    Taurus 2007

"Ferdinand the Bull" is how my husband described this. He's just about right too. This is so much softer than I expected it to be. More than Taurus, it smells like Spring, or at least the Spring I've been hoping to arrive. In the bottle, i was extremely worried, especially as it was a birthday gift from my better half and I didn't want to not like it. Luckily, like most of the lab's creations, it doesn't smell the same once it hits my skin. Roses and apples, and strangely, heliotrope, which I know isn't one of the ingerdients, comes to the fore once it dries down. It makes me feel like wearing a flowy, flowery dress, wearing my hair curly and walking around barefoot. Too bad it's only 40 degrees out.

    Enraged Groundhog Musk

I love this much more than expected to, really and wish I had bought a second bottle... Cocoa-Caramel in the bottle, with a hint of spice, reminding me of the lovely spiced caramels I got the Christmas before last and can't seem to find again. Wet on skin, the cardamom and cinnamon take over with a hint of sweetness, reminiscent of chai tea. Dry - chocolate spice cake. This has great wear. I can still smell it 9 hours later. My skin never gets the cherries, but I don't really miss them. I'm wearing it every day until the winter thaw in hopes that Mr. Phil was right in his predictions. I now have seasonal everyday fall back scents, Jazz Funeral in Spring, Hungry Ghost Moon for Summer, Punkie Night in the Fall, Lick it (and Again) for Holidays, and now this for Late Winter. I hope it gets made again. If not, I guess it's back to Gluttony and Red Lantern.

    The Winter of Our Discontent

In vial: Really intriguing in the decant vial. Couldn't decide if it was too mannish and therefore goes to my DH, or just undeveloped. Wet: Still thought it might be too mannish and a wee bit too soapy. Ready to write it off as his. Honestly I forgot about it for several hours and then laid down to take a nap. Put my arm over my head and went," Wow!" So sexy, even hours later. Nutmeg, rose, woods. The myrrh stays in the background to deepen the smell and never turns into the hippie nightmare it usually does on me. A bottle or two is in order. This is a seriously sexy, powerful scent.

    Pumpkin Patch II (2005, 2006)

I love pumpkin in my home and in a pie, but unfortunately, on my skin, it doesn't love me. This smells just like the chocolate pumpkin cupcakes I made last fall in the vial. On the skin, for one quick second, it smells super yummy. Then my body grabs a hold of it and won't let go, transmuting it into melting plastic and fruit punch. Sad for me, good for whoever wants to swap.

    Pumpkin Queen

My body has apparently has changed chemistry again and lately the pumpkin smells I have tried have not worked on me at all. This smells so gorgeous in the vial. I put it on though and it instantly dropped all likeness to pumpkin . Even through drydown it winds up smelling like cranberry cider. I'm sure someone will love this, but it's not really for me.

    Kunstkammer

Pour some Tussin on it! Wow, I was hoping for the yummy fruitiness everyone has talked about, but from vial through dry down, I feel like a Chris Rock joke. It softens up after a few minutes, but i still feel like I smell like a shut in. I need a vial of something chicken soup scented and something with menthol to complete the illusion. I used to wear primarily fruity smells, but it seems like my body chemistry has changed immensely and warmth is a more agreeable scent characteristic for me. Thank god there's a million and one of those in the BPAL cadre.

    O

O, you are going in my pile of favorites, alongside Jazz Funeral, Red Lantern, and Gluttony. You may have the honor of getting Grey Goosed into perfume spray yet! Lush's Mange Too, made liquid. Sweet honey amber vanilla. Same in the vial as it is on my skin, except warmer. Smelled even better after a rigorous workout. Haven't tried it out on the husband yet, though.

    Velvet

Envelop yourself in the soft, sensual embrace of gentle sandalwood warmed by cocoa vanilla and a veil of deep myrrh. I so wanted to love this. It smelled all cocoa-y and spicey in the vial, but within seconds of hitting my skin... I smelled like a head shop. No chocolate to be found, just sandalwood and myrrh. Blecch. Not for me. Oh,vial of Candy Butcher yet to arrive in my mailbox, you're my only hope...

    Eat Me

"Frosting" is what my husband said when we smelled this out of the vial and it sounded promising. My body chemistry changed this from a pure food smell to a perfumey candley berry smell. The last whiffs were vanilla, but the middle made me smell like the candle aisle at Target. It's certainly not bad, but there are BPAL smells I like much better. This is bound for scent locket if it doesn't change there, or my mother, whose body chemistry doesn't turn every perfume-y smell into OldLadyLand.

    Gluttony

Ooooh. This is my favorite thus far of my recent imp order and merits a future 5ml purchase. Buttery, cookie-ish, and creamy. I wish I got the chocolate notes others have mentioned, but I put it on before bed and may have slept through that part of the scent's development. It has all the lovely foodiness of Midway with 5 times the staying power. The imp lid broke upon opening it, so I gingerly placed it upright on a shelf and ran out to buy a bottle for it. I couldn't find anything but atomizers, so i went home and added some Grey Goose and attempted to make it an EDT. Even with the dilution, it has not lost it's smell the next morning. My husband came to bed at 6am and said, " I smell caramel popcorn. Is that you?"

    Annabel Lee

It was in a brown padded mailer that she came to me, along with a 5ml and another imp, my Annabel Lee. I had such high hopes for the girl, buried under the willow tree. I loved her, but she didn't love me. I opened the vial, which smelt wet and floral-ly, A sweet, ozone-y garden was Annabel Lee. I swiped it on my skin with dreams of southern swamp and thee, But she soon smelt just like a funeral parlor lily. Damn my body chemistry! I am still searching for my true love, and so is Annabel Lee. I'm going to go make a swap post now, so if she's the one that you adore, Please PM me.

    Sudha Segara

I love sharp ginger smells and they love me right back. While this was all ginger in the imp, it has settled right into being a soft, powdery sort of smell with a lightly spicy ginger kick. The florals in this seem to behave on me, so it's a nice, light option. I really do like it though. It has no throw on me whatsoever, so it's more of a "hugging scent", by which I mean that someone has to be hugging you to smell it. Great for days I don't want to be noticed until I get home with the other half. I wonder how it would hold up added to bubble bath or body lotion base...

    White Rabbit

I am mad for tea, especially Earl Grey and a really stong English Breakfast. I opened my imp and was pleasantly surprised. Wet, this packed a huge coppery nose wallop of Keemun and lemon. On dry-down, the ginger made itself more apparent. Two hours later, the linen showed up and turned this formerly deep scent into something almost floral, but not unpleasantly so. I was really worried about the pepper, as my skin tends to amp pepper, making otherwise lovely perfume smell really offensive on me, but luckily, it never really surfaced. I am going to order a 5ml and cross my fingers that the pepper stays behind!

    Midway

I thought I would be stalking down 5mls of this when I read the description. My other half and I frequently talk about things smelling like "fair food" and I thought it would really be funny to walk around smelling like a carnival. In imp- Buttery caramel- slightly apple and soooo promising. Wet - burnt sugar goodness. First dry down - light, but unctiously buttery- OH says,"Movie popcorn." 1st hour - kettle corn. 30 minutes later- Sadly, gone. It was so yummy, my skin ate it right up, evidently. The only hope for this lasting on me is to use a really heavy body moisturizer first( which hopefully won't destroy the scent.) The other hope is the summer when the humidity gets higher. If I happen across a bottle at the right time, or they re-introduce it in July, I'll probably still buy it. I should try scenting some fabric with it and seeing if that works for me, because it really is lovely. The salt keeps the sugar smell grounded and makes it a clean, but rich smell.

    Dana O'Shee

I got this imp as a freebie with something else I ordered and OMG= LOVE! I opened the vial and was whacked in the nose with the childhood memory of Elk Candy Co. (http://www.elkcandy.com/pages/510253/index.html) at Christmas time. I was so excited that I put this in the crooks of my arms , even though I was wearing my originally purchased scent on my wrists. Honey scent came up after it dried down a bit, making me really happy that I bought a Lush Mange Too bar last week. One hour later, sweet nutty oatmeal. Makes me want to get a cinnamon single note so I can smell like cookies. This may be my next full size bottle purchase!
