    Dragon's Milk

This smells exactly like a Lush perfume scent to me, I think it is the honeyed vanilla note thats triggering some college scent memories. Lovely and strong! But I dont want to be transported to a time of hangovers in figure drawing class, and dorm life.

    Harlot

Got this in as a frimp from the lab.In the imp and in the first second of wear I smell freshly cut roses, but once the cinnamon starts- it overtakes all. Dries down to almost nothing, just the hint of cinnamon. Like I held red hot candies for too long.
  3. I always like to rec Oblivion because it's strange and unusual and I've found nothing like it. Also Satyr because either you will love it or you will hate it, but either way, youll know how you feel about civet/animalistic scents.

    Thirteen (13): April 2018

13 is significant, whether you consider it lucky, unlucky or just plain odd. Many believe it to be unfortunate… …because there were 13 present at the Last Supper. …Loki crashed a party of 12 at Valhalla, which ended in Baldur’s death. …Oinomaos killed 13 of Hippodamia’s suitors before Pelops finally, in his own shady way, defeated the jealous king. …In ancient Rome, Hecate’s witches gathered in groups of 12, the Goddess herself being the 13th in the coven. Concern over the number thirteen echoes back beyond the Christian era. Line 13 was omitted form the Code of Hammurabi. The shivers over Friday the 13th also have some interesting origins: …Christ was allegedly crucified on Friday the 13th. …On Friday, October 13, 1307, King Philip IV of France ordered the arrests of Jaques de Molay, Grand Master of the Knights Templar, and sixty of his senior knights. …In British custom, hangings were held on Fridays, and there were 13 steps on the gallows leading to the noose. To combat the superstition, Robert Ingersoll and the Thirteen Club held thirteen-men dinners during the 19th Century. Successful? Hardly. The number still invokes trepidation to this day. A recent whimsical little serial killer study showed that the following murderers all have names that total thirteen letters: Theodore Bundy Jeffrey Dahmer Albert De Salvo John Wayne Gacy And, with a little stretch of the imagination, you can also fit “Jack the Ripper” and “Charles Manson” into that equation. More current-era paranoia: modern schoolchildren stop their memorization of the multiplication tables at 12. There were 13 Plutonium slugs in the atomic bomb that was dropped on Nagasaki. Apollo 13 wasn’t exactly the most successful space mission. All of these are things that modern triskaidekaphobes point to when justifying their fears. For some, 13 is an extremely fortuitous and auspicious number… …In Jewish tradition, God has 13 Attributes of Mercy. Also, there were 13 tribes of Israel, 13 principles of Jewish faith, and 13 is considered the age of maturity. …The ancient Egyptians believed that there were 12 stages of spiritual achievement in this lifetime, and a 13th beyond death. …The word for thirteen, in Chinese, sounds much like the word which means “must be alive”. Thirteen, whether you love it or loathe it, is a pretty cool number all around. …In some theories of relativity, there are 13 dimensions. …It is a prime number, lucky number, star number, Wilson Prime, and Fibonacci number. …There are 13 Archimedean solids. AND… …There were 13 original colonies when the United States were founded. Says a lot about the US, doesn’t it? Dark chocolate infused with thirteen protective herbs and offerings to keep capricious spirits at bay: red wine, Spanish moss, yarrow, black sage, coconut meat, nutmeg, black clove, caraway, allspice, archangel, crushed acorn, marshmallow root, and mullein. I was so excited for this scent, mainly because I just got married on the 13th! It was a lovely day full of love and sunshine (the only day we've had with sun and 80 degree weather thus far) and I was delighted to pick this up for a special wedding-day-blend. I am not usually a 13 lover, as I don't really love chocolate, but luckily, this chocolate note is non-existent on my skin. This 13 is wine-heavy, lush and dark and fruity with a small smattering of herbs in the background. It smells like Mabon in my coven when we make a huge pot of mulled wine, actually. Pleasant and sweet, but much more of an autumnal scent for me.This has ample throw and is quite strong, almost headache inducing, so apply lightly! I love it because of the sentiment attached and the scent memory of good friends and good food in the late summer moonlight. I will definitely keep the bottle.

    Umbra - Resurrected

This was one of my instant buys of the re-releases, and while I havent smelled the original, I dearly love this version of Umbra. Its very soft dark patchouli, the exact same kind that is in Black Moths, which is my all time favorite scent. The vetiver and the cedarwood mingle in the background helping to keep it very firmly entrenched in the soft shadows. I absolutely love it, and will probably pick up another bottle before these come down.

    Hunger

This smells like a mix of creamsicle and LUSH's jasmine scent. Pretty, sweet and fairly simple. Probably a good scent for a teenager or anyone wishing for a good summer time floral.

    Titania

In the frimp this smells a lot like juicy fruit gum. Or the zebra stripe stuff? Very sugared fruits, not a lot of florals kicking in just yet. After applying to my wrist the over sugared ripe fruit smell disapates a bit, leaving behind the faintest dewy residue of light florals and gum. As a previous reviewer said this is very shimmery. I have a Midsummer's Party to attend this weekend where this would be perfect for, but it wont get much use after that, I am afraid.

    Calico Jack

Almost headache inducing aquatic with a very odd salt note. I feel like I can taste the salt water? Its super strange and very much not for me. I know that I dont like aquatics anyway, so if you do, please try this! Its so unique and I have tried anything like in the rest of Bpals catalogue.

    Black Pearl

Like other reviewers, this is light and gentle and also full of coconuty-horror. I despise coconut unless it is in an adult beverage, and the note is very excruciatingly prominent in this blend. Not for me!

    Black Forest

This was one of my first Bpal purchases, as I was on the hunt to smell like greenery in all its forms. Unlike many of its fellows, Black Forest has remained a favorite. I love the mix of the ambergris and the pine, and it stays cool and forest like throughout the day in all types of weather. I love this, and its one of my favorites for a day where I need to feel centered and peaceful, in my beloved forest, if only in a sense.

    Black Cat

I have two vials of Black Cat, the older one is much more yellow than the new clear vial. And all I can smell is myrrh in the imp, and I know that myrrh is just straight baby powder on my skin. I know why I let the old one age so much, forgotten in my imp box. To be swapped or gifted, as this is not going to be worn.

    Bess

All I smell is lemon candy? Maybe like eating lemon candy from your grandfather at church, and then getting grape juice for children's communion- which is a very specific scent memory, not really one I want to wear during my day to day. I will not be returning to Bess, but floral and fruit fans might find something to like here.

    Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo

This smells like sticky summer strawberry soda. Alliteration! Its not for me, as I do not like to smell very sweet, but would be good for someone who likes lighter, brighter and more.. youthful scents!

    Anne Bonny

I wish this was more red patchouli forward on me. Traditional resins, like my dear friend Frank tend to come off..slightly sour? Very sharp. After a bit of time, this is more sandalwood than Frankincense which suits my nose just fine. Its nice, but I probably wont need to get a bottle right away.

    All Night Long

It smells like cinnamon flavored pencil shavings on my skin! Not a bad thing, for certain, just odd, and strangely comforting. Wont inspire me to jump my fella, but would do very nicely as a comforting winter scent, all warm in sweaters and blankets.

    #20 Love Oil

Its smells a bit like a specific brand of hand cream my husband uses for his skin problems? Weirdly medicinal and kind of old lady like in tone. Will not be returning to it again.

    Lampades

This does have that fruity holiday candle smell to me, nd on my skin it just smells like berry chapstick. Not a favorite.

    The White Rider

This was a frimp from my most recent purchase, and I have to say that it is reading has a straight up leather note on my skin, like new tack leather, maybe, with that creaky snap all new leather has. I like it very much, but I am glad I didnt expect any resins from it.

    Hellfire

In the imp I get this dark tapestry of scent, really can smell the pipe tobacco and th leather and the musk. On my skin I get nothing, nada. A whisper that a scent was ever there. If shove my nose on my wrist and huff with all my might I do get this smokey sweet scent. Leathery ambergris and smoke. I wish with all my heart that I could get it to throw on me like some of my more hated blends. Why is it that the ones I think I will most like disappear instantly while vile things like banana stick around for hours with sadistic glee? I will keep the imp with a heart full of hope that someday Hellfire will get louder on my skin.

    Sea of Glass

This is the perfect linen scent for me. It reminds me of a summer afternoon in the south after the rain when the honeysuckle is in bloom. Its expertly mixed and while I wouldnt want to personally smell like this, having it as a room scent for the laundry is a perfect use of the frimp.

    Baron Samedi

I dont know why today my brain is making mainly food and drink correlations with scents, but this smells like sweet and spicy pretzels, the kind in a chex mix bag on long road trips. I dont get rum, or alcohol or anything else in the slightest, but weird pretzels. Interesting, perhaps I will revisit this again and see how I feel about it.

    Persephone

This smells like a drink I would indulge in in college. Very much a fruity floral with a saccharine sweetness like too thick simple syrup oozing along the bottom of a glass. Not for me, but glad I got to try it.

    Shango

I admit to not really enjoying the orisha blends I have been frimped or given in my time, and right off the bat, I can tell that Shango is on that list for me as well. I just dont like to smell like a frozen beach drink, personally. In the vial it's a harsh blend of banana, pineapple and alcohol, and on my skin the candy-banana note is so strong it makes my eyes water. Then it smells rather like fresh cut apples and...mens aftershave? I must be interpreting the coconut as aftershave. I mean no disrespect to Shango but I am very put off by the combined weirdness that is this blend on me. On a positive note I suppose, the throw is incredible and I can smell the tiniest drop even if I have my hands out as far as they will go.

    The Night-Raven

Oh dear. This has jasmine in it, doesnt it. Luckily I am not one of those poor souls that Jasmine turns to poo on, however, Jasmine loves my skin and I amp it like no other. This ends up being a very perfumey Jasmine with a light green background. I am forever doomed to avoid Jasmine it seems. Sadness, for I do love the other notes dearly.

    Nemesis

On me this is very cypress forward, with a slight hint of the ginger to make me regret shoving my nose to my wrist and huffing for this review. As you can imagine, on me this is a skin scent, very low throw, if any. After a fair amount of time ,the heavy evergreen lightens and the sweetness of the rose comes to the front. With that mix, it smells a bit like an austere Victorian Lady with no mirth in her life whatsoever. Not for me, and I know why I have passed it by on numerous occasions.
