    Grog

This one is really weird for me. In the imp it smelled just like super sweet butterscotch, which isn't the kind of perfume I'd ever reach for, but as it was a frimp in my last order why not try something new, right? It mellows out a lot on my skin and loses its sweetness, and turns into... well, it smells a lot like Miskatonic University to me! That sort of sweet creamy note, but without the "dustiness" (which to me smelled like dry rice and not old books). I don't get any booziness at all, none of the rum scent that's in Alice's Evidence, for example. I'm not really into it, but I do want to lick my wrists. I'd recommend it to someone who likes foody scents.

    Namaste

In the imp and wet on my skin, the lemongrass and woods make it smell just like my favorite Indian restaurant. Which is not a bad smell, just not something I particularly want to smell like. The lemongrass fades fairly quickly and leaves me smelling more like a head shop when the patchouli and a little jasmine come out. Again, not bad, just not what I particularly want to smell like (although Maenad is pretty head shop-y in a different way and I love it). I was going to wash it off since I wasn't feeling it, but then I got distracted for about half an hour and when I sniffed my wrists again it was just about gone. It's not as floral as you might imagine seeing the notes of rose and jasmine. There's nothing wrong with this scent for me, I just don't want to smell like an Indian restaurant or a patchouli and sandalwood incense laden head shop. I would much rather smell like Maenad's strawberry and opium incense laden head shop.

    Death on a Pale Horse

When I first apply it I get a sharp citrus scent and light floral background over strong vetiver and patchouli. The citrus and floral fade out fairly quickly, leaving just the barest hint behind the smoky vetiver. I don't get any mint at all, and I'm not particularly fond of vetiver or patchouli, so this one isn't really my cup of tea, which is a shame since it smells so nice and well-balanced in the imp, but I guess my skin just amps the notes in it I don't like as much :/ I'd love to smell it on someone whose skin chemistry is better suited to it than mine.

    Miskatonic University

I was so excited to get a frimp of this, since I've been dying to try it for ages. Unfortunately it's not what I was hoping for at all. In the vial it's very sweet, reminds me of Irish Creme coffee creamer, but not necessarily in a bad way. I get a little bit of a coffee scent underneath that when I put it on. It started off rather nicely, just like sweet Irish coffee. Then there's a light woody scent coming through... then it smells like rice. Dry, uncooked rice. I'm assuming that's the dust tomes note I was looking forward to experiencing, but all I get is this kind of dry, foody smell. With the little bit of sweetness that's left, it's kind of like a dry rice pudding, if that makes any sense at all. If I sniff really really deeply, I kind of get the dusty books and coffee and woody halls thing, but it's way too faint. It's not that it smells unpleasant, and from most of the other reviews it seems to be really great on others, but all I'm getting is rice! It's not for me.

    Whoso List To Hunt

When I put this on today it smelled glorious, like smelling a rose in a forest. But all the woodsy goodness was gone within five minutes and I'm left with a fuzzy warm musky rose scent. The rose isn't quite as strong and overpowering on me as it can be in other rose blends, but it's definitely there. It' ok, but I miss the way it started out! What it turns into on me just isn't worth a bottle purchase.

    Sheol

I used up my frimp and had to get a full size, and I think they smell different. My impression from the frimp was that Sheol is a lovely light fresh floral with something a little shadowy in the background. It always reminds me of taking walks in the graveyard in my town on summer evenings. It's fresh and slightly green, but with a sense of evening shadows and coolness (I know this sounds weird but that's the impression it gives me). In my full size, I get more of the smoky resin and it's a bit more warm. It's not bad, but it's not quite the perfume I thought I was getting.

    A Fit of Artistic Enthusiasm

I was looking for a strong, salty aquatic and I found it here. I was hoping it would smell a bit more "cold" but I think I just need to accept that my skin makes everything smell warm. I get mostly salt and woodsiness and not much of the floral, which makes me think this is a fairly unisex scent. Not too manly but not overtly feminine either. I love it and I'd love to try it on a guy.

    London

To me this is a single note dry rose scent. It's nice, but it's nothing special. I like to use it to give a touch of rose to my other perfumes.

    Defututa

One of my first ever BPAL scents! My first impression of Defututa is that it is very cozy, warm, sexy and languid. It's hard to pick out the individual notes; I mostly get the smoky vanilla, which doesn't really smell like smoke at all, just a very pleasant and complex vanilla. I wish I had another lab blend with vanilla I could compare it to. The cinnamon is very soft and subtle, and it doesn't read as spicy to me at all. The honey gives it a touch of sweetness, but the olive blossom keeps that sweetness in check. It's very well-balanced. This is the perfect spend the day in bed with your SO scent. Very sexy in a "I just got some" kind of way, not a "I want to get some" way. One problem - something in this blend (the cinnamon maybe?) irritates my skin. I'll put up with the discomfort for the time being because I love this scent.
