    Petite Planchette

Absolutely gorgeous. Sweet resins mixed with expensive wood, I totally agree that this 'glows' and it manages to be cozy and sexy at the same time. Decent wear length. I should have bought a back-up!

Dead Leaves, Violet Candy, and Sugar Crystals

On first application, this was overwhelmingly dead leaves - almost headache-inducingly strong DL with no hint of sweetness or violet. After about half an hour though, the DL had totally 'burned off', leaving pure Parma Violet - exactly what I wanted! Once it gets to the violet stage is has good throw and wear length.

    2015: Lace Phoenix

On my skin this isn't as light and sweet as the other reviews suggest. It's a beautiful incense with the tiniest touch of sugar and a definite stone/cement/architectural note. It isn't as sweet or delicate as I expected but it's very atmospheric and quite haunting, and I will enjoy using it on moody days.

    2004: Paper Phoenix

I only got into BPAL this year so I didn't get to try the original Antique Lace, though I do have a smidgen of original Dorian. When AL was re-released I excitedly bought a bottle but ended up swapping it away because I was thoroughly underwhelmed - on my skin it was no different to Burberry Brit EDT. For me Paper Phoenix elevates AL to what I was expecting it to be. The Dorian tea note is strong but it blends beautifully with the vanilla of AL, and on my skin there is just a hint of pink peppercorn and lavender to add a little bit of complexity. It lasts all day on me, and has decent throw too. In short, this is perfection. It may have even knocked Hesiod's Phoenix off the top spot in my BPAL all-time favourites list!

    Three French Hens

When I tried this fresh from the mail it was pretty much pure vetiver and really quite unpleasant, even though I tend to enjoy vetiver a lot more than some. A few days later it's settled down a bit but the vetiver is still really strong, there's definitely more than a drop in my bottle! I get the bourbon vanilla now though as well as a hint of the redcurrant, and I actually think I quite like it - it's just completely different than what I expected! I am hoping, though, that aging will bring more vanilla out, and in the meantime I'm going to try some on my husband as I think it might work well on a man.
  6. Is there anything GC or currently available that can be compared with Hesiod's Phoenix? I searched this thread and found a couple of recommendations for things that are now DC'd themselves. Any suggestions very welcome as I'm losing hope of finding any more HP!

    Solstice Swap Q&A

Amazon & Etsy wishlists are in my signature. Any Weenies you missed out on? I didn't manage to get any Weenies! I'd love to try: I Heard Many Things in Hell Groan of Mortal Terror The Dead Hour of the Night The Dreadful Silence of That Old House Stealthily, Stealthily (especially) All Souls 2017 Day of Skulls October (especially) Dead Leaves, Violet Candy and Sugar Crystals (especially) Pumpkin Spice Cathedral (yes, I really should have just put an order in) Are you Amazon & Etsy Wishlists up to date? I'll update my Amazon one with books I'd like to read, in case it makes the Story category easier - there's loads but I tend to keep them in my head (until they fall out so I never end up getting them). will do this tonight (13 November). How do you feel about animated films? I tend to really like them. LOVE Studio Ghibli stuff and that whole aesthetic. I also like French animated films like Belleville Rendezvous and The Illusionist. And I'm a general fan of Disney. Does anyone need any cosmetic or larger bags? I always need bags of all sizes! If I were to knit you something like fingerless mitts, do you like short or long over the fingers? To the wrist, mid arm, or to the elbow? Thumb or a thumb hole? Frilly or not? Preferred color? I like fingerless gloves so I can still use my phone, or those ones with a mitten flap - though I expect they're difficult to knit! I like gloves that go to the wrist, no frills just as minimal as possible, though multi-colour/variegated colour is nice. Navy, purple, orange, green are my preferred colours (preferably fairly dark as my gloves always end up getting mucky for some reason!). Is there a book you've always meant to read, but never got round to it? A Tale of Two Cities, Brighton Rock, anything by Edgar Allen Poe, anything by Jack London. If you've expressed an interest in candles, do you prefer unscented or scented and if the latter, what scents? Both! For scented, I like woodsy, smoky scents and also love lavender. My favourite candle of all time is a blackcurrant and rose blend. I really like beeswax candles too. Do you like windchimes or other similar tinkley noisemakers? I really don't like wind chimes. I'm up for any noisemakers that I can control - music boxes, for example. Do you/would you like Christmas/holiday music? If so, any particular genres or styles? I do! Jazz Christmas music might be fun, or just anything unusual - I have all the usual songs already. Do you have a Goodreads? Is it useful for my stalking purposes? I don't I'm afraid, but I'm about to update my Amazon wishlist with books so hopefully that will give a feel for what I like! Are there any holiday movies or shows you would particularly love to get your hands on? I think I've got the ones I want already Would you prefer your nourishment to be literal (i.e., actual food) or representative? Either! I like the idea of representative, but I do love food, so... In terms of actual food, are you comfortable with homebaked goodies so long as potential allergens are not involved? As long as it will survive ok in the post - absolutely! Do you have favorite holiday foodstuffs? I'm a mince pie fiend. I also love Lebkuchen and anything involving cinnamon. Are you adverse to burning things as part of your sacrifice? Not at all! I like burning things So how do you feel about teas? Would you be interested in getting some for your "nourishment" part of your gift? If so, are there particular companies you love or have always wanted to try? Special varieties you like- holiday blends, or decaf or solid standards like Earl Grey or Sencha? Love tea! Bagged or loose leaf. I don't know about brands but my favourite teas are Russian Caravan and Lapsang Souchong as I love the smokiness, but I like pretty much everything. A holiday blend sounds amazing! Any tasty decafs are welcome too - I'm avoiding caffeine after midday at the moment. And what about tea accoutrements, like rock sugar, nice honey (I have a fabulous apiary that is literally 6 blocks from my house!), a special spoon? Yes please to all three! I adore honey, especially floral honeys like Lavender - it mostly goes on my toast, but it could go in tea! Or maybe coffee is more your thing? I have access to an incredible little shop that sells some of the best bean I've ever had (let me put it this way- even when I lived in Coffee Capital SEATTLE, I had bean delivered to me from this place!). If you like coffee, what kinds? (this place does AMAZING DECAF as well as the strong stuff!). And would you want your beans whole or ground (if ground, what grind do you like?) I really like coffee, though I don't know too much about it. I drink espresso from a moka pot, and I like it strong and smooth. I have a grinder, so ground or whole is fine by me! - Scented candle lovers: do you have a favorite store/brand? My favourites happen to be prohibitively expensive unfortunately - Neom, Diptyque and Molton Brown. BUT, I love trying indie brands and would love to try some new ones. Edited to add that I do like Yankee too! Especially their baby powder, the cotton one and anything cinnamon/christmassy. Favorite/Least favorite bath products (e.g. do you like scrubs, bar soap, gel)? Favourite- bath oil/salt/bubbles, scrubs, body lotion. Least favourite- bar soap, shower gel, shampoo (I have fussy hair). - What sounds are comforting for you? Any that bring up good memories? Crickets/cicadas! And rain, thunderstorms, general rainforest sounds. I used to have an app that had all sorts of sounds, and I *loved* one that was called something like Hollywood summer nights or something. It was a combination of summer garden sounds and a distant freeway, it was perfection; but the app isn't available anymore - Would YOU like to receive a singing bowl? I would! I've recently started meditating, so I think a usable singing bowl would be great. - Would you mind receiving a pre-loved book (one in good condition)? Not at all! I actually particularly love old Penguin classics (with the coloured panel covers), but all second hand books are fine by me. - How do you feel about fruitcake, assuming that I can make it without any stated allergens? Not for me, thanks. - How about rum/whiskey/bourbon balls (these are no-cook, so the alcohol is still pretty potent)? Very much for me, thanks! - What is your favorite store-bought holiday treat? Candy canes, jelly fruits, boozy truffles.

I like them (not sure if this is a choice question or a yes/no one) - You throw caution to the wind and runaway to join a traveling circus. What job would you want ( a main performer, a side show, a behind the scenes spot, etc) and why? I think I'd want to be a clown as I'm terrified of them, it might be a sort of extreme exposure therapy. - What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with? I don't know much about mythical creatures but I always thought it would be fun to be like Puck, the sprite in Midsummer Night's Dream - mischievously meddling in other people's affairs. - Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. What do you choose? Notebook & pink gel pen, a few paints, a four-cheese pizza (probably a calzone, so it'll fit), a GPS watch, a sprig of lavender, some fancy bath oil, my kindle, some shells from my nearby beach, a ticket to my local comedy club, one of those classy little cans of gin & tonic. - Do you need storage boxes/bottles/containers? Cozy scents

(Feel free to move this onto an existing thread, I was surprised I couldn't find a suitable one!) What are your favourite scents for cozy days? Not sleep scents, to me they're a bit different (lavender, basically), but more like a wooly jumper in scent form. Mine are Hesiod's Phoenix and Morocco. I'm really hoping to hear of some that are currently available, but all coziness is welcome!

    Leather

That's a big help. That's exactly how Pleasures I is on me too, but I love leather generally so I've been hoping Nobodies would be softer - thanks!

    Leather

If I find Pleasures of the Imagination I too accurately black leather to be enjoyable (it reminds me of horse riding as a kid), will Nobodies Watching Wrestling not work for me either?

    Q&As

Sorry, I'm not really on social media so I have limited stalkability! My amazon and etsy wishlists are in my signature - please feel free to take anything on those lists as inspiration, don't feel at all restricted to them. My Steam wishlist is somewhere in the answers below if that helps too. Would you like one of the Teeturtle t-shirts? I'd only wear them for 'lounge wear', but they're cute for that - especially the Howling at the Moon glow in the dark one! The relaxed M would probably be best for me. How do you feel about indie makeup? I've never used it, but I am up for trying. I don't wear much eyeshadow but I'm a blush & highlighter addict. What are your feelings about Scooby Doo? If so, what games are you currently playing and is there any merch for that game you'd love to have? I only play games casually these days- I don't have a console or a PC, just a MacBook Pro, and I always have to quit WoW because I can't play in moderation! My main game these days is Stardew Valley, I've seen some adorable SDV merch around and would love anything to do with it! I also love the Elder Scrolls series and would be very happy with any related merch. My steam wishlist is here, it's in a random order. Is there anything you want from the trading post (or trading post etsy) that is available to order right now? (Fatherhood, Puppers, normal GC things) Definitely! I LOVE all Disney World merch! I was there in June and didn't do half as much shopping as I wanted... I'm an uber beginner so very up for books about anything - and I only have digital tarot so a real pack would be lovely. World my Witchee be interested in a Tarot or Astrology reading done personally? I would love either! It seems like there's a question about socks on the questionnaire, but I don't think it got down to this level: Do you wear them? Also, anything from the Star Watcher section of the site - I started a wishlist but it was basically just that whole section, especially the glow in the dark calendar! Do you have something you wish you put on your original questionnaire/forgot to put/would like to add on to? I don't think I mentioned that I love maps. Old maps, fictional maps, maps on prints, tea cloths, clothes, jewellery, anything! And I might not have mentioned how much I love baths - baths for me usually last about an hour (it may be a reason I still haven't decided whether I want kids, can't bear the thought of disrupted bathtime...) and I love all bubbles, oils, fizzes, anything to go in a bath! If you could decorate your house (or one room) in any one theme, what would it be? Your answer can be as simple ("Star Wars" or "Baroque" or "Modern"), or complicated or a combination (e.g. Victorian Gothic) as you feel best fits. I'd love a night sky themed room, with tiny spotlights all over the ceiling for stars. Aprons: Do you wear them, do you want one? Utility, decorative, cooking or crafting? I do, and I would! It would be for cooking. Do you like Broadway shows/music? If so what are some of your favorites and/or ones that you hope to see or listen to eventually? Would you like merch from your favorite shows or CDs from shows you want to listen to? I want to see Hamilton and Book of Mormon, I'm not sure what merch there is for those, tjough I'm heading to NYCC in October! Is there anything I can get my Witchee while I'm through Mannahatta or Broadway would be amazing! I'm going to Edmonton Expo this weekend (It's Edmonton's version of comic con). Would a witchee like anything from there? I can't think of anything in particular Anything catch your eye from this site (globalgirlfriend.com)? The animal treasure boxes are adorable! And the greetings cards are really nice too. Do you have any favorite, lesser-known stores? Especially ones that sell hand-crafted or independently made items. I've loved hannahzakari.co.uk for years (and currently covet the Relatively Stable pin). And copying off another witch's answer, I'd now love to try http://www.devonshireorganics.com incense - I really want my house to smell like the Vatican! Imagine you're going to the most gigantic art & craft show imaginable, and money is no object - what kind of things would you gravitate towards and probably spend money on? Include as specific as you want to get! I would buy a big canvas original painting with either a cityscape, a map, or the night sky on it (or one of each), something from offermanwoodshop.com (the man himself would be at the biggest craft show imaginable, I assume!), a handmade ring with a big old natural sapphire, and an unusual pendant. Would my witchee like this to warm up the fall coffee cup?? https://www.truelemo...gory-s/1871.htm Sounds delicious! do you like to take baths? if so, do you like oils, salts, things that fizz, all of the above, none of the above? I think I mentioned above that I take a lot of baths - I love all of the above! Anything that smells good. What style/make/etc of phone do you have? What about size of tablet? Laptop? Would you like decals, skins, or cases for any of these? I have an iPhone SE and a 13" Macbook Pro. I'd really like a laptop case as it's getting scruffy, and I change my phone case often so I'm always up for a new one. I don't have a tablet, but I do have a kindle paperwhite. --Something I would love, is some cool new wallpapers for my macbook - I like space, landscape & arty wallpapers Are you interested in anything from Bath & Bodyworks? Which products and scents do you like? www.bathandbodyworks.com/ We don't have this in the UK and I've always ignored it because I assumed the scents would be overly sweet and fruity. It looks like I'm totally wrong! The following scents sound great to me, in candles, bath stuff or body lotion/oil: Lavender & Cedarwood Eucalyptus & Spearmint Leaves Marshmallow Fireside Sweater Weather Flannel Lavender Birch & argan body oil Rose water body oil I am possibly going to a crystal / gem show tomorrow. I can't afford expensive gem stones, but... What kind of crystals would you like? Whatever looks good! I don't know much about crystals Pumpkin or Zucchini bread? Not for me, I'm a bit weird when it comes to bread (has to be eaten on the day it's baked, or frozen then grilled when needed) What kind of homemade cookies are your favorite? white chocolate and/or honey! Could you use a muscle rub? (We make ours on the lunar cycle and it has menthol, wintergreen, habanero, cayenne, olive oil, st. john's wort, arnica, beeswax, calendula, and ginger. It tingles. We call it "Thunder Butter". If you have really really super sensitive skin, I would recommend against it. And don't take a hot shower or open all of your pores before using it.) That sounds heavenly divine - I love muscle rubs and need them too! Interested in trying some of our rose petal (rose petals, sugar, everclear) or lavender vanilla bean (lavender, vanilla bean, vodka) liqueur? I am beyond interested and am desperate to try both! Lavender liqueur, oh my goodness. Want some honey from the bees on our property? Absolutely! Would you like some homemade jam? I have blackberry, rose petal, strawberry rhubarb, peach, and cherry. If it travels in the post ok, definitely! Rose petals would be amazing, and cherry & strawberry are always great How about some homemade candied jalapenos with garlic cloves? I have regular and with habanero. Ooh, yes I didn't dry any apples this year but I was thinking of heading over to Green Bluff and seeing if any honeycrisps are left. I have a commercial dehydrator so let me know if you are interested in any "Apple Crips" (as voodoocatwoman calls them!) I wash, peel, core, and slice before dehydrating. They sound nice! Do you need any kind of dice bag, tote, project bag, cosmetic bag, pencil bag, or whatever? I have lots of bag patterns and fabric. We make bags under the name Twinkle N Twilight. Or how about a couple of pillowcases? I can't have enough totes or pencil cases so either of those would be very much appreciated do you collect the art cards that BPAL sends out? Any in particular that you are looking for or definitely don't need? I haven't figured out what do with them yet but I like them a lot and would like more! No particular hankering, but I do love hhe Carnaval Diaboliques. Do you like this beautiful art, and she makes stickers and prints...SOOOO gorgeous: https://www.shannatr...om/paperprints/ They're lovely! I particularly like In the Land of the Hanging Heart Cages. Favorite animals or wild creatures or mythological creatures? Foxes! It's pretty much guaranteed that I'll love anything fox-related. Jack Russells, greyhounds & whippets, tuxedo cats, bears, goats, sharks, capybaras. I don't think there are any mythological creatures I particularly love. would you like any swag from the Depeche Mode concert? (pins, posters, shirts, program, dunno what they'll have!) No thanks, I think I only know one of their songs *blush* Is anyone interested in the new Resistance scents that the Lab just released (Take a Knee and SN: Flor de Maga)? Yes! Either. Take a Knee doesn't appeal to me as a scent as apple pie can go very wonky on me (though I love grass/earth notes) but I very much support the cause so I'd love a bottle anyway. Is anyone here into zero waste, plastic free living, urban homesteading, or any simplicity/minimalism-esque lifestyles? If so, could you use any tools or equipment? My life is both complicated and plasticky, unfortunately, so I wouldn't use anything in this area. Would anyone be interested in having any of Abigail Larson's artwork (either as a print or on something, like a pillow, blanket, or t-shirt)? https://society6.com/abigaillarson Yes, they're lovely! Would you be into receiving hand made (crocheted, sewn, felted, chain maille, scale, or duct tape, in my case, depending on the item) dishclothes? Scarf/shawl? Hat? Bag? Anything? Colors? (Duct tape, chain maille, and scales come in colors.) I'd love any of those things except a hat. Any autumnal colours would be grand. Do you collect anything from SBUX like City Mugs, City Mug ornaments, City Cards, or Bearistas? If so, which do you need/want? Or would you like a City Mug or an ornament for fun? I don't collect any Starbucks stuff, but I've had my eye on heir flasks for a while - last time I was in there was a very tempting glittery gold one. Bearistas sound adorable. anybody want homemade fudge? I can do chocolate with or without nuts, peanut butter, and butterscotch. As long is it will survive the journey - I love fudge! Chocolate or butterscotch would be amazing. do you like spicy foods? I'll only be getting them myself if weenies hang around until November (this is my first year of being into bpal so I'm not sure), as October is taken up with SW and fun car stuff. Witchees, do you want anything specifically from this page? Mitts, hat, shawls, unicorn... http://iceweasel.net/switchwitch/ The jacinto mitts and the unicorns! What are your top three most wanted DC'd or previous LE BPALs? The Governess, Vial of Holy Water and a back-up bottle of my beloved Hesiod's Phoenix What are some things you do NOT want to receive? I'd be happy with either of those on anything Claire's has some super cute Halloween stuff. In the style of Haunted Mansion - black lace collars, lace and sparkle masques and the like. A few items in Dias de los Muertos style. Would you be interested in such things? No thank you Would you be interested in anything from Orange Thyme? https://shoporangethyme.com/ If so, which products/scents/flavors? Ooh, Rosemary Mint body butter. And the orange clove lip balm sounds nice too! How do you feel about these little guys? I think they're adorable and kind of want them all, but especially the ghost and pirate ones. https://lovemomiji.c...imited-editions I love Golden Treeson! Would you like anything from the Haus of Gloi Fall Part II update? https://www.hausofgl...ween-scent-list: I've never tried Haus of Gloi before but I like the sound of Blood Orange Marshmallow, The Horseman, Grimoire, Spider's Silk & Hex in whipped soap or bathing dust. Awesome farmer's market by my house. They have a local honey stand (which also sells things made from local honey like Propolis tincture!); there's a small apothecary and she additionally makes soaps and hand-made, hand-poured scented candles; plus a guy that makes an array of BBQ and Hot Sauces. Does ny of this appeal? Would you like anything from my local farmer's market? I love honey and things made from it, love hot sauce, love scented candles, so any of that would be great! Smolder Cosmetics. Do any of their products (glitter, eye dusts etc) appeal to you? https://smoldercosmetics.com I don't think so. I'm always tempted by matte lipstick but I tend to find it uncomfortable. Anything from Strobe Cosmetics (http://strobecosmetics.com)? The eyeshadows look nice but I'm only drawn to the boring shades so it's probably not worth it for me. How would you feel about getting Hello Kitty stuff? I'm fine with HK, not a particular fan but I like anything cute! Would you like to get some favorite recipes? I love recipes, so yes please! Would you like anything from my shop? https://www.etsy.com/shop/LisaNut I can't see anything in there for me at the moment. Witchee, would you like anything from the Trading Post Halloween update? https://blackphoenix...y/weenies-2017/: I would love: Abandoned Theatre atmosphere spray Autumn Cider Hair Gloss I Foamed! Sleepytime BPAL

It's not valerian, but have you tried Anesthesia? It's lavender & peppermint so it's got a couple of the same ingredients as your pillow mist. I haven't tried Lurid but I have tried TKO and the lavender in Anesthesia is very different - TKO goes very wonky on me but Anesthesia smells like proper French purple lavender. For me it's the perfect sleep scent. Otherwise, as annemathematics says TAL have a couple of sleep scents. I can't smell the lavender in Nocturne because I amp some other note in it, but it definitely works for getting me to sleep.
  15. KatyC

    Nocturne

Unfortunately I don't get any of the notes mentioned in previous reviews from my bottle of Nocturne. No lavender, no rose, maybe just the slightest hint of jasmine. I get a strong, sharp citrus, a bit like those mosquito repellant candles. I do amp lemon terribly, so there must just be a small amount in it and my skin is ignoring every other note. So, to me it doesn't smell great. BUT. I've been suffering a bout of insomnia after coming off some medication that had amazing sleep as a side-effect. I'd been getting at most a couple of hours sleep a night, and when I did sleep I had extremely vivid, violent, creepy nightmares. But this is proving so effective, for the past 3 nights I've fallen asleep within half an hour and actually stayed asleep until morning. The nightmares have gone, replaced by my usual odd but not unsettling dreams It's totally different from my usual sleep scent, Anesthesia, in that the actual smell doesn't comfort me, but something about it just plain works. I'm so glad I've got a bottle!

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I love lavender too, and my favourites are Anesthesia (lavender & peppermint) and Mummeries & Other Straining to be Remembered Passages (Lavender, Blackberry, Bergamot & Rosemary). For me Anesthesia is the ultimate lavender sleep scent, and it's the most typical/French lavender bpal scent I've tried. If you like Gobo you could also try Bones of Capys (king mandarin, tobacco, sandalwood & chamomile). It has some creaminess to it but on my skin it's definitely a 'grown up', quite unisex orange scent.

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

Can anyone recommend any scents involving sugary violets other than Faith (which I keep meaning to buy and forget every time I make an order!) I used to think I liked violet in general but I'm starting to realise that what I actually like is those Parma Violet sweets, so anything along those lines would be great

    Recs for the prettiest scents

My favourite 'pretty' scent is Die Begierde - despite the (gorgeous but boozy) cognac note it's still a lovely, sugary sweet pink rose. It's got amazing lasting power too, when my skin normally eats sweet scents in minutes!
  19. KatyC

    The Best Lies

On my skin the rose in this scent is very subtle, in the background far behind the sugar and honey. When first applied I get a disappointing play-doh note , but thankfully this calms down after 30 mins or so. It has surprisingly good wear length for a sweet scent, medium throw. I like this, but I don't love it -there's not quite enough rose for this flower-addict. It is really pretty though, and I'd definitely recommend it for people who are only so-so about roses.

    For the Joy of It

American Gods is full of really great phrases, and 'for the joy of it' is one of my favourites so I had to get this! Wet: Sweet, heady and boozy. Fun, but not wearable for me. Dry: I almost washed it off at the wet stage but I'm glad I persisted. After 30mins or so it developed into a handsome cologne combined with a touch of cinder toffee. Medium throw and wear length, and I couldn't stop sniffing my arm for the duration. I'm not sure I'd get a bottle of this because of the sickly wet stage, but I'll definitely get through my decant.

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Thank you both! I've bought an imp of Penny Dreadful, and I've blind bottled Rakshasa and Witch Queen because they sound so lovely.
  22. KatyC

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

I'm looking for a last bottle to add to an order, so I'll give any recommendation I get from this a try! In no particular order, my top 5 are: - Anesthesia - Flickering Lantern / The Light of Men's Lives (cheating a bit, but they smell almost identical on me) - Bones of Capys - Zombi - Liz

    International Shipping Info+Questions

More of a rant than a question... I just received a package from BPAL and customs had torn it to pieces! Fair enough that the outer packet had to be torn open and taped back up, but the inner box was also torn open and left that way, and all the bottles had been taken out of their bubble wrap so they were just rattling around. The outer packet is really filthy too, for some reason! Obviously I'm glad not to be charged VAT after all of that, but even so it's pretty annoying they couldn't make sure glass bottles are secure after checking them
  24. KatyC

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Is there anything like 4711 cologne, or Tom Ford Neroli Portofino? These smell identical on my skin, so I can't see the point in spending TF money but 4711 has no longevity. I think the key notes in both are neroli and bergamot, but the end result is a unisex, bordering on masculine, cologne with a slightly medicinal edge (to be honest, they both smell exactly like Savlon antiseptic cream to me - I just happen to love the smell of Savlon!).
  25. it really isn't orangey at all; it's orange blossomy. i find it very similar to the recent (and probably not hard to find) LE Swift as Light, Beauteous in Color, Charming in Song - which i like more than Comedy Queen. Like the Flashing of Light is also in a very similar vein (same collection as Swift as Light), and has both neroli and king mandarin in it, so you might like that even more. Ooh, thanks very much for this you two, you've killed a frustrating craving! I have Swift as Light and I'm not too fond of it, don't think it works very well on my skin, and I didn't expect it to smell similar from the (limited) reviews. I already have Womb Furie, so I'll probably just keep an eye out for Entertaining the Heian Court Maiden and forget about paying silly money for CQ!
