  1. I greatly appreciate everyone's help! darklorelei: Ive been eyeing Shanghai for a while now, may have to check it out and include it in my next order. As for Two, Five, and Seven I recieved it as a frimp in my first order and it is a lovely citrusy scent but alas vaporizes almost instantly outside. One of my many dissappointments. Been thinking of making it into a lotion in hopes that will add some longivity. fiction tragedy: Embalming fluid sounds like a winner, since anything tea like seems to stand a chance in this heat. Sudha Sugara has been on my pending list for a while now. Although it seems to have limited staying power it sounds like a lovely bath scent. sarada' date: Szepasszony sounds delightful and is also on my pending list. I will add it to my next order. And I know all about bugspray, since the mosquitoes have arrived here in force and no one is safe. On a funny note I once wore Seraphim to work, and although it was one of the oils that turned into a cloying strong vapor around me, not even one mosquito touched me. Not sure if my body chemistry helped keep them at bay, or the fact that even the mosquitoes couldnt take the smell, but it was an interesting experience. Meg: I will have to check out the ozone scents, since out of the large variety of BPAL I ordered in my first order not a one was ozone. Danube, Lightening and Neo-Tokyo will definetly be added to my next order. So will phobos, since I plan on ordering all the recently revisited Grapefruit scents...I have hope for these as they sound deliciously cool. O is lovely on me when it is cooler outside with wonderful staying power most times. It is great when I wear it out at night and it has cooled down considerably. However, during the heat of the day it doesnt have a chance. It was a sad day when someone literally walked up to me and said I smelled like Playdoh and I had to wash off the precious. The honey makes it just foody enough to go bad. Dorian I certaintly want to try, and hopefully it wont turn in the heat like O since it doesnt contain the honey note. Thanks! judas_kiss: Xiuhtechuhtli doesnt like me personally, in heat or out of heat. It was a shame since I loved it in the Imp. I will have to think on adding Opium Poppy to my order, since another of Rapacini's Garden (Cobra Lilly) seemed to work out for me. I did recieve Obatala in my first order and it seemed to last longer then most, but it soon faded away. However. I did recieve Severin as a frimp in my recently delivered Carnival order, so I will check that out. I have hopes since you say it is teaish. Will report back on the outcome. northatlantic: Embalming fluid seems to be the most recommended so Im almost ready to splurge on a 5 ML. Neo-Tokyo is also a go on my next order. And I will have to troll Ebay and the forums here for any Spirits of the Dead. You have me intrigued! Not at all a dumb question! You do have a strong point. Well I listed a few above, like O and Seraphim that turned gagworthy. When I made my rather large Imp order I was careful to order pretty much one of every type, and so far pretty much all of them cannot take the humidity. The main offenders I can remember off the top of my head which almost blew anyone over near me: O, Seraphim, Bordello, Sophia, Athens (which is my favorite around the house scent), Spellbound, Intrigue, The Hanging Gardens, Saint-Germaine, MonsterBait: Closet, Gluttony, Black pearl and Im many im forgetting. The ones that dissappeared completely are Shango, Queen Mab, Pride, Delerium, Blood Countess, Nefertiti, Zombi, Bathsheba, Vice, Othello, Obatala, Two, Five and Seven and anything that was a light floral that I am forgetting. Kali also didnt last, but it never did even before the heatwave. I *know* food-y scents just wont work for me right now, unless im looking for the a people repellant, and light citrus/florals just have no staying power beyond a minute. Of course this wont stop me from wearing my new Midway out and about today, but since its a lighter foody smell maybe I will luck out. styro: Heh, the two of you make me want to take out Xiuhtecuhtli and give it a second go. Pele sounds like a winner, since I have taken to wearing a body spray that contains Hawaiian Ginger until I found a BPAL that works in this humidity. Will add that to my order. Subtle sounds great, as I want to gently waft to others not knock them over in a cloud of smell. shadith: Now I have two LE's to hunt down! Although Ive been intrigued by Lick It for a bit now, and would love to own a perfume by this name. Even if it didnt work out for the summer months it would still be nice to own as part of my collection. Thank you everyone! I know Im getting Embalming Fluid, Neo-Tokyo, Szepasszony, Danube, Lightening, Pele, Opium Poppy, Shanghai, Phobos and all of the Grapefruit scents. Contemplating making Embalming Fluid into a 5 ML, and I already plan on getting a 5 ML of Dorian. Ill also be keeping an eye out for the two LE's recc'ed. Heh, if I get anymore wonderful recc's ill probably end up with 4 imp-pack orders.
  2. I had to stop wearing Bpal for two months now. Sadly, out of the 100's of Imps/bottles I have ordered only two is wearable in my climate right now. On a normal day its around 100 here but thats not the problem as much as the killer humidity. I live in one of the most humid spots on earth, its literally like a jungle around here most days. One of two things happen when I apply bpal in these conditions. The fiirst one being that it sweats off in seconds. Literally sniff, walk outside and poof all gone. Or it tends to vaporize into a cloud of cloying, sickening smell...morphing into something gag worthy. I actually had people running away from me, even when I was applying very sparingly. And I can just say forget it to foody scents at this time. Does that mean my days of Bpaling are over until fall? Does anyone have experience with extreme humidity and which bpal oils can actually with stand it? Ive tried some so called 'summer scents' and those never last. Cobra lilly and the recently delivered Dragon Moon are the only ones that last and dont gag everyone around me. Since Dragon Moon was very tea-like on me would anyone recommend Dorian? Anyone have any other oils they could recommend? Pretty much Im hesitant to make another large order for Bpal and not be able to wear any of them for months yet. So if any of you bpalers have encountered my problem and were able to find a solution help would be greatly appreciated!

    Freak Show

I was nervous when ordering this because fig? And cocoa? But it was to intriguing to pass up. This is delicious! On me it all blends together so wonderfully! It is faintly foody, but more subtle then most foody oils. Glad I bit the bullet and ordered this.

    Snake Charmer

MMMM.... At first application it smelled all sugary vanilla. It was strong too, if I moved my arm around me the smell wafted heavily in the air. An hour later.... Ok when did the medicinal smell kick in? I began to wonder if I accidentally got some Freak show on my wrist when I was testing that on another part of my body. Maybe the two dont mix well? So I scrubbed my arm and reapplied snake charmer. And I got the same medicinal smell! But I was not giving up. I left that thing on for another hour and finally here comes the vanilla again and...is that cinammon? I love the beginning, I love the end but the middle left much to be desired. I ended up scrubbing it off and wearing Dragon Moon out today. Ill have to try it again tomorrow, because I loved the end phase but the middle...bleh.

    Midway

By far my favorite food scent. Very foody but not as strong as similar scents tend to be. Im mostly getting something that smells extremely cotton candyish. Not getting much of anything else except a faint wiff of something buttery. But thats ok because if it was any more yummy I would be licking my wrist. I put it on hours ago after washing off Dragon Moon and its still as strong as first application. Definetly on my top 10 list.

    Dragon Moon 2006

In Imperial China, the Dragon was the symbol of the Emperor’s power, and to this day, the concept and the image of the Dragon is considered sacrosanct. The Dragon is a symbol of power, the Lord of weather and water. The Dragon Moon celebrates the glory and vigor of Springtime: dragon’s blood resin, tea leaf, bamboo reed, sandalwood and cherry blossom. Finally recieved my package today! Dragon moon was the first one I opened and tried. I have to say I have no clue what Dragon's Blood smells like, but I suspect it's not at all strong in this scent. In the bottle it smells like tea. Very nice. When I put it on it smells very lemony and herbal. I love it! Not at all what I would imagine from this oil but it is still very lovely. Although I imagine the smell does bring on an oriental atmosphere. Also, I put it to the humdity test today. I live in south texas and in one of the most humid areas on the planet (seriously) and lately I havent been able to wear any of my bpal out because it either 1.) sweats off almost immediatly or 2.) becomes so cloying and strong it sickens everyone around me (I had to wash off Monsterbait: closet after I literally made someone gag. They loved it when I first had them sniff it but after a hour outside forget it.) Very sad when something that smells so lovely goes to waste on the skin! But this was the first oil besides Cobra Lilly that lasted for hours out in the heat and didnt become a cloud of vapor around me. AA++

In the vial: Woah...so Im guessing thats Civet? Wet: Strong and masculine, yet also delicious. Dry on wrists: I hear bad things about civet but im really digging this so far. *Very* strong. Im thinking the musk is balancing out the civet? 30 mins later: Wow, my friend across the room just asked me what I had on and i barely dabbed it on my arm. Throw is amazing. Hour later: I cant stop sniffing my arm. Still as strong as when I first applied it. Closing thoughts: Even though its definetly masculine in nature, I would still wear this. If im in a mood where I want everyone around me to be able to smell me, this would definetly be what I put on. Very nice and may have to buy a 5 ML once winter comes along, as this is not a summer scent to me.

    Kali

In the vial: Not able to smell any particular notes, except maybe chocolate. Wet: This is so nicely blended im still not able to make out any particular notes. It's sweeter then I expected it to be. Dry on wrists: It has grown a bit more musky, very nice. 30 mins later: Wait is it gone already??? Hour later: Um ok this is doing strange things on me. One minute it will fade to nothing, and then the next it is very strong. Closing thoughts: LOVED this. Im amused that it kept fading and coming back...although Im not sure about wearability if it keeps alternating like that. Will have to try this once more tosee if this was a one time thing.

    The Hanging Gardens

In the vial: A heady fruit syrup. Wet on wrists: Mostly floral, loving the gardenia Dry on wrists: Yumm...pear. All im smelling is gardenia and pear at this point. 30 mins later: Pure pear with something floral. Not gardenia maybe plumeria? Hour later: Faded and I have to press my nose to my wrist to get anything at all. Closing thoughts: This is beautiful but has no lasting power on me. Sadly this is a problem to me since I *have* to smell the perfume on myself. Still, very great scent while it lasted.

    Black Pearl

In the vial: Musky coconut Wet on wrists: Very musky. I am not getting any coconut Dry on wrists: This smell is reminding me of something...oh yeah a body spray I used to own called Ocean Mist. Guess they are on target with the aquatic. 30 mins later: Still no coconut but the musk is very nice. Hour later: Finally sweeting a bit with the coconut. Closing thoughts: Faded soon after an hour. I would love this as a bath scent and maybe when I go walking on the beach. Very nice but I couldnt see myself wearing this daily. Will definetly use the imp.

    Bordello

In the vial: Wow thats some strong plum. Wet: Yum....plum and amaretto. Reminds me of juicy, fruity candy. Dry: If the description didnt mention that this contained wine, I would never know. This oil is all about the plum and amaretto on me. 30 mins later: Im loving this. Who knew fruity candy could be so sensual? Hour later: Sadly, this has faded almost completely. And when I applied I had put quite a bit on. Too bad because I loved this. May have to make a perfume spray out of this, hopefully it would last longer that way. Closing thoughts: I liked this very much, but couldnt see myself buying a 5 ML of this unless I can find a way to make this scent last longer. Although, on a whim I layered some of this with O. It turned out amazing! Together they are the height of sexual pleasure. Hmm...maybe I will buy a 5 ML after all, if not only for layering.

    O

In the vial: Sweet honey. To me this is more innocent then alluring. Smells wonderful! Wet: Yep almost pure honey to me. Which is not a bad thing. Dry: Ah so that is what Amber smells like! Getting the amber and the honey but no vanilla. 30 mins later: Kind of powdery and clean smelling. Smells comforting but not really sexual. Hour later: Did I say this didnt smell sexual! I take it all back. The powder smell passes and im finally getting the vanilla in a very small dose. The amber and honey have blended into a very alluring scent. I didnt know it was possible, but its stronger now then when I first applied it. Closing thoughts: To me O went on its own sexual journey on my skin. From lovely sweetness, to powdery innocence, to utter sexuality. An hour and a half later, it smells like I just had a romp in bed where one of us whipped out the honey. Sooner or later, I will get a 5 ML of this.

    Blood Countess

In the vial: Fruity and very floral. God I hope this loves my chemistry because I have a feeling this may be one of my favorites. Wet: The berry is really sticking out and im definitely smelling plum and rose. Dry: Dark, damp rose. Still somewhat fruity, but the floral has taken over. 30 mins later: I cant stop sniffing my wrist, the rose in this is wonderful. I think im getting Gardenia too, but I cant be too sure. Hour later: Who knew rose could smell so wonderful! Great throw on me as well. Closing thoughts: Yep, 5 ML bottle of this in my next order. This oil was darkly satisfying. This is a very non traditional floral scent, nothing my grandmother would wear. Definetly will end up on my top 5.

    Vice

In the vial: Bitter chocolate with orange. Promising. Wet: Very citrus smelling, not really getting the chocolate. Dry: Theres the chocolate but Im not liking it at all. The orange and chocolate are smelling kind of generic and medicinal. 30 mins later: Smells like this doll I had when I was little, where the hair smelled like orange blossoms. Good memories, but I didnt really like the smell then and I dont think I do now either. Hour later: Wow, this stuff has enormous throw on me. Out of all the scents ive tried on various parts of my arm, this is the one that is wafting up. It's to bad Im not liking it at all. Closing thoughts: Its a shame, this oil had promise in the bottle. I really couldnt see myself wearing this anywhere. But I think my chemistry hates chocolate, since I also disliked Bliss on my skin. Maybe Ill try to make a room scent? Update: I have tried to wash this stuff off but I am having no luck. Ive washed my wrists with 3 different hand soaps, used my strong body wash, used dish soap...nothing. Just took another quick bath in some strong oils and scrubbed my wrist mercilously and figured that would do the trick. But no, its still there. Gah. Now thats some staying power...

    Monster Bait: Closet

New at the reviewing but I just got my first order and I went crazy trying them out. In the bottle: Yum! Am I smelling cake frosting? Wet: Berries! Frosting! No bourbon yet (at least nothing thats sticking out noticeably), but that's fine Im content with what Im smelling so far. Dry: Still getting the delicious berry buttercream. But now the boozy smell is there. Didnt think I could love this anymore, but I am. 30 mins later: Exactly the same as the initial dry down. Faded a bit though, but since I barely dabbed it on my arm that could be a factor. Hour later: I need cake. Now. To hell with my diet . It is still there, but will have to wear this out soon to see how long it would last when I slather it on. Closing thoughts: I had put my wrist up to my sister's nose a minute ago for her give me her thoughts, and she did a double take and grabbed the bottle and headed off into my room. Apparantly she went in there and slathered herself with my precious Monster Bait: Closet. And she *hates* perfume of any type and when I made her smell the other scents I tried she loathed them all. So while I have yet to lure any monsters out my closet, I did entice my perfume hating sister to steal it lock herself in a room with it. I would have to say success! And I have a feeling im going to have to lock this away somewhere, or else shes going to take it all.

    Gluttony

In the bottle: I *hate* the smell of maple syrup. And Im smelling it. Had to go outside for a bit to get the smell out of my nose. Wet: Maple syrup still, but Im smelling toffee? I can stand it at this point Dry: Oh thank the gods the maple smell is gone. Was it the hazelnut Ive been smelling the whole time? Caramel and toffee has taken over. Not getting any chocolate or vanilla at all. 30 mins later: It smells like candy! It must be the toffee. Whatever it is I love it! Im smelling something creamy too. Hour later: Long lasting, seriously. Im getting no throw, but since I just did a dab it probably isnt the best test. Smells like a candy shop in the mall I used to walk by as a kid and stare into with longing. Closing thoughts: Im so glad I tried this instead of throwing it across the room like I almost did. (There really are no words to express how much the scent of maple syrup sickens me.) It really is amazing how much a scent can morph from bottle unto skin. I couldnt see myself wearing this out, but this will be my comfort scent I think. Im on a diet and I think when I have a killer craving for candy, Ill just put this on. Maybe it will help.

    Athens

My second bpal I tried out of my first order... In the vial: Wine...wine...wine. Pretty much all Im getting, but im not really familar with the smell of myrrh so If i was smelling it I couldnt tell you. Wet on wrists: Wine has pretty much owned this oil, not getting any honey at all. Still smells nice though. Dry on wrists: And finally the honey has arrived. Honey and something floral drenched in wine. Wine is still the strongest note here. 30 mins later: Wine has died down and honey is now the strongest scent here and something almost bitter...myrrh? Whatever it is it mellowed the wine for which im grateful. Hour later: This thing has strength and throw. The bitter smell is gone and the wine is back, but the wine and the honey have blended into something very nice. Closing thoughts: When I first put it on, I expected it to be something I liked but would wear rarely. Its now 2 hours later and its still as strong as my first application, although the smell has morphed into something beautiful. I think the wine and honey were battling it out for a while, but when they settle down the mixture is wonderful. I also get what has to be the myrrh, because it's in no way floral. Bitter yet spicey? Ill have to look up what a single note of myrrh smells like. I could totally see myself wearing Athens this summer.

    Bathsheba

My first BPAL I ever tried...so this will also be my first review . So bare with me. In the bottle: I have to admit, since this was my first BPAL scent I ever tried, I recoiled from the bottle. Not because I disliked it, but because I had forgotten just how strong perfume oils are. Resniffing the bottle now, and I smell very heavy carnation (which is a good thing) and some plum. Wet on wrists: Oh yeah there is the carnation. Very strong and very lovely. Not really smelling the other notes, although I am detecting something that isnt plum...maybe the musk? Dry on wrists: Spicy and fruity, that must be the plum showing up and the musk getting stronger. The carnation and plum are a lovely combination. 30 mins later: It just keeps getting spicier and I just keep loving it more. The carnation dies down a bit, but just enough to give the musk and the plum some more attention. Hour later: Now I can only smell it when I lift my wrist to my nose. Lasted barely an hour. Of course it could have been that I applied very little (not even really a dab) since the bottle kind of scared me. I think Im going to wear this out today and then edit my opinion on the longivity of Bathsheba...because I love this to much for it to only last an hour. Closing thoughts: I didnt expect to love the carnation in this. Im not really a floral person, but I may have to change my mind after trying this out. Very glad I bought the whole 5 ML on a whim. To me this oil was sophisticated, yet also playful. Like a little girl playing with her mother's perfumes. Sensual, yet innocent. The lab's description was right on target. Updated: Even when slathering, this barely lasted an hour and a half on me. Im am definetly going to have to make a perfume spray of this, in hopes that it will linger longer that way.
