    Ode on Melancholy

Wet, the white musk is really strong and almost a little soapy. Though the lavender is right behind it, it's an oddly airy lavender, with all the herb removed. It's like the idea of lavender. Some rose comes out after about an hour, along with what I'm guessing is wisteria, but it's very faint. The white musk is really the star of this scent, and that doesn't change at any point.

Cinnamon is obvious, but I'm having trouble picking out the other notes while wet. The amber in this leans vanilla, so that and the sandalwood make a pretty vanilla-sandalwood-esque combo. The patchouli hangs out in the background, flitting around the edges of the perfume. The patchouli reminds me of the one in Masquerade, but less salty and dry. The cinnamon actually gets stronger during drydown, while the amber significantly recedes.

    Scherezade

Sweet, musky spices. This is definitely a sex scent. Wet, it's reminiscent of Snake Oil, with a side of heavy musks. I'm also reminded of new age shops, minus any patchouli. This actually smells really close to a new age store near the house I grew up in. Unfortunately, within about ten minutes it turns soapy on my skin. Really tragic, as I love musky perfume.

Bam, aquatic-y incense straight off the bat. This is not a shy scent. I did look at the notes early- the aquatic I smell is the metal; for some reason BPAL's metal smells watery to me without the usual soapiness of aquatic perfumes. As it dries, the musk appears. With the smokiness of the frankincense (it's a strong one in this), I'm reminded of Streets of Detroit, but much lighter. It dries down to something very musky and metallic, like if Streets of Detroit and Wooden Bullet had a baby.

    Blauer Mond

Kind of suncreen-y wet, this strongly reminds me of... something. Great, thanks ability of olfactory to connect scent memories with actual memories. It becomes more and more herbal as it dries, and though it's already not really something I'd wear every day, it's beautiful and clearly very well-blended. The florals never really pop out in this, and the lavender is strongly herbal, but that just makes it more interesting. The cucumber keeps it fresh, and the frankincense gives it even more depth without coming off incense-y or smoky.

    Bon Vivant

CARBONATION. Immediate first impression. The strawberry is right behind it, more syrupy than straight fruit. It's a fairly simple and straight forward scent, and doesn't really morph on me during drydown.

    Yggdrasil

The World Ash. Nine woods, nine leaves, and three herbs each for Ratatosk and Vidofnir, with three final herbs to placate Nidhogg. Camphor and more camphor. Or menthol. Ish. It's immediately very astrigent. This does mostly fade very quickly, but it doesn't leave much in its place. There's a faint woody note, still covered in the camphor-y menthol-y note (presumably some combination of the herbs listed). As it dries further, it turns into a light wood scent with a kind of cooling affect. As I sniff it, my nose feels colder. After half an hour or so, this suddenly and dramatically changes. The cooling note completely vanishes, leaving behind a warm, lovely, complex wooden scent. It doesn't have much throw, but it's really nice. It smells like walking through a dry forest during summer. The woods are varied and nothing competes for attention.

    Jazz Funeral

Wet, this is all about the booze. As it dries, the florals comes out, followed by dirt. These flowers aren't screeching, but nor are they particularly quiet. The bourbon and rum are still there, but almost immediately lose any alcoholic bite. It sort of ends up a mash of non-alcoholic booze flavors, if that makes sense. The spanish moss is really strong on me- or something I'm guessing is spanish moss is, anyway. It's green and sort of woody, and eventually kind of takes over on my skin. This really reminds me of something else, but I can't quite place it. It's overall a very clean smelling scent, despite the alcohol and greenery. It's not soapy, just clean, comforting, and faintly sweet.

    Bohun Upas

This starts green. A freshly cut plant, but with a slight artistic interpretation. It's sharp without being harsh, and faintly sweet, like sap. Orange is coming to mind as a color, though I'm not sure whether there's any citrus in this. Maybe it's more as a "sunshine through leaves" thing? There's a faint woody note supporting everything. This is lovely wet, even if it's not something I'd wear. As time passes, a drier, almost spicy note comes out- that background woodiness, pumped up. It's reminiscent of cinnamon, though I doubt it's that. Looking at notes: The fruit and musk together must make the sense of spice + warmth. I did pretty well! I like this, but I don't think I'll ever wear it. Also, it reminds me of cooking stores?

    Wooden Bullet

This is so cool. Wet, it's straight up smooth, dark wood. As it dries, a beautiful, almost aquatic note emerges that for once isn't at all soapy. It has a slight heat behind it while remaining cold and solid. Apparently, that's what metal smells like to me. Once I looked at the notes, my reaction was very much "Oh. Yeah, that's definitely brass, wow." Seriously, that brass note is awesome. This is so not something I (queen of soft, moody florals) would normally like, but I kind of adore it just for how well-blended it is. Simple, yet clean and with depth.

    Antique Lace

My first impression is vanilla- lots and lots of vanilla. Vanilla flooding a room made of vanilla with vanilla-scented wallpaper and just lots and lots of vanilla. The color that comes to mind is a very pale and faded gold. It's not really just vanilla, though- it's a powdery vanilla that's almost candy-like (cotton candy?) but not quite. Very creamy, now that I think of it.

    Lady MacBeth

Mmm, yummy. Upon opening the imp, my first impression is that this is sogoodomg, in that it's fruity, with a little wine. The wine isn't really that noticeable, until I realize that that's what the tangy note is. The second it hits my skin, I can really smell the wine and berries (the berries aren't sour, they're sweet), and promptly fall over in a fit of joy. Alas, five minutes later, *POW!*: all I can smell is berry-scented playdough. Even so, this lasts a looong time on me. I put it on eight or nine hours ago, and I still smell playdough. But this isn't a negative review at all. If it did work on my skin, I'd buy a 10ml- a first for me.

    Hemlock

In the bottle, the first thing I thought when the scent hit me was that this was a very, very, VERY strong GREEN. It was pretty much the same on my skin, though I'll have to test it again, to make sure. I didn't get any herbal notes at all, nor did I think it was medicinal. Just really strong pine and something else that was slightly spicy- not in a warm way; it's a cold spicy, if that makes any sense at all. Didn't last long on me at all, maybe forty-five minutes before I really had to really lean down and put my nose an inch away from my wrist to be able to smell it. An hour later, it was completely gone.
