    Chaos Theory VII: Oriental

#216 - not sure how many previous owners this bottle has had but it was full when it arrived on my doorstep. First sniff: strong sweet cotton candy?! That’s..unexpected, but not necessarily a bad thing. Let’s see how this settles on my skin. 15 minutes in: Tonka? Vanilla? Something like that I recognise now the sharp sweetness of the cotton candy is giving way. Also, I smelled something like this before... 30 minutes in: Snow Fairy.. that’s it! This smells exactly like Lush Snow Fairy shower gel on my skin right now o.O 8 hours in: still Snow Fairy, softened and nearly gone. Yummy scent that is totally different from any other bpal I currently own. Totally took me by surprise because this was -not- something I was expecting from an oriental chaos theory. But what a pleasant surprise it was Definitally keeping this one!

    Cacao Pod

Tested this from the imp on both my wrist and inner elbow. The scent stays 'wet' and more present longer on the inner elbow, while after about two/three hours of wear the smell on my wrist is powdery and nearly gone. Wet: strong chocolate and sandalwood Dry-down: this scent went from 'Chocolate!!!' to 'soft dusted cocoa powder' with hints of coconut on me. The boyfriend (no explanation given about notes/name) : it's a warm kind of smell, I like it. (After telling the name and notes) Chocolate? No, I didn't pick that up. Sandalwood and coconut sounds more like what I just smelled. Verdict: I'm not a big foody fan, but I love sandalwood and coconut so I had to try this. I like this smell, but I don't 'bottle-love' it. For me, the sandalwood scent doesn't stick around long enough, and it's a bit too foody for my taste.

    Miskatonic University

The imp of Miskatonic University I tested today was frimped to me and slightly aged. First sniff: Strong, foody, creamy. Too strong for me to make out any single notes. After 5 minutes: Dark sugary coffee caramel. Dry-down: This, on my skin, is not a 'morphing' perfume. Still smells like dark sugary coffee with a generous shot of caramel. It also smells -exactly- like a tradition Dutch hard candy called 'Haagse Hopjes'. Yummy, but I don't see many occasions were I'd want to smell like coffee candy. So no bottle, but my imp will be happily used for those cozy winter nights were I want to stay up just a little longer to finish that 'can't put it down till I finish it' book.

    O

First sniff: honey, dripping down a vanilla pod. Mostly liquid honey, with just the thought of vanilla in there 30 minutes in: the vanilla is gone, but something warm and woodsy is mingling with the honey.. Amber, j'adore. After a couple of hours: sweet warm honey and a bit of mellow amber, the honey outstays the amber and slowly fades away after about six hours. What's strange to me is that the first time I tried this I didn't think much of it. Second time I tried it though, I could appreciate it so much more. Yes, as mentioned before, it IS sexy, it IS cloying, and most of all, it's honey. If you like sweet, warm, honey smells, or if you just like to feel edible, then give this a try, maybe even two tries. You may just love it.
