  1. Oh! I have Hell's Belle in a little bag by my bed just begging to be tried! I hope you love it! It will always be a favorite of mine.

    Old books... Books, paper, libraries

Old Moon falls into this category for me and its one of my favorite scents. I love wearing it at night especially.

    Fate's Jester

I didn't expect to like Fate's Jester as much as I did. I found myself reaching for my tester over and over again. This reminded me of Silky Bat, but better. Its an uplifting scent and not too foody. I would love to have a bottle!

    Perfumey scents

Tavern of Hell, Black Butterfly Moon, and I've heard Coin Trick is this way as well - though I haven't tried it!

    The Perfect Lavender

I have been reaching for A Moment in Time. It reminds me of TKO and I love wearing it at night especially. I am anxiously awaiting my bottle of Lavender Lace. I hope to add it to my favorite lavender blends! ETA: Lavender lace didn't give me all that much lavender - mostly tobacco. I will retest again once it settles more.

    Eve

Eve smells like the love child of Gothic Horror and Morocco. I do not care for Morocco and when I saw the comparison in other reviews, I was a little skeptical of purchasing. But this is so much better. Eve is so well blended and is just a beautiful scent. I love this when its first applied and as it blooms on the skin. Im going to have to test it a few more times though because the honeyed powder scent starts to take over on the dry down. Unfortunately honey ruins so many bpals that would otherwise be perfect for me.

    I've never found a scent I liked!

Elf smells just like jelly beans to my nose. Eat me is a delicious vanilla cake scent. Mouse Circus starts out popcorn but morphs to cotton candy! It’s really blows my mind and don’t let the popcorn scare you bc it wears as cotton candy. There are so many gourmand bpals that I know you’ll find something you’ll love!
  8. I'm guessing Eden. Similar but a little more sweet and less earthy. Both are lovely!

    Creamy scents that aren't foody?

I think Hell's Belle falls into that category. I love it so much.

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

Wild Woman with Unicorn looks amazing! Any patchouli lovers try this one?

Deep South, Southern belles, Gone with the Wind...

Curious, is Old New Orleans different from New Orleans? Also, has anyone tried New Orleans v4? There aren't many reviews on it. I want them all!

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

Well you are all full of great suggestions. I already have a bottle of Occupy Wallstreet on the way. Patchouli is everything I love about a scent. It's strong, earthy, sensual, grounding... It's also my husband's favorite scent. We love East African Black Patchouli SN. To wear alone or tolayer. I'm always sneaking it from his bottle!

    Highwayman

Strange. I've never read so many reviews that are sooo different from what I have in this imp labeled Highwayman... Let me first start by saying vetiver is one of my death notes. And I don't detect the slightest drop of it in this. Out of the imp it's all spicy floral. Dries down to a dainty jasmine soap. It makes me think of a light pink soap that is scented in jasmine. That is all I get. Certainly nothing masculine or even borderline unisex. Absolutely no leather. Perhaps there are some other florals in there that disappeared upon application. Maybe if I squint my eyes and inhale really deeply I get a dragons blood (the Bpal kind that smells nothing like real dragons blood but rather lilacs or something) waaay in the background. I don't get it. Is my imp labeled wrong? Batch variation? Weird.

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

I lurvessss that Silky Bat perfume and am on a quest for another bottle (or 2 or 3 etc..)!!! You should try Occupywallstreet if you haven't already- as I find that to be a heavier patch-not as sweet as Silky Bat or Banshee beat Added to my wishlist. Wow do the notes look amazing. Thanks!!!

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

Have you tried Ask the Nearest Hippie. That would have to be one of my top patchouli recommendations. I haven't but I so want to. It looks so good!

BPAL Patchouli - there's nothing else like it

I've been reading through this thread and found some great suggestions! The Grave Pig?! How have I never tried this?!! I really enjoy blends that have East African Black Patchouli, and patchoulis of the darker variety. I just received a bottle of Silky Bat and I was so let down. I was hoping this would be a patchouli lovers dream, but I could only detect it mostly straight out of the bottle. It seemed really light, perfumey, and clean-ish patchouli. It left more traces of musk that earthiness on my skin, too. It's not the dirty kind I like! I think Goblin blows this one out of the water, but that's just me. If you like the patchouli+sweet (which I do). I figure its time to take a look into more GC scents I'm probably missing out on because LE doesn't necessarily mean better. There are some real gems in the GC just waiting to be discovered. Looking forward to updating my wishlist and browsing more of your recs!

GC recs from the past 1-2 years

My favorites: Snake Oil, Dorian, Goblin, Carnaval Diabolique, Chimera, and Hell's Belle. Also, Bewitched is very pretty too.

    Midwinter's Eve

Testing Midwinter's Eve for the first time today. I love it. I generally go for earthy and incensey blends. But you know, sometimes you just crave something lighter and on the sweet side. This is so pretty. I definitely get the comparisons to Bordello. It is simply sugar plums to me! Not very floral to my nose, but there is a little something extra in there, which I am assuming is the breeze of winter flowers.

    Carnaval Diabolique

Carnaval Diabolique.... Funny story. When the Carnaval returned, this was on of my blind bottle orders. The notes seemed amazing and I couldn't resist. Got my package in, barely gave this beauty a chance, and swapped it. At first sniff - woah lemon. Not really me. Some time passes and I come across the scent description again. I began obsessing a little bit and decided I needed to revisit the Carnaval. So I purchased a bottle off the forum. This go round, totally different story.... Carnaval is amazing! I'd put it in my top 5 easy. Wet, its a rush of lemon and opium contending for the spot light. As it begins to dry, all of the other beautiful notes come out to play. The scent turns a little muskier, a little deeper. Wafts of incense emanate from my wrists. The longer it dances on my skin, the more the vanilla and apricot flower come forward. Its sweet, sexy, and always makes me feel happy. What I'm left with is a scent that is evocative of sweet olive, which happens to be one of my favorite scents in the world. Southern gals, you know what I'm talking about I'm so glad I gave this one another chance. This proves to me that a little aging and not being so quick to judge a scent fresh out of the mail box is so important!

    The Masque

I enjoy how this one starts out. Soft honey with a spicey kick. Not overly floral. I can definitely detect the clove! Slightly incensey vibe. Not getting much patchouli at all. Unfortunately, this dries down to musky honey single note. Works for some! But not for me.

    St. Clare

I am loving St. Clare. I reach for it so often! The label makes me so happy too. Brown fuzzy unicorn? yes! To my nose, St.Clare is all sweet tobacco, incense, and vanilla. I don't get much rum at all and don't find the scent to be "boozy". It's very warm and inviting. Honestly, it reminds me very much of Autumn Lace and Black Lace. If you enjoy the lab's tobacco note, St. Clare will most likely be a win for you.
