    Yerevan

In the bottle: Very fruity but not too sweet. Can smell the apricot but not a lot. Wet: More of the apricot and something I can't seem to describe at all. I know, not helpful. A little creamy perhaps? Looking at the other reviews it's probably the incense that I can't definte. A bit sharp underneath but not so prominent that I could actually pick out the note. Dry: Wow, this is really nice. Apricot is still there but some of the musk has come out. It's not to sweet but still a little playful....mature but fun. And still a creamy feeling to it. Like this a lot more than I expected. I may have to buy a bottle!

    Kali

In the bottle: At first there was some strong chocolate but it was quickly overtaken...by a wine/lotus smell. It's not mixing that well to my nose. Hopefully it'll be better on. Wet: Very floral...blended floral. Can't pick out individual notes, nor can I decided if I like it or not. Will see how much it morphs over time... Dry: Reminds me a lot of Moscow. It's a nice floral blend but just not me. I think it's a bit more "adult" that I am at the moment.

    Swank

In the bottle: It does smell like a cocktail. Light, fruity, slightly sugary. Sort of a citrus edge. I sort of want to drink it which is not so great! It's a nice smell but not sure I'd personally want to smell like it. Wet: Someone mentioned is smelling like a sweet tart. I'd have to agree. Something candy-ish about it. And a vague hint of laundry detergent? Dry: There's still a light fruity note that fits well with its namesake but there's an undernote of my laundry detergent which is odd so...off to swaps it goes!

    Black Cat

Going into this having no idea what this is supposed to smell like...I'll mostly be way off on the ingredients I'm sure! In the bottle: A little spicy and vaguely warm. About as specific as I can be. Wet: A little citrus coming out? And something that smells a little stale. I suppose it could be catnip, would make sense...some kind of herb. And some rose. Not loving it, not hating it. Rather indifferent about the scent. Dry: Turns herbally and combined with the rose smells a bit old lady-ish for me. Happy I tried it but not me at all.

    Namaste

A lovely frimp which I would never have chosen to try but am happy to do so now that I've got my hands ona sample! In the bottle: Lots of incense...guessing that's the patchouli but probably also the sandalwood. Some lemongrass in the background. I get the oddest note of hazelnut in the background but I think I must be imagining that. Wet: Incense has faded a lot actually which is rather nice since I don't enjoy patchouli or sandalwood very much. A lot of lemongrass now, however. Also a rather warm wood note in the background...I kind of like it even though I'm not really into woodsy scents either. Dry: Wow, this smells like lemon pine sol mixed with incense. Not liking this a bit. Will go into the swap pile...but this could be a nice scent on someone else. Someone who enjoyed incense would like this much more. I think my skin amps up the lemongrass as well.

    White Rabbit

In the bottle: Hello pepper! Rather strong pepper. Something light behind it, not sure what. Some sort of light floral? Wet: The pepper has faded somewhat. So unique an I can't describe it...I think the vanilla is starting to come out in the background and there's still some sort of white floral. Dry: Soft & sweet. Every now and then it smells like vanilla cake. Doesn't really seem like me but I still like it so...I'll be keeping the imp for sure. I have a feeling this scent will grow on me.

    The Dormouse

Not really sure what to expect from this one, but here I go! In the bottle: Something very green and...lemony? Wet: Something crisp and fresh...perhaps a green apple scent? But there's an element of it that smells like bathroom cleaner to me which is very unexpected. And a really nice soft floral is in there too, but it's faint. Dry: For a while the lemon really stood out but now it's faded. This is a rather soft scent but a clean almost refreshing one. Not entirely sure what I can compare it too...liking it so much better now than I did at the beginning! I think I'm going to have to keep the imp and try it again to fully decide how much I like it.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Ok, please excuse my long reply to everyone...but it needed to be done! Ok Jack is definitely at the top of my list right now. It sounds scruptious! And even though I'm not sure I want to smell like something I want to eat (in a moment of spacing I might actually try and nibble my arm) but I simply can't resist actually smelling it. Oh nice, adding those two to the list as well! Perhaps I should actually post the list at the end of this. I'm oddly getting excited for fall now...and summer hasn't even fully hit! Hmm, yeah The Hesperides looks like a risk scent fo rme...but may be worth it! The scent does seem perfectly fall. I'm not entirely sure if I like oak but it's worth a shot. Hamadryad? Hmm, I should look that up in teh reviews but...another for the list! I hadn't though about dirt scents! I've actually never smelled one. It seems an odd thing to like but maybe it will surprise me. It seems to be a fairly popular scent. I'll have to get my hands on one of those...probably going to have to be a GC scent. No more falling in love with LE scents for me! Hmm, Bliss is an interesting choice. Once again I'm a bit afraid that I'll want to eat myself but...it would certainly be comforting! ---- Thanks for the links! Yeah the orders will probably start coming out faster. However, I'm about to leave for Paris for a month so I'll actually be in the middle of summer by the time I could place this order. And I'd like to get it in before I move to the city (it would just make things a bit easier). Also, adding your suggestions to the list! Especially Verdandi. --- I don't think my skin amps it, I just think the scent in general isn't pleasing to me. But so many people do find it wonderful that...well I must add it too! Light myrrh? Interesting...didn't know that was possible May have to try this too even if just for the name. i used to be obsessed with her. Man I want to go to Egypt. Thanks for the suggestion guys!

    Oneiroi

In the bottle: Hello Lavender! Pretty much all I get...goodness! Wet: Lavender...and what I'm guessing is Jasmine. Dry: Same mix but with a little spice to it (can't quite figure out what). It does go a bit soapy on me. I think this would be an excellent smell to go to sleep by...but really anything with lavender I would consider a good choice. However, I personally only use scents as perfume so I'll put this one in swaps.

    Moscow

In the bottle: Spicy floral...the rose the only distinguishable scent for me at this point. Wet: Certainly an adult scent. A mature floral. Blends all together pretty well. Some spice/incense to it. Dry: A really nice mature floral. But I'm simply not that mature. My 21 years still make me lean towards more innocent and girly scents. I like it though, may keep the imp.

    Envy

Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender. In the bottle: Mint and lavendar right off the bat...when they blnded though it addly smelled like chocolate mint! Which is kind of nice but not at all what I was expecting. Wet: mint, lavendar, and once again chocolate...doesn't smell particularly green on me even though other people have mentioned it Dry: There's a new note that I can't quite name. Slightly floral and smells a bit like soap. Still the lavendar and mint. I actually like this more than I was expecting but it's not a scent I'd actually wear. Could be a nice room scent though. It makes me have chocolate cravings though!

    La Belle Dame Sans Merci

I'm going into this blind. I can't remember at all what this is supposed to smell like bt perhaps that's a good thing? In the bottle: Green and floral and...like cleaning fluid? It got an almost piercing chemical note which makes no sense. Maybe lemongrass? (or I could have no idea what I'm talking about?) Wet: This is so familiar but I can't find the words to describe it. Very citrus to me, and a bit green. The floral has all but vanished. Dry: Just more lemon chemical scent. Really not enjoying this. I'm going to have to go wash this off...probably should wait longer for the drydown but if I don't like it now I don't see what could change it so much that I'd be willing to go through the unpleasant stages again.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

I knew Jack would be suggested! It screamed fall when I looked at the description. I'm a October baby anyway so pumpkins always make me happy. My only worry is that I'm not entirely sure what cloves smell like. But I think I should try it anyway because the other scents look yummy! Florence was actually on my wishlist but now I'll have to put extra stars next to it. I think my problem is that frequently when people say "spices" it turns out to be incense notes and not what I consider spices. But I'm flexible. I love Utrennyaya and it has Sandalwood in it which I thought I'd never like. The iris, amber, and berries, however, make it look like a nice scent. Oh I love this community! The Hesperides looks a wee bit woodsy to me. Is it? Sometimes the ingredients don't line up with the smell. Tamora and March Hare do have that apricot/peach note which I seem to like...I'll have to add those too! And yeah I think of warm spices as well...which is tricky as I've said because of what certain people deem "spices". But if this community has taught me anything, it to try everything! I appreciate the suggestions, thank you! (also happy to see that some of the scents coming might work for fall) Ok, I'm really looking forward to my order now! Poor labbies getting settled in. I think The Lion may have to be the first one I try though. It's gotten so many good recs and now that I know it would be a good scent...so excited! And a second vote for march hare. Interesting, I hadn't thought about it bu I'll have to give it a shot now! And thanks for the list that you're trying! I've written them down. Some of them I'll have to look up again because my memory is a little shoddy. I actually have white rabbit here though waiting to be tested. Better move that up the list! It's only a partial imp though and I'd definitely have to order more if I fall for it. Pun not intended. I don't make my scents coordinate with the weather on purpose but I know that when it gets colder and begins to snow, I'm not going to want the same light florals. It simply won't fit my mood. I'll want something mroe warm and cozy. That's 3 for 3 on The Lion! Still happy to know there will probably be some fall scents waiting for me when I get back from my summer vacation. I do remember The Great Sword of War looking intriguing. I've added it to my list and will go back to the reviews once more. Plus, the name is just so fun! A lot of people seem to like Velvet. I admit I was put off by seeing that there was myrrh in it. But you don't think it's very strong? I may just have to check it out then! Yeah for the swap list! Thanks for the tips

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Yes, I realize I'm way early but...well I'm still waiting on my first ever BPAL order and figure that maybe I should order in advance. I have been trading a fair amount though. So here's my dilemma: I have found that I really like the following scents: Aglaea Pele Red Lantern Utrennyaya However, outside of maybe red lantern they don't seem like fall scents. Based on those could you recommend something I might like that would suit the fall/winter season? I think red lantern would work but it's LE so I'd like something I could wear more frequently. (I must say I turned out to be a lot more feminine and girly than I expected but those are my favorites so far...) WARNING: I don't like woodsy or incense scents (I've found this out because of incidents with cedar, patchouli, and myrrh) Also these are the scents coming from the lab when they are back up and running: Szepasszony, Xiuhtecuhtli, Juliet, Katharina, Carnal, La Belle au Bois Dormant, The Lady of Shalott, O, The Lion, The Hanging Garden, Morocco, Dorian, Bathsheba, and The Mock Turtle's Lessons. Will any of those be fall worthy? I really appreciate any and all suggestions!

    Aglaea

Three golden ambers, bright musk, peach wine and myrtle. In the Bottle: Champagne...and mint? Peach background. Wet: Still smells like there's mint in it to me. Still champagne top note and the peach. Very light and beautiful. Dry: The mint has gone away, who knows where it came from. Light peach champagne. Wonderfully refreshing. Gets a little richer as time goes one but still a refreshing light fruit scent. May just have to order a bottle of this to get me through the summer!

    Has No Hanna

In the bottle: A sharp, bright floral. Can't really place the scent but it smells rather familiar. Wet: How I do love florals! A very pretty scent. Definitely some white floars in there but they're mixing with something a bit...more sophisticated. Really lovely, and I think it's already putting me in a good mood! Dry: There are still some very beautiful top notes but...there's something sort of sour underneath now. Something turned on my skin but I'm not sure what. It actually smells like something foody but I can't think of what right now. Something in a Chinese restaurant. Anyhoo, not liking it and the new note isn't making me too happy so off to the swaps it goes!

    Imp

First off, I have to say that I was surprised when I saw the color of the perfume. It looks like coca-cola! It made me question whether I'd gotten the right scent or not but...well, why shouldn't it be that colot? But anyhoo, on to the review... In the bottle: Sweet incense. I'm guessing that's the peach and patchouli but I'm not the best at picking out notes. Wet: Ugh, patchouli and nothing else. I'm very much not an incense kind of girl. Sadly not of the playful peach I was expecting. Maybe in the drydown... Dry: Some of the peach came out which is nice. Smells like sweet patchouli now. Still not a fan of the patchouli though so this will have to go in the swap pile. (thank you to filigree_shadow for the frimp! I'd been wanting to test it.)

    Persephone

In the bottle: Oddly enough the first whiff smelled like pure alcohol. However, the second whiff smelled of roses...old roses. Wet: All I get is rose, and it's not a rose I like. It's very damp and almost rotting. Nothing beyond the roses. Dry: Sadly it's basically the same as when wet. All rose...it mellows a bit over time but it still smells damp and as if it's about to go bad. No pomegranate which is a bummer. Overall I think I'll pass. If I want a rose scent I'll go with black rose.

    Cordelia

I really wanted to love this! But sadly it's a no go... In the bottle: Smells a bit bitter and mossy? (maybe the cedar?) Not at all what I was expecting. Wet: Come out as strong cedar on me, then a soft floral note developed in the background but the cedar still dominant. Dry: Mostly the same as when wet. A little bit of musk added to the mix...smooths it out a little. Still woody scents and I do not get along and this has a lot of cedar.

    French Love

In the Bottle: Spices. A bit of cherry cough syrup and slight floral hint to it. Sweet but not too sweet. Wet: Everything is blending surprisingly well and it's hard to pick out individual notes. It's sweet with an edge, and slightly soapy...if that makes any sense. Dry: Definite cherry note, but not to the point where I want to gag which was what I was fearing. There's a slight kick to the scent. Not bad but I still don't think it's me. Could not test the voodoo properties sadly.
  21. neuilly

    Black Rose

In the bottle: Rich rose...something slightly dark in the background but I can't quite pick it out. Wet: Definitely an adult rose. Almost the smell of dried roses, red ones. There's also something else I can't quite place...it's almost got that high ting that white florals do but it doesn't smell like white floral. Gives the scent a small kick (but not a spice). Dry: Damp rose petals. A rather lovely scent, not too girly. Like it but don't love it.
  22. neuilly

    Red Lantern

In the imp (decant): Hello caramel!! Also some tobacco traces. Pretty much it. Wet: More scents are coming out...and starting to blend rather quickly. I got a strong whiff of something floral? but now it's virtually disappeared. Still some caramel out in front...and something that smells like potpourri? (not sure how to spell that) Dry: Mostly caramel and tobacco although when I put my nose close to my wrist there's something lighter (still smells like a white floral), and my mouth is now watering. Smells delicioius but it's just not me
  23. This isn't exactly the topic but I think it's close enough...let me know if I'm wrong. But are there scents similar to Utrennyaya?
  24. neuilly

    Utrennyaya

Given to me as a frimp in a trade...no idea what to expect from this. In the Bottle: Fairly minty and something else I can't quite identify but it feels a little dirt-y. Wet: More floral comeing through but there's still a strong mint smell. Doesn't have quite the sting I would normall consider mint to have...probably calmed down by the floral. I've always shied away from sandalwood scents but I can't even pick it out here! Perhaps it's just red sandalwood I don't like... Dry: The mint has actually faded a bit but is still present. It's a lovely floral scent and seems absolute perfect for the spring/summer. Verdict: I'm fairly new to BPAL but this is my favorite scent yet! And it hasn't morphed into anything icky. If this is still the case when I go to bed tonight, I may just have to order myself a bottle! Oh the beauty of frimps. Edit: I definitely need a bottle of this when I get the money. So clean and crisp, and floral without being extremely "girly". On me the florals blend well and I can't pick out any particular scent. I also can't pick ou tthe sandalwood (which is good). The tiniest tinge of mint is still in the background. I do agree that this is a perfect scent for what it is. Someone mentioned it being "cold" and in a way it is...not frigid, but distant like the star itself. Clearly I'm still in love with this scent!
  25. neuilly

    Belle Époque

Oh, I love the idea behind this perfume! I'm a little leary of the Sandalwood, however. Well, we'll see how this goes... In the bottle: Oh yeah, there's the sandalwood. Definitely teh dominant scent for me. I do catch a bit of mandarin and lily of the valley though...a subtle softness in teh background. Like a young girl trying to hide her innocence. I know, odd description but that's what came to mind. Wet: Lots of sandalwood...and vaguely pine scented which is very odd. And a little lily of the valley in the background. Dry: The whiffs I keep getting are much more floral and fruity then when I smell from up close. I rather like the scent without the sandalwood...but I still can't decide how much I like it. The sandalwood is still there although it's moved to the background. I'll have to wait and see if it stays that way until it fades away or if it'll turn to incense on me. *crosses fingers* Overall though it's a lovely scent and it fits it's titles perfectly.
