Lilith's Kwamie Cotton

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find notes on this. I'll have to ask Lilith who Kwamie is when I see her a dinner this evening.

This is the softest and most fleeting of the three Lilith creations. It's so soft and so light and really quiet. It reminds me of a soft stuffed toy lamb, not a new one, but a raggedy well loved one that smells of lots of bedtime baths and bedtime stories.

I have zero maternal anything about me, I'm allergic to human babies, but this made me say, "Awwwwww!"

Okay.. so I'm having a really hard time trying to describe this one to friends because it is such a concept perfume. Trying to pick out "notes" is driving my nose crazy. I am filled more with images. Kwamie Cotton is super snuggly. Like a floppy rabbit plushie, you want to crush to your chest and nap with. It's clean and giggly. It smacks of doing cartwheels around huge billowing sheets drying in the sunshine. It's that worn out white linen shirt you want to live in. There is the faintest breath of a delicate floral flitting around all this linen and fluffiness.. what is this?? Lilac wood? Blue Bonnet?

Close to your skin scent and a delicate throw. Really just lovely.

I am *seriously* in love with this scent. For me it's like a close cousin of Dragon's Milk, which is only my most favorite perfume in the world of all timer and forever. So, you know, no big.

Anyway, as mentioned, it's soft and sweet and cuddly and just...comforting. It's really, really comforting. I hope that Kwamie is an actual type of cotton, because that's what I am picturing, just wrapping myself up in the biggest, softest smushiest blanket and taking a long nap.

This won Con for me, hands down.

I get a ton of dragon's blood resin, and milk. It's like a mix of Dragon's Milk, and Sudha Segara. Seriously cuddly. Medium throw and wear length.

This was dragon's blood and cotton on me. It was so faint though! Lovely to try, but I am glad I was able to eliminate this from my potential buy list.

This is hard to describe but I want to try because I like this almost as much as Love Low which I am starting to think may be my fave ever.

So disclaimer, people keep mentioning dragons blood and I am not sure I know what that smells like so this review may miss that.

In the bottle this reminds me of dryer sheets and I was pretty nervous. Wet it stays the same but as it dries it morphs into a soft cottony, cuddly scent with a sort of hint of rich sweetness that is not foody, and a milkyness that is also not foody. As described by others this is more of a feeling than a scent strictly, like yes, somebody's well used lovely, clean but enriched by all the cuddles, adventures and passing days it has experienced. This has a very low throw and my skin does eat if pretty quickly, I am happy to reapply though bc like Love Low it is so comforting.

On my skin, it smells like dragon's blood and dragon's milk to me. There is almost a slight floral undertone that is reminding me of dryer sheets. Maybe wisteria? It smells like Night Scene mixed with dragon's milk. Unfortunately my skin does weird things to dragon's blood and makes it smell super sweet. It was fun to try but not a scent for me. :)

Kwamie Cotton

I am dead-set, the luckiest person alive. I am so fortunate to have such amazing BPAL fam track some down for me to test and own;_; <3.

In the Bottle: Sweet, clear, aquatic strawberry hard candy, and cotton candy tinged clean floral

Wet: The star note is the sweet, candy-like, strawberry cotton candy (but the kind that has already been liquified). It’s a sugared, candied kind of strawberry note, smells like a translucent blush-pink, in a stained or tinted lip gloss, kind of way. I find it a tiny bit comparable to the strawberry and cotton candy note in Battle Fairy in Training.

The bottle also has something herbally, slightly woodsy, but most of it evaporates on skin which is a relief. I can't tell what the herbal-esque note in the background is, and though I don’t like it so much. It kind of, almost reminds me of anise and lavendar in characteristic rather than profile. It has this almost medicinal, sour characteristic. It’s also a little ferny- but I can’t actually isolate it. It’s so fleeting that I don’t really get much of a memory of it, and I’m quite happy about that. I only catch whiffs of it if I inhale deeply, but it’s very, very faint- and dare I say, it almost lends to the depth of an otherwise flat, and one-dimensional blend.

There is also a clean watery almost aquatic floral present (you know when something is aquatic , kind of like the cherry blossom in Hanami, with a perfumey facet. And then I get this gentle woodsy note that kind of reminds me of the woodsiness I get from Volcano in Springtime.

Drydown: This is all translucent hard strawberry candy with a hint of spun sugar/fairy floss. It reminds me of what they might put in an upper end cosmetic, lip-gloss product. I didn’t get cotton, I didn’t get “massive, huge, fluffy, snuggle cuddly plush toy” either. It’s definitely sweet, which I think hasn’t been mentioned, but it’s a gentle sweet- a cosmetic and perfume counter, kind of commercial candy-strawberry kind of sweet. The colour of the oil is by far, the prettiest pink I've ever come across! It's not a transcient scent on me either, as the scent is pretty on par in strength with some of my other blends, so I can't really call it a skin scent... but YMMV.

TL;DR: Sweet cottony-candy-ish blush-pink, translucent commercial counter, fruity-strawberry candy lip gloss.

Wet: Strawberry? :blinkblink: What is happening? This smells like Loli Dragon. I wonder if bottles got mislabelled? I was totally expecting cotton of some sort....

OK, it's morphing. Getting a bit of clean dryer-sheet aquatic, mixed with plasticy fruity candy. Tiny hints of DB. Interesting. Smells much less like Loli Dragon now, but totally in the same vein.

Dry: The Dragon's Blood in this is VERY floral to me, and just a touch spicy. It gets high pitched and dominates the scent on me, along with ad odd sort of aquatic note, and that artificial candy thing. This is totally a skin chem fail on me, boo! I was so excited for it too. Oh well, on to someone who's skin will let them love it better.

Wet: Candied dragon's blood!

Dry: This smells remarkably similar to my favorite bedtime scent, Dragon's Milk. The main difference is this blend is MUCH sweeter on my skin, however it still smells comforting and stays close to the skin like DM. I quite like it!

If you like dragon's blood and it plays well with your skin, you would like this blend. I'm glad to have my bottle!

In the bottle: When this arrived, it was all really strong, floral dragon's blood. Now, after settling for about a week, it smells like hard strawberry candies and floral dragon's blood.

Wet: The floral dragon's blood is the most prominent note on me, but it's softer on my skin than it was in the bottle. It does have this cotton-y, cuddly note accompanying it, but I'm not sure if it is cotton or milk (though I'm leaning toward the latter). I can see the comparisons to Dragon's Milk.

Dry: Soft dragon's blood and that cozy, comforting note that I think may be milk. This one ends up being a scent that stays really close to the skin, with the soft, cozy note becoming more prominent on me over time.

Verdict: I'm not normally a fan of dragon's blood. Sometimes it goes weird on my skin chemistry. But oddly enough, it works for me here. This is really comforting, and I'm glad I decided to take a chance on this one!
