  1. this is a perfect christmas scent for me. there is pine, but it is not the dark, resinous or woodsy kind that i amp like crazy. it's exactly what it says in the description- fresh pine boughs hung up as decorations and an array of delicious, seasonal food and drink. pine, a touch of citrus, nuts and spiced fruits. it reminds me a bit of hearth 2005, but much less heavy and with fresher, fruitier components. i think this is more like what i wanted whoop to be, and i am very pleased.

  2. this is not at all a baked goods sort of ginger- it's creamy and sweet! it reminds me of fresh ginger ice cream- light, cool and sweet. it is somewhat like opuhi, an atomic tiki lounge le i've always loved, but even cooler and lighter. not at all what i was expecting, and so delightful.

  3. wow! i never would have tried the red rider if the lab hadn't sent me a frimp in a recent order, and it is so very me. the red leather note is beautiful- it smells more authentic to me than the sort of shiny, almost-fake patent leather scent i get from something like brom bones (though i also love that one). this is also a very nostalgic scent for me because it reminds me VERY strongly of kitschy gift shops in the wisconsin dells that i visited as a child- you know, filled with tacky buckskin pouches and wooden boxes painted with cheesy pictures of wolves. i love it and i am ordering a 5ml.

  4. i'm looking for a creamy citrus scent to replace a beloved chaos theory that i idiotically spilled all over the couch/my fiancé's iphone/myself earlier this evening.

it's from last year's amber series, so there is definitely a soft, mild amber note, underlying a sweet, creamy lemon. the lemon itself is lovely- a sort of fresh, true lemon zest/juice sort of scent, sweetened by sugar. it almost smells like creamy lemon frosting, but it is not particularly foodie. i really love it and i'm so sad i lost it all! :cry2:

  5. the description on this one is very accurate, to me. there's a sawdusty smell and something sharp and metallic (this part almost turns soapy after a while... weird). sadly, i don't think the rat king is a favorite of mine.

  6. beautiful. this is a very warm scent. it doesn't have a lot of throw, but close to the skin, it's just gorgeous. the leather is very subtle, underneath the nutty coffee and warm spices. the notes blend together so fabulously that it's hard to pick them out individually. very sexy.

  7. Queen of the Kingdom of Sweets: sugar plums, vanilla-infused sugar, tiare, amber musk, apricot peel, and a light dusting of cacao.

at first, there is a definite watermelon candy thing going on, under a creamy amber/vanilla/musk, just slightly powdery, but as it dries the plum comes out. i love plum; it's one of the only fruit notes i can wear! it is a clean, pleasant scent and wears close to the skin.

  8. i laughed when i found bedbugs (the IMPS, not the actual bugs! :P) in my nycc bag, because my fiancé and i were kind of worried about our trip to nyc after hearing about the apparent bedbug epidemic there (and before going to the con, we had checked into our hotel room and thoroughly inspected our mattress, haha). this is a fantastic scent, like yummy gingerbread cookies and tea! i love it!

  9. ooooh! elephantine colossus smells like musky, sexy cookies with a splash of root beer. it's wonderful, and i think it will age beautifully. i'm glad i got, um, 3 bottles.

edit: three months later, this has already aged fantastically. i smell like an idealized carnival (you know, food and treats and a ferris wheel, minus the occasional whiff of vomit and, um, "carny musk"), with red musk, root beer and a hint of foody goodness- like funnel cake being served up at a cute, colorful stand. i adore this!

  10. mmm, i love this one. for once, the spruce does not overwhelm the other notes with crazy pineyness and all of the notes combine to create a really atmospheric, well-blended perfume. in the bottle, it smells like a forest at night. on my skin, there is a hint of smoke and nut against a backdrop of fresh-smelling spruce, with the cool scent of fresh earth rounding it off. perfect for fall.

  11. this has changed a lot as it's aged, or at least since i first reviewed it. it's a really interesting scent. i am not a fan of the jasmine, which is a bit sour on me, but i've never quite smelled anything like this- light florals and tea with a bitter cacao heart. i think jasmine and i just don't personally get along.

  12. i didn't expect to like this. i don't really know what a chrysanthemum is supposed to smell like, but from this blend i get a light, pleasant floral with a soft, sweet-cold snow note. it's not my usual thing, but i'm so pleased to have a snow scent work on me that i just might keep it.

  13. black temple burlesque troupe is wonderful. it reminds me very much of boomslang, but less spicy and more musky. i can't wait for it to age! chocolate usually doesn't work on me- but the very dark cacao in this is perfect and blends with the rich tobacco so well.

my only complaint is that it stains my wrists dark brown!
