Question List of Doom

What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? Pickled imp. I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? No, thank you. I love cozy things, but have plenty of blankies.   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? I might, but I wouldn't buy anything that I would mind duplicates of.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? I don't wear one.   What is your favorite art movement and/or style? ie impressionist, surrealist, art nouveau, etc. Post-impressionism and pre-Raphaelite. I also like fine art photography. I don't care for modern art or Monet.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose. I don't drink tea, but I like my coffee whole bean and unflavored.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? Yes! I am cold all winter long, and love having warm things to wear. I don't really wear mittens, though. Gloves, hats and scarves get lots of love.   What manner of affordable Witchery might you covet? Burned music or online playlists or lists of recommended music. Baked goods. Whatever your craft may be. A Flickr set of pictures taken of great buildings or places around your town.   Does your cell phone have a place to attach charms? No.   How do people feel about receiving baked goods/kits to make said goods? Or other cooking items? Would you enjoy oil or vinegar flavored with herbs grown at home? Strange and exotic spices with recipes to try? Cookies made with carnation petals? Yes, yes and yes. Except if the spices are weird, please let me know what to do with them!   Who here is a complete, over the top, Alice In Wonderland fanatic? Not over the top, but I do collect Alice stuff.   Are you a Trekkie? If so, which series do you prefer? Do you have a favorite character? I don't like sci fi in general. Exceptions are the new Dr. Who and Torchwood and Farscape.   Do you have phobias? Falling. Heights (see: falling). Vomit. How do you like your mix CDs? Random? Stuff you know you'll like? I want what you think I'd like, or what you think I should be exposed to.   Would you rather get food or jewellery? Jewelry.   Do you like children's toys, such as jacks, those little things you tilt around to get the ball in the right hold (wtf are those called?), the aforementioned caplet dinosaurs, cap guns, etc?: I like them, but I don't necessarily want them.     English candy/tea/marmite or other stuff that you love and can't easily get outside of England? I've always wanted to try musk flavored candy, even though it scares me a little.     Fanfic as a gift* - yay or nay? Your fandom? Slash preferences?*well, a virtual gift obviously. You know what I mean. No, thank you.   Band-aids: do you like the fun and funky ones? I like the fun ones, except for the kind that look like bacon. Those freak me out.   play video games? Platform? Do you like used games? We have a Wii and PS2, but I only ever play Guitar Hero.     What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? Neutral shades that can last the workday. I've never tried MAC, but want to.   Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? I love it, but I usually go for gloss or sparkle without color.   Are you active on any other boards/forums? If so please specify where and your username there. Only on Ravelry. I'm autumnbriars there, too, but you have to be a member to access the site.   Where are a few of your favorite places? Anyplace with an ocean, or a historical urban area. Assateague Island. New Orleans.   Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? Yes! I've been wanting to try soap from Gothic Rosary, and Vampire's Garden from Nocturne Alchemy.   What size socks do you wear? How about hat size? Hats usually run towards smaller sizes, and socks should fit a woman's 6.5-7 foot.   Do you read comics? Which ones do you love and which can't you stand? I don't like most, but I've enjoyed Fell and Buffy.   Symbols that are meaningful to me? Hands. Spirals. Willow trees.   What's your favorite type of music to hear live, rather than recorded? I'd rather hear just about all music live than recorded, but singer-songwriter type folk is probably my favorite.   What is your favorite autumnal-seasonal drink? Pumpkin spice lattes.   Crossword puzzles? Other pencil puzzles? Can't stand them.   Favorite poet? Walt Whitman. Poe.   Halloween. Do you like it kooky or creepy? A little of both. Reserved or Raunchy? Pretty reserved.   Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? Earth.   Fruity snacks or chocolate? Chocolate. Dark chocolate.   Would you accept art? Sure.   Antiques or Brand New? Antiques.   What keywords do you use when searching for items for yourself on Etsy? yarn, handspun, steampunk, victorian   i haz no imp storage. do you? Computer woes

As some of you know, my husband's hard drive died. He got a new one as his old one was under warranty... and after about six hours of working just fine (with all the updates and formatting) the computer shut off like it'd been doing before. He thinks this is indicative of an issue with overheating, but WHAT is overheating? Or it could be the power supply. If he tries to turn it back on, it goes into this loop of the boot screen, then loading windows, then a flash of blue and then wash, rinse, repeat. Add that to the fact that we're on an excruciatingly tight budget this month, and he is going to have to slog along with his old one- which is unstable as it is. So, yeah. This has attached to my depression in a big way. Fun stuff.

Tiki Queen

Oh wow, I love this! In the bottle it was a sweet, fruity, almost candy/bubblegum scent.   On my skin it blends into this beautiful, lush tropical scent. Finally, a blend where the ylang ylang doesn't take over! It isn't too floral, with just the right about of fruitiness, and as it dries something a bit green keeps this from going to sweet.   In my locket it is delicious, but in a completely different way. It is brighter and more fruity and just a bit more bubblegum smelling.   I absolutely LOVE it! Now I just need to track down more!

Some Gaiman scent reviews

Snow, Glass, ApplesShe said nothing. Her eyes were black as coal, black as her hair; her lips were redder than blood. She looked up at me and smiled. Her teeth seemed sharp, even then, in the lamplight.   "What are you doing away from your room?"   "I'm hungry," she said, like any child.   It was winter, when fresh food is a dream of warmth and sunlight; but I had strings of whole apples, cored and dried, hanging from the beams of my chamber, and I pulled an apple down for her.   "Here."   Autumn is the time of drying, of preserving, a time of picking apples, of rendering the goose fat. Winter is the time of hunger, of snow, and of death; and it is the time of the midwinter feast, when we rub the goose-fat into the skin of a whole pig, stuffed with that autumn's apples, then we roast it or spit it, and we prepare to feast upon the crackling.   She took the dried apple from me and began to chew it with her sharp yellow teeth.   "Is it good?"   She nodded. I had always been scared of the little princess, but at that moment I warmed to her and, with my fingers, gently, I stroked her cheek. She looked at me and smiled -- she smiled but rarely -- then she sank her teeth into the base of my thumb, the Mound of Venus, and she drew blood.   I began to shriek, from pain and from surprise; but she looked at me and I fell silent.     Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab is thrilled to present a numbered, limited edition chapbook of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed short story, Snow, Glass, Apples, beautifully illustrated by Julie Dillon. Each package includes a 5ml bottle of perfume, created by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, that was inspired by the tale. In Neil's words, 'It smells like green apples and like sex and vampires, all at the same time. (Actually, it smells like sexy vampire apples.)' This set is a limited run of 1000. 250 were sold by CBLDF at San Diego Comic Con 2008, and the remainder are available through the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab web site. Snow, Glass, Apples will be available on the BPAL site as long as supplies last. This is a charitable, not-for-profit venture: proceeds from every single set go to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, which works to preserve and protect the First Amendment rights of the comics community.   A million thanks and all our love to Neil, and to Charles Brownstein and his staff at the CBLDF! This is awesome. In the bottle, it smells like apples, mint and something else I can't really pin down. On wet, the mint is very strong. Dry, this is just great. Apples, a touch of mint, that elusive something, and cold. This is the first time I've tried one of the wintry scents, and it definitely smells cold. Very nice.   Mama-JiShadow saw the old woman, her dark face pinched with age and disapproval, but behind her he saw something huge, a naked woman with skin as black as a new leather jacket, and lips and tongue the bright red of arterial blood. Around her neck were skulls, and her many hands held knives, and swords, and severed heads.   Spices, cardamom, nutmeg, and flowers. In the bottle, I get lovely spices. The cardamom and nutmeg, maybe some cinnamon, not sure what else. On wet, still lovely spices. Unfortunately, when this dries, it turns to spices and baby powder on me. Bummer. It smelled so nice wet.   Mad Sweeney"Coin tricks is it?" asked Sweeney, his chin raising, his scruffy beard bristling. "Why, if it's coin tricks we're doing, watch this."   He took an empty glass from the table. Then he reached out and took a large coin, golden and shining, from the air. He dropped it into the glass. He took another gold coin from the air and tossed it into the glass, where it clinked against the first. He took a coin from the candle flame of a candle on the wall, another from his beard, a third from Shadow's empty left hand, and dropped them, one by one, into the glass. Then he curled his fingrs over the glass, and blew hard, and several more golden coins dropped into the glass from his hand. He tipped the glass of sticky coins into his jacket pocket, and then tapped the pocket to show, unmistakably, that it was empty.   "There," he said. "That's a coin trick for you."   Barrel-aged whiskey and oak. I love this! In the bottle and on wet, it smells very strongly of whiskey, with maybe a tiny bit of the oak. Once it dries, however, it's this lovely combination of whiskey, oak and smoky spices. To quote my hubby, "Ooh, it smells like a fireplace" (in the best possible way). Love it.   BilquisThe Queen of Sheba, half-demon, they said, on her father's side, witch woman, wise woman, and queen, who ruled Sheba when Sheba was the richest land there ever was, when its spices and its gems and scented woods were taken by boat and camel-back to the corners of the earth, who was worshipped even when she was alive, worshipped as a living goddess by the wisest of kings, stands on the sidewalk of Sunset Boulevard at 2:00 A.M. staring blankly out at traffic like a slutty plastic bride on a black-and-neon wedding cake. She stands as if she owns the sidewalk and the night that surrounds her.   Honey, myrrh, lily of the valley, rose otto, fig leaf, almond, ambrette, red apple, and warm musk.   In the bottle, this is spicy, with honey and almond. There's also a bit of green that I think may be the fig leaf, and something else. The ambrette? On wet, the myrrh comes out a bit, but not overwhelmingly so. It's still mostly a spicy/honey/almond scent. Dry, the rose comes out, but surprisingly, it's not bad. This is really nice. Definitely my thing.

Bunch of small testers. would you like to receive Groupons or similar deals/gift certificates from your Witch? No thanks How about tshirt/bottoms sizes? XL   9/03/10 Hallowe'en plans? No, unfortunately Mix CDs? No thanks, I’m good! Girlyness level? Low. Jeans/T-shirt/sneakers/sweatshirt type person, very little makeup. I don't enjoy clothes shopping, but do like to shop for other stuff, especially online.   9/4/10 Are you into Austen's books? No. Do you read Tarot cards? If not, would you be interested? No, but I’d be interested in learning. So for those of you who are into Harry Potter at all, which house do you think you'd be sorted into? Not a Harry Potter fan. Knitted things?: Yes! If you are a crafter, would you like to receive supplies from your witch (beads, fabric, yarn/roving etc?) Not currently crafting, unfortunately. Would you like something you have to make yourself? For example, a kit to knit your own soft toy, or a card making kit, or baking kit, etc. And is there anything in particular you'd like to learn? I've tried (and failed) at knitting, but other kits would be welcome. Would you like homemade preserves? Not really into them.   9/13: How do you feel about stationery, like nice pens or notepaper? And if you're in favor, do you prefer classic/contemporary or cutesy stuff? I have terrible handwriting so I never write letters, but for everyday writing, I love gel pens and sticky pads. Who is your favorite soap etailer? Moona Lisam, Solstice Scents, LUSH. I’d also like to try Tartchef’s Paintbox soaps. What about vintage decoration items, teacups, etc etc? I like them a lot, especially if nature themed. With regards to your gifts, would you prefer your presents' awesomeness evenly spread out (several packages of pretty terrific things) over the round or a slow build-up of awesomeness (going up from pretty cool things to something super-duper cool at the end) to go out with a bang? Do you have a preference? Whatever my Witch wants to do is fine with me. Who would be on your top 5 (IE famous people you’d date/have relations with? God, I’m too tired to even want a date right now. LOL. Do you crave many Ecards and contact or are you okay with little contact from your Witch? I like contact and e-mails, but being an extremely busy person myself, I can understand if that’s not doable. Do you have a place where you list all the BPAL you have or have tried? No. That would be quite an undertaking but I should definitely start. Do you like maple sugar candy? It’s okay. What is your position on the chocolate & bacon flavor combination? No thanks!!! If you are a tea-drinker do you need a tea-cozie for your pot? No thanks. Go to your spice cabinet, what are the three most used spices? Garlic, italian spices, chipotle, Microsoft or Apple? Microsoft. Where was your last vacation? What did you like most? My son and I went to Florida in April. What I liked most was seeing my parents, being able to sleep late, and not having to work. I hadn’t had a vacation in 4 years and it felt so good! Would you appreciate receiving handwritten letters and/or postcards (anonymous or not)? How about sending them? I love hearing from people either by letter or e-mail, but I don’t like to write letters because of my handwriting. And the fact that I can type SO much faster, LOL. Do you hate any food things with a passion?? Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, internal organs of any kind. Would you be opposed to receiving a digital version (via email) of a magazine you like but don't subscribe to...you know, in the interest of saving a tree? I spend 99.9% of my life in front of a computer, so I’d rather have the magazine itself.   9/14/10 Chocolate or other types of candy? Any chocolate except dark. I love nuts, caramel, toffee, coconut. I also love hard candies. There’s not much that I don’t like. For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? Tea bags. If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? I’ve never owned a pair of knitted socks, so that would be phenomenal! I only have one scarf/glove set so another would be welcome too. Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, etc? Probably a garlic press since I can’t find mine. If you are an animal lover, is there a specific type/breed that you love most? I love all cats. Also flowers and plants- If you like flowers/plants, do you have a favorite(s)? Blue morning glories, blue hydrangeas, sweet pea, orchids. There’s not much I don’t like. Do you have a favorite quotation? Song lyric? Book passage? Nope. What is a bpal scent that you've been dying to try for awhile but just can't find? (A scent where even a tester would do) The Witch's Candy and Gingerbread Cottage Atmospheric Spray. Let's say, hypothetically speaking, that you have some children/spawn (1 or more), and, hypothetically speaking, your witch would like to spoil them a little but knows nothing of kids these days. What do they like or dislike? Also is there anything a (sane) adult might think they would like that you don't think is appropriate for whatever reason? (I'm thinking of things like temp tattoos, make up, things that make noise, or anything else that might be bad for non-obvious reasons.) I have a 15 year old son who loves sour candy and sparkle laffy taffy. Is there anything you would like that can be delivered over the internet? Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that. No. What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang) Probably spaghetti and meatballs, garlic mozzarella bread, glass of Pinot Grigio, a nice salad, and ice cream for dessert. NaNoWriMo? Nope.   9/15/10 How do you feek about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? No thanks Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them? Nope. Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Absolutely, I love surprises! If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? That would be great! OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? I would love for them to be long enough to come up to just below the knee. Not too particular about material, as long as it’s not scratchy. Colors – anything but red, purple, or grey, but those colors are okay if they are in with a mish-mash of other colors. How do people feel about word magnets? No thanks. If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? Not a movie character, but I love the necklace Giada DeLaurentis wears. I think it’s 3 stranded with intermittent diamonds. How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. I love trying stuff from other etailers. Another company I've been looking to try is LUSH. Addiction hits home

Hah one hour into the forum and here I am already contemplating a BIG order. I have to say that none of my bottles got really empty during that year and ALL my imps have aged beautifully.   I have to get the two scents the Lab made for Ted's+Beth's baby - they just sound too wonderful not to get them. Sweet, powdery baby scents are right my thing. I hated Snake Oil because it turned into something awful on me, but my aged Imp smells beautiful. Then Alice, White Rabbit and Dana O'Shee tell me to finally buy them too. Persephone wants to come along as well. Am I stupid - 6 bottles? That would double my stash   Let's see and compare notes: The ones I have already:   Snow White A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. Dragon Moon dragon's blood resin, tea leaf, bamboo reed, sandalwood and cherry blossom. Antique Lace A soft, wistful blend of dry flowers, aged linens, and the faint breath of long-faded perfumes. Dragon's Milk Dragon's blood resin and honeyed vanilla. Enraged Bunny Musk Soft cotton blossom, white musk, baby's breath, clover and pale powder notes. Hearth This is the scent of candied chestnuts, buttered, covered in brown sugar and honey, alongside the scent of cedar smoke and soft pine. I hate Hearth, it's sickly sweet and smokey.   My favorites of the bunch are Snow White and Dargon's Moon, so the list is going from favorite to hated. Bunny Musk is nice but the Musk is overpowering the whole scent, sadly. Musk tends to go very strong on me, apparently.   The ones I want: Alice Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot. White Rabbit Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen. Dana O'Shee Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains. Persephone Pomegranate and rose.   I think I originally didn't order those because they fade so fast on me. But having aged for two years, White Rabbit is almost overpowering me at the moment. Beautiful. I had Alice on my wrist yesterday evening, but it stayed very faint, sadly. I cannot find my imp of Dana O'Shee - I know I loved the smell but I also know that it always made me crave Marzipan. I don't like to smell like food too much. Persephone is going to be tried later. My problem with the scents is that they all smell very alike so if I want to use perfume and have to chose one they all seem the same to me. Except for Persephone, which is fruity. I don't like it as much as the other scents so if I was to eliminate one of them, it would be her - but she is so different that it would be stupid. At the moment, everytime I want something fresh, fruity for hot days, I take Dragon Moon.   Without having smelled them: LILITH VICTORIA Snake Oil blended with Dorian, plus soft vanilla flower, lily of the valley, lavender, and fennel. THE GLADDENER OF ALL HEARTS Honeyed milk, baby powder, lavender, orris root, sage, carnation, angelica, frankincense, and rose otto. I don't think we have to talk about them, I want to get both and I'm positive that I'm going to love them. Neither Dorian nor Snake Oil were favorites of mine - but mixing them seems a sure way to create a gorgeous perfume. Plus lavender? I'm sold. Additionally, the medicinical note I always got from Snake Oil is gone after aging, it smells REALLY nice now. I'm starting to sniffing my wrist more and more - wow, everytime I take a sniff I like it even more. Who knew aging could have such an effect?! Gladdener of hearts has all I love: Milk, Baby Powder, carnation, Rose - I need to have it! I does sound a bit like Alice - so maybe I should leave Alice out? I love Alice, but I tried her yesterday and she disappointed me a bit by being very faint.   I have Snake Oil and White Rabbit on my wrist since maybe 30 minutes now - and White Rabbit is almost gone, after starting out very strong. Ugh! Persephone is a nice rose. I think I'm definitely get her, even thought she is almost faded after 10 minutes as well. So, what about Alice, Dana and White Rabbit? White Rabbit is preferred to Alice - it was my very first BPAL and even thought it fades fast at least it's much stronger on first application than Alice. I can't remember anything about Dana... I calculated my total when I was ordering all of them, without leaving any of them out. The total is so high (gulp) that I wonder if the 15$ for one 5ml I could leave out isn't a drop into the sea anyway. Hmmm! Advice? I have Snake Oil scent mixed with White Rabbit and Persephone in my nose... yumm.

The very first entry

You know I thought that I had overcome my addiction. As you can see I'm already a member since 2005 but for the last two years I never even visited the BPAL homepage anymore. I still use my BPALs occasionally, but I didn't give it a second thought. I don't know why this is changing now, though?   For starters, here are the bottles I own (current list is here)   Regular scents: Dragon's Milk Antique Lace   Limited Editions - Yule 2005 Hearth Snow White April's Fool 2006: Enraged Bunny Musk   Lunacy 2006: Dragon's Moon   I have a stash of Imps here, that I never gave a second thought to. But now I wonder why I never bought my favorite scents but the ones listed above instead. I absolutely adore White Rabbit, Alice, Persephone and Dana O'Shee but never got around buying them. Why? I think I got distracted by all those LEs. I think I should mend that now. I'm sure there are other scents I love but never considered buying, I need to dig out my spreadsheet.   I've always had a problem with the scents fading too fast on me, which might be because of the kind of scents I like (the light, sweet, floral ones) - they don't have as much staying power as others do. I think that's sad because if I like a scent I want to smell it all the time without having to stick my nose to my wrist.   So - welcome back to the addiction, I guess.

Do you expect/rely on other people to plans birthday outings and activities? Absolutely not. I've learned that the key to not being disappointed on my birthday is to have very low expectations. I don't go out on my birthday. Even this past one when one of my coworkers (who has the same birthday) was going out and a large group of work people were supposed to be going, I didn't go. Every time I try to go out on my birthday it ends up with me in a bar drinking by myself. The only thing I expect on my birthday is a phone call from my mother.   What’s your ringtone? I've got 5 custom ringtones on my iPhone right now. They're all in use for various things. New Slang is my general ringtone and the others are specific to various people.   Gone For Good Muscle Museum New Slang Supermassive Black Hole The District Sleeps Alone   What's your favorite animal? I like cats. Big ones. Like tigers and panthers. I also like polar bears and penguins. I like them a lot. Birds are really good too. Especially the big ones and the brightly coloured ones. I'm also rather fond of bats.   What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? I would really love another bottle of Hellhound. More time appropriate, I would love a bottle of Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo and a bottle of Hell's Belle. I know they're general catalogue and I could order them at any time, and that's probably why I just don't. Most of my BPAL budget goes to Current LE's and Lunacies that I want when they're up, and old LE's/Lunacies that I want and/or love when they're available on the forum. But those are probably my 2 favourite GC blends and I usually only have a very small amount of them at any given time.   If you could have dinner/drinks/coffee with any 3 living people that are not your family/friends already, who would they be? Bill Maher, Tom Robbins, and Jensen Ackles (because he's sooo hot!) If there is something on my wishlist that I'm able to swap for or purchase at reasonable cost, I probably won't pass it up. Most of my wishlist is likely to be outside the realm of my Witch (although I did just add a selection of GC Imps I want to try) I don't expect any bottles or rares and anything on my wishlist I'm likely to like and am not likely to be upset by having more of it. I am actually going to compile a larger list of BPAL I've tested or sniffed that I know I don't like, so pretty much anything that isn't on that list (and isn't vanilla or lavender) I mind being able to test and if I've already tested it and it isn't on that list it means I don't hate it. I really hope that made sense. It's been a long hard day and I've not been sleeping well.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? No. I used to wear Disney watches (nice one's with leather bands, not the kiddie style big plastic ones) but I haven't worn a watch in years. Yes, that sounds awesome! Animal rescue or fine arts organizations would be preferred, but any non-profit that does good work is okay with me.   What is your favorite art movement and/or style? ie impressionist, surrealist, art nouveau, etc. I really love impressionist paintings, and also post impressionism, and most expressionist art, well, most art in general. Except Cezanne, I don't like his work at all.   Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I have an iPhone 3G, and it does need a case. I also have a Canon SD630 Digital Elph that does not currently have a case and is showing signs of wear from being left in my purse in an uncushioned manner.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? I like them both. Some teas are just more convenient bagged... peppermint, sweet dreams, chai, etc. but I do like my regular black, green, and white teas loose. My tea pot can be used for either, and it is used for both on a daily basis.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? Yes, it sure does. Last year, for instance, we got 100 inches of snow dumped on us. The set I used last year (hat, gloves, and scarf) is still in pretty good shape so I could use them again this year... but if my Witch was so inclined as to replace them... a bright colour that would contrast with my black coat would be lovely   Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? Moryssa and fireweaver are friends of mine IRL, and both could answer questions. In fact, fireweaver would be eager to ask me for answers to your questions for you. She's devilish sneaky.   Just to throw a silly question out there...Munsters or Addams Family, y'all? I liked them both. Addams' Family slightly more.   What think you about receiving tea accessories and/or miscellany (like mugs, cups, saucers, strainers/filters, honey, natural sweeteners [like stevia])? I really don't need any filters or strainers. I love the Quotable Mugs, I've got three and they're fantastic! I dropped one on my floor and it didn't break! I do like Stevia, I have a bottle of the liquid, but I don't like to sweeten my tea and it's not strong enough for coffee, the powder has lactose listed in the ingredients and I can't ever figure out why so I never use it. I do love honey and use it in my coffee, though I do prefer local honey.   How do you feel about copies of music or dvd's that your witch might have that you might enjoy? Not just mixes, but whole copies? I'm good with that   Tarts? Yes/no? sure   I'm wondering if my witchee would like to try these types of things (like the caramel with sea salts or chocolates with chilis/bacon/salt etc.)? yes please! Probably that fourth cup of coffee I know I really shouldn't be having. I'm addicted, I admit that. Otherwise, perhaps the occasional handful of vegan chocolate buttons   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? Good question My answer is: No, although I may well *add* to the Bpal wishlist when my Halloweenie decants will have arrived. But I'm trying to only buy for my witchee for now!   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? I rarely remember to wear a watch. If I do, it's a solidly built men's watch with both a clock face (with second hand) and a digital display. It has alarm and stopwatch functions, which I do not know how to use. It's fairly heavy, so that I'm always aware that I'm wearing it.   How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something?If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? Honestly it's not something I would have thought of, since I actually prefer to support charities by buying goods from them rather than by donation. (Because I seriously disagree with the way certain charities allow their 'paid volunteers' to earn commission from the donations that they solicit!) Some charities I would be happy for a donation in my name to go to would be: women's refuge centres; animal rescue centres that do not put old/unwanted animals to death; charities promoting the study of Classical Latin; Catholic charities; Interfaith organisations. Personally, I would *not* want a donation to be made in my name to any charity that funds medical research, due to various ethical issues.   What is your favorite art movement and/or style? ie impressionist, surrealist, art nouveau, etc. It's more of a transitionary period in the history of art than a self-contained movement, but I love the early Italian Renaissance (especially Florentine). I like how the art of this period aims at blending idealism and realism like the art of Classical times, while still using the elegant stylised figures of the late Gothic style. It's unique and beautiful, and somehow completely authentic to the function of the art. In general, Renaissance and pre-Renaissance art fascinates me because so much symbolism is contained in the imagery of the paintings, sculpture, and architectural forms of the period. It amazes me how much information is in them, and I find it wonderful that back in the 14th/15th centuries, the people who looked at these paintings were able to 'read' the stories in them as easily as we would read a book today. *is a secret art history geek*   Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I don't have a case for my ipod. It's never especially occurred to me to want one, but actually it's a pretty good idea. If my witch wants to make/buy a case, I'd strongly prefer a knit/felt/fabric one. I choose not to have real leather/suede and I usually don't like the way the fake ones feel to the touch. I can't find my ipod right now to measure it, but I can tell you it's a (really old) 4GB ipod mini (the original mini version, not the 2nd generation mini).   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose If I'm feeling snobbish, I'll insist that loose is better. On the other hand, I hate picking tea leaves out of the pot or the mesh filter. I've started using those empty sachets that you put the loose tea into, and I love them! But I do also have ordinary bagged teas for everyday, anytime drinking.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? I live in England. We have some notorious seasonal weather changes. Right now we've got alternating warm and chilly days, and the rain we've been having is due to continue all the way through next week. Some parts of the country are flooded, but not where I am. Winters over here are indeed cold. January/February brings the worst freezing spells. And yes! I'd love any item with insulating properties (General note: I have short fingers, so can only wear fingerless gloves/mittens!)   Who are your forum buddies? It's roughly as hot as hell here and I'm not getting any work done at all... so... time for more SW questions!   ***9/5*** Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? Nope! My husband is a huge ol' watch nerd, so I have a couple of nice-ish watches, but I never ever think to wear them. Part of the issue is that I spend about 90% of my waking life in front of a computer (yay grad school), and I find it very distracting to have something noteworthy on my wrist while I type.   The only watch I've ever been able to wear consistently was a dopey pink Power Puff Girls watch that my mom loaned me for a period of several years. It stopped dead in the middle of the AP Physics exam just to spite me. Alas.   How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? This is a wonderful idea! There are so so so many good things to donate money to as well. Here're just a couple of places I stand way the hell behind: Planned Parenthood Project Bread (Massachusetts) SOS Children's Villages Doctors Without Borders Burners Without Borders (jeez, I hate borders!) Covenant House (I'z not a Christian, but I have huge respect for their work) Habitat for Humanity (likewise) Joseph's House (in DC. This is yet another Christian organization, but this one is extra special to me in that a friend of mine is a full time volunteer there. It's a long term hospice for otherwise homeless people dying of terminal illnesses.) Farm Sanctuary ASPCA   I'd be psyched to have you donate in my name if you wanted to, but if you do want to donate somewhere, I beg you NOT to donate to PETA. I really, really, really do not like PETA and believe that they are overall detrimental to the animal rights movement. Seriously.   ***9/4*** Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I've got a teeny tiny ipod-- one of the nanos from back before they got all chunky and gross looking. (No offense to the zaftig ipod lovers out there.) It already has a variety of storage socks.   I don't have good cases for either of my two favorite cameras, but they are both pretty big (a Pentax K1000 film SLR and a Pentax K10D digital SLR) so I'm not sure how feasible making/finding a nice case for them would be.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? YES. One of the most common misconceptions about California is that we have no weather here. We have weather in my part of the state! Winter is cold and rainy, and look... they don't call me coldandsleepy for nothin'. I am ALWAYS cold, even here... thus I'm totally receptive to warm weather gear. I'm particularly hot for hats and socks, but I'd never say no to scarves or mittens.   Who are your forum buddies? I don't know if it goes against my beliefs really but I really like sheep - little soft toy sheep, sheep mugs, sheep stickers...   Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? I don't have a huge soap stash (nothing like my BPAL stash!) but I do love nice soaps. I don't avoid anything in them but prefer handmade stuff. Some of my favourites are Arcana's soaps and BPTP Snake Oil soap. Lush is good, too, except I don't really like their Honey I Washed The Kids, it just doesn't feel as nice as some others.   Do you like kilts and would you wear one? SW random questions!

Are there any of y'all who are allergic/sensitive to having natural fibers on your skin? No allergies here. As long as it's not scratchy and itchy - like some fibers can be if worn next to skin.   What was your favorite ghost/scary/campfire story growing up? I don't remember any, although I remember watching a tv show where a bunch of kids would sit around a campfire and tell each other stories.   Bugs? Do you like 'em or not? Nooo! I'm really scared of spiders, and of most other bugs for that matter. I like bees, though, as images at least... I really want to get my next tattoo - a bee on my ankle.   i haz no imp storage. do you? I do, I do! I have 3 blue ammo cases (100 slots in each) - they're not all full, but one houses my GC imps, one has LE and other special decants, and one has other etailers' samples.   If you have a garden/planter box, what do you grow? I don't have a garden but I really want to start growing herbs (both for cooking and magick) on the kitchen window. I'm not sure autumn/winter is the best time for it, though.   Do you decorate for Halloween? What sort of decorations? Dress up for Halloween? I haven't decorated before but I'm really into Halloween this year and I finally have my own flat so I think this is a good year to start! There are some examples on my Etsy wishlist.   What is one item that you've wanted forever, could have afforded, but have never gotten and why (haven't you gotten it!)? I've been lusting after a red patchwork wall hanging for a long time (or a purple one, for that matter!) - it's not that I can't afford it as such but more that it seems so crazy to spend a lot of money on something that essentially is just going to hang on a wall when I could spend the money on shoes or perfume instead...   What Halloween scent are you most looking forward to? Katrina van Tassel, definitely. And I've never tried Samhain before, so that, although I suspect it might not work on me...   Tattoos! Do you have em? Do you want em? Whatcha got or getting? I have a simple star on my lower back. I really want to add to it somehow - perhaps a small star on the side, or add some shading. My plans for the next two are a bee on my ankle (from Tori Amos 'Sweet The Sting' lyrics that say "wisdom comes with the sting") and the Wiccan triple moon symbol either on my wrist or on my back. If my Witch is artistic, the most amazing gift you could give me would be the draw a bee I could get tattooed on me! Seriously. I want something fairly simple, not cutesy, black and white. I've planned that tattoo for years, I've just been waiting for the right image.   Reduce - REUSE - recycle. Do others feel the same? Absolutely. I buy a lot of clothes used and definitely recycle whatever I can. I also try to buy fairtrade, local and organic whenever possible. I do love fun little things and random Halloween things but please don't feel you should buy something like that for me - I'm trying to cut back on random clutter. I'd prefer something small from my Etsy wishlist over a mass produced plastic knick knack any day.   What is your favorite crafting supply? Beads! Glass, gemstone and wood beads. I will also always have a use for ribbons, lace and fabric flowers.   Any period of time that you love? Victorian. I dream of living in a Victorian house one day - that's quite a realistic goal considering there are loads of them in London!

Reviews of the new GCs

Some reviews of the new GCs...   from Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia   Slippery Poppy Tincture poppy flowers, acai berry and honey   Wet: Very 'green' and fresh floral - I think that's the poppies mixing with the acai berry as there's something a bit similar, sharp than in Australian Copperhead. I'm not really getting any honey out of this at all. Too 'fresh' and 'green' for me. The longer it sits on my skin, the more I'm actually starting to dislike it.     Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener sassafras, vanilla extract, oak, leaf, CO2 butter extract, and onycha   Something quite medicinal - almost like menthol, or the smell of a cough syrup! I get some of the sweetness of the vanilla mellowing it down, too. It's interesting but not something I would wear as a perfume at all. It's also quite masculine.   from Phoenix Steamworks   Galvanic Goggles Metallic notes with Indian musk, tobacco flower, and African balsam.   Pleasant - quite masculine - the metallic notes always translate to me as something quite fresh and manly. Not something I could imagine myself wearing but definitely a nice, pleasant scent.     No. 93 Engine Balm of Gilead, benzoin, frankincense, balsam of peru, beeswax, saffron, galbanum, calamus, hyssop, mastic, lemon balm, and white sage.   Deep, spicy. Reminds me a lot of some of the "God incense" we use at Wiccan rituals, I think it's the galbanum I'm picking up on? This is definitely a nice scent but again something that evokes quite a masculine image in my mind so I don't imagine I would wear this myself.     The Obsidian Widow Pinot noir, dark myrrh, red sandalwood, black patchouli, night-blooming jasmine, and attar of rose.   Definitely the red wine at first. I'm also noticing the jasmine because it's the note of doom... As it all settles, it's actually very pleasant and quite a 'classic perfume' smelling. Classy and sophisticated, not an every day scent but something for special occasions. So far my definite favourite out of these.     The Robotic Scarab Polished metallic notes, glossy leather, frankincense, star anise, and thin lubricating oils.   Once again the metallic notes scream 'masculine' to me. I don't get much of the leather but I sense it's there, as a base. Notes-wise not something I would pick up for myself but not unpleasant in any way.     Smokestack Creosote, coal, and industrial waste.   Oh yes, hello vetiver! I can't even skin test this. Bleurgh.     Violet Ray White mint, purple musk, violet, lilac, ylang ylang, lavender moss, and sandalwood.   Very floral - I think it's the violets and lilacs I'm getting so overpoweringly. Not me at all - just an average floral scent, not very pleasant. I seem to have a problem with 'fresh' smelling florals.

Okies Switch Witch - the answers I promised     My kiddo loves anime/manga - Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Don't worry, I don't know them either. I remember when it was as easy as Bleach and Death Note (he's telling me he likes those ones still too). He plays WoW, Team Fortress 2, and has a Wii. He's very excited about buying Spore when it comes out next week.   The hubby loves Futurama, Jon Stewart (who ALWAYS makes him giggle), Dungeons and Dragons (and other rpgs) and hockey. He's a Montreal Canadians fan.   Hm as for me...I love to have things to hang on my walls - esp. art prints and photographs. Love interesting postcards. My walls are far far far too bare. I read Tarot cards - I use 3 decks - Brian Froud's Faery Oracle, The J Swiss and the Goddess Tarot. I also dowse. And I'm awful good at it I am very into figuring out home decorating right now - love HGTV   And dear Witchy - I feel badly writing all of those things down, because I absolutely don't want you think that I except ANY of this stuff! I'm always so torn about writing this stuff down because I don't ever want to seem greedy

Hey, I’m just gonna skip any questions which I don’t find relevant (meaning they’d give no useful info to a Witch one way or the other) and anything that I feel was adequately covered elsewhere. Do feel free to ask if I’ve left out something that you would like to know!   Happy to get stuff from etailers I haven’t mentioned (assuming that it otherwise falls into the stuff-I-might-like category)! Perhaps I just haven’t heard of them yet!   Do you have an esty shop? Nope! What are your two favorite etsy shops? There’s too much awesome variety to pick. Do you knit/crochet? Do you need any supplies? I do not. I “know how” to knit, but haven’t the patience for more than a few rows. Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? Love it all. I’m not always happy with the “flavors” because they can seem so juvenile, but it’s not enough to stop me buying/using/enjoying flavored glosses! Naturally, anything flavored with a flavor I don’t like – viz., coffee or watermelon – is out. Love glitter and shiny. What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? My favoravoravorite is Urban Decay. I would probably like MAC but haven’t tried any video games? platform? do you like used games? We have an XBox 360, but don’t play a heck of a lot. Carnation petal cookies, now – the best baklava I have ever had was made by a 17-year-old Armenian girl I worked with; she used carnation syrup instead of honey – made the syrup herself from carnation petals, wow. And I’ve never had or seen anything with carnation since. I’d love to try them. How do you scent yourself? Do you layer soaps, moisturizers, etc. or do you go straight to slathering your bod with BPAL? Even BPAL is mostly for going out. There are many scent-sensitives here at work (myself among them) so we try to keep aromas to a minimum. I’m not much for layering; If I’ve used a scented bath product or lotion, I usually let it wane rather than adding another scent. Do you/how do you scent your world? Candles, incense, diffusers, potpourri? None of the above? The occasional candle to set a romantic or festive mood. What movie soundtracks (or scores) do you love? I think everything I have does reflect my personality and beliefs – a personality which is a mass of contrasts! I hope this is helpful dear witchy I'll keep updating as we go along...   What is your favorite? What tea would you love to try but haven't because of price or difficulty to get? I love celestial teas diffrent chai variants and I also have a new local favorite - psycho lemon! It' is fantastic. I would love to try the Dr Horrible tea and the Supernatural tea from adagio but I can't motivate ordering it just yet with the amount of tea I already have   BPTP Room Sprays...your thoughts? I love baked goods and kits to make said baked goods! However I am on a diet, so it would have to be rather low fat or healthy. I am dying to try some baked goods with lavender! He is so named because at first we thought it was a girl... and then he matured into a strapping young lad and we realized he had balls... the name just kinda stuck though, we just call him Fran for short. To my witch!

I don't have a tart burner, but I think i'd like one. I do enjoy scented candles and such, and I think that'd be right up my alley.   I am a Nascar fan, my favorite driver is Jimmie Johnson, with Dale Jr as a close second.   As for Amigurumi, right now I just make critters, but i'm going to try my hand at a doll for my sister for her birthday. I've also got a book that has some cute dolls in it, and i was planning on making a set of skeleton bride and groom for my SW. I'm a big fan of Roxycraft (I have all of her patterns) and NeedleNoodle (i just have her book, none of her online patterns)   I am a fan of Celtic music, not so much folk, I like Pink and Nickelback (are they alternative? I'm not sure what category they fall under), I haven't been listening to much Country but i do enjoy it, I'm not so much into classic rock, but i do like older pop music. The stuff that comes out these days that's on the radio seems really repetitive to me and i don't really enjoy it. I like Cowboy Troy, Big and Rich, Pink, Nickelback, Disturbed, Cheetah Girls, Linkin Park, Aqua, Panic at the Disco, ACDC, Queen I'm not a big fan of Def Lepard, Lenard Skynard, stuff like that.   Hope this helps!
