    12 Days of Christmas

Are you coveting anything currently available from Haus of Gloi? Yes! I like HoG scrubs, whipped soap, pumpkin butter, etc. From the Yule update, I pretty much like the sound of all the scents except for Rosy Cheeked (citrus is not my thing). Eggnoggin, His Sweater, and Winter Divinity sound especially good. Are you coveting anything from the Paintbox Soapworks update that just happened? Taking a quick look now! Winter Stories, White Winter Hymnal and White Snow, Bright Snow all sound good. I like their scrubs and lotions. Are you coveting anything from Cocoa Pink? I have never bought from this company so not particularly, but I am open to trying anything you think I might like! How do you feel about pomanders? I don't know what I would do with one! What do you do with them? How do you feel about savor soaps? I'm not familiar with them but again, open to trying it! Or Perfectly Posh? See above! Do you have feelings about fruitcake? We're talking whiskey soaked homemade fruitcake, not a brick in a festive tin. I recently tried making my own ~*fancy*~ fruitcake for Christmas and I thought it was really good! So what I learned from this is that whiskey soaked homemade fruitcake is awesome, and the cheapo storebought kind is not. Tl;dr I am a fruitcake snob. So I would love to try your homemade fruitcake! Any strong nail polish and/or makeup preferences? I don't wear a ton of makeup, and I am kind of picky about it. My eyeshadow is always the same (one of the various Midnight Cowboy incarnations from Urban Decay) and I usually just wear whatever mascara I got in my latest ipsy bag. (They always seem to send me mascara!) I wear bare minerals foundation and usually blush. I DO love to try new lip products- this is the one area where I am very open to experimentation. I usually wear red lipstick and am always looking for the perfect shade. I am way less picky about nail polish and will basically wear whatever! I like almost all bright or dark colors and am open to crazy glitters or holos or whatever. Favorite animals? PUGS! I am obsessed. Also manatees, koalas, pandas, penguins, and sloths. I also like basically all sea creatures, especially cephalopods! Oh and owls and flamingos! And alpacas! I really love animals, haha. Do you have a strong preference for consumables (soaps, candles, food, etc.) over other stuff? I don't have a strong preference one way or the other! Would you be interested in Colorpop? I don't know what that is! Hang on. Ok, no thanks! Would you like any holiday music? if so, do you prefer a CD or MP3? No thanks! Do you like toffee or fudge? Fudge yes! No nuts please. I am not super into toffee. How do you feel about amigurumi (little crochet stuffies...animals, characters, ornaments, etc.)? Yess they are so cute and I love them! I wish I could make them. If I were to crochet you something wearable, do you have any preferences? Do you like hats, scarves, gloves, other? And would you prefer something fun and whimsical (e.g. fox face hat or owl mittens), something delicate and pretty (e.g. lacy wraps or scalloped boot cuffs), or just something like a basic, no frills beanie or cowl? Do you have a Ravelry account and a list of favorite patterns? Whimsical is my favorite! I would love a scarf! What kind of hot drinks do you like, and if tea or coffee or cocoa or cider or alcohol, give specifics? All of the above? I like tea, especially stronger black teas (various earl grey types, lapsang souchong, also some on the sweeter side) and savory-ish green teas (like genmaicha) but I also really like floral teas (jasmine, rose, etc.) I love hot cocoa and cider. I love coffee but don't have strong preferences as I am just starting to learn what I like. I don't like flavored coffee. I prefer whole leaf tea and whole bean coffee. What kind of candles do you like, scent, etc? Vanilla, vanilla peppermint for the holidays, smoky, pine/evergreen, resins, spice, apple, etc. I am open to foodie scents for candles, whereas I don't usually like them for personal wear. Mixes or seasonings for the kitchen? Spices would be food! What is something new in your life that you wish you had more "things" for? Hmm I can't think of anything off the top of my head. We do a lot of baking and holiday good ridiculousness around here...house specialties include lebkuchen (flourless, they're mostly nuts, spices, candied fruit), marzipan, butter caramels (flavored or plain), shortbread crisps, and savory cheese shortbread. Any of these sound appealing? Savory shortbread sounds amazing! I have never had marzipan. Caramels sound good, too! I like a lot of baked goods, just nothing with nuts! (I'm not allergic or anything- I just do not like the texture.) What are your top places to get a gift card from? Probably BPAL, to be honest! I get a lot of use out of Starbucks cards, too. Which holiday symbols/themes do you like the best (or least)? Such as Santas, snowflakes, reindeer, etc. I like reindeer (or regular deer) and snowmen! Do you like puzzles? Yes!

What treats or toys do they like? My kitties are picky and mostly not interested in treats, although they both love catnip. My pug LOVES stuffed squeaky toys (he will only play with soft toys- nothing rubber or plastic). He loves treats (being a pug) but they have to be grain-free and he can't eat pork. Is there any interest in any of the fragrance oils from the Nocturne Alchemy Weenies update? Nope Is there anything you want from the trading post (or trading post etsy) that is available to order right now? For those who watch certain movies every year for Halloween, what are those movies, whether horror or not? Any favorite horror movies that aren't necessarily on the annual-viewing list? How do you feel about fan-made merch for these movies? This year, I am actually planning to celebrate the whole season by watching a new-to-me horror movie (mostly- other seasonally appropriate stuff can make the list, too) every day of October. Recommendations are welcome! Otherwise, Nightmare Before Christmas is my traditional Halloween movie (I love Christmas too and basically start getting ready for it the day after Halloween- sorry, Thanksgiving- so it provides a nice segue, haha). Last year I watched Trick R Treat for the first time and loved it and I feel like that is now mandatory Halloween viewing. Also Hocus Pocus is a totally nostalgic classic for me- I used to watch it every Halloween as a kid! Any kind of merch is great, too! 9/12/17 Here's a great local soapmaker I love--y'all see anything you would like? https://littleseedfarm.com/ I would definitely try the soap! I am a fidgety person but I have played with a fidget spinner and it did absolutely nothing for me. I do like having silly little toys and stuff on my desk, though! Any zentangle lovers, people who would like to try it, or would you want a piece of someone else's zentangle art? I have no idea what that is... Any love of hair toys, clips, ribbons, fascinators, mini hats, etc? No, I don't really wear anything in or do anything to my hair (besides dye it). What local goodies may be of interest? Do you prefer reading on Kindle or actual book? What kind of books do you like? Would you like to be surprised with a scary, classic, horror book? I use my kindle a lot but I also like buying and receiving physical books. I read mostly fantasy, horror and historical fiction. Candles, Incense, or wax tarts? Do you have favorite brands or Weenies scents for the home? Would you like to receive a wax tarts burner, incense burner, essential oils diffuser, or Halloweenie themed candle holders? I love incense and candles. Halloween candle holders sound cute! I just bought some cute black cat tealight holders at Target. I wouldn't use a wax burner and I already have incense burners and a diffuser that I am really happy with. Witchee: are you interested in crafting materials? I am not super crafty, but if you found a super cute cross stitch pattern or something, that would be great! 9/11/17 I'm in Japan, is there anything specific from here you would want? Nothing too specific comes to mind, but I love Japanese candy and snacks! I also collect a lot of Sanrio and San-x so I would love random cute kawaii stuff. (Especially Gudetama and Sumikko Gurashi!) How do you feel about nail wraps? I don't think I would use them. if you were to receive something hand knit, what type of item would you like? hat, cowl, handwarmers, etc. and what color(s)? - would you use knitted washcloths? a scarf? Are you allergic or sensitive to any fibers? No fiber allergies that I know of! I am mystified by knitting and would be impressed and amazed by anything you could create for me. I would probably get the most use out of a scarf (in bright colors! or slytherin colors!) or gloves. Do you like and/or want anything from Elements and Artifacts? You can be vague like "yes" or "no" or name specific past pieces you coveted or current ones you love, whatever works best. I think I have one or two things from there on my Etsy wishlist. Would you like something hand sewn by your Witch? A dress, shirt, skirt, infinity scarf, something else? That would be awesome! I am not sure of my measurements though. Anyone want any kind of costuming accessories or makeup or odds and ends? no thank you. 9/10/17 Are there any hobbies or crafts you've been thinking of trying, but haven't had the chance yet? Nothing particular comes to mind... Would you want to receive a custom spell kit or magical tea? If so, for what purpose would you want it to be made? Sure, why not? I could use something that would help me to stay focused and achieve my goals. Do you like poetry? I'm not really into it but if there is something you really think I would like, go ahead! Anyone like handmade critters, stuffed animals, or custom repaints? I LOVE stuffed animals!!! Would you enjoy any designer/specialty yarn for your own craftyness? No thank you; I am not a crafty person, sadly. Would anyone like a donation made in their name to a cause or charity? That is a nice idea Please provide wishes from the last two updates? The Drunk Astronomers, Little Photojournalist 9/9/17 Would you be interested in things from Future Primitive? (http://futureprimitivesoap.co.uk/) This thread is introducing me to too many new companies. A lot of their autumn collection sounds awesome! I would be interested in the scrubs, whipped soap, regular soap, and body whip! Are there any UK things you'd like to get? I can’t think of anything specific, but I always love trying snacks and candies from other countries! Are you into podcasts? If so, what are your favorites? Would you like any merch related to any of them? I listen to a TON of podcasts, mostly true crime. My absolute favorite is My Favorite Murder and I would definitely be happy with some merch! Would you like something from Nui Cobalt Designs (https://nuicobaltdesigns.com/)? No thank you! Or maybe some of Christina's lovely Halloween candles at Sihaya & Co. (https://www.sihayaan...lection-candles)? Any of these candles sound nice. Also I had never heard of this company before and now I want to order their seasonal box, so thanks for that. ILNP? Who would love one of their awesome holos like MEGA or one of their amazing chromes? http://www.ilnp.com/ I love how crazy sparkly these are! Charmed looks particularly amazing to me. Then I looked up MEGA and omg! I would definitely wear one of these. 9/8/17 Do you enjoy stationery? I'm thinking cute/quality notebooks, washi tape, stickers, fun pens etc. I always like cute stationery- notebooks, stickers, pens, #2 pencils (I am taking a big scary test in a couple of months!). Are you interested in anything from Cocoa Pink? - Or Haus of Gloi? I’m already a fan of Haus of Gloi (I like their scrubs and whipped soaps), but I have never tried Cocoa Pink! I am always interested in trying new b&b companies, though! Would you be interested in a Halloween wreath? Yes, I would definitely display something like that! Have you seen this: https://www.bustle.c...llection-80733? (Lush Halloween collection.) And what would you like? Unfortunately EVERYTHING that looks good to me on that list is tub-only! The next house we buy NEEDS to have an awesome bathtub, seriously. Are you interested in anything from the Moonalisa Halloween update? I have never tried Moonalisa so I don’t really know anything about them, but I will check it out! All Hallow’s Eve, Bayou Mist, Blue Aspic, Bonfire, Conjuring Room, Dusty Attic, Gilded Bat, Haunted Home, Rumpkin, Sleepy Hallow and Sweetgrass and Smoke all sound good. What are your coffee and/or tea preferences? - Coffee: whole beans or ground? - Flavor and roast preferences? I love coffee and prefer whole bean. I am open to any roast really! I tend to not like flavored coffee but make an exception at this time of year for pumpkin spice! - Tea: black, green, herbal, flavors? - Loose leaf or tea bags? I like strong black teas and sort of savory green tea like genmaicha. I prefer loose leaf! - Anything specific you don't like? Not really? I guess just strong artificial flavor type coffees. - Are you in need of any gadgetry? I am mostly set in this department, although I always like new coffee mugs. I also have been looking for something that will keep my coffee warm in the morning after I make it (I use a chemex- or sometimes a french press- and within like 15 minutes the coffee left in it after I have my first mug is too cold for me to drink!). I bought a lid thing for the chemex but it does not really seem to help. 9/6/17 How would you feel about receiving a hand-painted container for your bpal and/or other treasures? - would you want a big wood box (~50 bottles), a small wood box (~20 bottles) or a tin for carrying imps around? I just got an antique card catalog which fits my bpal collection *perfectly* and I am really happy with that! I could use something small for bringing perfume with me when I travel, though! Who is into K-Beauty (Korean beauty products like sheet masks) I have tried a few things and would definitely be interested in trying more! What are some NEW things you've gotten interested in this year? Could be anything, from a new hobby, new genre of book, new healthy way of living, new fav brand of whatever... I started eating low carb a few months ago (we started out doing keto, but it was difficult for me because I don’t eat meat, so I started upping my daily carb count and I am still seeing progress so I plan to continue this way for a while). I try to stay flexible and plan regular cheat days for my own sanity, so don’t worry about sending me anything carby, haha. 9/5/17 What are your feelings about Scooby Doo? Not a fan How do you feel about indie makeup (read: loose eyeshadow, blush, highlighter)? I am pretty happy with most of my existing makeup and find that I just end up making a mess with loose eyeshadow and stuff, haha. I am always looking for the perfect red lipstick, though, so that is something I would be interested in! I drink this stuff almost everyday would anyone else be interested in trying it out? https://www.criobru.com/ This sounds really good! I would definitely be interested. 9/4/17 Would you like one of the Halloween Teeturtle shirts? No thanks; I never wear t-shirts.

    Cuélebre

Cuelebre is mostly tart, juicy pomegranate on me, with leather and a tiny bit of myrrh taking it out of super fruity territory. It is really well-blended and if I did not already know, it would be hard for me to name the individual notes here. It is a really delicious scent- one of those bpals that has me constantly sniffing my arm because it just smells so good!
  4. porcelina

    Noctule Bat

Noctule Bat is basically ALLLL vetiver, and the strongest, smokiest, most creepily meat-like vetiver, at that. I don't really get anything else out of the bottle! I'm sad because I liked the sound of this but it is just not wearable for me.
  5. porcelina

    Ü Mütter Museum

I was so happy to be able to pick this one up at the amazing Mütter Museum! After 6 years of aging, Ü has smoothed out to a lush blend of woods and leather which is delicious but difficult to describe. It really evokes images of old libraries and museums. I agree that there is something almost vanillic about it. Totally wearable as is, but this would also be amazing layered with some sort of musk!
  6. porcelina

    La Mano Del Destino

La Mano del Destino is mostly super strong, dirty patchouli. I smell what I think of as a black leather note in the background, with the barest touch of cinnamon (it doesn't make my skin burn, either, so I don't think there is a ton in here). I get no cocoa whatsoever, which is too bad, really. I love heavy patchouli blends so this is for sure something I could see myself wearing, although it doesn't exactly stand out among all the bottles I own.
  7. porcelina

    Little Maggie

The cacao in Little Maggie dominates like crazy! It has a very rich chocolate scent and you can see the cacao in the bottle like you can in Boomslang, etc. When I saw Cocoa Puffs referenced in Little Bird's post, I laughed because it is really accurate! The little bit of honey and mallow flower sweeten and fluff the chocolate up to a sweet, toasty scent, with patchouli in the background to ground it. This is a surprising and totally wearable gourmand that stays close to the skin.
  8. porcelina

    Blood & Champagne

I love bpal's champagne note in general, and Blood & Champagne might be my favorite example of it. With age, the fizziness has died down somewhat but the scent is still reminiscent of cola. The dragon's blood note here is beautifully sweet with hints of spice. It is a really wearable, delicious scent and I might me starting to regret listing my second bottle for sale.
  9. porcelina

    The Gas Lamps' Flare

The Gas Lamps' Flare starts out with a BIG, juicy red apple note, with some dark smoky resinous/incense notes underneath. The super juicy apple fades pretty quickly and I am left with a soft, sweet apple scent. I wish my skin didn't totally eat it because otherwise this would be really nice.
  10. porcelina

    Pure Applesauce

Pure Applesauce starts out as a really rich, autumnal apple scent, very sweet and decadent. Sadly, it fades INCREDIBLY fast and after about 4 minutes I can barely smell it. ☹️
  11. porcelina

    Joy Buzzer

I love Joy Buzzer! Champagne is one of my favorite BPAL notes and this is just about straight champagne, but with an underlying layer of honey that deepens and sweetens it. The fizziness settles down after a few minutes and it becomes soft and sweet and smells so good!
  12. porcelina

    Garden Path With Chickens

i remember buying a bottle of garden path with chickens sort of at random and being pleasantly surprised by it, because super fresh/green scents are not normally my thing and this is AGGRESSIVELY fresh and green. it has a beautiful warm spring/summer feel to it and i find it surprisingly wearable, although it is quite strong on my skin.
  13. porcelina

    Les Anges Déchus

les anges dechus is well-blended to the extent that i cannot actually discern any of the individual notes. it smells soft, clean, golden and nice; it is "perfumey" in a way that most of my favorite bpals are not. i would say it smells like a very expensive perfume, but not one that i particularly would like to wear.
  14. porcelina

    Kiyohime Changes From a Serpent

kiyohime has a really nice ocean salt note combined with soft florals. i don't get much musk or matcha. i am trying to think of what this reminds me of- maybe ulalume? either way, florals and aquatics don't typically work for me on their own, let alone together! it kind of all fades to what i would call laundry detergent on my skin.
  15. porcelina

    Lot and His Daughters

i get major red wine in the bottle- very sweet and boozy. on my skin there is a gorgeous patchouli note sweetened by wine, but something in here takes a medicinal turn and sadly i do not think this is wearable for me.
  16. porcelina

    The Sailor's Den

sailor's den is initially super coconutty for me, with some nice bay rum in the background. i love bay rum and i wish it was more prominent here! as it sits it kind of starts to remind me of a more feminine calico jack. calico jane? haha. unfortunately for me, my skin apparently amps lilac like craaaaaazy and after a while that is all i get.
  17. porcelina

The Fox-Woman Kuzunoha Leaving Her Child

CRAZY AMOUNTS OF JASMINE with a very nice white tea note in the background. it seems like jasmine is a love it or hate it note for most people; i personally do not have a lot of experience with it as i tend to avoid florals. i actually don't mind this and like the pure jasmine tea vibe but it is super crazy strong. i would have to go easy on this one if i wore it out! anyway, i actually kind of like it and mind wear it some day when i am in a rare floral mood.
  18. porcelina

    The Death Of Sardanapal

death of sardanapal is all strong, spiced wine on me at first. initially, i could see wearing this in the fall or winter. i noticed zankoku_zen mentioned olive in her review and i weirdly got that note for a minute but it faded. eventually it ends up as a soft spiced wine, but the scent is not really rich or bold enough for my tastes.
  19. porcelina

    The Lantern Ghost of Oiwa

lantern ghost of oiwa is a subtle, clean, close-to-the-skin, delicate sort of scent. my bottle is quite old and there is almost no mint note left. it's soft and does not immediately come across as floral, but the floral notes are there, grounded by the wood and black tea. i think this is a particularly nice blend for spring.
  20. porcelina

    Lady Lucille Sharpe

lots and lots of amber with just a hint of rose and something very rich and fruity which must be the "smoky plum musk." i am a big fan of this smoky plum musk! as it dries, it gets smokier. very dark and complex and quite elegant. i could definitely imagine wearing this one.
  21. porcelina

    Mother Ghost

the tea leaf really dominates everything else in here for me at first, and then as it settles down, things get strange. i thought this might work despite the white musk and rose because of the resins and amber, but it is just a little too fresh and floral for my tastes. weirdly, there is something in here that reminds me of the smell of raw pumpkin.
  22. porcelina

    Shadows and Reflections

wow, i wasn't really expecting to like this one, but i do. the black musk is beautiful and works so well with the sandalwood and myrrh. i don't know what poppy is supposed to smell like but if it smells anything like this, then i definitely like it. dark, maybe a little smoky, but smooth and rich. mmm.
  23. porcelina

    Sir Thomas Sharpe

i loooove this scent. the black amber is amazing and transforms the fougere beautifully. i definitely get a little lavender out of it, as well. it wears close to the skin and is a really warm and cozy sort of scent and i think it would work beautifully on both men and women. i might have to buy a bottle!
  24. porcelina

The First Time I Saw A Ghost

i definitely get a champagne note from here, but also something very cold, and sharp florals. then there's this soft, powdery, vanilla-like note that kind of covers and mutes everything else? at first i really do not like it at all, but as it dries, i could see wearing this at least once and a while. it's elegant and very unique and i can't think of any other bpal in my collection to compare it to.
  25. porcelina

    The Magician

As soon as I smelled this one, I knew I had to try it on my husband, too. On me, it's a very clean, slightly soapy, traditional cologne scent with a metallic edge. On him, more of the wood comes out, making it much warmer and softer. I like it much better on him.
