Wild Woman with Unicorn

Recommended Posts

Patchouli and wildflowers.

*swoon*

Wildflowers trampled into thick, black mud by unicorn hooves. I swear, I can smell the hooves. I smell daisies in particular. I'm getting a tad bit of crushed greens too (leaves and stems). And the woman's gown ... a slight whiff of fabric.

The wildflowers are there but don't overpower the bold patchouli. If you like patchouli, you probably already ordered this. If not, do so. If you -don't- like patchouli, pass on by. It's strong. Wild, like it's name.

I love-love-love patchouli. I thought East African Black Patchouli and Ask the Nearest Hippie were my patchouli Holy Grail scents. I was wrong. This is my patchouli Holy Grail scent.

Blind bottle purchase for me because I love patchouli. Wild Woman with Unicorn did not disappoint.

It smells exactly like the description, like wildflowers and patchouli. The flowers aren't the perfumey, sharp florals. They are sweet... dewy... I can smell the green leaf... are those bluebells?

But the star of this show is the patchouli. Earthy, mossy, sweet patchouli. It is definitely the dominant note but does not in any way overtake the wildflowers.

For anyone who considers florals to be "old ladyish", the patch converts this scent into something that is quite the opposite. Just like the beautiful, fragrant, colorful wildflower meadows that grow spontaneously, this oil is an earthy delight to the senses.

A lovely generous lady provided me with a generous tester of this! It's fresh out of the mail, but I wanted to share it with another friend to test, so I am giving it a whirl now!

Wet: Yep, patchouli and wildflowers! Almost like there's some wildflower honey in there too! The patchouli is dry and earthy, not at all gnarly or chewy to my nose. The flowers are slightly green - they really do bring to mind the imagine of a field of flowers growing wild. This is really pretty. Not sure how ME it is, but so so pretty.

Dry: Lovely. Gentle patchouli, lovely flowers. Doesn't go even a hint soapy. Smells sun-warmed. So pretty! This might actually be a good "gateway" patchouli scent for those who are nervous about it. If you like florals and are wanting to try some patchouli that's less "in your face" than this might be a great place to start. Personally, I love it, but am still not sure it's "me". So glad I got to try it though!

this isn't the dark and gritty lab patch of so below, but the warm and gently woody patch from 2016 luper, the dream.

with a dusting of something bright and floral.

this is dry in feel, elegant, pretty. well-mannered vs brash and showy.

This patchouli reminds me to the note in Silkybat. It's soft and woody, and the wildflowers are dusted on. So it reminds me to a fresh, floral patchouli. Very feminine and wearable. Low throw and wear length on me though. It sticks very close to the skin.

Of the Unicorn is my patchouli love of the Unicorns series. I'm glad that I just tracked down a decant of Wild Woman, because the patchouli and greenery in it is kind of funky (with undertones of cedar hamster bedding and sweaty BO). I don't smell floral with it, but it has a sour green grass scent to it.
Green grass and animalic, sweaty patchouli.
The drydown after a half hour has a damp, black dirt scent to it that I enjoy, and loses some of the sweatiness, but the green grass scent is still very sharp and sour to me.
And then, around the one hour mark, this has mostly disappeared.
