MCS4096 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. Snow White 09Oh my gosh, this smells so good on my boyfriend, he's such a good sport about BPAL. he puts anything on that smells good to him, even something others would say was VERY femme. but he always wears it sooo well.Anyhow, AMAZING! Mostly a sweet, lightly floral almond with the lightest hint of pine. Very soft, BUT strong throw (if that makes sense).
CynicalPink Report post Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Bottle: Vanilla scented plastic...oh noes... <img src="http://www.bpal.org/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_sad.gif" /> Wet: Okay less plastic. Still very vanilla and fluffy. Drydown: Well it's not play-doh, but it something odd. But not unpleasant. Kinda nice actually? I...I don't know? I guess I need to test again. Not willing to give up on this just yet Overnight: And it lasts and lasts. I fell asleep with this on and I can smell it on my wrists like I just put it on Update with age: Gorgeous. There's now a sweet, crisp, green apple note in the fluffy vanilla coolness. Hooray! Edited July 24, 2010 by CynicalPink
damonkitty Report post Posted December 16, 2009 The crazy thing about this scent is I have had a bottle of the 2007 version in my collection and had never even tried it out until yesterday. What the heck was I thinking? I think I may had won it in a BPAL set and cast it off in my collection as a floral blend that I probably would not like. Beat me over the head because this may be one of the most wonderful blends I have ever worn of ANY fragrance in my entire lifetime . I will be stocking up on th 09 version because I will always have to have this blend in my drawer. I can see why this blend is brought back year after year. It is pure genious in a bottle. I am in love with the vanilla/almond smell that lasts ALLLLL day on me. I was smelling this blend on myself all the way up to bedtime. This gives me that same comforting scent like Candy Butcher does. Since Candy Butcher is so rare now, I will just have to slather myself with Snow White when I want that same comforting feeling. malaliath Report post Posted December 18, 2009 Snow White 2009 In Imp: Um, burning old lady perfume made from plastic? I don't even really want to put it on, but I've been surprised before, so... Wet, On Skin: Almond extract drizzled over burning cherries. What on earth is with all the burning? Dry, On Skin: Coconut coming out dimly through the almond. And yes, the coconut is also burning. Oh MY!! Wham, Play-Doh. Whoa. Whoa. Later: Complete Play-Doh. Wet Play-Doh, at that. Off to swap pile. I was quite excited about this blend. Oh well!
Aldercy Report post Posted December 19, 2009 Sometimes I think this is a little plasticky (accompanied by a bit of almond), but most of the time it's a very gentle snowy floral. I'm hoping the plastic will fade with a little age, because Snow White seems like a good traditional (but still interesting) staple. I think it would be good for almost any time of year, actually. Cool and unassuming.
cinnamonster Report post Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) Wet there's a hint of something floral but it's soon gone and morphs solely into vanilla scented doll-plastic. It's certainly not seductive, but I do keep sniffing it. It's not unpleasant, I just wonder if it's meant to smell differently. update: well I have to edit this as I have changed my mind! I like this a lot. I asked my sister to sniff my wrist and she liked it also, which surprised me as I imagined it might be too plastic for others to find it a 'perfume' as such. DeltaCat Report post Posted December 22, 2009 09~ Hello beautiful!!! Sweet floral goodness. Come to mamma!!!!! This one lasted quite awhile. I will need a bottle and perhaps a backup.
HKB Report post Posted December 22, 2009 09 and 07 both smell like playdoh. I can tell there's other things going on that I want in on, but the playdoh dominates and ruins all of it. I really wish it would work for me. 09 is a sharper smelling playdoh.
sqwook Report post Posted December 25, 2009 2009 version In the bottle: Vanilla, antique lace-like, I predict it'll be popular on the forum. On me: Vanilla with a tinge of almost pina colada on me. I don't get snow, wind, chilliness, or flowers. It's highly not me, though in a way that is usually popular for those who love vanilla more than I do. Pretty & innocent. thewondersmith Report post Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Snow White 05 I honestly have no idea what to expect from Snow White. Snow notes don't usually work on me, and neither do florals, but SW seems pretty darn popular, and I figured I should at least give it a shot. Wet: Creamy sugar... reminds me a lot of the heavy cream from the Candy Butcher, minus the chocolate. It's quite lovely, actually. It goes through a stage of WOAH HI I'M JASMINE HI LOOK AT ME I'M JASMINE, but then the cream tells the florals to use their inside voices and everything settles down after about five or ten minutes. Dry: How bizarre. This isn't cold-smelling on me at all. It reminds me of skin-warmed lotion and soap made from white flowers and... oddly, oatmeal. It's really pretty! Sweet but not enough to be cloying, and there's not a huge amount of throw. I don't get much almond, but all in all, it's a really pretty, feminine scent. laslibres Report post Posted December 28, 2009 09 version! So, snow flurries smell like coconut and winter wind smells like ivy? 'Cause that's what it smells like straight out of the vial. But I’m down with that. There's coconut and maybe some almond-vanilla-milky notes, like Dana O’Shee, plus icy greenery. (It IS somehow icy…a little ozoney, a little cold.) The coconut smells a little greeney too, and there's also...maybe some lemon? Plus a little bit of...something else kinda strange. It’s probably a night-blooming flower, but it sort of smells like cleaning product or medicine or something. However, that is a small, miniscule note in what is otherwise a pretty good blend...warm and comforting, good for winter.
ellebelle Report post Posted January 4, 2010 '09 Wow, this one smells almost odorless in the vial, maybe a faint scent of flowers. On, this smells like doll plastic. It dries down to doll plastic. I don't get cream or coconut or flowers or anything - just plastic.
Katherynne Report post Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) '09 - On, this smells like doll plastic. It dries down to doll plastic. This. Well, I got coconut-almondy doll plastic, or maybe coconut-almondy tape adhesive. it also, unfortunately, WON'T COME OFF. voodoocatwoman Report post Posted January 11, 2010 '09 version Yep. Soft doll plastic. Just about covers this one.
Horrorpop Report post Posted January 13, 2010 Okay......so my first review! Snow White 09! Being new to BPAL I haven't tried any of the older blends, but I do have to say..... at first sniff here! It's a boiling summer here in Australia and I decided to try some of my Snow White on a 44 degree day hoping that if I can smell something cold, it would hopefully cool me down too! I was getting something a bit floral, a bit coconutty, a bit almondy.....and something a bit minty? It was so nice and refreshing. I couldn't keep my nose still all day! My sister had a sniff and loved it too, and has been coming over everyday to sneak some on before she sees her SO lol Average throw and looooooooong wear length on me! So glad I got a bottle! meaganola Report post Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) I don't get plastic, I don't get nasty vanilla, I don't get almond, and I don't get Play-Doh. I just get soft, creamy (vanilla, yeah, but not candle vanilla), light florals with a teeny tiny hint of coconut. It's very lovely and girlie. Unfortunately, I don't do lovely and girlie. This might smell to me exactly what it smells like to Snow White-lovers, but it's just not my thing, much like I have zero interest in French manicures. I thought this might be my reaction, though, so I'm not disappointed. I'm actually relieved that I was finally able to correctly predict this for a change. ETA: It's still going strong the morning after, and this is even after a shower. I like it less and less the longer it sticks around. I'm hoping I can smother it because I am fortunately in the mood for something heavy. Edited January 18, 2010 by meaganola
Amoraexcena Report post Posted January 19, 2010 '04 version Bottle: a light, cold, slightly medicinal scent. Wet on Skin: a winter-greens scent. Apple blossoms, and lily musk…. A touch of pine? Drydown: stays very true and very close to the skin. It’s reminding me of The Girl, maybe because it smells so elusive.
sarandipitee Report post Posted January 22, 2010 Of all my Yule decants I was most excited about Snow White. Everyone had raved about how amazing the previous years were. Unfortunately, all I get from smelling amy imp after applying to my skin is plastic. Plastic enough to give me a headache and want to immediately wash it off. It does have in the initial stages a slightly wintery scent (no coconut/vanilla at all) but is so overpowered by the plastic that it doesn't really matter. I'm going to keep my decant though and tuck it away for a few months and retest. *fingers crossed*
skylarkza Report post Posted February 7, 2010 In the bottle: Crisp light floral. Wet: The same floral, but a little creamier and with half melted snow slush in the background. Dry: This smells like small white flowers, cream and the wind sneaking through the window on a snowy day. A while later: At first I think that it has disappeared. But then I realize that it is still there. Slightly creamy, slightly floral, but mostly cold. It smells like "cold", I don't know how, but it does.
misscoldheart Report post Posted February 10, 2010 I just got this in a swap. Coming from a place that get a lot of snow and has piles of it right now, I do agree that this does encompass the "smell" of snow but also the "feeling" of it as well. I'm getting a sweet, barely floral, light scent at first. Somehow it grows A LOT stronger quickly and dries to a creamy floral scent with a lot of throw. It took a while (like HOURS) for it to dry down to something tolerable for me. I do think it's lovely, but I prefer scents that stay close to the skin. It also reminds me somewhat of Villainess Retrograde perfume now that it's dried down and calmed down. I can get to this point faster with retrograde, so I think Snow White will be making her way to a new home.
svelterose Report post Posted February 21, 2010 I give this 5 stars. It's definitely worth all the hype people have given it on the forum. It smells fresh, crisp, beautiful and very, very pretty. It's creamy and for some reason, I want to say it's got the vaguest hint of almonds but not. Totally try this if you can.
CitizenBree Report post Posted February 22, 2010 This is a review for the 2008 version. I just received a decant recently so I don’t know if this is one that changes when it ages or not so keep that in consideration. This smells so creamy delicious. Coconut-vanilla like others have said, with soft wisps of flowers. I thought this would be good to wear since it just snowed, but I almost feel like it’s a summer scent. It’s cold, but like ocean cold or air-conditioning cold. This is something I could slather on in the summer and just know it would smell so good mixed with my sweat. Maybe it’s because the coconut brings out a little of the suntan lotion smell, but not in a bad way. I’m glad to see that this is a scent that comes back each year. I don’t want to get too in love with scents that are hard to find. I will get a bottle of this next time. If it smells radically different, then I’ll know to age it. doublehelix Report post Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) For the 09 version in the imp: creamy soft florals wet on skin: this smells like a lush product... OMG it smells like snowcake!!! dry on skin: very creamy... I don't know if it's vanilla/almond that's giving me the snowcake comparison, but this is yummy! girasol Report post Posted February 28, 2010 Being Australian, I am not all that familiar with the scent of snow. But this does have a fresh chilliness to it, while at the same time being quite floral and very soft and creamy. The first time I wore it, my skin must have come in contact with the fabric of our couch, because the couch smelled wonderful for about two weeks and every time I sat down I was happily sniffing at it! This is one of my all time favourite BPALs, I hope there's a version this Yule too!
Dark Alice Report post Posted March 2, 2010 Snow white 05 smells exactly like my 07 bottles. Chilly white florals with a hint of suntan lotion. Since I love it either way....I will keep the imp.
