    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I had an imp of The Red Queen which I fell in love with, so I ordered a bottle from the lab. Now when I put the imp on, I get no reaction - just the lovely cherry/woody smell. From the bottle I have a nasty allergic reaction (I put it on one morning and next thing I knew my arms, chest and neck were red and lumpy). Bah humbug!

    Catherine

In the Bottle: I swing between liking the smell of this in the bottle and hating it - I'm not certain about the combination of rosemary and orange. I get a nice smell of the rosemary and the rose and then the orange raises it's ugly head and I hate it. On Fresh: Mellowed and then the orange hit me. Yuck! Gonna stick with it and see what happens, but for now yuck! Later: Orange! Orange! and Slightly rotten orange! Overall: Don't like it, don't want it, Bleurgh! Swapped it almost instantly

    Dragon's Musk

In the bottle: I think my first reaction to this was "I don't want that anywhere near me," it just smelt so musky and strong I was afraid it'd overpower me entirely. On fresh: The distaste is gone! The musks have all mellowed and I have a lovely rounded smell on my wrist. Can't name anything in particular other than instead of looking slightly worried when I sniff my wrist I actually smile.

    Phantom Queen

In the bottle: num-num-num, I smell the apples and the moss and then a tang of something else. Made me just want to put it straight on. On fresh: Dreamy and sweet, the smell you have when you lie on your back in a field and pretend the world doesn't exist anymore. Apple blossom, Meadowsweet and the hawthorn are the strongest scents. This doesn't change at all wet or dry. I love it!

    Eve

On fresh: Baby Wipes - must be the rose and old associations with that smell. Later: Apple comes out and feels like a summer day, however every now and then the rose plays up and I get babywipes again. Overall: Uncertain, I like it when I get the apple smell combining with the roses, but when all I can smell is the roses all I think of is that I smell like I've just changed a nappy.

    Bliss

In the Bottle: Chocolate, but chocolate that has sat out and melted in the sun. On my wrist: chocolate that has been melted and has boiled. If I hadn't accidentally spilled this on me during school I would have washed it off straight away. YUCK!

    Morella

In the Bottle: Sage, musk and flowers... odd mix, but not unpleasant. On my wrist: A herb and flower garden. It has a musky smell, but after wearing Smut it's not unpleasant and I actually really like it.

    The Red Queen

In the Bottle: I smell Cherries, lovely nice smelly cherries. On my wrist: Cherries! Cherries! Cherries! As it dries the wood comes out and mingles with the cherries. I just want to sniff my wrist all the time. My Cat also likes it, or at least that is my interpretation of her rubbing her head against the back of my wrist (not where the perfume is, the other side). I love this Just after writing: Wah! No more cherries! But woods, lots and lots of woods, freshly chopped wood and freshly waxed wood. I love this. Even when the cherry goes it's lovely.

    Freak Show

In the Bottle: Lemon, Vanilla and Chocolate with a little hint of musk and fruit. On my Wrist: Vanilla and Musk, with a tang, unlike other chocolate scents this one has disappeared in preference to the Vanilla. Later: Now the chocolate starts to come out, but it is tempered by something which smells a bit like cinammon, and there is still a musky smell. (In later wearings the smell has always been slightly different, but the chocolate has never appeared until about 2 hours into wearing it - which is good for me). Overall: I love this and have taken to wearing it when I know I have a stressful day coming up at school, simply because catching a smell of it makes me smile.

    Pumpkin Patch I (2005, 2006)

In the bottle: Apples but the smell you get just as they are reaching the gloopy stage and just as you add the spices when making apple pie (which I hate to eat but love the smell of) On my wrist: There's the apples and the spices with the pumpkin peeking in and rounding off the smell and stopping it from being too sweet. Later: I want to eat my wrist. It smells edible and gorgeous and I just want to keep sniffing it. The pumpkin has mingled with the apples and a tinge of spice, and it reminds me of sitting by a fire drinking mulled wine, whilst someone else eats apple pie and we have just eaten squash (which whilst isn't pumpkin is the closest that I have ever got to it) Overall: I love this smell. Just a pity it was a limited ed. Will keep my eye out at Halloween though and try rescue myself a bottle if they re-release it.

    Fire of Love

A catalytic, potent love oil used to spark (or rekindle) the flame of desire between lovers. In the Bottle: I can't really pick anything out. On my wrist: Grass, lemon and cheap incense. Later: Arggh! Cheap Incense ahoy! I smell like a place that is burning 32759843 sticks of incense all which are a slightly different scent. Oh and mix that with dried on sweat and you have what I smell of. Going to wash off now. Overall: Erm.... I could cope with the cheap incense to begin with, but when it reared its head properly it was so incredibly horrible.

    Oblivion

In the Bottle: It's green. I actually smell nothing. Nothing at all. It's like the absence of smell. On my wrist: Still nothing. Nothing stands out and I smell nothing. Later: Okay so I have a smell now. Smells like the dregs of incense after it has finished burning and is disappating, but without the earlier stronger scent. Overall: I smelt nothing at all, and I don't really want to smell of nothing. I suppose it resembles its name, but on the whole, I'd rather smell strongly of something than wear perfume and smell nothing. The musk never raised it's head once, nor did the saffron or wood spice.

    Vice

In the Bottle: Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. I had greater hopes for this with the orange and cherry tempering it, but I can't smell them. On my Wrist: Chocolate comes first and strongly. I can just smell a bit of orange, but not a lot, the chocolate was just far too strong. Later: Still Chocolate, and it's still stronger, even the orange has given up the ghost and given up. Overall: I don't like smelling of chocolate thank you very much. I had hopes for this of cherries and orange but they just gave up and paled into insignificance.

    Lump of Coal

In the Bottle: Ugh, chocolate, hot molten chocolate. I smell no fudge! Where is my fudge? On my Wrist: Chocolate is overpowering me, I hates the smell of melted chocolate, it just makes my stomach turn. Overall: This leapt straight into the post and was sent to a friend who likes chocolate.

    Tiresias, the Androgyne

From the bottle: Cinnamon and caramel with a fading whiff of black currant. At First: Oooh... cinnamon, caramel and tobacco, this actually smells good. Later: Behind the bike sheds, the ash from the forbidden cigarettes swirls in the wind and the goth girl is leaving after getting off with her boyfriend. The combination of the smells swirl together and combine with the discarded carton of blackcurrant juice. Overall: I don't like smelling like behind the bike sheds. Tiresias is getting firmly put into the swaps box. It's giving me a headache.

    Arachnina, The Spider Girl (2006)

So, me and patchouli don't get on. In fact whenever we meet we have screaming rows and I have banned it from my BPAL collection. So, somehow I ended up with 3 decants of this. I must admit that I did try it on and then attempted to avoid smelling it at all. I did summon up the courage to smell it wet and well, the patchouli hadn't let me down and was screaming at me. I almost washed it off but didn't. One more piece of marked coursework later I had another sniff before washing it off and was pleasantly shocked, the patchouli had given up the ghost. I could smell a musky blackcurrant, which is what I must have purchased it for. If I could cope with the 10mins of Patchouli then I'd love this, as it is I only like it. It's not going straight into the swap box, but it's not being clung to tightly.

    Faith

I really dislike florals and they dislike me. So I tried Faith with some scepticism. So, I was pleasantly suprised when what came up from it was a buttery creamy fragrance with none of the nasty floral I really dislike. Only issue with it is that it is really quiet, I can only smell it if I shove my nose onto my arm and sniff hard.

    Australian Copperhead (2006)

imp: reminds me of the smell of very berry lifesavers wet: very berry with a hint of vanilla. Not overpowering, but quite soothing and edible. dry: sweet vanilla, with the berry taking a back seat. There is a slight musky spicyness to the vanilla. It lasts the day on me without reapplication. I love this scent and have convinced my other half to buy me a bottle for my birthday

    Monster Bait: Tokyo Stomp

In bottle: oooh mint! but a rounded mint! On wrist: Mint Aero. Later: Mint Aero. Following morning: Mint Aero. I'm glad I like mint aeros! It's the first scent I've tried that hasn't morphed on me at all. Lovely, well rounded, smooth, minty, vanilla, light and more-ish. It's another scent I'm kicking myself about only ordering 1 bottle.

    Monster Bait: Bloody Mary

In the Bottle: A little bit like cherry lifesavers. Very sweet, very fruity. Made me worry about what would happen, would it mellow like Red Queen or would it cough syrup like Jailbait. On my skin: It's a bowl of fresh strawberries/raspberries and cherries dusted in icing sugar and cream. It had me drooling as I sniffed it - I had to resist eating my arm and instead went and grabbed a bowl of strawberries to save my arm. Later...: It has settled down slightly, still very fruity, but not as sweet as before. It's now cherries and raspberries. I love this scent. I'm only kicking myself for not getting two! In general it's a scent for days when I want to feel fresh and light. (Edited to remove the site desc)

    Monster Bait: Ventriloquist Dummy

Memo to self before review starts: if the description says Patchouli run away very fast. In the bottle: Dry and woody, with a slight fruity tang. On my wrist: Mossy and dry, like a forest just as it is drying out from a heavy rainstorm. About 10 minutes later the mossy dryness has gone and the patchouli comes out and it started smelling like Tiresias on me but without the blackcurrant. 15 minutes after this the patchouli had run its course and I got the moss back, but with added nuttiness and sweetness. I don't think it's for me, the strong patchouli scent gave me a nasty headache and I'm not entirely convinced I could survive it. Still, I had to try all the Monsterbaits.

    Punkie Night

I've always loved these particular notes and I love this scent. Starts off quite strong with apples and cranberries and the smells of autumn and then quietens down to the scent of hot cranapple juice (oh cranapple! how I miss thee! I must go to the states just so I can drink of you again). Only problem with it is that I appear to have a slight allergic reaction to it if I put it on my neck. Ah well, I can just splash it everywhere else!
  23. I love and adore Freak Show and although I do currently have a bottle and a half of it, and there have been rumours of it's reappearence, I'd also vaguely like to know that there is something similar to use (or layer) as a slight substitute. Thanks in advance, and apologies if this in the wrong place.

    Van Van

Lemon. Just like I squeezed an entire lemon over my wrist, or I'd been cooking and accidentally squirted myself whilst I was juicing and not washed it off. It also stays. Stays for a long time (it was still there the following morning after I'd put it on at 4pm the day before). Not for me at all. I don't get any other smells or scents from it - the lemon just overpowers everything else.
