchee, would you mind a gift certificate where you'd have to do it old school style and mail it in with your order form? Not at all! The place I get my henna still has these.   10/04/10 Do you have a preferred weight of yarn to work in? Lace, sock, worsted, bulky, handspun with variation? My preferred yarn is yarn, haha. I just love yarn. I guess I have more worsted than anything, but worsted is really versatile! I don’t have any lace and lace yarn is something I have been wanting for forever, I have to be honest. But I really love bulky’s and handspuns that are all un-uniform in size (I think they call it thick and thin, or slub, or something like that/those?) I’m rather fond of sock yarn too though. Really, I just love yarn.   Anyone like little seasonal decorative wreaths? Like grapevine wreaths embellished with silk flora, etc.? When I picture this in my mind’s eye, I’m seeing like… the kind of thing my boyfriend’s mother still likes, back from when the 80’s era of decorating hit the 90’s era of decorating, and everything was mauve pink and grayish blue and had like, geese on it. I’m sure there’s a more chic way to make such a thing now, but I can’t picture it!   Do any witchees need a Snuggie? I’m the one who has to compare the quality to cost ratio of every product mentioned on the thread and I’m sure everybody hates me for it , but no Snuggies for me. I did like the Slanket and the Snuggle Blanket or whatever it was called… the one someone posted that unzips into a blanket and zips into the sleeved robe-ish thing. I think both are too expensive to worry about though.   10/01/10 So, who here loves pomegranates? Are the good as a fruit, a flavoring or just a scent? All of the above! Swank was nasty on me, but I blame the thing that wasn’t the pomegranate part, because it was fruity and lovely before it changed. Real pomegranates are awesome and their juice is amazing. Also, that pomegranate soda they sell at Whole Foods is delicious.   Haunt Update? I am not familiar with this. I tried to look it up but my Google fu wasn’t strong enough? I guess if it’s another perfume place, probably not, but if it’s soap, maybe.

Switch Witch Fall 2010 Extra Questions plus Massive Answers of DOOM! (part the second!)

9/30/10 Villainess has an update. Anyone wanting anything from it? I don’t really go for Villainess stuff. I do want lovely bath stuff, just completely natural lovely bath stuff.   How are all the witchees fixed for purses--lunchbags, etc? I am in fact a purse freak, though my taste in them is rather difficult to describe. I guess I have to say I’m not at all interested in designer names but I do go for very unique looking bags. I’m currently on the search for a wallet. I like those kind that are hard box type things that snap together, if that makes any sense. I’ve crammed my bills into the coin purse of my tiny purse for so long and I would like to let them sit full-length in a civilized orderly fashion inside a real bill section of a full-length wallet now. Again, unique. My favourite things in purses are animal prints, beautiful patterns, painted things. There’s some line of handbags that are all made by indigenous women in Africa, and those are really awesome but I forget the name. There’s also apparently some very expensive ones from India that are handpainted leather. Gorgeous, but too expensive.   Now, I have a question for you. About notes. Which are your favourite ones? Do you have a kind of "note top ten?" Anything that works particularly well on you? Do you have a perfume category (foody, floral, aquatic, musky) that you favour? And are there any notes you have never tried, but think would work well on you? Note top ten, hrm. I’m still very much in the experimental phase, but I can say that I love champaca more than anything. After that, things that generally work or seem to be in the ones I love the most are sandalwood, myrrh, tonka, neroli/orange blossom, jasmine (yes I am a rare bird that loves the jasmine!), and now apparently olive/sweet olive. The “Snake Oil” family seems to treat me well for the most part. I only have two snake decants (Temple Viper, which is amazing, and Australian Copperhead which is really nice) because I was really poor when that update happened (much like every update for the past two years!) but I’d love to try more. And Lilith Victoria has Snake Oil and I LOVE her.   Would you like a sugar skull decorated by your witch? Or do you like sugar skull stuff in general? Last year or the year before, Target had sugar skull pajamas. I could not afford them but I loved them SO MUCH. I also think they probably didn’t carry my size. Target is pretty sizeist. ANYWAY, I love sugar skull imagery! (Was so sad that the BPAL Sugar Skull scents did not do anything good for me!)   9/29/10 Is there one scent that is your goto for comfort on a bad stressful day? Like the perfume equivilent of a security blankie? My comforting scents are Wezwanie/Hold and Lilith Victoria. Eat Me also, in a way. It's pretty om-nom-able too so it's not necessarily as comforting as the others, what with all the distracting ideas of wanting to gnaw on my own arm. Someone else mentioned Haloes, and I don't own it yet but I always sniff it when I make it to Whole Foods and I think it would definitely be like that too. More like Lilith Victoria, a sort of sexy-comforting as opposed to Wezwanie/Hold's cozy-toasted-hazelnut-warm-soft-comforting. …And let me add now that Infernal Lover is sort of comforting too.   What are you going to be for Halloween? So many things I would love to be, but can’t really pull them off. I haven’t really decided what, if anything, I will be for Halloween. It’s sort of sad because I absolutely ADORE Halloween, it’s been my utmost favourite holiday for most of my life (ok, when I was a LITTLE kid, I liked Christmas more), but I still don’t know many people where I live and so I haven’t really celebrated it much in a long time. Not to be a huge downer but it really makes me super sad. …Okay, I’m leaving that answer because it still gives good info, but now I have decided for this event at my school called the Wizards Ball that I’m going to be Bellatrix from the Harry Potter stories. I’m not even really a big Harry Potter fan or anything, but I did like the idea of trying to make a costume out of her. …Updated again since I suck and didn’t upload these before—I didn’t get my Bellatrix together in time, but I still think I would try her again in the future sometime. For the ball I just threw something together and went as an Autumn Sprite type thing, but on Halloween itself I went to a party as La Catrina, the Dia de Los Muertos image. I really enjoyed that and think I will make it a tradition to do it at least one day every year, so I’m going to make sure I have stuff that goes with this.   Is there something just super random you like/enjoy/want/are ogling that has not been and will not be covered by any other questions, because it's just that WEIRD? I asked this, and mentioned that I love Hello Kitty toys and plushies, haha. I also love My Little Pony’s, but it’s really hard to find the regular ones now. They are going to the hard plastic superdeformed things, and that just isn’t my style. I also am a weirdo who likes dolls, the weirder the better though. I like redheaded dolls because there are so few of them, and any that look sort of gothy or creepy. I never collected the Living Dead Dolls but I liked some of them. Right now there are dolls called Monster High and I want the Frankenstein and vampire ones really badly. I’m not sure why I like dolls. I think, in some weird way, even though they are mass produced, they’re sort of like art to me. But I’m not above combing their hair either. I don’t know! And as much as I hate to admit it, given their background and the social perception around them, there are some Bratz dolls I have liked. They had a Midnight Ball or Midnight Masquerade or something like that line of them, and they were all in dark, lacey, gothy outfits and had interesting hair. I have one of those but since I don’t really care for the whole schtick about them, I couldn’t tell you which one by name. It has red and black hair. I know this is all very strange, but it’s the kind of stuff I like, haha!   9/25/10 If you could make a scent that represents where you live (or have lived), what would be the ingredients? I used to live in Texas and I miss the open air, the huge blue sky, the grass, live oak trees, the wild sunflowers growing in late summer… something that embodied all that would be awesome. Where I live now is all pine trees and I hate every pine note BPAL I have ever smelled, at least thus far? There is a patch of road on the way to my house, that in the late spring/early summer smells like honeysuckle, mimosa, and this white shrubbery/viney wildflower plant I don’t know the name of. That smell is… there really aren’t words. If it could be bottled, I would probably forsake almost all other scents and just buy and wear it forever!   Are you in need of Roller bottles or anything of the like? I would like to have pipettes and empty imp vials. I have times where I want to give a friend a decant of a bottle I have, and I have nothing to do it with! I hear these aren’t expensive though, so one of these days I could probably just buy some!   9/24/10 Just curious, but if your witch was to make an amigurumi critter (or other plushie) just for you, what would it be? Can’t go wrong with something like a Cthulhu or a zombie or a kitten or a Claptrap or anything Halloween related (bats, spiders, ghosts, black cats, Dracula, mummies, etc). There are plenty of other animals I like too though. I love guinea pigs, snakes, elephants, zebras, unicorns… yeah, that’s all random.   Would you want a local/tourist item from your witch? Like a t-shirt, mug or shot glass? Hmm, maybe if she lived somewhere that had particularly neat stuff like that. Like New Orleans or Salem or something, haha. Or even like Austin, Texas. I’ve been there and it’s an awesome city too. If somehow my Witch is from outside the US, then DEFINITELY I want something from the area, but it can be small.   Okay, who wants NAlloween and some Vampire Apothecary goodness? NAlloween? Did that copy and paste correctly? I don’t know what either of these are but assume they are other perfumeries? I really don’t want to step outside the BPAL box because I know that way lies madness (I will want way too much and already can’t even keep track of the BPAL I want!) but I guess with any of these, if there is something you just are completely convinced I will adore, like a scent that glorifies redheaded curvy green-eyed women and contains lots of champaca and myrrh or something, go for it, haha!   Venomous Villains? I had to look this up to know what it was, haha. I love ALL the colours for EVERYTHING in the Maleficent line, but if I had to pick favourites, the My Dark Deed eyeshadow and the Mean & Green nailcolour are the best.   Last Unicorn? I love The Last Unicorn! …Ok, now that I’m re-reading this and the scents have come out, I mentioned this above but the unicorn, butterfly, and carnival.   Who is your fav Disney Villian/villianess? How about hero/herione? (doesn't have to be specifically Disney though) Villain, hrm. I don’t think I’ve actually liked any of the Disney villains. That’s sort of strange. Hades was funny but I don’t know if I can say I LIKED him. Villainesses… I like the witch/stepmother/dragonchick from Enchanted, I guess that’s only marginally Disney officially, since she’s not animated, but oh my god her dress and her makeup! I guess she was based a lot on Maleficent, who is also pretty cool. Disney hero/heroines would be… hmm, I guess mostly that girl from Enchanted. I want to be her for Halloween once my hair grows more and I manage to make a dress. There’s a villainess turned heroine… Meg from Hercules. I don’t know, I can’t say I like any of these enough to immerse myself in something, other than the Enchanted stuff.   9/23/10 Do you collect stones/rocks? I'm talking like "semi" precious stones, ie moonstone, bloodstone, quartz ect. Are there any that you're looking for at the moment? Are you in need of a stone but don't know which kind? I DO collect these stones actually! I like to make jewelry, for one thing, and I also am sort of interested in the whole metaphysical property aspect. Of course a lot of people think that’s all hoopla, but I don’t know. The world works in so many mysterious ways anyway, is it really THAT unscientific to think certain minerals would have certain effects? Anyway, I don’t know which ones are meant for what off the top of my head, but I like anything that deals with counteracting negativity, encouraging mental clarity, healing, well-being, etc. Colours are important too, I don’t really usually like warm colours in stones. Mostly purples, greens, pinks, reds, turquoises (not necessarily the stone, but the colour), white, clear, smoky, black.   What's your favorite Halloween Music? Nightmare Before Christmas. Also a band called The Necro Tonz which is not together anymore, but are awesome. I love that type of thing.   9/22/10 Do you have a deviantart print wishlist or favourites list? I didn’t know these existed, haha. Wishlists that is. I do very occasionally make it over to deviantart, usually just when a Google image search I do takes me there.   Is there anything from Blooddrop that you want to try? GC? Halloween update? As above regarding other scent e-tailers.   What kind of shoes do you need/want? What size shoes do you wear? Would you mind gently used shoes? Shoes? That sounds like crazy postage right there. Um, I do love shoes. I especially love flip-flops (haha), Mary Janes, and beaded pointy-toed shoes that look like genie shoes (I don’t know the names for these, but they were in stores a couple years back and I have 2 pair, one black that are falling apart and one pink I can’t find!). I would LOVE to be able to find a pair of boots that I liked and were comfortable, but it’s going to be a hard battle to find one that fits wide feet AND big calves. That’s a battle I’ll have to fight alone!   Do you like paper dolls (new or vintage) or coloring in books? I do like colouring books, especially My Little Pony ones, haha. Heehee.   What song is on heavy rotation for you right now? Nothing in particular really, which is weird. Usually I can name something. But my life is sort of music-challenged. The only place I can listen to a variety of music is my computer. The radio in my car only gets 6-8 stations and after the religious contemporary and country stations have been eliminated, that doesn’t leave much. I can’t find most of my CD’s right now. (We moved a few years ago and lots of things are being stored.) The stuff I wish I had at my fingertips, I can only get to on Pandora or now, last.fm, which I discovered simply because of this questionnaire. Not particularly!   If you could get any one thing hand-painted from your witch, what would it be and what would be on it? Wow, it’s hard to decide. Hand-painted things are just generally win. As a crafter myself (and one that isn’t necessarily as skilled in some crafts as others) I completely respect and appreciate people’s hard hand-crafted work.   Would you (assumin' you're a yarnie) be interested in a naturally-dyed yarn that's designed to very gradually fade with washing? That wouldn’t bother me. As you probably gathered already, I like natural ingredients and natural processes in things!   If you have played before, what are some of the most memorable things you've gotten? What really made you go WOW? If you haven't played, same thing, but not limited to SW. I did Swap Ninja since all of us who signed up for that missed the deadline for SW that time. I got a vampire novel that really surprised and impressed me- A Terrible Beauty by Nancy Baker. See, the title is horrible, it makes it sound like cheese is just going to ROCKET off the page, and the book cover art was the same way, but the book was so amazingly written and engaging and I loved the story. It was like Dracula meets Carmilla meets Beauty and the Beast. Absolutely enchanting. I also got a bunch of nag champa scented stuff, including a little soapstone container that held solid nag champa scented perfume. I looooooove things that are made of soapstone, and hadn’t even mentioned that.   9/21/10 Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? I absolutely LOVE garlic. I’ve said many times that the only thing garlic doesn’t belong in is ice cream. I’m not sure I’m brave enough for garlic chocolate or fudge either though! Ok, not familiar with these either (I really am totally blind to the world of awesome e-tailers, I haven’t had money to order stuff from the interwebs so I just don’t even look around!), but I Googled and I’m guessing it’s the soap one? I couldn’t find a page that spoke only specifically of Halloween stuff, but I did see Dia de Los Muertos and Sleepy Hollow which both sound yummy. Burlesque sounds awesome too, haha.   How many bottles of BPAL do you have? I have a few bottles that I really need to post for swaps. They were given to me a couple years ago so I could start figuring out what I liked, and sadly I don’t like any of them. But the bottles I have that I have actually purchased because I wanted them and will keep them are Bordello, Lilith Victoria, Wezwanie/Hold, Infernal Lover, and The Madwoman. Not really a lot! I have a bottle of Beaver Moon that I traded for, but there’s a weird sharp note in it that isn’t thrilling me.   Is there any exercise program that you're interesting in learning? Meditation, Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Zumba ect? Or if you do any of these (or anything else sport related) are there any things you need/want? Candles, music, mats, water bottles etc? I do have a poster of Georgia O’Keefe’s Dark Iris (this one http://www.kathrynpaterson.com/ok_iris.jpg - though the colouring on my copy is better), and I also love her Black Iris and Red Iris. Kay Nielsen’s work is awesome, I love the dreamy style. Same for Edmund Dulac. Which one would you like to read? Would you like gifts related to it? I do like fantasy, but I guess sort of not the kind of fantasy most people think of when they say the word fantasy? I don’t know, I love the Jim Butcher books, Dresden Files that is, I tried to read his other series and couldn’t get into it. I also love the Rowan Hood books by Nancy Springer, which are technically children’s fiction but have pretty universal themes and are written beautifully. Another one like that was Bones of Faerie, which I think is YA but was amazing. I do love books about faeries, apparently, haha, and other supernatural whatnots, although I can’t get into any of the popular vampire stuff that’s floating around lately. I would love some vampire fiction that didn’t act like girls were all spineless idiots. Sorry, I guess I sound like a judgmental turd, but living in the world of reality TV, I just can’t take any more awful portrayal of females! My favourite author used to be Francesca Lia Block, but I haven’t read one of her books in a long time and now I’m wondering if I would still like them or if I would wish the female characters were stronger. I’m going to have to give it a try sometime.   Soaps : do you like them? What brands? What scents? Anything you're dying to try? Love soap, want soap, have no idea whose soap I should be trying. It has to be all-natural, and I love lots of scent in my soaps, like you actually smell like the stuff once you’re done washing with it. But if it was just an amazing feeling and working soap that was moisturizing, I wouldn’t care if it wasn’t strongly scented. I have been thinking of trying Chagrin Valley soap forever, just because I know that they definitely use really good stuff to make them, but I don’t think they are strongly scented, since they don’t add any fragrance other than herbs and such.   I wondered if my witch or any witch would enjoy things like nice pens to draw with or anything similar? I love pens and markers and all manner of writing objects! I don’t really use traditional blue, but I like every other colour and especially black. I have to take lots of notes in school now so it’s nice to have pens that do that smoothly.   For those who are yarnies, would you like other-than-yarn witchery? Hooks, needles? Preference of material? Do you use/would you like handmade stitch markers, etc.? I have not yet had a lot of projects I have had to use stitch markers for, but I did have to use them for a hat that I still haven’t finished because my needles fell out and I lost stuff and now I don’t know what’s going on anymore >_<, but anyway. I think I need needles more than anything, because I bought most of my needles before I realized that I really don’t like aluminum needles. I need wooden ones, particularly in different sizes. I haven’t used DPN’s much yet, which is funny because I have a ton of them, but again, they’re metal, and they’re in sets of 4. I really love the Harmony needles that Knit Picks sells. I keep meaning to buy a size 2 or 3 so I can return the ones I borrowed for some socks (that I also haven’t finished, again because I messed up and then got lost *blush*) back to their owner.   Does anyone do altered books? Would you be interested in old books to alter? Any type or title in particular? More weird opinions here, but altered books make me sad, because it’s like someone didn’t love the book enough just as it was, you know? I know, I’m silly. It also seems really destructive. Like if you could still read the book once altered, that might be one thing, but usually it completely destroys the book. The exception might be something like old encyclopedias that are pretty obsolete. And I have a paperback copy of Alice in Wonderland that got severely water-damaged so the only thing I really CAN do with it is use it for something artistic. But really I just love old books in and of and for themselves, like I love old cookbooks from the eras before processed food was really invented/marketed, so instead of telling you to put in Cream of Hydrogenated Oil and Sodium Soup, it tells you to put in milk and chicken stock or whatever. I also really love old dictionaries, because they have words in them we have never known or forgot ever existed.   Did someone ask about incense yet? Would you like some? Something to store or burn it in? What scents? What form? I love incense, but apart from these cones I used to get at Earthbound Trading Company, I don’t know if I’ve ever had really GOOD incense. I love the smell of nag champa, so anything along those lines would be awesome. I seem to like frankincense, myrrh, amber, and lots of other resiny things. I know I hate pine-type smells and anything that resembles a “traditional” man’s cologne, all those weird “cool”, “fresh” Axe-type scents are bleh.   Any oddball free things you collect or would want saved for you? Hmm, I’m sure there are some coupons I could probably use, and I’ve always wanted to do artistic things with beer/soda bottle tops, which I know probably sounds strange and random.   9/18/10 Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind? Hair toys? Maybe I need to find this question in the actual thread to make sure I know what this means? Like things used to hold and style hair? If so, then YES! And really just about anything. I like and use barrettes (including hinge barrettes, slide barrettes, those barrettes that are just bendy metal that snaps into position, etc!), coloured or decorative bobby pins, clips, claws, “alligator clip” style clips, soft headbands, plastic headbands, metal headbands with or without teeth, hairsticks, scrunchies (yes, I know, scrunchies!), ponytailers big and small, hair contraptions, haha… and I haven’t used the little combs since I was really little and my mom would put them on my head, but I’ve seen those are apparently coming back (?) and I would use those too. I guess there really isn’t a hair toy I wouldn’t use, except for maybe those little spiral wire things with the stone on them that look like @ and are just meant to like, “sit” on/in your hair? Those just either tangle or fall out of my hair, so not those I guess!   Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense? Heck no on both accounts.   In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer(the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats? I don’t know what 1/2 gloves are? Is that fingerless gloves? Wouldn’t that be the same as wrist warmers? Haha, I don’t know, anyway, I love the idea of hand warmers, or really, any of this, but I have failed so miserably at answering these timely enough that I don’t see there being time left for knitterly pursuits!   How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories? I am all about all of these things. If you can save money, keep things out of landfills, etc, I say go for it!   Is there anything you want from the Violette Market update? I’m not familiar with them so enable at your discretion I guess? As mentioned before, I tend to ignore all scent people who aren’t BPAL, but am in the market for soap and stuff like that.   What is your favourite habitat and climate to live in? How about to visit? (ie. forest, canyons, mountains, by the beach; temperate, tropical...) Not really sure. I grew up in Texas, which has every habitat you can think of, though I was mostly in the grassy plains and hills area. I like forests, but not piney forests, which is what there is here in Georgia. I get tired of the pines, and I miss seeing big beautiful open skies. Tropical has a certain charm. Watching footage of places like Costa Rica or the Caribbean makes me want to go there. I have not had any of these. I usually don’t like Hershey’s chocolate at all, it’s grainy and so cloyingly sweet that it hurts my mouth. A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? I usually like long and at least 4-5 inches wide. A scarf is an awful lot of work though, I would probably feel guilty! The short ones that button are pretty cute and wouldn’t be as much work I guess. I am more likely to follow a recipe for baking than for cooking. Unless you know how to make Chinese or Thai food that is close to what you find in restaurants! SP and I have been trying to make Chinese foods at home forever and it always ends up edible but meh… nothing like anything you could buy out.   What kind of a cook/baker are you? Experimental. Haha! When I want to make something, I tend to look on the internet, read lots of different recipes on how to make it, and compile a consensus on how to do it from all of them. Then I try it, writing down how much of what I used as I go along. This applies more to baking than cooking. Cooking is usually all bets off. I totally substitute/add/omit as I see fit.   Are you happiest calling for delivery or microwaving a lean cuisine, Or will Food Network be asking you to host their new program? I actually used to fantasize about having a show on Food Network ABOUT experimental cooking. There’s so many shows where people know ahead of time the food will be awesome, I think a show where they figure it out through trial and error and learn along the way would be fantastic. I’m not into a LOT of knickknackery these days, but there are definite exceptions! I love stickers though, and magnets are often fun too, though I don’t have a place to put them at the moment.   Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? There are always a LOT of books that I’d love to get!   Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive mangas or anything related to them? I am new to the whole telling-people-on-the-internet-all-the-stuff-you-want thing, and haven’t had money to buy things on the internet for so long I didn’t bother doing it for myself either!   If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? I asked this question, so of course I’m going to say sure! I see stuff in stores all the time that I’m like, “I could make that and it would be so much cheaper/prettier/sturdier”, and I’m not even THAT crafty! So I am sure others do it too!   OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? Well, for ones I normally BUY, I get the really short kind, the ones that just come over the heel and TO the ankle, but don’t cover it much. It just seems like most of the cute socks I see are like that, for one, and also, I have thick ankles so sometimes other socks that fit my feet don’t cooperate with my ankles. But if a sock were magically wide enough, or if I handknit myself socks, I would make them higher I imagine. Like 5 inches past the heel or so? I love the look of knee socks, but again, thick ankles/calves prevent me from wearing them, oh so sadly! …As for patterns, I lovelovelove stripes, polka dots, argyles, and weird/cute/unique prints.   How do people feel about word magnets I absolutely ADORE word magnets! I am not picky about them either, they don’t have to be that traditional brand that is so well-known. Although, I don’t have my own fridge right now so they might not be used very soon and thus maybe other things would be more prioritous? (haha, I like making up my own words too, can you tell?)   If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? Ohhh, this is hard, because I haven’t thought about this in a long time! I am a huge sucker for period costumes, like my favourite costumery is from movies like Dangerous Beauty, Age of Innocence, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, An Ideal Husband…   How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. I LOVE THEM! I actually think lots of samples can be potentially better than a big thing, because if it turns out you don’t like the big thing, that would be sad. As long as they follow the guidelines I have for bath stuff. I don’t mean to be picky but my skin and hair are so dry that I just can’t afford to keep using funky chemicals on them!   What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Or do you just plan on ordering individual items? I am really afraid of random stuff, because some of the notes in the ones I would otherwise love threw me off. Like vetiver in the Bogle? Anyway, I want Slaugh BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADLY. All the Treat stuff sounds pretty delicious (though if Ginger Skulls is anything like Sugar Skulls, I am afraid!) and most of the Trick stuff sounds really iffy (except again, for Slaugh which is epic win!) but I love both shirt designs. I don’t usually even think about getting shirts though, because the fact that I WANT babydoll but NEED a 3X makes me sad sad sad (that they don’t have 3X babydolls, that is)!   9/14/10 Chocolate or other types of candy? I like chocolate, probably better than most things. Lindt is my favourite, but I haven’t tried a lot of different fancy chocolates either, and wouldn’t mind doing so! (though I love coffee, I haven’t been that impressed with the Starbucks chocolates I’ve had)   For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? I will happily use either. Although I recognize and appreciate the fact that flavour is so much better with loose leaf, sometimes I want to take a tea bag to work or something, and dealing with loose leaf at work is not so easy. (I have tried teaballs and the one I had got mineral deposits on it somehow which I am sure was affecting my tea, so I stopped using it). If there is some system you know of that makes loose leaf tea easier to deal with in places where time and convenience is of the essence, I am totally open to that! Otherwise, I will, like I said, happily use either in their respective places!   If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I am a slow knitter and I am a “promiscuous” knitter, haha, meaning only that there is always some project or yarn I want to play with more than the one I am currently working, so I haven’t gotten many finished objects, scandalously enough! So what I mean to say is I don’t have a lot of knitted things. I love just about anything knitted, can’t really think of anything I wouldn’t wear or use, other than maybe legwarmers or a poncho or something like that. Actually, I would probably wear a poncho at home, because it gets SUPER COLD in my house in winter (people I live with are hot-natured AND like saving on bills) so I have been known to actually wear sweatshirts, sweaters, and scarves INDOORS (sometimes combinations thereof!). But a poncho for me would take a lot of yarn. Not being self-deprecating, it’s just the truth!   Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? I’ve always seen a lot of myself in Elliott on Scrubs, which I guess doesn’t sound that flattering to myself but it’s more like along the lines of how she wants so badly to please other people and be liked but should have more confidence in herself. I also feel like the main character in Easy A is pretty hilariously similar to me in a lot of ways. Ok, so I wouldn’t have done what she did, but the whole super-snark and lack of patience with high school dramaz was definitely me. Someone I want to be like? Well, I completely admire “Garcia” from Criminal Minds, because she’s cute as hell while having a style all of her own and being completely unashamed of that. She’s also assertive and snarky, but not as desensitized to horror as the rest of the team so she maintains a sweet innocence anyway. Ok, I totally sound like a dork now overanalyzing TV show characters, but yeah.   Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? Awww, there are a lot of things, but I don’t really have a kitchen right now and haven’t decided on a theme. I talked about this a bit in my questionnaire. What I really need is a coffee grinder, but those are too expensive and I’m picky about them (used to have the kind you can’t clean and that was a PAIN so now I want one that’s either immersible or comes apart) so I would not expect my Witch to get me one! Also, one day when I can afford it and can do the research beforehand, I’m getting a restaurant-grade espresso/milk steaming system. Can you tell I love myself some coffee? OH! I do need a candy thermometer. I don’t know how much those are cos I can’t seem to find one.   Music, DO you prefer Live or Studio? Edited or explicit? It depends really. Studio stuff usually sounds better, but sometimes live can be fun. I always want whatever it is in its original form.   If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most? I’m not super into dogs, but I do LOVE Boston Terriers. I don’t have one…yet! I’ve seen the Animal Planet thing on them and looked them up in books and know three people who have them, and they just seem like the most perfect dog for me. I am primarily a cat and guinea pig person though, when it comes to pets. I have a fascination with reptiles though. And frogs, which are of course amphibians, but most other amphibians are not that appealing.   Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? I LOVE moonflowers, tried to grow them once but it didn’t happen. I also love irises. Something about the frilly, vibrant-coloured petals. I love honeysuckle and mimosa for their smell, but I guess those aren’t typically actually cultivated. Um, trees are big, but my favourites are jacarandas and Japanese maples.   Do you have a favorite quotation? Song lyric? Book passage? Or Cleopatra Testing Poisons on Those Condemned to Death.   Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that you have some children/spawn… I truncated this cos I haz no childrens so it’s N/A!   Is there anything you would like that can be delivered over the internet? Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that I have never gotten into fanfic. I used to be a writer and the idea of someone taking my well-thought-up/out characters and make them do weird things like have pedophiliac buttseks with each other just creeps me out completely. I don’t mean to be vulgar or offensive in my wording here, but this is the bulk of the fanfic world that I have heard about. I must admit one of my favourite book series ever (Enola Holmes) could be technically deconstructed into being called fanfic, but at least nothing glaringly “non-canonical” occurs! Anyway, this question wasn’t ALL ABOUT fanfic, so moving on! …I LOVE cat macros, also love Cute Overload but always forget to go look at it. My favourites are the cat ones and ones involving random animals. Someone on the forum once posted a picture of a goat chilling on top of a horse (description sounds weird and uncute but it was awesome!) and that stuff is great. I don’t get into dogs much (Boston terriers are the exception, as above) but when dogs are being peaceful with rabbits or cats and stuff, sometimes that’s really adorable too. …I love craft tutorials, though usually like the webpage/typed out ones as opposed to videos. I am a dork who likes to print them and keep them in a notebook and you can’t do that with videos! I do like videos of different stuff but don’t have a lot of time I can internet on a computer where I can also listen to sound. I’m usually at school or work using the internet. I do have it at home but I might be on the computer briefly to check something before passing out. …mp3’s would be AWESOME, I really have no idea how to find them anymore (I can’t/don’t/won’t do iTunes).   What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang) So hard to decide! Well, I have to go to Will Call to know for sure which Weenies I want. I would hate to wish for stuff and have my darling Witch buy it and then find out it turns to funky nast on my skin. :/ …I explained this later on/further up.   How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? I LOOOOOOOOOVE pens. The cuter the better, and in every colour. The only colour I DON’T like is traditional “blue pen” blue. Teals, turquoises, royals, all good. As for paper and stationery, I LOVE that too! I love dark and elegant stuff, wild and funky stuff, cute and silly stuff. The only stuff I don’t like is stuff that is drab or floral in a wallpaper way (though maybe even that statement can be misleading since wallpaper is getting pretty nowadays!).   Would you like homemade preserves (e.g. marinated vegies, pickled onions, chilli jam?) I would love homemade preserves! I would eat any of that mentioned and more! I am not picky when it comes to fruits or vegetables, and I am openminded to different combinations (my boss made red wine rosemary jam, and it was delicious!)   If you've got stuff on your BPAL wishlist, would partial bottles be okay? Of course! I’m not a stickler about stuff like this. I don’t mind stained labels either (well as long as they are only stained with inocuous things like the oils themselves or ink or whatever!). As long as you’re not licking your bottles/imps or sneezing on them or something, everything is lovely!   Would you like something you have to make yourself? I love craft supplies, so yes! I’m usually a little less thrilled with kits, they often come with stuff I don’t really think should be part of it, and end up adding something else to it too. Haha, I do the same thing with cooking recipes. I guess I don’t follow instructions well? Haha! But some kits are awesome, and I have things I can mix and match with, so if you think it’s awesome for me, don’t let that stop you!   Say you were my witchee, and I found things on your wishlist that I could totally make. Now I feel dumb!   Who is your favorite soap etailer? I don’t really have one! I think I talked about this on my questionnaire too but I have soap companies I have looked at and most have fallen short of my expectations (LUSH, Villainess). I want all-natural soap, darnit! I am determined to find a company I can respect and like!   What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? I LOVE vintage decoration stuff. And it’s really fitting now that I’m using an awesome funky green 70’s couch, haha! I really like some of the 70’s crewel work in particular. And mushroom themed stuff NEVER gets old! Well, it does get old, but that’s the charm!   With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? I think I’m inclined to go with build up of awesomeness, but really I don’t mind either way! I know it can be hard to coordinate something like that!   What kind of make-up do you wear? What colors? Is there anything you'd like to try but haven't yet? I mostly only wear eyeliner and eyeshadow. I’m really interested in all this mineral eyeshadow that everyone’s talking about these days. I like dark colours, metallic colours, bold colours, and really bright colours. And then I also like shimmery light pink and shimmery skintone-ish (I’m pale, so this means cream or very creamy taupes and beiges, just for eye-blending since I don’t generally wear face makeup (it goops up my pores—I’ve stopped getting pimples ever since I gave up the stuff, I don’t even use powder anymore, though I would if I had some nice mineral stuff maybe). I’d like to eventually go natural with my makeup like I have bath/body stuff but I haven’t found resources for this yet! Garlic, garlic, and GARLIC! Haha, yeah, I love garlic. I also put pepper on just about everything, though I don’t have a pepper grinder. I tend to use onion powder a lot in cooking because I like the depth of flavour it gives and I tend to not like using real onions themselves. I also love cumin and curry. My favourite herbs are thyme and basil. My favourite “spice” spices are cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg. Cinnamon and clove are pretty essential too, but I think of them in terms of being foundation or supporting players. Cardamom and ginger are movie stars!   Microsoft or Apple? Neither really. I’m sort of thematically opposed to big business as a whole. :/   Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? Vacation… um… wow. It was a crazy spur-of-the-moment idea a friend had. He liked going to conventions so he tossed 6 of us in two cars and we drove the 9 hours from Dallas to NOLA. I absolutely adore the elegant stuff, and gothy stuff, and spooky stuff, and campy stuff, and cute stuff. I don’t usually get into crafty/folksy, though the cute stuff and that stuff sometimes crossover. It kind of depends. I could find pictures if it really matters, haha, but the other categories are always safe!   Do you like journals/notebooks/sketchbooks? I looooooooooooooooooooooove them! If it’s paper, I love it, pretty much. And yes, that means I even like JUST paper, like scrapbook paper. But anyway, I remember in the past a lot of mine have been Papyrus or Antioch, but it’s been a LONG while since I bought one so I don’t know if they are still awesome or not. I tend to gravitate towards spirals, or if not, at least those kind of bound journals that actually will stay open for you. I like the spiral to be covered/protected so it doesn’t snag on stuff because just about anything bookish I own gets tossed into the tote/satchel/knapsack of DOOM. Again here, not into “wallpapery” florals but dramatic florals, funky designs, cute stuff, damasks, weird art, etc are all awesome!   9/11/10 Cake truffles? If YES! Cake/icing/chocolate type? As far as I’m concerned, the icing part of cake is the yuckiest part, so I’m not sure I would actually like these if made with cake mix cake and store icing. Again, sorry to be a food snob! Homemade cake and ganache sound good? There’s a cupcake bakery in Atlanta that should make these with their cupcakes that aren’t perfectly formed. Their cake AND icing are both awesome. I should suggest that to them!   Are you interested in mini bottles(under 100ml for hand luggage) of bath and body products? I actually NEVER freaking go anywhere, so I’m not sure these would be useful! 11/1/10 Would you like a box filled with Christmas/Yule treats?   No thanks, I'm not really big on Christmas. But if they're edible, I don't care what holiday they represent!   Darling Witchee, are you in on this NaNoWriMo craziness? Would you like motivational pings/writing instruments/lovely blank books in which to pen your masterpiece   No NaNoWriMo for me!   10/29/10 Did you know BPAL is on etsy with leftover trunk show bottles? Would you like any of them?   I didn't know, but then I looked and they didn't look like anything I really "needed" plus I'm sure they're gone now.   10/28/10 Would you prefer to have your final package before Halloween or have a reveal package at the end of the round?   I'd like more witchiness til the end of the round - it doesn't need to be more stuff, as my witch has sent me plenty, but I want to save the reveal for close to the end if that's ok with my witch.   Do you prefer lip balm in a tube or tin?   Tube, I hate getting it under my nails. But I have a lip brush for must-haves that are in tins.   10/21/10 What are you most interested in from the Yule update?   I dunno, I am so bad at checking these things. I have been feeling like crap for the last few days. I don't know what's wrong with me but it reminds me of the way I used to feel when I drank a lot. I've felt kind of spaced out a lot of the time, achey, irritable, about to cry at the drop of a hat, and......just not myself. It really sucks and I don't know if it's the full moon, or if I'm fighting a cold or something, or just allergies, but I don't like this. Do not like this. It's almost like when I had mono, so maybe that is flaring up again. I've read that it can come back after being dormant for a long time (would be years in my case).   Anyway, I apologize for my behavior to anyone who happens to read this.

Am I caught up yet?

First off, dear Witch, thank you for being so awesome! I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful decants earlier, but I have been running around like a crazy chicken, and I'm a little scattered at the moment. I was so surprised to get that package, you have no idea. I know you said you were packing something up in your mail, but that was literally the day before the package arrived. So either that was the fastest package EVER, or you have minions! Magical minions of awesome. Anyway, I have been having so much fun this weekend, testing things and making everyone else sniff them. My mother really liked Wild Swans at Coole(I was hoping she might). So a bottle of that might be making it's way into her stocking this year. And the only reason I am able to make that call is because you are so awesome! Thank you also for the reading! I think I might know what you are talking about. It does make sense. I only hope it isn't a warning not to go overboard purchasing Yules.   Though I don't think you need it--because you are amazing-- here is some quick ketchup(just in case):     10/13/10 Today I got one of the Starbucks Halloween Bearista Bears - it's dressed like a werewolf! Is this something witchees might like? Not really my thing. They are cute, but have a tendency to become clutter around here. Are you interested in Halloween costumes for your pet(s)? No, thank you.   10/14/10 Do you prefer scented or unscented lotions/moisturizers? either/or   10/18/10 So....let's say that you're my witchee, and you have an affinity for widgets. Let's also pretend that I sent you one of these widgets, but in a form that has a very special personal significance to me. After that, Waltz of the Flowers, Sugar Plum Fairy, maybe Waltz of the Snowflakes, Autumn and Winter, and a few of the Christmas Carol ones-- but I haven't spent too much time contemplating. There is lots of time for Yule contemplation yet. Oh, and the Butterfly, and maybe the Lilac Wood from the Last Unicorn.   But I think I am good for scents. Last unicorn that sounds good

What are you most interested in from the Yule update? This update HURTS! Normally Yules are the update that I love most, and due to some unforeseen financial circumstances (HUGE vet bills), I’m not going to be ordering much, or probably any for that matter this year. Of course when I made that decision yesterday the update hadn’t come out. Now that it has, I’m pining after so many of them, that I will have to look at selling some blood or something to order some. In any case I won’t be ordering any until after the first of the year. Ok, that was a really long winded way to get to the list of lust: Klara The Soldier The Waltz of the Snowflakes A World of Fools Incessant Torture of Remorse The First of Three Spirits The Second of Three Spirits Changing the Shadows Whoop Chanukkiyah 2010 Egg Nog 2010 Gingerbread Poppet 2010 Jacob’s Ladder 2010 Snow White 2010 Winter Time Woods in Winter Yule 2010   CRAP! Forget selling blood, I think I need to sell a kidney. Or maybe my house…   If you were my witchee, would you want to receive Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, or wouldn't that be your cup of classics? Not my idea of a good read Would you like some homemade snack mix? Yes, as long as it wasn’t too spicey Knitterly Witchees, would you like a yarn bowl? I’m not knitterly, but I’ve started crocheting again and those bowls look like a fabulous idea! Hannah the cat seems to think that crochet is an interactive game. So....let's say that you're my witchee, and you have an affinity for widgets. Let's also pretend that I sent you one of these widgets, but in a form that has a very special personal significance to me. Would you find that to be touching (in a "Yay, now I'll always use this and think of my witch!" way) or tacky (in a "My witch is making this all about her!" way)? I would love it and think of you whenever I used/saw it. Incidentally I love widgets and gadgets of all sorts, especially if they can be played with in the kitchen. Have you had a chance to try Halloweenies? If so, which ones are you really really in love with this year? I just got my order and am in lust with The Infernal Lover. Lets just admit it right now: I’m a whore for anything with red musk! Pocket shrines! Would you like one, made for a particular obsession of yours? Neat idea, but I’m not sure what I would do with one.

Thoughts on the Yule 2010 Update

So many scents to try! With the Yules going like along with the first of the Last Unicorn I'm going to have to chain my wallet to me to keep it from running away.   My thoughts:   Beaver Moon '10- I will be splitting a bottle of this with a local friend. I'm hoping for more of '05 then '07 with it. I haven't tried any due to anything older then '06 usually not working on me, and '07 being more cherry then strawberry. I have high hopes for some lovely cheesecakey goodness and another great bedtime scent as that is what I use most foody blends for.   Looks like I'll be getting to try a fair number of the blends I want from this update with running a decant circle for my local friends. This might be good, I have been wanting a candied fruit scent lately. 4/5   The Nutcracker.....”frankincense, black mission fig, and galbanum” Oooh, this sounds good....I’m not always crazy about galbanum but it can be okay in the right proportions. Love the simplicity. This is possibly a bottle unsniffed. Thinking about it today. 5/5   The Clock Strikes Midnight.....black currant, frankincense, blue musk, mugwort, and wisteria” Awww....I love the name and concept! Too bad the notes don’t appeal. Might be worth a sniff. 2/5   The Rat King 2010.....”Dust, wood and feral musk with a fang-sharp undertone” Never was really interested in this one. Might be worth a sniff. 2/5   The Waltz Of The Snowflakes.....”vanilla-laced snow, graceful and sweet, with fir needle and black pine bark” I’m all over the pine! Very interesed! 4/5   Ebenezer Scrooge....”neglected leather, oakmoss, tonka bean, black pepper, cumin, and vetiver” Potential.....but again, black pepper. Hmmm. 3/5   Christmas Eve In The Counting House.....”Creaky wood, thick fog, and dying embers” Hmmm, maybe an ozone scent? Love the concept, I’m interested. 4/5   A World Of Fools......”Figgy pudding with a stake of holly through its heart” Yes! I must smell this. 5/5   Marley’s Ghost.....”grave-cold phantasmal iron links” Well, the metal scents are a little harsh sometimes....too cologne-like....but this does have some potential. Worth a sniff. 3/5   Incessant Torture Of Remorse.....”opopponax, lavender, blackberry, patchouli, olive leaf, myrtle, and white cognac” No clue. There is potential here. 3/5   The Chained Phantoms.....”ice-limned white wine grape, balsam of peru, and chamomile” This sounds good, but it sounds like The Shivering Boy and I already have that, and don’t wear it enough. Possible decant though, pending reviews. 3/5   The First Of The Three Spirits.....”Shimmering white amber, voluminous vanilla, white musk, zdravetz, and summer flowers” Sounds pretty but not really for me. Might still be worth a sniff! 3/5   A Cold, Clear Winter Day.....”Winter tuberoses bending gently in a crisp, cold breeze” I think I can pass on this one. 2/5   The School.....”In the corner of a desolate, dismal schoolhouse, all lonely stone walls, beeswax, and dusty wooden writing desks, stirs the scent of gold coins hidden in forest outside Baghdad, waves crashing against the hull of a Salé pirate ship, the lofty halls of Pépin le Bossu’s court, and a wild child’s home in the woods” Ooooo.....this has a lot of potential.....definitely worth a try. This could be a good 'work' scent, and possible bottle. 4/5   Mr. Fezziwig’s Ball......”Mince pie, dark beer, a well-loved spruce wood fiddle, and bow resin” Sounds really good if the beer is not too strong. 4/5   A Golden Idol.....”antiqued amber, English lavender, vetiver, and tea rose” This would have potential except for the tea rose. No thank you. 2/5   The Second Of The Three Spirits.....”Pine boughs, plum pudding, spiced pears, sugared chestnuts, punch floated with oranges, boughs of holly, and myrica berries” Wow, that sounds awesome. Kind of like Knecht Ruprecht, which I love, but maybe even better? 4/5   Bob Cratchit’s Hearth.....”Glowing firewood and sherry-cobbler” Hmmmm....not even sure what sherry-cobbler is. Is this a boozy scent? Could have a lot of potential if it’s not too boozy. Edit: sherry-cobbler is sherry with orange. Still think this might be good. Reminds me of Philosopher's Meditation. 4/5   Christmas Eve On The Moor.......”Windswept moor grass, grey moss, mud, and stone warmed by a small, comfortable fire” Think I can pass on this one. 2/5   Ignorance And Want.....”Bog myrtle, wormwood accord, carrot seed, lovage, Roman chamomile, orris root, myrrh, and patchouli” I want to try this. Could be another 'work' scent. 4/5   A Game Called Yes & No.....”Mulled wine and marzipan” I think I can pass on this one. It might be nice enough but the mazipan could be a little candy-dusty. 3/5   The Last Of The Spirits.....”Blackcurrant, myrrh, and vetiver” Maybe. Just maybe. 4/5   An Altar To Cold, Rigid, Dreadful Death....”Black cedar, frankincense, and dust” Has potential, might be kind of harsh. 3/5   Shadows Of What May Be.....”A deserted, dismal grave: upturned earth, overgrown grass, and dead weeds” I think I can safely pass on this one. 2/5   Changing The Shadows.....”vanilla, orange blossom, white sandalwood, mate, red tea, and carnation” Sounds very pretty! Maybe a little girlie. Edit: I think this will be one of the more popular, maybe sought-after scents. I will keep an eye on reviews, in case it becomes hard to find some day. Wouldn't want to miss out. 3/5   Whoop.....”crisp winter air, shimmering amber, sweet honey, with a touch of pumpkin pie, pine cone, cranberry, and bayberry” Oooooooh, I want to try this. Sounds totally yum! 5/5   Autumn And Winter.....”Bitter currant and dry leaves. Winter wind at dusk” Might be good......I like leafy scents. Worth a try. Decant first. 4/5   Chanukkiyah 2010.....”Olive oil, beeswax, glowing amber, sweet sufganiyot, pomegranate, and fig” I never tried the previous one. I’d like to try this. 4/5   Egg Nog 2010.....”Sweet brandy, dark rum, heavy cream, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg” The previous Egg Nog that I tried disappeared instantly on my skin leaving behind almost no scent at all. Those notes sound good, but I probably will pass on this. 2/5   Gelt 2010.....”Dry cocoa and golden amber!” I’m not a fan of cocoa scents. My friend really likes this so I know I can always sniff hers if I feel a burning desire to. 2/5   Gingerbread Poppet 2010.....”Warm, cozy gingerbread spiced with nutmeg, clove and cinnamon” The last version of this was just a little harsh for me, a little too scorched. I still have my decant of that and I’ve barely worn it at all. I think I can pass this year. 2/5   Haloa 2010.....”Wine grapes, pomegranate, myrrh, frankincense and olive leaf, and the warm scent of offertory cakes” I love Haloa! Yet another scent that I don’t wear and appreciate often enough. I only have a decant from way back when. Could be time for a bottle? 4/5   Jacob’s Ladder 2010.....”golden amber, galbanum, benzoin, ambrette, rockrose, costus and tonka” I tried this waaay back in 2006, and I remember that it went straight to powder. Now, I have come to appreciate powdery scents a little more. Still, with so many other wonderful things in this update, I think I can pass for now. 2/5   Jolasveinar 2010.....I have enough Jolasveinar. It’s one of my favorite scents and I don’t wear it enough! 1/5 just because I have more than 5ml already.   Lick It Vigorously......”This is a candy cane perfume, minty, sweet and sugared” Never was really drawn to these, although I love the name! 2/5   Midnight Mass 2010.....Possible bottle, one of my favorites. Never bought a bottle before but I have 2 older decants. 4/5   Noche Buena 2010.....still have some of this from before, don’t wear it very often. The lily comes close to being soapy but I still like it. Pass this time around. 2/5   Peacock Queen, Rose Red, and Snow White 2010......have decants already, don’t need more. I do like Snow White an awful lot but I don’t wear it enough get a botte.   Winter-time.....”Sweet, soft snow” Interesting! I would like to sniff this. 3/5   Woods In Winter.....”Wild hemlock and juniper berries scattered in the snow beneath leafless trees bedecked with glittering icicles” I am all about woods! Hope it’s not too much like November. Maybe another 'work' scent. 4/5   Yule 2010.....tried an older one, didn’t like it so much. 2/5   The Last Unicorn......I can skip this whole section. Never read this story so it doesn’t carry any associations for me, and none of the scents sound all that appealing to me.

If so, which ones are you really really in love with this year?   I haven't tried any, but some of the more foodie ones (especially Ginger Skulls) sound fun.   Pocket shrines! Would you like one, made for a particular obsession of yours?   Maybe... the example posted in the thread looked cute.   10/14/10 Do you prefer scented or unscented lotions/moisturizers?   I prefer scented. I usually use lotions at night and BPAL in the morning, so they don't often conflict.   10/13/10 Today I got one of the Starbucks Halloween Bearista Bears - it's dressed like a werewolf! Is this something witchees might like?   Hey, it's my question! I already have one!   Are you interested in Halloween costumes for your pet(s)?   As fun as I would find it, I have a feeling the cats wouldn't put up with it at all. So no, unless it's a festive collar.   10/12/10 Would you want your witch to reveal his/herself? How?   I would love to know who my fabulous witch is at the end of the round.   10/9/10 I came home with some Dungeon Crawl and some Bedbugs yesterday. If you were my witchee, would you want some of either/both?   I'd love to try either if you think I might like them.

11/3/10 So what do you want from Paintbox Soapworks' Yule release? Comfort and Joy. Just the name is wonderful, but the notes added in, mmmmmmm   11/1/10 Would you like a box filled with Christmas/Yule treats? If you so feel like, Witch, sure!   Darling Witchee, are you in on this NaNoWriMo craziness? Would you like motivational pings/writing instruments/lovely blank books in which to pen your masterpiece - No. No NaNowhatsis for me. But I would love a seal and some wax for letter-writing... In fact, there just might be some I keep admiring on my Amazon list   10/29/10 Did you know BPAL is on etsy with leftover trunk show bottles? Would you like any of them? Nah. At least none of this current round. 10/28/10 Would you prefer to have your final package before Halloween or have a reveal package at the end of the round? I believe my procrastination in answering this question may have answered this one for me...   Do you prefer lip balm in a tube or tin? Slight preference for tube - don't like getting it under my nails.
