  1. i ordered this solely because i loved the art and i was so so pleasantly surprised. in the bottle i think it smells like really good soap. on me it is a sweet, creamy floral. it doesn't have very much throw but it lasts on me for quite a while! it is a soft scent that wears close to the skin, like i've just taken a bubble bath in something quite lovely and laid down languidly upon clean fresh sheets, although that's somewhat misleading as it is clean but not actually soapy. it's sweet and flowery without being cloying and creamy without going sour on me. i don't even like florals and i love this.

  2. For Christmas this year I received a tiny bottle of Lola Fragrance Oil. The blend is described as such:

"A long-lasting blend of essential oils with top notes of Bergamot, Currant and Mandarin, middle notes of Jasmine, Iris and Nutmeg, Lola is undeniably seductive and ultra-feminine. Patchouli, Oak Moss and Musk ensure that you'll leave behind a little Lola and a whole lot of sex appeal everywhere you go. Unique, floating Brassia Seeds enhance the aphrodisiac qualities of this exotic blend."

I basically can't pick out any individual notes- it is not citrusy or floral and the patchouli blends in so well that it works with my chemistry for once. It's a very musky, sexy blend and it smells amazing on me, and basically Lola Cosmetics stopped making it and I can't find it for sale anywhere (except one place in Australia that won't ship to me). Can you guys help me find some BPAL that might smell similar?

  3. this is amazing. it was a frimp from the lab, a scent i never would have chosen for myself. when i first sniffed it i thought it must be a winey sort of scent; i didn't suspect rose and lotus could be responsible for that sticky, juicy, almost fruity goodness. this is, i believe, my first experience with bpal lotus and i am not disappointed. it's like a floral liqueur and i can DEFINITELY see a big bottle of this in my future.

  4. this is my second of the zorya, and i now believe that we just don't get along. upon application i smell mint, leaves and sandalwood, just like i'm supposed to. maybe a bit of rose. it's all fine and dandy but not something i want to smell like. to the swap pile!

  5. wood with berry notes. something fresh and green. it's complex and has a lot of depth and it makes me feel like i am in a forest, but not a dark scary pine forest, more like a sunny cartoon fairy tale glade. this is perhaps not an ideal perfume for me, but if you have always wanted to smell like a shrub, look no further.

  6. the first thing i noticed about cairo was its lovely saffron yellow color. the second thing i noticed, after application, was that it smelled like lemon fresh pine-sol and smoke. it does not morph and i cannot pick out individual notes... this is like super-blended. notttt for me.

  7. my skin's only goal in life is to amp almond to an insane extent and when i first put eclipse on that's all i get. i noticed a lot of people seem to get a chemical scent from this and sure enough if i give it a few minutes it's dry, toasty almonds on top of nail polish remover and then the frankincense comes out and to be honest it's all downhill from there.

  8. i think i am weird because when this stuff first touches my skin it smells just like rose red. that crisp, wet, slightly sour super fresh heavy blossom dripping with dew rose scent. ulalume morphs on me like crazy- the rosey scent dissipates and leaves behind a pleasant aquatic scent. after that it becomes a light floral with a dark, woody background and as it dries its all wood and leaves overlaid with a gentle, sweet floral. i'm not a fan of florals but this i think i can do.

  9. i think i would love les bijoux if it weren't for the frankincense and myrrh; those two scents tickle my nose and tend to go all funny on me. at first this has a weird savory kind feel to it which i do not understand at all. once it dries it is an interesting rose-apple blend with a little bit of orange blossom. i wish i got more honey out of it. it's a nice smell, but it just doesn't work for me.

  10. Blood is what I wanted regular bpal Dragon's Blood to smell like. It is rich, resiny, sensual and sweet. The clove and myrrh add a great depth to the dragon's blood and make it really quite delicious. I can't wear myrrh if it's one of the main features in a blend, but here it is just marvelous. It's strong, too, and seems to have great throw. Later the clove comes out in full force and it's even spicier and more delicious. I can't wait to wear this on a cold day.

  11. thunder moon arrived, appropriately enough, in the middle of a storm.

straight out of the bottle it is really soapy and clean. my dad likes it immediately, so this is a bad sign. after a minute or two the soapiness dissipates and i get this marvelous, toasty, grassy sweet scorched woody scent. i get NO amber, which is too bad because i love amber. nonetheless, at this freshly dried stage it is quite nice. then, however, tragedy strikes. about half an hour later, here comes the ozone again. ecchhh. no good. this makes me smell like i showered with generic men's body wash and then spritzed a lot of bod or axe on top of it!

  12. My mom really likes this Celine Dion perfume; she doesn't really wear perfume very often but when she does, it's Celine Dion, all the way. There are two that she likes- the plain self-titled kind and another kind called "Notes" (which made it really difficult for me when I was trying to do a search to find out what fragrance notes are in each perfume!)... here are the descriptions:

    Celine Dion:

An elegant bottle, faceted with five points, holds the lyrical essence of light luscious florals including water lily, orange blossom and exotic Tiare flower. Balanced with warm, rich amber, sheer musk and pristine blonde woods, the result is a scent that is perfect for everyday use, yet still sophisticated enough for special occasions.

    Notes:

Parfum Notes is a rich and sensual new interpretation of the original fragrance. It is an intimate mingling of florals, musk and woods -- peony and vetiver, mimosa, sandalwood, Amazon orchid and white musk. A captivating romantic floral fragrance, Celine Dion Parfum Notes is the perfect accompaniment to the original fragrance.

So it seems she likes light florals and musks- right? Almost none of my BPAL is in any way up her alley because I like darker scents that are resiny and incensey or boozey. I'll occasionally wear rose or peony but that's about it in the way of florals. She hated Love in the Asylum, liked Peony Moon and liked Ephemera well enough as well, but I can't think of what else I can put on her that she might like. Suggestions?

  13. oh my god this is good. i don't even like foody scents, but this is just delicious- it's like buttery vanilla cake covered in creamy frosting topped with juicy berries. mmmm. it is such a rich, buttery vanilla. i want to eat my arm.

  14. i have a lot of trouble picking out individual notes here. i get the rose, a little vanilla and what i figure is tonka. this is somehow more traditionally perfumey than the types of blends i typically wear, but that's not a bad thing. i actually really, really like this. the rose dominates, but the vanilla is sweet and it is overall a very clean, elegant perfume.

  15. bpal dragon's blood does not smell like i expected it to; it doesn't smell anything like any of the dragon's blood incense i've had, which is stronger, deeper, more resiny... this is a lighter, sweeter smell. at first it is a bit like floral soap and then it goes a bit incensey, still strongly floral. apparently dragon's blood itself does not work on me, but most of the blends that contain it (all of the ars draconic blends that i've tried, anyway) do.

  16. creamy, gentle and cool. this is very faintly sweet and really soothing... the coconut meat is SO good. i want to make this into a body lotion. mmm, i need a big bottle now.

  17. last christmas i got a little bottle of lola fragrance oil for christmas... i fell in LOVE with it; i have never had a perfume that smelled quite as good on me. it was amazing. no one seems to sell it any more; i think they stopped making it and i am just about all out. :P

Can anyone recommend any BPAL that might come close to this? I tried Swadhisthana (Vanilla, nutmeg, orris root, gardenia, damiana, jasmine, patchouli, ylang, tangerine, bergamot, sandalwood, oakmoss) but it's too sweet or something; juust not right.

  18. i vaguely smell the heliotrope, but the orange blossom (more blossom than orange) and lemon verbena take over. it smelled good at first but after a while, lolita began to remind me of kitchen cleaner or wood polish or something like that. ecchh.
