zankoku_zen Report post Posted April 10, 2011 Wild woods, Bulgarian rose, tolu balsam, vanilla absolute, ambergris, honey, and vanilla. Sleeping Nymphs was all about the honey and the vanilla. On wet, I got a hint of woods, a hint of honey, a hint of vanilla and maybe a peek of rose. As it dried, both the vanilla and especially the honey amped up.Now, I knew I amped up honey but this was a bit crazy. Still, more delicious than predicted if you like honey. vanillabean Report post Posted April 10, 2011 This is pretty much everything I hoped Tombstone would be. I hated Tombstone though, because I amped the cedar and I smelled like a walk-in-closet. This also gives me a great scent memory as it reminds me of my grandpa. Obviously my grandpa smelled amazing! I find it quite masculine, and probably won't wear it a whole lot. But it is a very nice scent. I think it would smell amaaaazing on my fiance. (Tombstone sure did!)
mxtine Report post Posted May 21, 2011 I remember when this went up, I thought about buying a bottle. I think I had too many other things going on and I forgot about it. The only note that worried me was the Bulgarian rose, because rose can either be really great, or headache-inducing on me. It smells pretty medicinal in the imp. On my skin, rose is basically non-existent, and if there is honey in here, it's a very clean white version. Mostly, I get a smooth balsam, ambergris, vanilla and light/blonde woods scent. I'm thinking the vanilla is the same one used in Celeste because it's very similar to her in the dry down, but it lacks the sometimes sickeningly sweet cotton-candy note. I'm pretty sure I'll need to hunt down a bottle or partial.
lookingglass Report post Posted May 22, 2011 (edited) I'm kicking myself for not buying this while I had the chance. I was afraid that the woods would be too woody and the rose would amp and smell Platexey. Not sooooo. This smells like Inez with a little Sed Non Satia. It has a lot of honey, so much it's almost nutty. Is that vetivert I smell way down there...oooh, you deep, deep naughty. I do love you here! The wild rose is almost herbaceous but just enough to give everything some room to breathe. I love these heavy basenote laden scents. ami226 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 On the skin: Lots of woods! That is pretty much all I can smell. It is like a piece of new lumber still with a bit of sap scent. After a bit, I get some honey sweetness, but this is still very heavy in the woods scent. Sadly not for me. Ah, well.
Cthulhuesque Report post Posted February 23, 2012 This scent is so, so beautiful! On me, it dries down to warm, dry woods (mostly balsam/cedar?), with a hint of vanilla and ambergris. I'm not getting much of the rose, or the honey, and I don't miss either of them. If Sleeping Nymph and Satyrs were a color, it would be reddish brown. I find it very sensual and verging on a little masculine, but in a sexy, commanding way. The throw is rather strong. I think this is the type of scent that could "convert" wearers of commercial perfumes. I will definitely have to find more of this, as I doubt my decant is going to last me very long. Balame Report post Posted June 21, 2015 Oh my goodness, oh my dayum. They gotta' slam (dunk). This is gorgeous. When first on SNaS smelled very much like a lighter version of French Tobacco SN with the bonus of ambergris. As it dries the vanilla, honey and balsam give this a very elegant yet seductive side while the woods balance out all the lush notes with their grounding presence. The rose is extremely well-behaved and just peeps out behind everything else, and I'm usually very sensitive (read: terrified) of it, so that was a relief. Sleeping Nymph is glorious, rich and sweet with a subtle lick of naughtiness. I'm completely taken with this one. It's like if Prosperous Flowers of the Elegant Twelve Seasons, Beauty the Aggrieved and Lyonesse had a love child, which is an extremely good thing. Definitely want to find more. aquazoo Report post Posted November 9, 2015 Pretty floral vanilla, then the honey comes up. It really ties everything together and is wonderful!
cyborgcap Report post Posted January 15, 2016 This started off VERY woody, in such a way that I thought it was the lab's leather accord (which I assume is made with some of the same components here). Thankfully I like their leather but it is quite woody in the first hour, with just a hint of something sweet underneath it. Now that it's dry/wearing the wood has mellowed (but is still at the fore) and the rose and vanilla are coming through well and blending beautifully. The rose is subtle to me, but makes the scent very lovely with just enough flowery sweetness, paired with the vanilla and woods and other notes it's a very smooth, lovely wood. LizziesLuck Report post Posted January 7, 2017 Wet: There is vetiver in this. Maybe the wild woods? But this smells like honeyed vetiver, and it's SO GOOD. The vanilla comes through a bit too. That is way better than I expected, but I wish it was stronger. I keep slathering more on. Dry: Mostly honey, hints of vanilla and woody vetiver (not of the sour, smoky variety), This is really pretty. I don't get any rose, which is odd because I amp it. I guess I amp honey more. Which is fine with me, I love honey! This is a nice soft scent, subtle and sensual. I quite like it, and am curious to see how it wears all day - whether it has enough throw and lasting power.
