Bourbon blackberry buttercream over red velvet cake.
YUM. blackberries and sweet, rich cream! this is delicious, like the richest and creamiest of cupcakes topped with a sweet berry sauce. mmm. -
a very faint, plasticky vanilla. smells better in the bottle, but not for me. it sounded like something i'd love, so i guess i dodged a bullet there, haha.
-
starts out with the wonderful dandelion note i love so much and a bit of deeper pine but finishes with a floral note i am not happy with
-
reasons i am really dumb:
1. i ordered mme moriarty without noticing it contained red musk
2. i ordered mme moriarty without remembering that i had just bought a partial imp from someone and would be able to test it before ordering
well, i just tested it and- AMAZINGLY, the red musk plays nicely, the plum and vanilla are delicious and the patchouli is tame. in other words, i will love and adore my bottle and can't wait for it to arrive!

holy CRAP i love geek. i cannot stop smelling myself. it's woodsy and feral and marvelous. mmmmm!
-
at first: red musk! red musk turns all weird and fruity on me. with anything else, crowley would be delicious. the leather, the wood, the lovely dry vanilla...
but wait: the more it dries, the less 'red musky' the red musk becomes, so maybe... hmmm.... this may not work on me all the way, but as soon as i can get it on bf, i will be trying it out. crowley has the potential to be so yummy...

i got a decant of tko in a swap with a lovely forumite.
now... i don't like lavender. at *all*. it doesn't work on me. in fact it smells like burning awfulness on my skin, to be exact. but TKO is so nice and comforting and sweet that i am considering a bottle purchase just to slather it all over my stuffed animals and pillows when i go to bed. my pandapple now smells like sweet vanilla marshmallows every morning, hehe.

i didn't think i'd like tzadikim, but it is surprisingly pleasant- earthy and slightly sweet. the olive is really nice and i like the frankincense. i like it, but i don't think i will wear it.

Named for the ambitious, vengeful poisoner Catherine deMedici, who used perfumes to perform her dark deeds. A sinful blend of orange blossom, rosemary and rose... allegedly the exact perfume she utilzed in her work.
the orange blossom in catherine is really, really lovely. it reminds me of the orange blossom perfume i would buy at touristy gift shops in florida when i was little, only fresher and more realistic. unfortunately, the rose does not disappear and is too overbearing for this to be wearable. -
mmm! golden priapus is a somewhat masculine o- the same glorious amber and vanilla with a touch of woodsy pine. white pine is like a lighter, softer pine than others i've smelled, and once it's on my skin, it's definitely not too manly for me to wear. in fact, the pine makes golden priapus more wearable for me- i adore o, but it's so gratuitously sexual that i never really wear it outside the house! this is lovely and a definite bottle purchase for me.

pop rocks! fizzy colorful candy bits spilled over a LITTLE bit of caramel. i hope the caramel stays put before it goes all plasticky, because i smell so effervescent and sugary sweet. yum yum yum!

the dried leaves note in chant reminds me of what i didn't like about october when i ordered it last year. and the vetiver (had i known it was a component, i wouldn't have ordered- but i misread 'khus' as 'kush') overpowers everything. i will keep this to see if the vetiver can calm down because underneath i can sense this lovely, musky scent, and if the vetiver was lighter it would add just a tang of smokey goodness to the mix.
-
oh, i knew this would happen. for a few blissful seconds this is beautiful, sweet, crystalline sugary goodness with the slightest hint of candied fruit. and then my chemistry burns the sugar and turns it acrid and plasticy. it's not as bad as it was with smut, but it's not good, either. blehhhh. kind of oddly snake oil-like, for a minute... this just does not work.

wow, i was not expecting this. harvest moon is strong and sharply herbal. myth said it smelled like l'autunno room spray, and i definitely agree. it is a little too green, a little too shriekingly herbal for my tastes. after a while it mellows slightly but i just don't think it's my thing.

mmmmmm. this is goorrrgeeooousss. misfitroxy, in her review above, used the word toothsome. it is definitely appropriate. the apple, which on me has a tendency to become very sharp and overpowering, is tempered by sweet, earthy nuttiness. there's a hint of crisp air, of wood- but it is autumnal without smelling like a craft store or pumpkin candle. to autumn a really smooth, delicious fall scent, just this side of foody- i love it!

on me, hellhound is dark, masculine and earthy- though not so masculine that i would be adverse to wearing it. it's a smoky sweet vanilla, with a wonderfully earth quality. with the bay rum, it's just glorious. i was expecting something similar to antikythera mechanism, but this is a lot less refined and more complex. i ended up buying a backup because it is so fantastic.

boozy hawaiian punch! spiked punch lives up to its name and is *yummy*, but with so little throw and wearlength that it isn't worth seeking a bottle of.
-
i wore this one a long time ago and got lots of compliments. gorgeous, resinous amber sweetened by tart, juicy fruit. the dry-down is spectacular.
-
at first it is all bitter and almondy and bleh. as it dries and is absorbed by my skin, however, the scent that remains is a dark and sexy cola incense. that sounds slightly strange, but it is astonishingly good.

previous review says: minty, buttery, eucalyptus, light florals.
i say: big red gum or trident or any other kind of cinnamony/minty chewing gum. my mom, who usually describes ALL of my bpal as 'old lady', got the same thing from it. it remains surprisingly true and strong after it is applied to my skin. wow.

i bought this for my boyfriend, because we both love the way calico jack smells on him. on him, it was nothing special, but surprisingly it smells very good on me! it shares similar notes with calico jack but is somehow less aquatic (though very salty upon initial application) and warmer. it is very dark and spicy but i'm not sure about the leather note. it seems to be turning to plastic the longer i wear it.

mmm. fresh, crisp apples, wafting up from my wrist! i never get any throw out of my bpal but holy crap, i'm suddenly in an apple orchard. this brought to my mind a memory i'd completely forgotten- walking into the store at this apple orchard my parents took me to when i was little, surrounded by piles of shiny red and yellow and green fresh-picked apples. it doesn't smell cold but- the inside of my nose feels chilly after i sniff it! hehe, so strange. luckily i don't get any mint or eucalyptus when i sniff it (although i'm thinking a dash of mint is responsible for that cooling effect?), just apples and musk. it is surprisingly strong. i'll be keeping this one around.

i brought this to the woodfield bpal MnS and no one else had any idea what they were smelling, either. i think it is definitely aquatic and floral. it's a sweet, fresh scent, not too cloying. maybe sweet pea and freesia- i know i have smelled this flower before, in some other bath product. but there is a fresh, watery note, maybe a bit of salt (but much better than penthus or pool of tears, both of which smelled icky on me)... there might be a hint of citrus. it's pleasant, but sooo not my thing.

slightly waxy chocolates with candied coconut and a touch of ginger. foody scents just do not work on me, i'm afraid. but the fig is lovely, and may lead me to seek out other bpal fig notes.
