Kitsune-Tsuki

Recommended Posts

Kitsune-Tsuki are malevolent Japanese spirits, akin to western werebeasts: women are possessed by the spirits of foxes, who compel them to perform acts of wickedness and mischief. Asian plum, orchid, daffodil, jasmine and white musk.

Kitsune-Tsuki was one of the very first BPAL I wanted so badly to try (I have a thing for foxes). And I'm happy to say I love it. It smells like happy sexy fox apple blossoms (I know it has plum, and not apples, but something in it smells of apples to me). I normally hate fruity smells, but this one is great! The only one of the Diabolus bunch that I've tried that I wear.

imp: white musk with a jumble of florals behind it.

wet: this is more orchid and musk once applied. the florals are kinda tangy, they don't sit back to be admire, they grab your nose.

dry: this is still quite tangy and exciting once dry. a very flirty floral.

Wet: jasmine and white musk. Kind of soapy, very subdued.

Dry: more florals. Where is the plum?

10 minutes later: a little bit of plum, if I really sniff for it. Perfume's really subdued still.

20 minutes later: okay, what I thought was the plum has turned into the faintest hint of bubblegum. What?

Overall, there's this strange undercurrent of saltiness. I don't really understand it (perhaps my skin chemistry). Kitsune-Tsuki is nice and all, but it's simply too soft and too much of a generic floral for me. Plus, the strange bubblegum hint is odd. Not bad, but odd. Nevertheless, I'll try this again before I make any final decisions; my chemistry is probably just being funky.

In the bottle: Sweet, juicy fruit (but the not heavy, dark, overripe sort) and a very faint hint of bright, creamy daffodil.

Wet: Plum still by far the strongest, but the daffodil starts blooming immediately, and jasmine more faintly in the distance. A touch of sharp white musk. No orchid yet.

Dry: Dries very rapidly, becoming increasingly floral. The plum remains command still, and is truly delicious. I've never smelled a plum like it before, though it is definitely a natural scent. Actually I do think I may have had Asian candy like this, but it's not like any plum I've eaten - it's sort of peachy, and almost floral-rosy.

Later: Ahh! I finally realized what that fruit note smells like to me - pear, peach and plumeria! In fact, quite like the discontinued B&BW scent. Sweet/fruity/floral - a very complex fruitiness. It IS very sweet, verging on candy. The daffodil, as well as some now-distinct peony, provide a fresh yet creamy base and take the edge off the aforementioned sweetness. I think my nose groups the orchid - which is light, not heady - with the 'plumeria' type scent. The jasmine, meanwhile, remains very distant and amazingly TRUE. It does not turn to powdery soapy, but is lovely and floral and inviting, as it is in nature. Lastly, the white musk, which has long lost that sharp edge, provides a light sexiness.

Summary: Juicy, dripping fruit over seamlessly blended feminine florals and woodsy, musky resin; this is light and inviting, youthful yet sexy, bouyant but deep. This has the same fruity-floral, exotic feel and complexity of Fire Pig and Earth Rat; a peachy-pear version. Great throw and lasting power.

Excitingly, this is the FIRST Diabolus scent that works on me! Definitely getting a bottle.

This is light and fruity and sweet. It reminds me very much of Fire Pig, only without the grounding influence of the pine. It didn't last terribly long, but it smells beautiful wet, so I reapplied a lot. I really love this, but I think I will pass it on, simply because I have lots of Fire Pig and this is the same mood. But I now know a good GC replacement.

This scent is just heavenly. It's kind of like a department store-esque perfume, but without that terrible underlying alcohol smell. It definitely smells like the type of perfume that is sold behind a counter. It's floral and lovely wet, but as it dries, suddenly a hint of musk and plum emerge to sweeten the entire scent. It's undeniably one of my favorite scents.

What a deliciously sexy scent! I feel like I can't wear this one in public, much for the same reason I couldn't wear a see through teddy with extra lace frills in public.

In the imp:

Why hallo thar plumb. How nice of you to come over -- I see you brought some floral uh... friends. Are they all sisters? It's kinda hard for me to tell them apart. Though, I must ask, why is everybody wearing not but thongs? And, oh! You've brought musk. He... seems... to be... wearing a banana hammock. Ah.

Wet:

Well... Musk seems to be uh.. having fun. Though you're still in the foreground, plumb, you and he seem to be getting along well. The rest of the florals are all... playing back there in the backgrou- I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD GET THAT IN THERE.

Dry:

I... see that the florals are joining in now, though, I can't for the life of me tell them apart. I don't know if I mind however, as it's all so deliciously sleek and sexy, like licking whipped cream off of skin(*). Plum seems to be a bit tired, and has gone into the background, but is still definitely there. Musk is still having a good time, and, seems to be blending well with the florals. But, alas, they all tire out after a while of this, and then quietly drift off.

4 out 5 banana hammocks

As this scent is one I'm reserving for... intimate moments I think I'm just gonna stick with an imp for now. Here's to hoping I'll someday need a bottle. :P

---

*No whipped cream smell here, mind you. Though, if there were, it wouldn't be terribly out of place.

When I first got this (about a year ago) I thought it was kinda meh so I haven't worn it in forever. Wow did it age well. The plum in now very full bodied with a supporting cast of very individual florals and just the tiniest hint of musk to keep it from going too sweet.

If you have this tucked away I would recommend giving it a fresh sniff!

Fruity! Floral! Delightful! The plum note is really strong and juicy. There's a deeper floral that I pick up; I think it's the jasmine. I'm in love with Kitsune-Tsuki for dry down. This is what I've always wanted commercial floral perfumes to be.

After fully developing, there's more floral than fruit. It's sexy as hell, though. The throw is strong, but the scent is light and definitely purple.

At the four-hour mark, Kitsune-Tsuki is still going strong and sweet. There's a little boozy note, probably from the plum, that I absolutely adore. I'm so pleased with this perfume. I bought it on a whim and am completely satisfied.

When I first put it on it's a very strong, heady fruity-floral. It smelled almost like walking into Bath & Body Works, when the scent hits you. Anyway, it mellows throughout the day, but there's still the fruitiness. I don't think I like it.

in the imp: fruity and sweet. reminds me japanese fruit gum! :P

wet on skin: yup. hello kitty strawberry bubble gum :D

dry down: something else has entered the mix. something more subtle that is toning down the fruit-candy aspect. it's not floral, exactly. it's like alcohol. like a fruity alcohol beverage.

in all: not exactly my thing, but i could see a whole lotta people getting into this.

In bottle/imp: Very fruity and sweet with a hint of musk and jasmine.

Immediately on skin: Right away, the fruitiness I got from the imp moves to the background. In the forefront I can smell jasmine and musk, with a touch of juicy plum.

After a few minutes: This has sweetened up, thank goodness! The plum and orchid blend together to create a beautiful, sweet, juicy scent and it’s blended with the smoky jasmine and white musk. I don’t think I can smell the daffodil, but I don’t really know what that smells like. The blending of the orchid and plum actually smell almost like strawberry.

Overall Impressions: I love sweet scents, and this is definitely one of those! It might be even a little TOO sweet for me. The fruit note is nice, and the musk and jasmine is VERY light. This is a very bright, happy scent and might be good for you if you enjoy scents like Maenad.

In the imp: juicy sweet plum with nondescript bright florals

Wet: More plum and the florals begin to distinguish themselves: jasmine, orchid and daffodil

Dry: Mmmmmmm...regal and sophisticated fruity floralness. At first the jasmine embraces the orchid and daffodil. The jasmine is not heady at all and I love her playfulness. She truly reminds me of the clever fox spirits trying to engage and tempt the other notes. Slowly the orchid and plum win out. The traces of their sweetness lingers about until it disipates into a clean white musk many hours later.

Delightful!!!! Kitsune-Tsuki is full of personality. Her plum stays strong amid the florals without being overripe. This is how I like my fruited notes. And the touch of white musk--divine!

This stuff smells exactly like Chanel No. 5 on me. WTF?

Unfortunately, I hate Chanel No. 5.

I ordered this one simply for the name, and was rewarded with a delightful symphony of scents.

First Whiffs from the bottle were ripe and almost green, reminding me of spring, must be the daffodil.

A deeper breath reveals the orchid, harmonizing perfectly with the daffodil, making the start of a beautiful bouquet.

A dab to each wrist and the bouquet retreats allowing new notes to arise. They bring to mind purple and fruit with the juicyness of plum.

After a few hours passing, it changes from the tantalizing fruit to a deeper more incense-ish scent. The plum has bowed out for the the whiteness of jasmine and musk; a delightful pairing that dances gently over my senses and remains for the rest of its duration.

With my girlfriend's chemistry the effect is a much different delight. The delicate greens abandon the dance while the purple plum runs in and out peeking out from underneath the big fluffy white skirts of lady jasmine and musk.

Overall, we both adore Kitsune-Tsuki and recommend it as a fabulous daytime scent.

In imp: Greenhouse! That, or I’ve wandered into a store that sells bouquets and elaborate floral arrangements, and keeps very fresh flowers up front. Though these are some very sharp-scented flowers…

Wet on skin: Florals, florals and more florals! And oddly, hyacinths. It reminds me of the mother’s day bouquets my parents would pick up. There’s a fruity note, too, the Asian plum.

Drydown: It’s somewhere between the florals in the blend and my favorite body wash from B&BW. The plum has turned the scent almost candy-like, and actually does remind me of Flower’s Kiss hard candies. The white musk has finally come out, adding a fuzzy undertone to all those sweets.

Overall: Another wake-me-up scent that is fruit and floral. It is definitely feminine, but has a darker streak that keeps it from being your usual flowery perfume. Sweet, fruity musk? Yes, please!

A fruity plum that goes sour on me very quickly. I don't know what's causing that but it's not good. This smells very "clean" for a fruity floral and might work better on someone who doesn't usually turn jasmine into ick.

I am very excited to try this one. I am a big fan of Beth's asian blends, and I am in LOVE with all of the lab's plum notes. In the imp this is delicious! Juicy sweet plum and lots of florals. The jasmine is definitely noticeable, which is fine with me because I enjoy jasmine in moderation.

Mmm, yes, this is wonderful! The plum and jasmine are by far the strongest notes. I would recommend those that don't like jasmine to steer clear of this blend, but I am totally digging it in combo with the plum note. The white musk is also noticeable and really helps round this blend out.

The blend does lose a bit of its punch as it dries. The plum fades faster than the jasmine, so it gets a bit jasmine strong. Overall thought, this is a very nice-if the notes sound up your alley and you like Beth's asian blends, I would absolutely recommend this blend. I can definitely see myself picking up a bottle of this someday.

Smell alike: In the imp, it has some Lolita Lempicka accents -but I don’t get the particular licorice scent once on my skin (Hopefully x3)

Color impression: Joyful plum purple and shiny white

On me: No malevolent at all! It’s more a playful scent, only profound and bit mystic in the background (thanks to the plum? The orchid?). The head note is sweet yet really witty and -thanks God!- the jasmine stays quite tuned and doesn’t stand out to ruin the whole thing!

Wearing: I think this fragrance his light enough for everyday wear but will also easily accommodate an evening carefree seduction :P

For me, this is the purple-fruity brother of Aizen-Myoo: bottle please!

I tried this when I first got it and was just Not Sure. All I could really say was that it may be too sweet, and I'd need to try it again. I did know it smelled really good faded a bit, but was by that point hovering closely to my skin.

Upon second try: Makes me want to be a princess. At first, the fruit is SO strong, almost too strong. Intensely sweet. Then florals and musk are allowed to come to the fore a bit more - she stays sweet but the chorus of this scent is now at a lower pitch. This makes me think of being a princess in a a light and gauzy dress sitting in a field of green grass and wildflowers - this is the scent that my attendants would have delicately dabbed on my pulse points before I was escorted to my meadow. Organic decadence!

The throw, however, is THROWING ME OUT OF THE HOUSE. I smell intensely of fruit bubbleyum. But still.... I like it. After it is well dry, it feels like it finally grew up. Still a somewhat girlish woman, but a woman nonetheless. This foxlady is coyly bewitching me towards a bottle, despite being so much more fruity sweet than I think I want to smell! It is so bratty and delicious!

Ten hours later, this still smells like a pleasantly faded version of the final drydown.

Form:Bottle

On: I absolutly love this. It doesnt change to much from bottle to application. I smell daffodil, plum, and orchid the most with the first two going strong. After a few hours this definently fades significantly and its mostly just a lovely fruit scent with a light floral in the background thats perfect for a summer day. One of my GC faves :wub2:

Sweet, dainty, but also a little mischievous. And wow, that HAS to be daffodil...it's gorgeous and light in a sunshiny blend. Even the plum is nice! Ooh, I like this a lot!

Got this as in a set of six imps, and to be honest, I got it because of the name since I'm somewhat a fan of foxes, and I'm Asian... so yeah :P

Initial Impression: Floral! I was actually quite put off by the overwhelming floral scent (I'm not a fan of florals). It's a complete cornucopia of flowers.

Wet: The scents finally settles down more so that it's not so strong now. There's the orchid and what I imagine would be the daffodils and the white musk... with a somewhat sweetness (Plum?) in the background and a light jasmine scent.

Dry: The most prominent smell that I can detect now is the jasmine and plum, with very very light hints of the orchid. Lovely and sweet without being powdery or cloying. Thankfully the jasmine is not overpowering as some jasmine-based perfumes I've sniffed, but it's subtle.

I love this scent once I got past the initial stage, but I don't see myself wearing it often as it's a bit too floral (And perhaps feminine) for my liking, so I probably won't be getting a full-sized one anytime soon. Restocking in imps, maybe :P
