Love: Carnal, Utrennyaya, Pele, The Hesperides, Morocco, Dana O'Shee. Notes I know I like: amber, musk (all), lily of the valley Notes I don't like: cedar, myrrh (or generally anything that smells like incense), lemon (usually turns into a bitter chemical smell on my skin), gardenia (once again it turns bad on my skin)

    Caressing the Wild Rabbit

First whiff definitely made me think of White Rabbit from the Mad Tea Party collection only this is less creamy. I'm actually surprised by how 'green' this scent is for me. Slightly soapy on my skin but I can tell this would be amazing on others. Most a green but somewhat soft floral on me.
  2. It's been a while since I did reviews and I'm a little worried that my sniffer is broken but here goes! Straight on, before putting my nose close to it, I get a very strong scent of bubblegum? Up close the bubblegum fades a bit and I get a floral pine. The pine and bubblegum do fade with time and it becomes more and more of a sweet floral.

    Cat Chasing Butterflies

First sniff was a bit acrid/bitter but faded quickly. What I assume is the peach blossom, smells similar to neroli to me. I get whiffs of the almond but not as strong as I hoped. and I don't find this milk at all which I was hoping for. Near the end it gets a bit powdery. Very interesting scent and not at all like I was expecting. I would recommend trying it though especially to neroli fans.

    Kamisuki Hair Gloss

Definitely more than a drop of Strawberry. I don't really get the cherry blossom but the white tea does tamper the strawberry some - keeping it extra light and airy. It's a fairly youthful summery scent.

    Braving the Ice

There's definitely yummy buttery cookie in this....but there's also a note that just kind of keeps 'hovering' over the cookie smells and I can't place it (even when looking at the notes). It's not bad but I can't see myself reaching for this even with the yummy cookie note.

Kitten with Shamisen Daydreams of a Phallus Palanquin

First on, this is very distinct pear and rice milk notes. I couldn't really smell the musk and the other two weren't really blending although they were both lovely single notes. However, after about 5-10 minutes this morphed. This is a really light and beautiful scent. Really ethereal without being too flightly if that makes sense. The pear gives it a tinkling shining quality but the soft milk really ground it - makes it slightly more of being a 'skin scent'. The white musk came out as well and is a good bridge between the other two notes. This is just really really pretty and it doesn't fade quickly like some of the lighter scents often do on me. Definitely a keeper for me although I think it will just be for special occasions.

    Maiko with Hair Unbound

Goats milk, coconut, rice milk, honey carnation, and sugar. I hate to be the first review because I'm terrible at identifying notes but here goes: This scent is much warmer than I was expecting - everything already blended well before it even touched my skin. Having trouble picking out notes. I'm thinking the honey carnation is giving a deeper note....or maybe the sugar is more like a burnt sugar or a brown sugar. I got this one and the Kitten scent together and was worried they'd be too similar but they are nothing alike on my skin. Oddly enough despite having two milk notes this doesn't come off as particularly milky to me. There is a hint of it in the background but I get....even an almost wood note in this? The more it sits the more I think it's the honey carnation. Also no coconut to be found on my which I occasionally amp. So interesting - not sure if it's my skin chemistry or the scent itself so I look forward to reading more reviews.
  8. I've sadly been away from BPAL for a while but I finally got a new job (with a raise) and I've really missed all the excitement that goes on here. I know that BPAL thrives a lot off of limited editions but I'd really like to build up my 'base' of scents that theoretically will be replaceable when I use them up. So what GC scents in the past 1-2 years have you fallen for? And why? (Thank you!)

Unveil The Grace In Thine Eyes

Warm. This is definitely a warm scent. A bit creamy, even a hint of wood? A dash of cologne. Interesting. Evocative but hard for me to place.

    Serotine Bat

For me it's definitely heavy on the bourbon vanilla. I'm not great at picking out the notes beyond that. At moments it feels almost burnt (but not in a bad way) and otherwise just very foodie. It's a tad heavier than I expected.

    Jingu

Sakura, white orchid, mandarin, bamboo, red sandalwood, plum blossom, and lilac. This is really really pretty. There's nothing I can say I dislike about it, but I can tell that it's not one I'll reach for so I'm going to pass it on. It's fairly close to the skin, and so lovely. Light florals, and and almost watery feel. I almost feel like I'm floating down a river on my back with the trees around me shedding their blossoms...very girly, and very pretty.

    Vixen

This is definitely a warm sexy scent. There's definitely patchouli in the forefront, but the bakcground is orange blossom and what feels like vanilla. I personally don't really enjoy wearing patchouli, but of all the scents containing it, this is one of the ones I like the best. There's definitely a deceptively innocent edge to this but that coquette has a much darker side - truly perfect for itself namesake, a vixen.

    Quaeris Quot Mihi Basiationes

This actually felt a bit citrus-y at first, but softened a bit. Definitely a nice lush honey. Very bright, very lovely. Not sure I'd get through a bottle, but enjoying this decant.

    A Thought from Propertius

This was not at all what I expected. As someone mentioned earlier, my brain also seems to be reading the cayenne as cinnamon. It's kind of one note and I don't really get any honey or apricot.

    Delight and Consternation

I LOVE this scent. It's quite a morpher on me but I enjoy all it's stages. It's start of really foody-cocoa-custard on me, and it even reminded me of my beloved orange 13. Later it turns into a really seductive skin musk. Beautiful!
