    Ogun

Based on the description, Ogun is so not something I would have picked for myself. Lucky for me, it came as a freebie In the imp: I'm not quite sure why, but all I can think of is green tea. Not the kind you would drink regularly, but the concentrated flavoring I once used when I was manufacturing ice cream in a local store. Weird. Wet: It's spicy, to the point of kinda searing my sinuses if I get too close to sniff. Uh oh. Oh! We have smoke! And gin! I really hope that melon comes out soon, 'cause I'd really rather not have people at the library thinking I'm drunk at noon on a Monday. Man, this is weird. I've got the chillis, but still no melon I like it, and I'm glad I've tried it, but I don't think this is one I'll be holding on to.

    The Hesperides

Initially, this scent came out as sweet vanilla, of all things. Then, it turned "light and airy and good," as my boyfriend said. A few minutes later, the apples came out, and I was thrilled. And now, a half hour later? Nothing. It's gone

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I've spent nearly a year thrilled with my bottle of Dublin. So pleased was I than I've returned to BPAL tonight after a long absence in order to purchase some more of my most favoritest scent, only to find that it is GONE. Disappeared! Vanished! What am I to do? Does anyone know of some Dublin-ish scents that I might use as a substitute? I am so very, very disappointed.

    Empyreal Mist

This scent, like mist, is beautiful while it lasts, but evaporates quickly. We're talking 15 minutes and I can't smell it.

    Leanan Sidhe

Like many others have said, Leanan Sidhe reminds me of department store perfume. It's rather intense, and I can't identify any notes. I do hope it changes into something more recognisable and natural-smelling, but if not, my mom would love it.

    Hamadryad

YES! That's just what I thought when I first put it on, and I thought "I must be crazy." The candy-ness is fading, and I'm starting to get the woods and....licorice? Man. It's pretty, but I don't know if it's something I'd wear often. Of course, this has to be the Imp with the broken top, so my fingers (and desk, and sweater) are covered in the stuff. I had to re-bottle it in an empty jam jar

    Snake Oil

It's been about ten minutes, and all I'm getting is spicy Play Doh. I really hope this goes through a dramatic and delicious metamorphosis soon, because I wanna wear Snake Oil, dammit! The whole point of this imp was to smell sexy x 100000, but instead I smell like a kid with some ginger snaps and a bunch of blue goop. It also kinda stings my wrist a bit. Uh oh. [edit] Wait, wait, it's changing! To baby powder. Luck is not on my side with Snake Oil.

    Dublin

So I wait and wait for my Imps to come, and the second they show up at my doorstep, I have a nasty, nose-plugging cold. Of course, that's just how the universe works, but it doesn't stop me from being cranky about it. Nor will it stop me from reviewing, albeit congestedly, all my eagerly awaited Imps. Dublin initially smelled sort of piny, but not in a Pine-Sol, or even Christmas tree, way. It was very much like years of damp pine needles on a forest floor, just disturbed by my hiking boot. That phase was short-lived, however, and it soon morphed into a lovely floral, muted by herbs both green and dry. It has a bit of an enchanted forest quality, what with the underlying woodiness and soft roses. It becomes increasingly herbal as time passes, but I am loving every second of this. Boyfriend and Friends (and I) have grand plans to buy a large plot of land in North Carolina and build our own log cabins. My only stipulation is that our house must have easy access to both woods and fields, as I refuse to go without trees and a garden. This is the scent of our future home: old wood, roses by the open window, and herbs drying from the rafters. I could spend all day sniffing my wrist and daydreaming. *wistful sigh*

    Venice

Venice came as a freebie with my first ever order, and I was very excited to try it out. This is the first review I've ever done, so bear with me while I give you the play-by-play. Bottle: OMGLEMON. Boyfriend says it smells like furniture polish Wet: LEMON (and roses) and LEMON Drydown: Thank God, the lemon has calmed down. The floral notes are coming out, and they're really quite lovely. It's complex and beautiful, and the jasmine somehow reminds me of sneaking drinks out onto my parent's patio on late summer nights. Venice, however, is not a scent for mid Frebruary. Also, as much as I like it (once the lemon overload fades, that is), Venice may be a bit too "old" for me. I feel like I'm not sophisticated enough to pull it off just yet. Or maybe I just have a cold. Either way, I'll save it for springtime and see how it goes then.
