reena1 Report post Posted December 2, 2010 A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. I had really high hopes for this one since all of the rave reveiws. But my skin decided for me that we were not ment to be. It smells closely to the lovely Tiki Princess but with less coconut and some plastic thrown in the mix. I remember hearing that it gets better with age so im going to keep my imp and try again in a month. *hopefully* we can be friends.
megank4 Report post Posted December 4, 2010 This is really nice. I didn't like Snow White before, but that was before I discovered Pink Snowballs. Also similar to Waltz of the snowflakes.
Incendiare Report post Posted December 10, 2010 2010: Snow White smells a bit cooling and powdery in the vial. Wet, I can smell a bit of coconut and vanilla. Still very gentle and like powdery snow. It is not nearly as cooling as it was in the vial. It kind of reminds me of a gentle evening snowfall, calming and relaxing. No wind, just soft snow flakes. I've had Snow White on my skin for ten minutes now and it's remained the same: a soft, creamy, yet powdery vanilla snow with a pinch of coconut. I never got any apple out of this, or any other fruits for that matter. I can't pick up on any particular florals either. I can see why this is a big hit and I will definitely order a bottle of this. msbcozad Report post Posted December 12, 2010 The 2010 version of Snow White is glorious coconut and vanilla. It's very similar to the 2008 version but doesn't have the buttery undertone I get from 2008. I love this year's version and will be stocking up.
Vega Report post Posted December 18, 2010 Reviewing the 2009 version. Sniffed: Simultaneously cold and mentholic, and coconut-sweet. On skin: Man. Yet another casualty in the string of casualties trampled underfoot by rampaging MINTzilla. Snow White doesn't suffer as much as the others -- I can actually smell something that's not mint! -- but it's a ruined scent. The coconut/floral sweetness clashes with the skin-warmed, mentholic weirdness that my skin chemistry turns mint (and snow, apparently) into, and becomes something aharmonious and not pleasant. Definitely not the chill, snowy, vanilla/coconut that other reviewers are raving about. Verdict: Arrrgh... why do I keep trying snowy/minty blends when I already know mint just ruins everything it touches? I'm so sad about Snow White. Even though she's not obliterated by the MINTzilla, she's disfigured beyond recognition. Alas.
KesHiro Report post Posted December 21, 2010 Snow White 2009 Oh . . . my . . . <img src="http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" /> ~Sweet mystery of life at last I've found you!!!~ I can see why this has so many reviews. I'm in love! In the bottle and wet, I get cold, fresh green plants with the faintest hint of vanilla. Maybe some kind of white musk too? I'm not sure, owing to the fact that I'm pretty much a musk idiot. As it dries, this goes from being a wonderful scent to something magical. I get snow, faint green florals, marzipan, fluffy cream, coconut, and vanilla. It's so pretty, light, dainty, and feminine. Quoting myself here. 2009 was my first experience with Snow White. Here is my take on the 2010 version: Snow White 2010 seems a bit warmer this time around, if that makes any sense. I get more of the marzipan, fluffy cream, coconut vibe this time around, but also the chilly white florals. I know I've made this sound like one hell of a foody scent, but it's not. It simply has elements of the above. Between the two, I think I prefer SW 2010.
Lorelai1945 Report post Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) 2007 version I have a hard time describing Snow White, which is why I think I've never reviewed it before. It's very creamy and soft...somehow I want to say it's a round scent. I know that makes no sense, but it has a roundness, a fullness- it's creamy and soft and never hurts the inside of my nose. I get a hint of rose, a hint of coconut, and it's sweet but not candy-like. I can see how people say there's vanilla there, but I don't get enough definitive vanilla to consider this a "vanilla" scent. It may just be a different type than most of the lab's other vanillas. Or because my skin eats vanilla and doesn't let it shine through like other people. I don't get mint from it, and to me it's not really super cold. There's some other floralness somewhere, too- perhaps carnation in a small amount because I almost get a hint of that type of spice. Dunno, though. 2007 is my favorite of all the years I've tried. It's really lovely and innocent and feminine. The 2010 version seems like it's watered down a bit..like it's farther away when you smell it. There is also more rose, and in fact 2010 reminds me a lot of last year's Pink Snowballs. I thought '09 had the watered down feel, too. Maybe Snow White strengthens and gets better with age. Makes me want to try '04 and '05. Edited December 22, 2010 by VioletFemme
surf-tormented Report post Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) This is review of Snow White 2010. I like this, yet I don't like this. It's a nice cool vanilla type winter snow, but then something invades it. It is probably coconut. Or maybe it could be almond. It's not kind to my nose. It isn't so bad I need to wash it off, but I prefer more mint based snow then foody based snow. It does remind me more of a summer scent, like others have said. It doesn't make me think of Snow White at all. I would think a Snow White perfume would have an apple note, fresh snow and maybe light sweet flowers in it. MerriAnneStowe Report post Posted December 23, 2010 I really wanted to like Snow White 2010. The notes sound great. But when I put it on, it smelled like plastic on me. Old, nasty, deteriorating plastic. I washed it off. I may give it another try later since it sounds like it ought to work. But not as I'm getting ready to head out for the day. thekittenkat Report post Posted January 3, 2011 This is for the 2010 version. In the bottle: Sweet ozone, with a hint of sugar and a touch of coconut. Wet: Not so sweet or airy now. There's some very light florals around and about. The dry-down: This has become very light and very delicate. It's more like a gentle winter breeze with something sweet about it, a winter floral that has its own sweet perfume, but still airy and light. It's different from the 2008 version (which has more of the coconut and vanilla notes to my nose). It's more of a morpher on my skin than previous years' versions. I like it, but don't think that I need a back-up.
steelgossamer Report post Posted January 6, 2011 Well, this was not what I expected at all from the description! 2010 version. In the decant: cool snow, something a bit sweet, something floral, definitely wintery. Wet: SOAP. I get clean, soapy, and slightly sweet. Not very floral at all. Drydown: There are two phases to the drydown for me. It gets plasticky at first, stays soapy, and gets a bit sweeter. Then, as it continues to dry down, the plastic goes away and the soapiness fades into a powdery scent. Dry: After a couple of hours, this smelled clean, musky, and creamy. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say I'm picking up vanilla, white musk, something clean-smelling, coconut milk, and maybe a bit of honey? It's a very creamy sweetness and not at all sharp, sugary, or buttery for me. Just clean, musky, warm, and creamy. It reminds me a bit of White Musk by The Body Shop after several hours or Lilith vs. The Giant Crab after several hours of wear. Maybe a little like Beanman and Beanwoman Prepare to Attack the Vagina as well, I feel like it shares the coconut milk note with that one.
Babypopje Report post Posted January 7, 2011 I just LOVE Snow White! How I met her: It was January 2010, and it just had been my 19th birthday. I got a surprise package by mail from a friend from a Lush forum.. and in it was.. a decant of Snow White! It was my first BPAL ever, and I immediantely fell in love! It lasts sooo incrediably long, it is a romantic, soft, grown-up scent. I really can smell the fresh apple, that's what I like about it so much. It is a really apple-y and flowery scent, perfect for winter and early spring! The point is, normally, I HATE flowers in a blend. Well, most of the times. Because this is romance, elegance in a bottle! I just love it, and will never let it go!
pandorasmuse Report post Posted January 8, 2011 If this is anything like The Snow Maiden, it’s gonna knock my socks off. A clear, cold-looking oil. In the decant: Sweet! No individual flowers than I can pick out. Maybe a bit of sugar? A hint of that snow note. BPAL snow doesn’t always work on me, but when it does, I love it. Wet: Vanilla sugar. Unfortunately, also some plastic… Drydown: This smells like my old Ikea toybox full of Barbies in the early 90s. This is the first time a BPAL scent has gone plastic on me, but I’ve heard many stories. This certainly is a disappointment. Later: I left it on to see what happened. The plastic did fade somewhat, but the resulting scent reminded me of Waltz of the Snowflakes. I think I can safely pass on this one, as long as I pick up Snowflakes. Jupita Report post Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) It smells like marzipan on me... drying up, it turns, and starts smelling like play doh. Sad... I really hoped for something similar to the description... I suspect that the vanilla is what turns to play doh... I don't smell no flowers nor coconut. ADDED Jan. 24: In the imp this smells like soft, powdery play doh. Wet, soft marzipan and play doh in the back. On the dry down, there is some apple blossom scent that develops and somewhat compensates the almond/marzipan scent... It makes me think that if I liked almond, this would be wonderful with some Lush's Snowcake. Sadly, I hate anything almondy... and this is really not my type of thing, despite being kinda nice all in all. Apparently I posted two reviews of the same scent, with a few days of difference. Sorry... Edited April 1, 2011 by Shollin
countessmouse Report post Posted January 13, 2011 Lordy, I'd forgotten how strong this one can be on me. It's a lovely scent, but a little can go a looooong way. And is it just me, or is there a lot more coconut in the 2010 version than the 2008?
angburfield Report post Posted January 16, 2011 I had bought a bottle of this unsniffed last year based on the reviews..and id not like it due to the plasticy edge. I was told to age it and now I am in love with this. Creamy/ milky/ coconut/ vanilla / with florals. So gentle and feminine..exactly what a female should smell like in my opinion. Good throw and wear length..hovers close to the skin but with enough presence to call someone closer to smell you. Snowy and bright but so soft and warm and the same time!! sihaya09 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 2010 version. Yep, Snow White, same as years past, but somehow more sugared than other years'. My 2005 bottle has never been this sweet, even when it was brand new. I definitely prefer the less-sweet version, so hopefully the 2010 bottle will mellow and deepen with age. starpixi81 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 This is for the 2010 Snow White. Snow White is hard for me to describe. It has a very bright feel to it, it reminds me of wild cherry, which I think is how I am interpreting the almond/marzipan-ness of this. This doesn't go into plastic territory for more than a minute(unlike 2007 which was very plastic and unpleasant on me. This one reminds me of my 2008 bottle I used to have). On my skin this has a pretty floral quality, and while I don't smell vanilla per se, I definitely think it is in there sweetening things up. I smell a slight bit of pine(similar to the type in The Jersey Devil) and not too much mint, although the oil has a "cold" quality that is probably from mint. I love Snow White and I only need to use a tiny bit for it to be noticeable. Nice throw and I am glad I got a bottle again!
milo Report post Posted January 26, 2011 At first, this is quite different than my 07 bottle. I'm getting mint and a bit of snow and the bright, crisp florals. I am really loving this version so far! It does end up drying down to pretty much a dead ringer of my 07 bottle, though. A warm vanilla with a bare whisp of mint and flowers. It is just a bit plastic, but maybe age will take care of that. I have and love my Snow White, and don't use it much, so I don't need more.
Tiada Report post Posted March 3, 2011 (edited) '08 version In the imp it smelled vanilla-y with a bit of something crisp and bright. Wet: PLAY DOH. Nothing but Play doh. Dry: As much as my co-workers insist that I don't smell like play doh, it's all I can smell for the most part. My one co-worker LOVES this, and keeps assaulting me to sniff my arms. I wish I could smell what she's smelling. I can tell there is a bit of vanilla, and coconut that are trying to make an appearance, but the play doh is stuck in my brain and nothing else is going to win. I'm going to give my imp to the co-worker who's so infatuated with it, and she can see if it will work better on her. Maybe on her I'll be able to smell what it's SUPPOSED to smell like! EDIT: I figured out what's bugging me. Almond. Almond is the one that's making me think I still smell like play doh. I HATE almond/amaretto/etc. It's gross. Both my co-workers adore it, which is why they're loving this so much. Edited March 3, 2011 by Tiada
frecklestars Report post Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) This is for the 2010 edition of this scent. In the bottle: quite chilly and minty, with a hint of something sweet like pastry dough. it is definitely reminiscent of walks taken on chill winter mornings and is refreshing in that sense. not a particularly friendly or cuddly scent. On my skin: once on, the chilliness comes through much more and the sweetness all but disappears. the flowers are the faintest breath and almost smell like they're rotting (certainly past their prime). it's mournful and still a little unfriendly. this isn't one I'd wear when I expect to fall in love, but rather when I want to be left alone in my silence and thoughts. Last thoughts: there's something that's just a touch off about it, but perhaps that's my skin chemistry. regardless, I feel like the scent of this perfume would be slightly odd in the summer; like winter showed up in the middle of July. that said, it's perfectly pleasant and hardly overwhelming. if anything, I sometimes forget I'm wearing it which makes it just a little too subtle for my taste. also, I think I agree with some previous posters: it's too close to play doh, which is probably the almond elements. good to check if your skin/nose likes almonds or hates them before you try this one. RedRoseMaze Report post Posted March 22, 2011 In the bottle: So soft and delicate... I smell a bit of vanilla and sugar, but I’m not quite sure what else. Wet: It smells sweet and floral, almost foody. It reminds me of Dana O’shee, only colder and crisper. Dry: It turned into vanilla, coconut, mint, and almond, with a floral background. Verdict: Overall, it’s lovely; however, I really got into it when I went outside. The cold winter air improves it somehow; it becomes even crisper afterwards. mxtine Report post Posted March 30, 2011 2009 version Imp: Soapy Wet: Creamy coconut soap. It's a very cool scent, but I can't smell anything minty. Dry: Nothing changes from wet to dry. It makes me think of a refreshing, crisp snowy day. 2010 version Imp: Almond soap Wet: Marzipan and creamy coconut soap. Dry: Like the 2009 version, the wet to dry stages don't change much. 2010 has a marzipan note that I did not notice in the 2009 version. They are both pretty and very "clean" smelling. I can't say that I'd be reaching for these since clean isn't my cup of tea.
KittyHawk Report post Posted August 2, 2011 I'm reviewing 2005 Snow White and dear lord, it is perfect. In the imp, wet, and on drydown, it is all the same: frozen flowers with a hint of vanilla and maybe a little apple. It is so sophisticated and whimsical, romantic and fresh. I will need to take extra care to use my decant sparingly, because I have the urge to dump the whole vial on every time I take it out of my imp box. This is my favorite BPAL by a long shot. My dearest Snow White, I adore you.
sharkdiver Report post Posted August 11, 2011 I'm reviewing the 2008 version. I bought the 5ml, unsniffed. In the Bottle: Very soft floral, and a note reminiscent of green grass Wet: Sort of a "gritty" scent of wet snow...which seems to only cling close to my wrists. 15 minutes later: The throw is moderate, and smells of lovely soft flowers. It's very feminine and beautiful. This could EASILY become an everyday scent for me. So soft and delicate; it's as if they've managed to bottle the smell of Innocence! (which I am sooo not...LOL)
