  1. MoonriseSiren

    Czernobog

Created in honor of the Slavic Black God of the Dead. A nighttime god of grief, evil, chaos and woe, he is paralleled by his twin brother Bylebog, god of light, joy, order, and good fortune. A combination of three musks, with splashes of dark myrrh, vetiver and mullein. I received a frimp of this from the Lab with my most recent purchase. It isn't something I likely would've bought for myself, because when I read the description it seemed more like a masculine scent. In the imp, it smells EXACTLY like my favorite New Age shop! It's really funny; I have a drawer full of candles and other items from that shop, and since it's always closed unless I need something, I smell the shop when I open the drawer. This imp smells exactly the same! I love it. On the skin, it loses some of that sweetness (I'm guessing that was the mullein) but is still very nice. I do wonder how it would smell on a guy. After awhile, it becomes very clear that one of the musks involved is red musk. I amp red musk like there's no tomorrow, so it's practically all I can smell. I do like red musk, though... Verdict: I think I want a larger bottle. I wish that initial "New Age" scent had stuck around, but maybe the red musk will die down a bit on aging.

    Chaos Theory VII: Oriental

My bottle is marked #114. I noticed someone else's bottle was apparently also marked with the same number, so I dunno what's up with that. Is that common? This is the first time I've ever ordered a Chaos from the Lab. In the bottle, it's very fruity and bright. It sort of reminds me of Eris, but less fruity than Eris was. It also has a hint of something wilder and windswept, so I'm thinking some sort of balsam was the base note for this. On the skin, it remains pretty fruity, but something a bit sharper rises up. A lemon scent? I think there might be something peppery mixed in as well. It's very interesting. I think...I might like it? I will admit to being a teeny bit disappointed; I was hoping for something sexier, with tonka or benzoin perhaps. It will be interesting to see how it ages though!

    Blue Moon July 2015

This is such a dreamy blend. I agree with Tempest; it feels like a TAL, and putting it on made me feel calmer and very at ease. It's got a feel like TAL Meditation, though it smells nothing like Meditation. In the bottle I get a lot of mugwort, which was concerning since mugwort on me smells like...well, pot. But on the skin it all dries down and blends beautifully. For me, the dominant note on the skin is the palmarosa. It's like nothing else in my collection and I just adore it.

    Single Note: Stage Blood

In the bottle: pure cherry. I have run afoul of the Lab's cherry note before, so even though I expected it would be quite cherry I was worried about testing. On, wet: OH. MY. GODDESS. This is cherry and dragon's blood and something else I can't place, but together they morph into the most glorious, sexy scent EVA. Someone above described it as "sexy blood" and I definitely agree! I can't stop sniffing my hand where I tested it and I absolutely cannot WAIT till I wear it tomorrow. This is a rare back up bottle situation for me. It's like...a romanticized version of a vampire, distilled into a scent. As it dries down it morphs very little, which pleases me. This is so, so good.
