    Grand Guignol

There's a faint apricot in the background but on me this mostly just smells bitter. I can't identify a note but...everytime I smell it I make a face, definitely not for me.

The Bow & Crown of Conquest

I agree with someone who wrote that it smells a bit like generic men's after shave...there's some note in there that reminds me of it but I don't know what note it is! The cedar is definitely the dominant note. But there's a sweet edge...vanilla? I like it but it's masculine and not for me.

    Faustus

A slightly cinnamon light frankincense powder?! And there's a sweet edge to it. Wow, I can't even figure out how to describe this;. Fascinating scent but not really my thing. The violets definitely come out more as the scent remains on my skin... and wow I just had a flashback to my childhood, I completely smell like my godmother did.

    Grandmother of Ghosts

Straight off the bat is was pure wood on me...so not a note I enjoy. As time went on the wood got a powdery edge to it followed by some light fruit. The wood, however, remained dominant.

    Abhisarika

Very elegant, comes off a bit like expensive rose soap. There is a beautiful orchid edge to it though.

    Svadhinaopatika

Wow, this is nothing like I was expecting...or the decant was mislabeled! I have incense and bark all the way and absolutely none of the sweetness others have mentioned. I get no honey or amber It reminds me of the occult store, and is not at all my type of scent. Alas!

    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

Slightly sharp orange blossom is definitely the dominant note on me...and there's a cram note on the background. Soft and psychotic I can see! But the sharp blossom isn't sitting too well with me.

    Languor

Smells a bit like expensive soap. Very hazy, comforting scent that does indeed make me want to lay around and be a bum...good thing I don't have work today! Different from the scents I have, so I'll be keeping the imp around to see how much I really do like it.

    Dance of Death

As usual, the patchouli completely takes over everything on me! It's also a very dry scent...maybe a hint of dry wood? And a dash of spice. But mostly patchouli. My skin chemistry strike again!

    Fenris Wolf

Wood and sandalwood...not a very complicated scent on me. Cedar? Reminds me of my hamster cage which always makes me think it must be cedar. Not my kind of scent at all but always glad to have frimps to try!

    Kyoto

A nice, light, sweet scent but unfortunately I'm not a big fan of anise. Otherwise I really like it...definitely recommended to anyone who likes anise.

    The Hanged Man

Very first impression on my skin: this smells like a fruity Glade scent. Like an air freshener... no that pretty much stays my impression. It's a nice light and fruity scent but I can't shake that I smell like a room scent. I don't actually use tarot oils for any purpose so I'm going at it purely from a perfume oil stand point. Maybe if I had a burner I'd use this as a room scent.

    Ace of Pentacles

This is a very earthy scent. Dirt, pine, pretty much what everyone else is saying. It's completely not the kind of thing I would pick out to try but I got it as a frimp. I'm really surprised by how comforting it feels. It makes me feel very mellow and content. As I said, earthy scents are not my thing but if I was to pick one, this would be it!

    Melisande, The Puppet Mistress

At first this was a really mature jasmine scent...I'm assuming it was the musk that made it feel so mature to me. The vanilla and violet didn't seem to play a big role to be although I think they helped round out the jasmine and musk. Unfortunately this ended up going powdery on me which is so odd because none of the notes normally does that on me. Alas!

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

This is a bit too heavy on the patchouli for me, it's simply not a note I can pull off. However, I love the scent without the patchouli note! Red musk with a touch of plum and vanilla, mmm. But the patchouli gives it a gritty earthy feel that really isn't my style.

    Hellfire

Ok, I must have the weirdest chemistry because this turns almost completely into honey on me. Someone earlier on this page mentioned something similar so I'm not completely crazy. When I first put it on it smelled wonderfully like smoldering firewood...but then the honey (?) took over and it's just an overwhelmingly sweet scent. When I put my nose right next to my skin it smells amazing - musky and leather-y. It's smells like a perfect scent if you ignore that sweet top note that my skin is amping. Must convince a nearby boy to try this on...

    Whitechapel

For the first 5-10 minutes this smells like lemon wet towelettes...well, ok, lemon/lime wet towelettes, but it's not the greatest scent. It then goes into a very brief lemon candy phase, But then... After about 10-15 minutes the sharp citrus blend fades into the background and the lilac and musk come out to play! I'm rather oving this scent...I look quite ridiculous because I'm at work and I keep sniffing myself. This is mostly lilac and musk on me but there seems to be some sort of slightly sweet note to it that I can't place for the life of me. I also get that slightly powedery feel that others have mentioned. The musk note lasts the longest, but all together this is a very beautiful scent. Technically I would say that this is a gender neutral scent but I can't think of any guys I know who would wear it.

    Midnight on the Midway (2006)

This is quite the morpher on me! In the beginning I thought I smelled vanilla?! It quickly changed to a rather dark and heady floral. Thern there was a powdery stage. Now it's a soft feminine and slightly powdery floral with a sugar edge. I keep wavering on whether or not I should keep it. It doesn't seem very "me" but I do keep sniffing at my wrist.

    Port Royal

Warm wood with a dash of spice. It's oddly making me think of Christmas. It smells really good actually and I was fully expecting not to like it. I keept sniffing my wrist! I'm not really a woods girl so I'll probably pass it on but...I highly recommend it for people who enjoy wood notes!

    The Brides of Dracula

I don't know why or how but this ended up smelling very close to white rabbit on me. In the beginning it was a bit more floral and in the middle it got very woody. Interesting but I wasn't blown away by it...very surprised at how similar it was to white rabbit on me!

    Eos

Very feminine and floral. I'm getting a pretty even mix of Jasmine and Honeysuckle. It's a little too much *pure* floral for me but I'm liking the scent anyway...trying to think hard of someone who could where this!

Scents close to Alabaster (Banana Republic)?

Jacobs Ladder...naturally one that's hard to find! I'll keep my eye out for some though, thanks for the suggestion. I've made a list of the GCs to try...and I'll be back later for a more in-depth response. Thanks guys!
  23. I have no clue what's in that scent but if anyone has smelled it, I'd love to know what you think is in it and which BPAL scents are close to it! ...and really any amber scents too. I really like Brisingamen but I'm worried I'm not quite mature enough to pull it off.

    Bengal

A sultry and unruly blend that emulates the ambient scent of the markets in ancient Bengal: skin musk with honey, peppers, clove, cinnamon bark and ginger. There's a fairly strong honey note in the beginning but it fades fairly quickly. Cinnamon is strong and reminds me a lot of chai. I like it...but I don't think I love it.

    Pride

On me this is very ripe rose! Pretty much just rose though...not bad but fresh rose isn't really me.
