Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Sorry that I have no recommendations to give yet, I just got my first order of imps from The Lab and I'm working my way through those. Interestingly, some of the frimps I'm enjoying much more than the ones I actually ordered which makes me think I've got myself all wrong! So here's a bit about me..

I'm 26, female, Aquarius. Long straight dirty blond hair and blue eyes. I have a classic 50s-60s hourglass shape and if I had to pick one person's wardrobe to own it would hands down be Joan from Mad Men. I enjoy makeup and fashion but I wouldn't consider myself overly feminine. I tend to prefer a simple, classic style with most things. I have degrees in Psychology, Library & Information Studies, and Law (almost) but I have no clear goals after graduation. If there was an option to be a perpetual student.. I would probably do that. I'm independent to a fault and hate to rely on others. I'm a feminist and a humanist. Equality is essential to me and it bothers me that the world is so imbalanced and unfair. I can come across quite cold and unemotional sometimes since I try to approach conflict rationally and I can't stand to ruminate on things I know I can't change. At the same time I feel like I'm very empathic, I just don't process my own emotions as deeply. You're more likely to catch me crying over a TV show than my own problems. I consider myself among the more progressive of the population.. probably more socialist than most as well. I love the environment of a small town and the integration with nature, but I would miss the culture and intellectuality of the city. I love the ocean, mountains and forests.

Variety is more than the spice of life to me, it is life and it's an addiction. I get bored very easily and tend to procrastinate if I don't feel interested. I like to collect perspectives and experiences in a way and I always desire to try or learn something new. I'm a voracious reader. I never get to the point of excelling at something because I'm long gone immersing myself in something else by then. One of my new friends said there is a word for people like me - a multipotentialite - and it definitely fits (thanks J, if you're reading this!). I much prefer intimate conversations to parties. I could discuss ideas and concepts for hours but I'm indifferent to gossip and small talk.. although I'll usaully fake it to not be rude. I can be very open, sarcastic, and blunt which most of my friends find hilarious but if I sense that it's too much for someone I try to tone it down. I feel like a chameleon when I'm with others. I have friends from such different backgrounds but I tend to adapt to their personalities when we're together. Being unconventional brings me joy and I also love the contrast of polar opposites. I would ideally love to be a minimalist, but my perfectionist tendencies and desire for change sometimes conflict with that.

recklesslysober......here are some of my recommendations :)

The Lurid Library- The incense-tinged scent of forbidden tomes and the musk-laden remnants of infernal servants.

Marquise de Merteuil- Stately, bold, aristocratic and cruel. Opulent galbanum and amber, glistening peach, and a bouquet of French florals, with a merciless undertone of jonquil and heartless vetiver.

Egle- Ocean water, hyacinth petals, star jasmine, and fir.

The Forest Reverie- A sunlit ancient forest, dotted with wild roses, grape vine, and queenly lilies, clothed in swirls of opium smoke.

Iole- A serious, studious scent: fig, night-blooming jasmine, red sandalwood, bourbon vanilla, oak bark, leather accord, and black amber.

The Book- Old, yellowed parchment paper, tattered leather bindings. There’s a distinct warmth to the scent, though it is ancient and brittle.

Just received my first batch of imps in the mail today, excited to try more! Figured I'd get some suggestions here, since I'm always open to try new things!

I'm 20 years old, a college student without many plans for the future yet! Undeclared major, undecided about pretty much everything. I'm a Virgo sun sign but I really don't fit the stereotypes, I actually identify more with my Libra moon sign and Aries rising. I'm a very cheery, extroverted person by nature, and love being around and helping people! However, I've been struggling with anxiety and depression for a long time, so that holds me back a lot. I tend to form fast and close friendships with those who I get to know, I'm a total Hufflepuff! I have no interest in romantic love but I am absolutely overflowing with platonic love for my friends and family.

I'm from the great plains and feel very attached to the prairie I grew up in. I'm accustomed to being able to drive for ten minutes or less and find myself surrounded by miles of corn and soybeans and sunflowers on every side. I love going on walks through the area - I live right on the Missouri river and there's a lot of beautiful hiking paths.

My hobbies are very crafty, including sewing and knitting. Especially knitting. I cosplay, which for those who don't know, is creating a costume to dress up like your favorite character from a book, show, movie, game, or comic! I love dressing up and taking photos with my friends, many of which I met through the hobby. I never outgrew cartoons, I absolutely love the mahou shoujo genre of anime from Japan. I'm also very inquisitive, I've been into science since I was a little girl helping my older brothers with their science fair and science olympiad projects. I especially love chemistry and ecology.

Style wise, I've had my aesthetic described as "a magical girl who wears a ton of frills and pink glitter gets lost in the woods, and emerges years later with a working knowledge of practical witchcraft." Basically, I like both fairy kei and mori kei. (most days I just wear tee shirts, doc martins, and jeans, though, or maybe a skirt with tights and boots. i'm too poor to afford the style i really want. ) I'm rather plain looking: light brown, curly hair; blue-grey-green eyes; average build; beige skin that tans a lot in the summer. I like to think I'm rather cute, I have wide eyes and strong eyebrows, I've been told I look like a young (teenaged) Brooke Shields, or maybe Lauren Cohan when I wear a lot of makeup.

tl;dr:

Astrology: Virgo sun, Libra moon, Aries rising

Element: Earth

Meyer's Brigg's: ENFP
Alignment:Chaotic Good

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Sburb Title: Sylph of Heart

Welcome to the madness dear :)

Here are some of my recommendations

Morgause- Earth sorceress and mother of Mordred, she is, in essence, the harbinger of King Arthur's doom and the downfall of Camelot. She is a sister, or sister-self, to Morgan Le Fay. A bouquet of five night-blooming flowers deepened by dusky violet, purple fruits and the barest breath of medieval incenses.

Magic, Do As You Will- The ecstasy of magic and the power of transformation: frankincense, guggul gum, onycha accord, styrax, and deep purple fruits.

Dana O'Shee- Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains were made to placate these creatures, and it is that the basis of the scent created in their name.

Lady Una- Honey musk, green tea leaf, blackberry leaf, vanilla bean, and fae spices.

Leanan Sidhe- The name translates to “fairy, love of my soul”. A vampiric spirit and a dark muse, the love of the Leanan Sidhe is both a gift and a curse. These eerily beautiful Irish spirits drain the sanity and lifeforce of the men they inspire to artistic greatness. Her kiss infuses a man with depth of vision and feeling, otherworldly passion, and a sudden and ineffable understanding of the unending sadness that plagues mankind. Her perfume is a crush of Irish herbs and flowers, Gaelic mists, and nighttime dew.

Kitsune-Tsuki- Kitsune-Tsuki are malevolent Japanese spirits, akin to western werebeasts: women are possessed by the spirits of foxes, who compel them to perform acts of wickedness and mischief. Asian plum, orchid, daffodil, jasmine and white musk.

Iambe- Daughter of Pan and Echo and dear friend to Demeter. When Demeter was mourning the abduction of her daughter, Iambe was the only creature in heaven and earth that was able to lend cheer and laughter to the grieving mother. Her scent is one of comfort, beauty and joy: Sudanese amber, patchouli, rose, gardenia, gladiola and white tea.

Good- Shimmering celestial musk with vanilla, white honey, acacia, and sugar cane.

Hope that was of some help. Enjoy your time here and I hope you find many more scents to fall inlove with.

I placed my first order about half a month ago (Sonnet d'Automne), and since I'm new here, I'd love some scent recs!

I'm a twenty year old college student, theatre major with a concentration in costumes, and a minor in French. I dress in mostly alternative fashion (lolita, and other miscellaneous Asian fashions), and have managed to gain a reputation around campus as being well-dressed. I'm not too often a jeans and t-shirts kind of person, although I do have plenty of those, as well, and I don't stick with any particular colour scheme, although I am fond of deep jewel tones and black. People generally describe me as being attractive (in a cute way- I've never been called sexy, and I don't see myself as such), due to my, eh, 'childish' features. Round face, full lips (I'm African-American, haha), and large, almond-shaped eyes. And also bright green hair.

My interests and personality are very, very different from my appearance. I'm pretty shy and soft-spoken around strangers and very clearly an introvert, but my friends all know that I'm actually fairly sarcastic and deadpan. I love languages, learning about mental illness, horror, demons/fae, the occult, and basically all that mysterious stuff; I don't think I ever grew out of my edgy thirteen year old phase. I have tons of books and photos about various demons from all around the world, and I enjoy researching and reading and watching things that talk about the various hells in different cultures. I have tons of Lovecraft's stories, so whenever I want to wind down, I'll just read a few of those.

When I first came to my university, I told one of the girls that was drawn to me because of my clothing that I "dress to intimidate." That is, I want people to notice how well dressed I am, but still be too afraid to actually come up and talk to me. It's worked so far, which is fantastic. I have pretty bad anxiety, so dressing up a lot, while it is something I do for myself, helps with that because I know people are looking at my clothes and not me. Being well dressed on a college campus is a surprisingly good deterrent when you don't want people to talk to you.

I hope this is enough- I always feel so strange talking about myself at length.

Sounds like you have a unique and interesting style! I think you might like some of the Mad Tea Party scents:

Alice: Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot.

Tweedledee: Kumquat, white pepper, white tea and orange blossom.

Croquet: Pink lime, pink grapefruit, white nectarine, wild rose, sage, woody patchouli, bergamot, and ornery hedgehog musk.

Based on some of your darker interests and enjoyment of Lovecraft, try:

Miskatonic University: The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls.

Shub-Niggurath: A blend of ritual herbs and dark resins, shot through with three gingers and aphrodisiacal spices.
I struggle with anxiety as well, and find these scents to be very comforting:
Velvet: gentle sandalwood warmed by cocoa vanilla and a veil of deep myrrh.
Miss Forcible: a classic vintage musk (with a bit of tea splash and biscuit crumbs)
And if you are looking to be a bit intimidating, try:
Snake Oil: exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla

I just recently received my first order which contained Mouse Circus, Samhain and an imp of Glasgow, and I'd love some scent recommendations!

I'm incredibly bad at describing myself so I don't think I'll be able to write as much as everyone else but here goes...I'm 22 years old going on 23 in December, Sagittarius, and I'm currently a Music Photographer working for an online magazine but I'm looking to change my career direction around and eventually work in the makeup industry (although I could never fully forget about my photography). I live in Scotland (so that's why I ordered an imp of Glasgow) I'm quite Scottish at heart and I do love where I live. I'm a really creative person, I love being able to get my creative side across in any way possible whether it's through photography or art etc, it's always been my field of speciality. I'm generally an easy going, happy person, with a shy personality but I'm slowly building my confidence over time.

My favourite music genre is rock and alternative, I'm in my best enviroment when I'm at a gig listening to live music as I love the energy and atmosphere, I find it to be quite captivating. I have too many favourite artists to mention but some of my most listened to bands are, AFI, Billy Talent, Within Temptation, Molotov Jukebox and HIM. My other interests include anything particularly witchy, I like collecting crystals, my preferred choices being spirit quartz and labradorite. I also have a particular fondness for the 90's (possibly because I grew up in those times) but I love the clothing, movies, artists etc.

For notes that I previously have enjoyed before discovering BPAL, I am in love with Tom Ford's Black Orchid, it's one of my favourite perfumes so if anything rings a bell that is similar as such then that would be great. I tend to like spicy, but sweet scents and as far as the BPAL perfumes that I've already bought that I mentioned earlier, I'm currently enjoying Samhain and Mouse Circus, not so much Glasgow. I hope that helps, any recommendations are more than helpful so that I can plan around my next order! ;) Thanks.

Welcome to bpal and the forum :)

Here are some of my suggestions

Anne Bonny- Named in honor of the most notorious female pirate to ever set sail. Wicked, cruel, beautiful, intelligent, resourceful and dangerous: a true role model. A blend of Indonesian red patchouli, red sandalwood, and frankincense.

Her perfume is a crush of Irish herbs and flowers, Gaelic mists, and nighttime dew.

Bewitched- Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk.

Bilquis- Honey, myrrh, lily of the valley, rose otto, fig leaf, almond, ambrette, red apple, and warm musk.

The Witch Queen- Wild plum, red musk, tuberose, calla lily, heliotrope, pimento, ylang ylang and beeswax beneath a dark haze of sinister purple-hued incense smoke.

Bordello- A decadent, deep perfume, lusty and luxuriant. The scent evokes images of velvet-lined Old West cathouses, tightly laced corsets, rustling petticoats and coquettish snarls of pleasure. Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant.

Lamia- Deadly elegance: pale orchid, vanilla amber, black currant, white peach, champaca, coconut, Arabian myrrh, Burmese vetiver, and oude.

Thanks for the scent recs Haltija! I loved looking through all of them, there's a few that I'm intrigued by and I will definitely be including them in my next order of imps, I like the sound of Anne Bonny in particular! Thanks again!

I'm new to BPAL, but I'll give this a shot (I'm really bad at describing myself):

I'm 16 and I live in the American South in a small town, but I want to go to college in a big city. I love city living and traveling to new places; in fact, I'm taking a trip to Italy for my spring break! I love learning about history.

I'm pretty quiet. I used to be really shy, but I've gotten over a lot of my shyness and become more outgoing.

I have a deep fascination with the macabre. Maybe it's because my dad owns a funeral home, but I've always loved mythology, the supernatural and gothic horror, especially the Southern Gothic genre. I love to write my own stories, and I love doing research for the backgrounds of those stories, like researching poisons the murderer would use. Hannibal is my favorite tv show of all time.

On a lighter note, I also love Marvel and DC Comics. I want to someday work as a screenwriter for superhero films.

I hope this was enough info!

For your Southern Gothic vibe, try Jazz Funeral or maybe New Orleans.

Cicuta might also be good for a funeral home kind of creepy-but-elegant.

For your love of the macabre, any of the Haunted House scents from halloweens past, or Danse Macabre :)

Welcome to the magical world (:

Aviatrix gave you wonderful recommendations. Specifically Jazz Funeral and New Orleans. I was going to say them actually :P

But here are some of my few recommendations for you. I hope they are of some help.

Venice- A complex, voluptuous scent that captures the robust beauty and of the Italian Renaissance: lemon, red currant, wisteria, red rose petals, heady jasmine, Florentine orris root, waterlily, red sandalwood, violet plum, and violet leaf.

Dance of Death- A gloriously elegant representation of Lady Death. Dry, bone-white orris, black musk, serpentine patchouli and our murkiest myrrh.

The Harlot's House- The dead are dancing with the dead, the dust is whirling with the dust: angel’s trumpet, violet, white sandalwood, oude, copaiba balsam, angelica, white tea, olibanum, and oakmoss.

Poisoned Apple- A perfect, lovely, gleaming red apple whose sweetness masks a swirl of narcotic opium, oleander, and hemlock.

Sara Pezzini- A hint of leather and an understated vintage musk layered over the scent of lightly perspiring, honey-dusted skin.

The others have beat me to suggesting Jazz Funeral and Dance of Death. I'm also going to suggest, in a similar gothic vein:

Deep in Earth: Rose geranium, Spanish moss, Irish yew, and graveyard dirt.

Omen: Oakmoss, juniper berry, myrrh and patchouli.

And for something completely different, since you like mythology as well as the macabre, you may be interested in (depending on how adventurous you're feeling):

The Chicken-Legged Hut: Creaky wood and sun-dried thatching, clacking bones, leering skulls, burnt herbs, and enormous magical chicken feet.

On me, it goes from maple-brown sugar oatmeal to "smoky, dusty, woody, and evil-smelling," according to my notes.

Take a look through Ars Moriendi for more of the funeral-type blends, and Wanderlust for any places that catch your interest. And have fun exploring!

Thank you for all you suggestions, everyone! Now I've added Jazz Funeral, New Orleans, Venice, and The Chicken-Legged Hut to my list (I already have an imp of Poisoned Apple and I love it.)

Thanks again everyone.

I'm fairly new to bpal. I've known about it for a while but not until recently did I purchase imps. I'm looking for some good smells so I figured I'd give this a shot. So here goes nothin'

I'm 21, female and 5'7" with a thin to medium build. I'm super pale with wavy grey blonde hair and grey/blue eyes (lots of greys). I'm a Taurus and an ISFJ. My favorite band is Pink Floyd. My favorite movies are Pulp Fiction and Amelie. I'm an artist. I draw ladies and lions. Alphonse Mucha and Stevie Nicks are my idols. I went to school for painting and drawing but dropped out so I could support myself. I work full time as a baker (night shift). I'm slowly working on becoming a make-up artist. I like working with my hands a lot. I also enjoy singing and playing guitar in my spare time. I pick up on things quickly and easily. I'm a self-proclaimed renaissance man.

I'm a fairly independent person. Pretty shy and introverted too. But I open up after knowing someone for a long period of time. I've been told I'm stubborn many times. I often like to think of my self as a large rock or tree. Fairly down-to-earth. Sort of steady and strong. Someone that offers stability. Often I feel like everybody's mother. I enjoy caring for other and making sure they are well-fed and loved. I'm a big homebody as well. My house is my castle and I like it clean and well-stocked with food.

I like things that are simple and strong. People who are straight forward. Things that last for eternity.

I have a sort of balance in my life between light and dark (My moon is in Libra). I enjoy a lot of dark or witty humor. Gore, thriller and horror films/shows are pretty sweet. Evil Dead, Silence of the Lambs, AHS etc. I dress sort of dark as well. Lots of blacks and neutrals, sort of grunge-esque. BUT I have a deep love of all things adorable. Any kitten or pug. Pastel pink is my absolute favorite colour. I watch a lot of bubbly comedy or romance anime and films that are based off of anything written by Jane Austen.

As for notes I like. I tend to wear very earthy, wooden or floral scents. My favorite perfume was Nag Champa. It was made by a small perfume company that stopped selling that scent. So when I ran out I switched back to my usual florals: honeysuckle, gardenia, and rose. In my recent imp order I discovered Urd. Which was amazing. I also discovered that my skin amplifies leather scents but not in a good way.

So I guess that's it. I'm open to and thankful for any suggestions :)

Hello dear. Welcome to the magic :)

Here are some of my suggestions!

The Lion- The dry, glorious warmth of the Savannah. A golden, spiced amber, proud, regal and ferocious.

Bewitched- Deep, luscious green and berry scents that evoke images of woodland witchcraft and the raw power of nature: blackberry, sage, green tea, wild berries and dark musk.

The Witch Queen- Wild plum, red musk, tuberose, calla lily, heliotrope, pimento, ylang ylang and beeswax beneath a dark haze of sinister purple-hued incense smoke.

Mari Lwyd- Welsh cakes and ale with a smattering of dried lavender.

Le Serpent Qui Danse- A sinister, darkly seductive scent inspired by poetry of Charles Baudelaire. Violet entwined with vanilla and gardenia.

The Little Wooden Doll- Gently carved wood warm with a maternal love that reaches beyond death: rose-infused amber and soft golden sandalwood.

The Heirophant and the Empress- Red and white roses, everblooming gardenia, violet leaf, Oman frankincense, styrax, honey myrtle, mallow flower.

Hope you find more things you enjoy.

Hello, I'm new to BPAL and these forums, and also very clueless about perfumes and such things.

I'm 20, male and from Sweden. 5'7" and built like a hobbit (sans hairy feet, thankfully). My hair is medium to dark brown and my eyes are blue-grey-green and seem to shift colour based on the light and what I'm wearing. My zodiac sign is Gemini and I was born in the year of the Dog. Generally I look like a scruffy hobo, though I can dress nicely if I must. I pretty much always wear band shirts, army surplus trousers and my beloved big black boots.

I am an introverted person, quiet a lot until you get me going about one of my interests and then I simply won't stop talking. I like to draw and write, creativity is important to me, aesthetics are too. I'm a big fan of bands such as Bauhaus, Swans, Anna von Hausswolff, The Velvet Underground, PJ Harvey and such. Music is also very important to me, though I only listen to it, can't play any instruments. I love books and reading, one of my dreams has been to be able to find a perfume (sorry if I use the wrong words here btw) that smells like old books since that is possibly the single most comforting smell there is to me. Books I like include Dune, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Gormenghast, various Lovecraft stories, William Gibson's stuff, Discworld books and much much more. Other hobbies include video games (currently obsessed with The Elder Scrolls games, especially Morrowind), tabletop roleplaying games, cooking and languages... well, I suppose that's it. I love tea and requie it to function at all. There's something so soothing about the simple steps involved in making a cup of tea.

I am very new to the world of scents and perfumes, and my vocabulary to describe these things is very limited, so I apologize if I use the wrong words.

Scents I've liked: I love the scent of old books, the scent of woodsmoke (like lighting a campfire in the forest), the scent of the forest, spices (like cinnamon, saffron, cloves, ginger, sandalwood maybe counts as a spice as well), leather, sometimes tobacco, the scent of tar, the scent of freshly cooked asphalt, the scent of smoked products such as Lapsang Souchong tea, the scent of a good stout or other dark beer, the scent of either freshly brewed or a newly opened package of coffee.
Scented products I have used and liked have been Dolce & Gabbana's The One (male version, a sort of spicy scent), the soap King of Sumatra by a company called Kings And Queens that seem to exist no more (pepper and bergamot scented soap), and I guess that's it, really. I used Lush's Soak 'n Float shampoo until I got tired of people making comments about how I always smelled like I'd been cooking bacon all the time.

To summarize, I am a short hobbity nerd with a faiblesse for postpunk type music, tea, books and the scent of smoke. I don't mind smelling a bit unusual, but I'd rather not smell like some sort of incredibly feminine scent. My favourite colour is green but I wear mainly black.

Thank you for reading through this, I hope you have a wonderful day!

If you're looking for a scent that captures that beautiful "old books smell", you might want to check out either Aziraphale from the Good Omens line, The Book from the ParaNorman line, or Limited Edition scents like The Lurid Library, Conservatory Tableaux or Scholar's Tower.

For your combined love of Lovecraft and books, I'd definitely suggest Miskatonic University.

Maybe you would also find Halfling fun, to complement your hobbity nature :D

Even though there is sadly no Dark Elf scent, for your fascination with Morrowind I might suggest Elf.

And since you like a lot of fantastical worlds and intriguing music, you might find a love in Jareth, which is also a great masculine scent!

Hello, I'm new to BPAL and these forums, and also very clueless about perfumes and such things.

Welcome to the world of BPAL, I like your gecko avatar. :)

Avi's recommendations for book scents are good; I really like that smell myself and Aziraphale fits the bill. Another winner from the general catalog is Dee (Soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods). I can honestly say that all my guy friends (including my husband) have enjoyed it. It's one of those blends that tends to work for everyone and has a soft, soothing but powerful sort of feel.

You seem to dig citrusy, woodsy, spicy "oriental" style blends (that terminology is so dated). And also tea, clearly. Based on that I'd try:

Aelopile - Glowing amber and citrus, labdanum, verbena, cedar, and oud.

(Citrusy and bright but with a nice woodsy backdrop.)

Dorian - A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea.

(Another blend everyone loves. Sugary and sweet but steeped in delicious tea. Not particularly girly or guy-ish.)

Golden Priapus - Vanilla and amber with juniper, rosewood and white pine.

(Also popular. Sweet but woodsy and fresh. Kind of sexy, really.)

Kubla Khan - Through sunlit caves of ice, roses unfurl amidst dancing waves of serpentine opium smoke and amber tobacco, golden sandalwood, champaca, tea leaf, sugared lily, ginger, rich hay absolute, leather, dark vanilla, mandarin, peru balsam, and Moroccan jasmine.

(Spice, citrus, woods, tea... it's got it all.)

Ranger - Untamed wilderness: buckskin accord with Terebinth pine, Russian birch, black ironwood, elder bark, hay, armoise, juniper, patchouli, galangal root, Spanish moss, and cabreuva.

(The best from the RPG line for you, I think. Very true to its description, just about the most lush and soothing forest smell you could imagine with a touch of rugged leather.)

Nyarlathotop - This is the blackest of ritual incenses charged with flashes of ozone.

(For your Lovecraft appreciation, a citrus-based but dark and incense-y blend.)

And here are some limited editions you might want to search for. You can often find samples of these via the forums so you don't have to commit to buying a full bottle right away:

Black Ice - Chilly white sleet-like notes with a hint of vetiver, a breath of smoky asphalt, and winter wind.

(Haven't tested this, but your mention of asphalt made me think of it. Would be an interesting one to try out.)

Kagema - Himalayan cedar, rum absolute, bay leaf, teakwood, orange peel, wooly thyme, and tobacco absolute.

(I adore this one. The richness and warmth of tobacco with a bright flash of orange and spiced rum.)

Eastern Comma - Sweet orange with tobacco absolute and hay.

(Kind of similar to Kagema but less spicy and more sweetly, soothingly warm.)

Antique - Fossilized amber, juniper berry, wild musk, oudh, vetiver, white cedar, black currant, oakmoss, and leather.

(A gorgeous blend that makes me think of walking in the middle of a dense forest after it's snowed. Clean woods, a hint of sweetness from the berry, darkened up by leather, vetiver and currants. Definitely elfy though it made me think of Mr. Tumnus from Narnia.)

A Peculiar Spirit - Tobacco absolute with neroli, oudh, benzoin, and black tea leaf.

(This literally just came out in the Lupercalia update so I haven't tried it, but based on what you enjoy it actually seems perfect. Tea, woods, citrus, tobacco... maybe the dick spirit will be a winner. :P)

I immediately thought of Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo for you.

This thread looks so interesting, I couldn't resist! I'm also super-new to BPAL and all its lovely goodness, so it'd be amazing to be introduced to scents I might not yet know, especially if they fit who I am. *v*

I'm a 27 years old Chinese girl from Malaysia, standing at about 5'8 with a straight body type. I have straight black hair, styled in layers that go naturally wavy at the tips, and small, brown eyes that seem black unless they're seen under the sun. My face is pretty cherubic, and people tend to think I'm younger than I am. Horoscope-wise, I'm a Capricorn born in the year of the Rabbit (though I am very close to the Dragon year). In terms of fashion, I've always wanted to try clothes in trend, but ultimately, I keep favouring simple combos that work and are comfortable anyway. (I do have the tendency to favor shorts, because the country I'm living in is perpetual summer: hot, hot, hot!) I rarely, if ever, wear makeup, but my teeny cosmetics hoard all share the same characteristic of having a nice scent.

I did a degree in English linguistics, and an MA in English Literature; no plans for a PhD until I stumble across a topic that I'm willing to commit to for years. My personality works a little like this: I'm always wary of commitment, and can be described as fickle, but once I've committed, or 'knuckled down', I am fiercely driven and I'm not shaken from my decision easily. Even if I may not like something/a plan as much as I thought I would initially, I'll stand by it nevertheless, because I've decided I'd follow it through. I'm a consistent INFP, though some people have expressed surprise over the introvertedness of that analysis; I seem to talk a LOT. (I just hate awkward silences.) I'm constantly worried about making a bad impression on others - I want to be well-liked by my peers, but often feel like I'm being an awkward penguin, or merely tolerated. I'm also a touch paranoid, and worry that something may not go the way it's been planned. Most times though, I'm described as cheery, energetic and loud, with a eye-crinkling smile and a manner than eases people into things. I feel obligated to help where I can, and love working with enthusiastic people. I'm currently a lecturer, and (despite this sounding a bit braggy, eep) my students are pretty fond of me, and I of them.

Music-wise, I love anything that has a good melody or beat. Amazing lyrics makes everything all the better, but if I can't understand them, it's ok if they're banal. I'm really into Kpop at the moment, though I stan great songs (currently 'Error' by Vixx, 'Christmalo.win' by Seo Taiji, 'thriller' by BTOB and....everything by Big Byung) rather than any particular band/singer. I'm super-duper fond of Jpop and Japanese songs as well, especially well-crafted Vocaloid tunes (Jabberwocky, Tsukai Kogarashi, and Start Line to name a few). I'd really love to visit Japan and Korea one day, having already been privileged enough to have been able to explore Paris, a few romantic Italian cities, the UK, Scotland and Thailand. Literature-wise, I lean towards fantasy and contemporary fiction, though some of my evergreen favourites are classics such as Anne of Green Gables and most everything by Louisa May Alcott. I recently finished reading (and crying at) The Art of Racing in the Rain. I also love manga, with a bias for sports-based ones (Kuroko no Basuke, Slame Dunk, Eyeshield 21, etc.)

I'm easily swayed emotionally, and easily shed tears when reading/listening to/watching anything moving or emotional. (Yes, I cried shamelessly when watching Titanic.) I love tea, Chinese tea in particular - one never goes wrong with a good cup of Pu Er or Tie Guan Yin - and have a blatant weakness for bubble tea. Don't get me started on food, mmmm.

I hope I haven't overloaded the info - thanks so much for reading, and have an awesome day!

Welcome to the glorious madness that is BPAL  A few suggestions I have for you are:

White Rabbit- Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen.

Ladon- The hundred-headed dragon that guards the garden of the Hesperides: dragon’s blood resin, golden apple, apple blossom, white musk and hyacinth.

Thalia- Plumeria, pear and white champagne.

Dana O'Shee- In Irish folklore the Dana O’Shee are a fae, elven people that live in a realm of beauty, their nobility akin to our that own Age of Chivalry, eternally beautiful and eternally young. Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains were made to placate these creatures, and it is that the basis of the scent created in their name.

Venice- A complex, voluptuous scent that captures the robust beauty and of the Italian Renaissance: lemon, red currant, wisteria, red rose petals, heady jasmine, Florentine orris root, waterlily, red sandalwood, violet plum, and violet leaf.

Florence- The pearl of the Italian Renaissance. Elegant iris, bright berries, gilded amber and velvety spices.

The Apothecary- Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig.

Doormouse- A dizzying eddy of four teas brushed with light herbs and a breath of peony.

Hope I was of some help and may you find many scents to love (:
