This was a frimp a while back. I went through to see if I'd reviewed it and I'm not surprised that I hadn't. I knew on notes alone that this was very much not my kind of scent, lol. I'm guessing the background note I'm getting is clove smoke. For me it smells like the ruins of a freshly razed castle. It's topped by darkened incense notes. To me it brings images of wartorn lands. Very evocative but not very pleasant.

At the beginning it was WHOA ALL MELON! Which was fun and bright, and certain fresh, but not at all what I would wear. On the dry down there's definitely a softer herbal scent that calms the melon down. It is still very fun though and would make a refreshing summer scent for someone who enjoys melon and fruity scents!

This was very cloying on me. The Rose was the main note and it felt on the verge of decay and rather damp. There's also a somewhat soapy note to it. Oddly I don't get much else.

In the very first instances this smelled very light and a bit fruity - definitely plum, but it changed very quickly once on my skin. There's still a light aura about it but for some reason it smells like rather woody paper to me. Is that rice? Or sandalwood that I'm not too familiar with? I have no idea. I'm not very good with individual notes. I'm not very bug on wood smells, but the top notes are so lovely that I'm sad this doesn't really work on me. It makes me think of a floral breeze hovering over freshly laid wood floors. Very beautiful but not at all me. Looks like this decant will be going into the swap pile.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for scents close to: Utrennyaya The Lantern Ghost of Oiwa I bought an extra bottle of the latter before it goes away but I'd feel better if I found something GC and similar. Utrennyaya was my very first BPAL love and it just had this one really beautiful note in it that I've never found in anything else. But I'm always looking for suggestions from the very knowledgeable BPALers! -
Well this wasn't what I expected! I was going through my giant back of old frimps (trying to weed out what to give away and what to start using!)and I almost put this in the give away pile without even smelling it! Granted, I thought I had already reviewed it but I was wrong. This is like an empty airy darkness. I thought it would be very heavy or cloying but it's not at all. I can definitely see how this could be unisex (although I don't tend to go for those scents) but I think I will have to slather my boy in this to see how it takes to his skin. I love Resins and that's what I think gives this a lighter quality, but there's still something "empty" about it. I think it's super yummy and very hard to describe!

Tragically on my skin this is massively amping the leather...and it seems to be mixing with something mysterious to create a bandaid smell. I only smelled lilac before it began to dry which made me quite sad as I ADORE Lilac. Lovely wafting plum though, but I'll stick to Prunella for that.

I am absolutely head-over-heels in love with this scent! It is warm, creamy, and just a bit sweet. I could sink into and yet I feel invigorated. Just wonderful! I really wish that had been a GC.

Well this blend clearly just didn't want to love me. It smelled great in the bottle though! I must just have some odd chemistry. It went on sharp and bitter and then dried to powdery dryer sheet. Bizarre.

A boozy addition to the devil's bake sale! Rum-soaked butter cookies, crusted with sugar, soaked in almond and garnished with orange rind. Wow, this smells exactly like it should! A buttery, sugary, rum cookie! Heavens, I'm about to eat myself!

Before I even read the description I wrote: lots of gorgeous amber combined with something very earthy. So I guess heaven and earth it is!! I'm not sure how I feel about the earth part yet. There are moments when I realize what a nice compliment to the amber is it and other times when I think that I don't want to smell earthy.

I feel so pretty!! Nice juicy plum but it's not too strong - balanced by a light cream and subtle wildflowers. A light, beautiful scent. The fruit lifts my spirits and the lightness means I can wear it at almost any time. Definitely getting a bottle!

Ooops, I forgot to write this review when I actually tried it! I'm just going to copy my notes and hope they make sense: Light and tingly. Some orange, slightly powdery and sad. A bit like a sandalwood fan I own.

This smells like soap to me. Fancy nice, slightly aquatic scented soap, but soap nonetheless. It would be nice in the shower but not something I'd want to wear out.
-
Milk Moon 07 and aquatic dryer sheets. Intriguing but I'm not sure it's a keeper.
-
Light green. Light, fresh, and a tad soapy.
-
Orange sponge cake!! Yum! A hint of anise in the background but thankfully (for me) not very strong. Definitely my favorite of the 5 Halloweenies I've tried so far.

Something in this hates my skin chemistry. I smell like plastic, with a watery backnote. How bizarre. I have no idea which note hates me in this

From a distance this smells like really fresh apple cider where the apples are crisp but the spices are still there. A definite falls cent, but a light crisp one. Put my nose closer though and the cinnamon starts taking ot over turning it into a bit of a potpourri scent.

I actually bought this for my mother's birthday as she loves roses, but I could help but test it! This is a beautifully light young white rose just freshly plucked. I don't get much honeyed cream on me but then again rose on me tends to take over.
-
Mmmm! This reminds me of something I've smelt before...but for the life of me I can't think what. The acai berry stays throughout but it's much stronger in the bottle than it is on my skin but the jasmine and musk make it glow. There's something light and yet warm about this scent.
-
Mostly rosewater with scorched sugar cubes. It's not achingly sweet on me like others have described but I'm aware of it. I also get a dash of opium in the background. Not what I was expecting but it's rather nice.
-
Blood orange, how I love you!! It's very strong in the beginning but alas dies down after a few minutes. Honestly this was a scent I thought I would like. I don't like incense or wood scents generally but this may change my stance. I get no lilac which makes me sad but the interaction between the frankincense, agarwood, amber, and what's left of the blood orange is so intriguing. It's mature yet playful.

I'm the odd woman out here...I don't get that much chrome. It's mostly in the back. I do get sharp white tea and some gardenia though. It's light and refreshing in a "wake you up" sort of way. Over time the musk starts to come out which is nice, takes some of the edge off.
-
Talk about dark & mysterious! This is predominantly black musk & myrrh on me. A dash of woods and moments of fig. It's a fantastic evocative scent....but I'm not sure I can pull it off.
