Sed Non Satiata

Recommended Posts

A pounding heartbeat coalesced into scent: demonic passion and brutal sexuality manifested through myrrh, red patchouli, cognac, honey, and tuberose and geranium in a breathy, panting veil over the darkest body musk.

i thought i liked this one, then just re-tried it and all i am getting is a strong pencil-shaving sandalwoody-smell with a powdery overtone. this one will go to the swap pile. Edited by theseagrows

In the imp, this was all patchouli.

On me, it smells like a sweet perfumey potpourri. I really dislike this. ::runs to wash off::

Got this today in a swap, and am so glad it isn't peanut butter or shaved pencils on me!

Actually, it is a very nice incensy musk, not too sweet, but heavy. Heavier than I usually like, so I learned that 2 swipes is way two many! (damn, I couldn't resist that-I am a huge dork for puns). I get everything but the tuberose and geranium, and it melds nicely together so that nothing is too distinct.

I don't think I'll get a 5 ml, but I may keep this around, try it out now and then for evenings out-definitely an evening scent, sultry and sexy.

I was really looking forward to trying this oil, so I was thrilled when it was a frimp in my latest order.

I was looking forward to a great, sexy patchouli scent. Once I put it on, the honey and musk dominated. The combination of honey, patchouli and musk made this a powdery, musky, honey scent. I've been leery of honey in oils as it never seems to work on me, but the Lupercalia scents made me rethink. But I'm coming to the conclusion that it is a rare scent with honey that will work on me. So between the honey and powder, plus the funky musk, it all combined to turn this into a scent that I won't be reaching for again.

This one grabbed me from its intriguingly pornographic description, so on impulse I added it to my last order. And I'm very, very glad I did.

I can smell the musk and patchouli right off, with a sweeter twinkle that must be the florals. There's a boozy note here that is very round and warm. It's a very sexual scent, powerfully so. In its raw state, perhaps the most strongly sexy scent I've found yet. Raw, it's also gender neutral.

On, this fills out. It's bitingly sexy. That sweetness was the honey, which with the cognac is so rich that I can taste it. Oh, god, this is hot stuff. Very well-blended, the patchouli, myrrh, and honey mingle with the musk, brought up only by the slightly sweet and powdery florals. What with the honey, it's a little reminiscent of O, but this is a more biting, aggressive scent, driven by the patchouli.

The opening volley of this rouses in me a fiercely passionate desire – sex as the aggressive urge; not the desire to hurt or inflict pain, as with the knife's-edge sexuality of Loviatar, or the urge to humiliate without the offer of gratification, as with Iago, but the urge to simply take, to ravish. I'm reminded of a line from that escapist bit of fluff Original Sin, which is really a great guilty pleasure movie, where a character remarks with uncanny accuracy that "To love is to give, and want to give more. To lust is to take, and want to take more."

This is the smell of wanting to take more. The essence of lust, of thrusting your lover's body against a wall, of taking with hands and mouth and body until they have no more to give, and then forcing them just that much further until you have wrung every last cry from them, every gasp, every helpless flutter of pleasure.

This dries to a patchouli-floral medley that teeters on the very edge of being nastily powdery, like Carnivàle was on me, but never quite tips over. It doesn't keep that knife-edge sexiness that it began with, but it's still nice. A version of this without the geranium would be fantastic. Recommended.

First sniff: Much sweeter than I expected… but rather than being headachey-sweet, it smells like The World’s Best Honey over warm skin, with incense burning somewhere in the background.

Wearing: Honeyed skin – the smokiness has vanished, and I can’t smell the musk as a separate entity at all; it’s just melded with my skin. Simply glorious. The aura reminds me very much of O. I’ll see if it has a similar effect on my guy… and if so, it’ll have to go in the “not for wearing in public” pile. :P

From the desription I thought for sure I would love this blend. In the vial all I smell is the myrrh and patchouli.. was hoping more for the honey & cognac! I put it on and it seems that this is one of those oils that actually smells the same on my skin as it does in the vial. Darn, I had such high hopes for you Sed Non Satiata.

ETA: how weird, I did get a hint of peanut butter and just read that others did too. IT was more in the vial/on skin wet because I don't smell it at all now.

Ah, I had such high hopes for Sed Non Satiata! The dominant note on me is patchouli... At least it isn’t myrrh! I thought maybe red patchouli was okay, because I really like the sexy Ravenous, and I do like it more than regular patchouli.

In the vial, this is a boozy, musky patchouli scent with a slight sweetness behind it. It’s a dark scent. But it's just patchouli on my skin (with something a sweet under it - this would be the florals and honey) until it has faded after a few hours. There is something soft on my skin after the patchouli has disappeared, possibly the musk, but it's too subtle and gentle for me to be able to tell.

It does have a sexy edge, but I think that (for me) Ravenous still wins in the sexiness stakes!

in the imp:

A really rich, round scent - really nice.

wet:

The main note I'm getting is a very resinous scent, with some spiciness to it (but no peanut butter thank goodness!). There's a slightly acrid note for a few minutes, but that mostly goes away as it dries.

dry:

Wow, I like this more and more as time goes on. There's a slight powder scent from the honey, but ignoring that, this is great. It's a very sophisticated and sexy scent, and really complex to my nose (in a good all-the-notes-fit-together-perfectly way, not at all in a chaotic complex way). If it was a color, this blend would be deep, deep red with gold flecks.

season: fall or winter

office-friendly? yes

overall:

This is a really gorgeous, complex, rich scent, with a "clean" feeling vibe too. It's not exactly me but I think it'll be good for a change from all my light flowery girly scents.

Sed Non Satiata is predominantly a myrrh and honey scent on me that has a slightly floral background. As usual, I don't care for honey, although I think the honey tempered by the myrrh makes it prettier than most honey blends. The florals in the background aren't discernible as individual notes, but in my head, something tells me I'm sniffing red flowers, and when I see the description, I realize it's not just red flowers, but also red patchouli, as well. It's a nice scent, but it's not really something I'd wear often due to the honey.

Sed Non Satia is another classic BPAL dark musk scent along the line of Snake Oil and its LE friends. The myrrh, honey, and patchouli play supporting roles. If the muskies are your favorites, Sed will be welcome in your collection. For me, I like it and will give the imp some rotation.

Unfortunately this was one of the few dark musk and floral blends that did not work out for me. It was just too dark to work with my skin chemistry. I'm fairly sure that it's the myrrh that hates me so much, it hated me in The Perfumed Garden too.

Wet, it's all musk, with a hint of patchouli that doesn't smell entirely unpleasant, although it doesn't entice me, either.

As it begins to dry on my skin, the musk becomes more aggressive, knocking all the other scents out of the way as it demands my full attention. This is marginally off-putting.

It's not until full dry-down that the honey comes out at all, and even then, the sweetness isn't enough to stand its ground against the all-encompassing musk. After three hours, everything has faded but the musk, which is clinging on like a house guest that doesn't want to leave.

This simply doesn't work on me at all.

I hated this one in the bottle. Too strong and I am definitely more of an "airy-light" fan. This is NOT airy or light. Very heavy scent. Woody almost.

On...I like it a little better. I smell some spiciness...like cinnamon. Still a little strong for me. Not a fan, but I'm not trading it away either. For some reason I feel like I need to revisit this one later...

Edited to add: I'm glad I gave this a try because after about 10 minutes this morphed into one lovely smelling oil. It's not strong or "heady" like I initially thought. Now it's a gorgeous, interesting scent with a kick. I KNEW there was something I was missing with this when I first put it on. Bottom line, once you get over the initial punch, it's gorgeous.

In bottle: Swarthy and musky.

On skin, wet: The musk stays sweet as the honey gets amped up with the cognac, but primarily remains honey.

On skin, dry: The most lascivious patchouli myrrh musk you find.

Conclusion: So very, very hot.

Rating: 5/5

This is some fabulous stuff! Red patchouli is fast becoming a top fave note for me. It is very very rich in Sed Non Satiata. The honey keeps this sweet but not too foody. And the addition of the musk and cognac is too good for words. :P

Sed Non Satiata

in imp: myrrh and honey

wet: nuts, myrrh, honey, and cognac...smells slightly medicinal

dry: gone!! well, almost, just a faint whiff of myrrh and honey left

verdict: fades too quickly (in less than 2 hours)

Woo. Normally I'm leery of black musk and rose, but in Sed they work.

At first it's nothing but the usual thing black musk does on my skin, which is rancid armpits. That sucks, but it mellows out after about five minutes and the honey and patchouli and myrrh slink out and blend into a thick hot swath of PURE SEX. The rose and geranium are there, but very faint; enough to make it a womanly perfume instead of an earthy honey blend.

Man. This is a seriously erotic scent. Hot and nasty. What a treat!

it started off right out of the imp with a sour smell and left me wishing it had more of a honey smell... after five minutes, it's still sour smelling.

It just doesn't work for me. :P

My first impression of Sed Non Satiata was unexpected because I detected a mixture of something fruity/berry-ish with honey and musk in the vial.

Wet on right wrist: Wow, this is strong - an allconsuming musk/honey/floral/booze scent is surrounding me - easily one of the strongest oils I have tried yet!

Drying/dry: Still very strong and I can smell the patchouli now blending with the honey and floral notes - up close the scent is a teeny bit soapy and clean smelling but the waft is very sweet and alluring - I like it a lot! :P

Sed Non Satiata-

In Bottle: A little honeysuckle, a little musk-spicy.

Wet: There's an almost chocolaty bloom on my skin! It's rich and warm and very pleasant...what could that be? I think it's like...dark dark dark dark honey, like buckwheat honey.

Dry: This stays quite lovely! Warm and soft and rich, all the way through.

Overall: I really like!

This is a beautiful, deep, musky honey on me. I really wish I hadn't been so put off by the description at first, because it's really not as heavy or dirty-smelling as I thought it would be. I actually think I may like it even a tad better than O, and that is high praise indeed!

Another gorgeous BPAL honey scent! :P
