  1. The Amber Dawn

    Fresh, Fruity Florals

I don't know how else to describe it, though I don't think I've tried or liked most anything else in this thread I do love The First of the Three Spirits and to me it's a very fruity floral.
  2. The Amber Dawn

    The Perfect Lavender

Figured this was the place to ask, anybody have thoughts or comparisons on the newest lavender blends? I loooove The Air and The Ether and TKO but I haven't tried many other lavender blends and wondering what the lavender lovers out there think or what their new faves are.
  3. The Amber Dawn

    Springtime scents

Spring! Anybody swapping their scents as the seasons change, and what are your picks this spring?
  4. The Amber Dawn

    Iris and Orris scents

Trying to nail down the notes that do and don't work on me, feel like orris is a possible note I amp or don't like, but is there a more complete list of orris notes or easier way to search for LEs with that note?
  5. The Amber Dawn

    Ambergris

Trying out The Air and The Ether and not sure if it's the ambergris or the "pale" amber I'm loving.. guess I have to try some more ambergris scents!
  6. The Amber Dawn

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Haven't been active in ages, but even when I was I couldn't even really find 10 I liked out of possibly hundreds tested. Returning to some of my faves and I love them even more with age, so any help finding new loves is much appreciated! Top 5: The Girl The First of the Three Spirits Boo 2010 Door TKO
  7. The Amber Dawn

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Against Idleness and Mischief (kinda like Door but heavier on the honey), Beaver Moon I 2013 (you have some creamy faves and this is delish) Ooh, I'll have to try those out! Thanks <3

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!

Alright, lets see what you lovelies think I'd like: The Girl Door TKO Black Lace Boo 2010 With Mouse's Long and Sad Tale being that one I just can't bear not to mention but have a hard time fitting in there.

    Sleepytime BPAL

I usually use Boo 2010, but I love mostly sweeter blends so if TKO is too sweet then you probably wouldn't like Boo. (I also like TKO, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, and Dorian.) Other than BPAL: - Try using an eye mask and ear plugs - Make sure your bedroom is completely dark (black out curtains) - Lower the temperature or use a thinner blanket if you stay awake from being too hot and vice versa turn it up or use more blankets if you shiver yourself awake (just try to keep the temperature relatively cool and stable all night) - Try to eliminate any irritants that might awaken you - Limit any tv/computer/bright screen usage before bed because it tricks your body - Take some time before bed to meditate or read or otherwise relax and clear your mind and maybe make your drowsy - Limit caffeine before bed or even just limit caffeine intake in general for a while to give your body a rest from the stimulants - Don't lie in bed if you can't sleep try getting up and only going to bed when you are tired - Work out in the afternoons it helps you fall asleep - Focus on one sound until you fall asleep (really stay focused!) like the hum of your fridge or something - Try using a white noise sleep app on your phone to help lull you to sleep - Keep as regular a sleep schedule as possible - Try sleeping an hour more or less to see if that works better for you (I find a lot of the time I only get 6-7 hours and trying to sleep more just ends with me tossing and turning all night)

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Ooh I might have to try Blossoms in Springtime now! And if you like Giant Vulva and Xiuhtecuhtli, then you should try The First of the Three Spirits as well.
  11. Well it's BPTP but Celeste is strong! Probably the strongest one I know. Other oils that come to mind as being very noticeable on me are Door, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, Black Lace, and Cake Smash.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Have you tried layering? I lover layering Boo 2010 with Black Lace but 2010 doesn't have any lemon in it. We even have some favourites in common, but I am drawing a blank here! Boo is the warmest, simplest sweet scent I've found. Most of the sweet blends that come to mind aren't vanilla at all! My boyfriend is also fond of Boo.
  13. The Amber Dawn

Scents that smell "motherly" and protective

I'm not sure what you have, but Morocco and Lyonesse would be my suggestions.
  14. The Amber Dawn

    Sweet lemony floral?

Not entirely sure if these are what you are looking for, but these are some of my favourites: Door - Golden honey, nicotiana, blue chamomile, and cistus. Kind of bittersweet herbal/floral honey, but in a really good way. Similar to Deadly Nightshade Honey, but better. Boo - Eerie billows of spun sugar, fluttering white cotton, and sheets of cream. Can be hit or miss, since a lot of people have trouble with the cream note, but the 2012 version in particular is supposed to be lemon-y, and I can say this is one of my boyfriends favourites. Snow White - A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. Another one that can be hit or miss, but if it does work for you it's very nice. Sweet and feminine for sure. Mouse's Long and Sad Tale - Vanilla, two ambers, sweet pea and white sandalwood. Sweet and creamy, but complex at the same time, one of my all time favourites. Xiuhtecuhtli - Copal, plumeria and sweet orange and the smoke of South American incense and crushed jungle blooms. Very nice tropical scent, light and bittersweet. Morocco - Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia. Not a personal favourite because I don't feel it suits me, but it might be a nice middle-ground for you because it does have some warmer notes you may like, while still being feminine and creamy. Also I'd agree that Dorian can be soft and sweet, but may be more neutral than 'girly', I do love it though. And I would second Zephyr as well. <3 Er, so I hope my very biased recommendations might have something you like.
  15. The Amber Dawn

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore The Girl for Thanksgiving, but not for any special reason, just because I love it. <3
  16. The Amber Dawn

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Your mileage may vary, but I used to think that Deadly Nightshade Honey and Door were in the same scent family at least.

Switch Witch Help 2011 Part 3!

What's on your list of formerly fun activities to reclaim, witches?? Well, I don't know? I have been trying to be more actively adventurous and just have more fun with life in general with everything. As a Witchee, are you interested in clues to your Witch's identity? I'm pretty sure I would never ever be able to guess, so clues wouldn't be much help! Is anyone interested in participating in the sketchbook project 2012? I am, and have been for a year or two, but I know the date has passed. would you still want the project if it was a craft fail???? It's up to you. If you could repurpose or reuse the components later I'd rather you keep it, but it's the thought that counts!

Switch Witch Help 2011 Part 2!

Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? As tempted as I am to order out, I prefer to cook most nights. I would love some utensils or something, though I am drawing a blank as to what exactly. =P New question: How do you feel about maple syrup? Canadian, 'nuf said. X) But really, I actually don't think I've ever had true maple syrup, though I do like sniffing maple syrup candles, have eaten maple syrup fudge, and keep wanting to buy maple syrup candies but don't because they are expensive to rip off tourists. How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? (Like these: http://www.art-shrin...cketshrines.htm) I think they are very interesting, and maybe something inspirational would be good, but I'm not sure how much use I'd get out of one. Do you like Star Wars? Original Trilogy? Prequels? Spin-offs? Favorite characters? I like, original trilogy of course, I don't hate the prequels as much as some, I plan on watching the clone wars cartoon sometime soon, and no particular favourite characters, though Boba Fett is pretty awesome (If I cosplayed, I'd probably dress like him). Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene) Yes, and the boyfriend likes it even more than me. Thicker and softer, but not gristle-y. Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work. Racier like what? Not particularly (unless you just mean crude humour and what not, then that's fine). Don't need a worksafe warning regardless. Doctor Who? Yay or nay? (please don't make me cry by saying nay) Yay! I've seen from the 2005 reboot. I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package? Heck yeah! And if you had anything that said exterminate or had a dalek on it, I'm pretty sure the boyfriend would steal it since that amuses him to no end. Anyone love Buffy/Angel? Love is probably a strong word, but I do enjoy them both. How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires? I prefer the sugar coated types of gummy, rather than the naked kind. How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? I don't know? Maybe for my phone. Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney? I'm probably in the dark fairytales end of the spectrum, literally. I prefer realistic spookiness, like graveyards and real skulls, but not over the top gore or scare tactics. Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings? Yes, I have 4 lobe piercings on each ear. My only other piercing is downtown. Jewelry is good, just refer to questionnaire for preferences! One thing I've been on the lookout for for a year or so is a pair of small sky/robins egg blue stud earrings (stone, gem, glass, or enamel preferred over plastic). How do you all feel about Whoopie Pies? I don't know what they are. do you like real sugar skulls? Things with sugar skull designs? Not particularly, but I don't have anything against them either. Just not particularly my aesthetic. Who here adores meringue? I like meringue cookies, though I doubt they'd survive the post or make it over the border. FYI - This leather case is amazing, I wish it was for Samsung Galaxy S. Also, I don't want/expect you to get me these, but I just have to say these ecospheres and jellyfish tanks are freaking awesome. Random Note I've been looking at getting some fake lashes to try out, and I'm specifically interested in Red Cherry (in 01 and 66, or just some natural-ish ones and some really dramatic ones). Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off? Hm. The way that's phrased makes it hard for me to come up with something. There are things I've been meaning to do for years, but haven't been putting off, just haven't done. And there are things that have been postponed or whatnot due to funds and timing and all that.. Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting No, I've never actually made an order before (just got CPs) and I'm not planning to in the near future, though one day I want to. No decant circles or anything either. Do you have any interest in rocks? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance! See above, I think I've answered this before. Don't need a ton of rocks, but one or two really cool ones might be cool. If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? Probably a scarf or neckwarmer, light and drape-y sounds nice, or semi-warm, just not scratchy. The weather is pretty moderate here. Orange, purple, teal, taupe, grey, or blue. No allergies as far as I know. Witches - speak to me of shower gels! What companies/scents do you recommend/prefer? I've only really bought shower gels once without just picking out the cheapest thing I can find. My boyfriend bought me a couple from Bath and Body Works--not bad, but I'm not a huge fan either, I just use them because I have them. But, I do prefer shower gel/body wash over bar soap, I just don't have a favourite yet. Scents.. warm, vanilla, sweet, shea butter, usually. Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? You mean like these? Would love some! How do you feel about terrariums? Love the concept, but I have a habit of killing all plants with love. It makes me sad. What's your favorite horror movie? Don't think I have one. I went through a phase in high school and watched a whole bunch... but was thoroughly underwhelmed. If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. I'm just figuring a lot of this stuff out myself! I really don't have any everyday essentials yet, still experimenting and learning what works for me. Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? Nay. Not interested really either. I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? Sure, motivational ones are good, especially ones that are simple but really powerful. Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? Sure? If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? I used to buy and read a lot of manga, don't really do much of it any more. Same for comics and graphic novels too now that I think about it. But I like compelling stories and characters, interesting ideas, great writing, awesome art, or all of the above--dystopian, post-apocalyptic, or cyberpunk is a plus. For manga: I used to be into CLAMP (more Clover and X than Card Captor Sakura), I have the first book of Mushishi and wouldn't mind the rest. For comics, I prefer graphic novels: I like Jason Chan and Becky Cloonan, Warren Ellis and Alan Moore and Brian K. Vaughan, I like Transmetropolitan and Watchmen, dark and twisted characters, and excellent coloring. If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? Hm, don't know much about the scent compatibilities for me, or what the notes actually smell like since some of them could go either way, but at a guess, something like this: Vanilla Bean, Vanilla Bean, Lemon Meringue, Mint Medley Fresh Squeezed Citrus, Incense, Tropical Fruit, Vanilla Bean Marshmallow, Buttercream Cupcake, Buttercream Cupcake, Vanilla Bean If you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? Hm. Most of the art that comes to mind involves trees and ocean, and neither of those work for me in large amounts. Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? Very yes, I wouldn't mind a little embroidery kit (I don't want to make hanging art, but I'd like to do some embroidery on clothes, like leaves and flowers), or like a small (apartment sized) paper making kit, or something like that. What's 'your' song/your theme song? Hm, not sure. It changes year to year. Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! I've never been a fan of trail mixes... until last year. I absolutely LOVE Wild Roots Coastal Berry Blend and even more I LOVE Wild Roots.. I forget what it's called but it's got dried strawberries, dried blackberries, dried cranberries, dark chocolate, almonds, and ancient grain granola chunks. I would LOVE anything with dried strawberries and dried blackberries, I am addicted to them. Any of the above listed ingredients are good too, as well as dried blueberries, and coconut chunks, hazelnuts, yogurt chips, pumpkin seeds, and cashews. Pretty much those are the only ingredients I'm really interested in, because otherwise I'll just buy more Wild Roots. Would love love love bulk dried strawberries or blackberries if you can find them too. <3 What would be your superpower? Fixing other peoples problems, finding solutions. Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? Hells to the yes! But.. I'm only REALLY interested in Mourning Moon, Raven Moon, and 2009 Resurrection specifically. Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? The only bracelet I ever wear is my Biagi/Pandora Italian style charm bracelet, and only on special occasions. It takes special beads (I added a few of my favourites to my etsy wishlist), and I have lampworked glass beads cored with silver, made by Redroom Artglass on mine. Randomness I would love a Lady Rainicorn shirt like this one, only with different colors (shirt could be yellow, or could be another color, just make the rainicorn not-pink). =D Also, I keep almost buying a makeup roll, and I've been craving one of these cotton necklace/scarf things for like, two years. If you're interested in a handmade pouch/cover for an item you have (phones, tablets, books, keys, kettles...), what would your ideal pouch/cover have? Design, material, additional functionality/features like pockets or lights or secret hidey-holes? Ooh a keys cover? That sounds interesting. Hmm.. Really, just check out my etsy wishlist, I've got a lot of interesting different pouch/cover type items on there. Would you like a photo collage based around your interests/favorite colors/favorite themes? Not particularly, I don't have anywhere to put it. If you're crafty, are you interested in spoonflower? And if so, what things there delight your eyes? Interesting, yet costly.. I like cool fabric but don't have anything in particular jumping out at me. Colors! What are your favorite colors and what colors do you not like? Pictures and links, people! Love: Teal/Aqua, Byzantium Purple, Burnt Orange. Like alot: Grey, brown, black. Do not love: Pink. I like accent accessories in a deep red (I have a purse and shoes in red), and more importantly I've been seriously craving blue clothes and accessories right now. Shades of blue like this, or this, or this, or this, or this. What is your favorite word? Indelible. What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? I've owned some, but I've never actually used them... I'd like fingerless gloves or a fabric bracelet though. Thinner fabric, not itchy, blue like above would be cool.. or grey. Do you like tarts? tealights? jar candles? votives? Best bet re: candles is probably just beeswax candles. What's your favorite flavor? Sour, sweet, bitter, salty? Depends on what we're talking about. Salty, overall. Sour candies. Sweet/sour fruity drinks. So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? (yup, geek question) Not at the moment, not playing any games that utilize those types of items right now. Anyone doing anything cool for Mabon (or the start of fall, if you aren't pagan?) Nope. What is your favorite coffee blend at Starbucks? If you don't have one, what is your favorite roast of coffee? Blech, coffee. =P Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? Hm. Heart of Gold Lapel pin is the only thing I think. I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? Never heard of Cocoa Pink before.. but the ones that catch my eye are Hello Sugar!, Black Marshmallow, Marshmallow Cotton Candy Canes, Peppermint Snow Angels, Vanilla Sandalwood, Goblin. what's your favorite kind of pizza? I am not a fan of pizza (I'll eat it, but I rarely enjoy it) so I haven't tried that many. I do however LOVE Pizza Huts thin crust Canadian (Pepperoni, Bacon, Mushrooms, Cheese) pizza.. Haven't had it in almost three years though. who are your style/fashion icons? post pics if you want! Uh, I don't think I have any. =( Are there any food items you're craving/aren't able to find around your area? Dried strawberries and blackberries? What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel, like this? Cute, but no thanks. Is there anything you like or would like to try from Bath & Body Works? Not in particular. Meanwhile, I am asking all of you (and especially my witchee) what would you think of this (with a matching scarf) ? It's pretty cute, I have super short hair though, so I wouldn't really use it. A headband or bracelet or something else knitted like that would be cute though. Look down. What are you wearing, right now? Bleh. At home grubby clothes. Blue tank top and shorts, it's muggy in here. how do you feel about ethical animal fiber, i.e. wool and the like? Sounds good. It's the weekend, and you find yourself without a single chore or responsibility for a few hours. Right this very moment, what's the one thing you would do if you could do anything? Have a shower, read a book, have a nap? What is something totally random (yes, that thing that just popped into your head) that hasn't been covered by any previous questions? I'm terrible, I've been adding lots of little random things as I go along, but one I haven't added yet is that I am lusting after a Shu Uemura eyelash curler, and Tweezerman tweezers, but have yet to take the plunge. Also, everyday I am becoming more enamored with blue, it's getting so hard not to impulse-buy blue nail polish and accessories. What is something people are always surprised to learn about you? Lately? It seems like people are surprised I used to have long hair, and twelve piercings. That I've travelled so much already in my life (compared to most people I've met, that haven't left their home city anyhow). That I have artistic ability. So who else watched Babylon 5? Not yet. If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Not sure, but I don't really have the assets or personality to pull it off anyways. Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? Expressive apparently? I'd say Expressive with a side of Driver. Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? No. And .. I'm Trypophobic. DON'T GOOGLE IT. But I'm better than I used to be, still working on it. You shouldn't be able to gross me out on accident though, I don't think. what level of contact were you hoping for? Whatever works for my Witch, works for me. Your favorite restaurant or type of food to eat out. Would you use a restaurant.com voucher? Groupon? Sushi is probably our favourite random "eat-out" dinner choice. Earls, Moxies, Cactus Club are also good. Looks like Restaurant.com is USA only, and I've never used Groupon before, but in theory it sounds good. Are there any local museums/attractions you keep never getting around to going to? Capilano Suspension Bridge, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden, and VanDusen Botanical Garden are the top three I want to see. Is there any kind of international candy you love or would like to try? Not in specific, but I'm open to suggestion! If you were to go here and create your very own chocolate bar, what might it have in it? Dark Chocolate + Dried Raspberries + Toffee Milk Chocolate + Caramel Pieces + Sea Salt Milk Chocolate + Cookie Dough Milk Chocolate + Hazelnuts + Toffee Is there anything you're wanting from LPMP? Not particularly. say you stumbled into Camp Half Blood (or whatever the Roman camp ends up being named <bounces in anticipation>), which god claims you? Don't know the context. Stuff you've been meaning to do? I've been getting better about "Less thinking, more doing", but as much as I'm sure I've got a lot I'm still meaning to do, I can't think of any right now. Would you be interested in regional jams, jellies, or other preserves? Yes! I don't know what the differences are, but Raspberry jam would be especially loved and gobbled up, or other berry jams (strawberry, mixed berries, etc). Do you have any bedtime rituals? Is there any particular product you have to apply or a certain shirt you wear or an act you perform to get you in the "bedtime" mood? I rarely do anything the same way twice. I do like to wear Boo 2010 on my hands though. Are you interested in today's/any recent Tee Fury shirts? No, not as far as I know. I rarely wear shirts with any words or images on them. (I do want to get more patterned clothes, or ones with designs on them, but I'm not big on just plain images in general. Not that I don't wear them at all, just very rarely, and I'm pretty picky.) Princess Bride? Yay or nay? A huge portion of my childhood was spent between watching Princess Bride, Labyrinth, and Secret of NIMH. So yay. What's your favorite classic fairytale? As over-redone as it is, I enjoy Red Riding Hood in terms of adaptations and interpretations, specifically visually. I love stories in general, and fables and fairy tales specifically as well, but I'm not the type of person to have "favourite" anythings. The first story I thought of when I read this question was "The Gift of the Magi", which I find a deep personal resonation with, but I wouldn't say it's my favourite. Food not readily available? Oh! I just thought of two things to add to this previous question: GoldSeal Smoked Light Tuna Slices in Sunflower & Sesame Oil (Not the one in water) (Love this! But I can't find it in Vancouver), also, Land'O'Lakes flavoured hot chocolate (I got my mom to bring me a case from out of town... I drank the whole thing in like, two months. I'm out, and it is hot chocolate season again!)! Random I could really use a set of measuring spoons.. I broke my set (cheap dollar store set) last year, bought a new set a few months later, but my "new" set had the measuring amounts written on the spoons on the same spot as the magnet that holds them together, so all the measurements have been rubbed off now. =/ Also, in dire need of some face cloths, regular and extra soft would be absolutely appreciated! I'm currently using a dish cloth to wash my face, and only have one. Not worky so well. JONES SODA CO has LE soda packs for The Guild, Buffy, D&D, So Cute, etc. Would you be interested in these, Witchee? I try not to consume my calories in liquid form (I have a bad habit of doing so, trying to break it, or at least be pickier in how I drink my calories) so no. It'sBanned Books Week! Are there any books on the list you'd be interested in checking out? Eh. If there's a good book I want to read sure, not particularly bothered with whether it's on the banned books list or not. I have just been enlightened to THESE. Are these flavors relevant to your interests? Salted Caramel or Smoked Salt probably. What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? Let's start with what I already own and like. I have this small leather bag, this leather waist-pack, and this Moop bag. I love GOOD leather (pleather or crap leather, I'd rather just get a fabric bag) and would be interested in an upcycled leather bag as well. Also love canvas/fabric bags (and totally interested in those waxed-canvas bags at Moop). Love the bags I have, but I really really really need a mid-sized day-to-day bag. There are quite a few bags on my etsy wishlist if you want an idea of what I like. Crossbody is best, over the shoulder is good too (like my Moop bag has both), but I don't like it when the hole for the shoulder is tiny and I sweat on my purse, or the strap won't fit over my coat, or something. Solid colors are best. julep maven monthly boxes? Don't think they ship to Canada. Like commercial socks? White 3/4 length work socks with reinforced heels and toes. What kind of bear is best? None of the above? Not particularly drawn to any kind of bear. Is anyone interested in reading The Night Circus? Sure, the blurb sounds interesting. Hershey's Pumpkin Spice kisses? No, I'd prefer Toblerone if you're looking for drugstore chocolate for me. =) I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? Interesting, but no thanks. Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? Nice, but not something I need. Do you drink wine? Rarely, mostly I drink mixed vodka cocktails or martinis. If I do drink wine it's usually reisling. Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? Nope. I recently saw candy corn in non-candy corn flavors like CHOCOLATE and CARAMEL APPLE. It's not a fancy brand, I just saw it in the drugstore, but who here would like something like that? No candy corn please. =) Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? I've heard getting a hold of Haunt stuff is tricky, so I'm not particularly interested--I'd rather hunt down some BPALs. Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? It sounds interesting, but probably not my thing. You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? Can I trade the three things for just one bottle of The Girl (I've seen it go for $40 lately, so I'd still be under budget!)? Seriously, if the only thing I got this whole round was a bottle of The Girl I would be the happiest witchee in the history of switch witch, and I wouldn't need anything else. So my answer would be: 1.2.3. The Girl. <3 But, if that's not an option, 3 things under $20: 1. Nicole by OPI Me + Blue or another blue nail polish. 2. Bright blue stud earrings or some other earrings 3. One of the lipsticks or cream eyeshadows off of my wishlist how do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? No thanks. PS Special Note! PSA for my Witch! I don't want, need, or expect you to get anything or everything from these lists of questions! I answer all these questions and stuff to give you lots of ideas about me and what I do and don't like. I'll be happy with whatever you come up with. Don't feel pressured by any of my answers or wishlists, I just hope that you have fun with it and enjoy putting something special together with love, just for me. =) But, if you're like me and you love spoiling people silly with extremely personal and thoughtful gifts, whether they be handmade or store bought, dollarstore chic or high-end boutique, I hope I've given you a ton of inspiration. Some of the best gifts are cheap, free, or handmade with whatever you already have on hand around the house. (Plus, it's great warm up answering all these questions; I am going to have an AMAZINGly well thought out Christmas wishlist this year. ) (Actually... Speaking of handmade, two things I've just thought of that are shoe-string budget but that I would actually love to receive: A headphone wrap (I don't use iPod headphones, but I do use earbuds, just allow for size I guess), and a string tripod. Ooh, okay this isn't handmade, but it could be free--if you could sweet talk a perfume counter into giving you a tester of Dior's Hypnotic Poison, I would love you forever. I want some, but I'm too chicken to ask.) Heck let's just make that a question. Are there any DIY / Crafty / Free / Budget items you'd love to get but haven't noted yet? (Or, maybe you'd just like to emphasize something you may have only noted in passing?) A headphone wrap, a string tripod, and a sample of Dior's Hypnotic Poison (loveloveLOVE it! Don't want to pay 100$ for it). I'd also actually really really really like a new set of measuring spoons. I don't care if they are dollarstore, cheap, used, whatever, as long as they aren't flimsy, and the measurements can be read on them and won't wear off. The ones I have are getting on my last nerve, and I am doing a LOT of baking this season. Oh! And an ice cube tray, just a regular, normal ice cube tray. I have one good one, and one dollar store one that is my boyfriends arch nemesis. I haven't seen any good plain ice cube trays locally though. (Totally open to crafty/DIY gifts otherwise, and free samples are awesome!) Is there a magazine that you DON'T read because you can't find it near you, but wish you could? Not as far as I know. I don't read a lot of print material anymore, I used to, but as I grow older I find I have less and less time in the day, and the time I do have gets allocated elsewhere. Describe your sense of humour. I've spent a lot of my time over the years with geeky men. Also spent a lot of time getting bullied, or just having people try to get a reaction out of me. So I'm not so easy to gross out or offend. I really enjoyed Drawn Together (and South Park to a lesser extent), if that gives you an idea. I don't like the whole "awkward humour" direction movies have gone the last few years though (Due Date was a total flop for me). I don't like Dennis Leary or George Lopez. Comedians I have enjoyed at one time or another (probably watched or heard at least one stand up routine): Robin Williams, Mitch Hedburg, Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook, Jim Gaffigan, Pablo Francisco, Russell Peters, Jeff Dunham, James P. Connolly, Jeff Foxworthy. Damn, now I have to go watch some comedy. Uh, but other than that I enjoy a lot of "children's" animated movies, and other cheesy humour too. Do you like reusable grocery bags? If so, do you like the kind that fold up (ie Chico Bags?) Yes, I prefer the smallest, strongest bag possible because I walk everywhere so I always have to carry my groceries home (I take the cab once in a while), and also I have to carry the bags so they can't take too much space. I'm about to make an order from Sephora (nothing off of my wishlist, witch, so don't worry about that). Is there anything for you that you would like to accompany my order, if you're my witchee? Dior Hypnotic Poison sample? Benefit Birthday Suit Bare Escentuals Urban Nature Prime Time Primer Shadow Tweezerman Tweezers Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers Is there anything you either didn't like or had never heard of that you're now curious to try thanks to the discussion in this thread? Never tried Salted Caramels, I have heard of them before but this thread is definitely tempting me! Starting to have a burning desire to try out some Villainess! Reveal? I plan to, didn't know there was another option. If my witch doesn't want to I can respect that, but I would much prefer if they would reveal as well. Would you be interested in the #occupywallstreet scent? If patchouli wasn't so disasterous? But no. Do Paintbox Soapworks' Goat's Milk Hand and Body Creams sound like something you'd like to try? I do use hand cream once in a while, but my boyfriend has an aversion/phobia and won't touch me or let me touch him if I have anything on my skin, so probably not. Who likes silly items from Archie McPhee??? Chef Soap (!) Cotton Candy or Cupcake Toothpicks Absinthe Gumballs or Absinthe Candies (looks like a perfect imp tin) Heart Gelatin Mold Bone Chillers Ice Cube Tray Nocturne Alchemy's NAlloween Pt. 2 update is live here! (And for a few days, last month's update too.) What do you want? Blarg, I don't have any patience for the website. What are you drooling over from the Sock Dreams Halloween stuff? Oh jeez. I hadn't actually GONE to sock dreams... until now. I have no clue how to navigate the site, don't know where the Halloween stuff is. But, I'd love a good set of warm tights, plain or textured, black or grey for layering. Microfiber Stirrup Leggings in either grey or black look really nice too. Spider Lace pantyhose for fun. Honestly I'm pretty overwhelmed, but mostly interested in leggings or pantyhose to dress up or layer. Luck charms? Don't have any, but would be open to receiving one. Does anyone want anything from... here...? LOVE the concept, but I'd rather you not, seems really heavy to ship and expensive. You could send me the dry contents of a favourite recipe with instructions, or just a good recipe. For those of you that like candles, do you like stuff from Yankee Candle? And if you had to choose, tarts or candles? Mostly just prefer unscented or beeswax candles. Would you be interested in getting a custom necklace fromhere? I don't know about custom necklaces, but I wouldn't mind some of the plain stud earrings. Is there a movie you want so badly that you don’t own now? I don't think I'm desperate for movies anymore, but I have been really craving to watch HP7 again. Is there a song on Itunes that you haven’t downloaded yet? Mostly don't download on iTunes. Is there a rare book you’ve always wanted? Hm, don't know about "rare", but there are a few books I've been wanting to read, but my library doesn't have. Particularly: Ghosts in the Snow : Tamara Siler Jones Threads of Malice : Tamara Siler Jones An Artificial Night : Seanan McGuire (An October Daye Novel) Late Eclipses : Seanan McGuire (An October Daye Novel) Is there anything you want to buy yourself but have been too embarrassed (R rated or pg)? Not particularly.. Have you seen the Lush holiday update? Do you like the look of anything from there? Eh, overall I find LUSH products too strong for me. if you were my witchee, would you want some of my hot nuts my candied nuts my nuts covered in butter and brown sugar candied walnuts? Hm, sure. Not my favourite nuts, but it could be tasty. Does anyone else like collector Barbies? Not for myself. What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? Maybe not all "everyday", but small-ish household items: Ice Cube Tray Measuring Spoons Oh, a reusable fabric snack bag for in my purse! (Keep meaning to get one for trail mix.) Face cloths (Desperately need, I only have one, would love a soft one.) Cookie Cutter (Not something specialty, just like, circle or something, and preferably something space saving.) Fluted Pastry Wheel Pastry Knife Face scrubbie Tarot I do like it, but I have two or three decks I don't use. Tell me about something you like, and why you like it. I like kittens because they make me happy and make me die of cuteness. Also squirrels, same story. Everytime I see a squirrel IRL, I stop and wait and watch it skitter around before I move on again. Usually, I am also squeeing. If you're the MMU type of Witchee, what Geek Chic Cosmetics tickle your fancy? I'd like to try the mineral foundation Kahlan. Or the Star Power Finishing Veil. Big Daddy Biobalm looks promising. Maybe Nerdgasm blush. For eyeshadows: Blood Bond and N7 (!!! eye-safe red?!), Love of the Uniform, Captain Tightpants, Booze R' Us, Ambassador, Goomba. Would any witchees be interested in Quinn Popcorn? Absolutely!! Love popcorn, don't get a chance to have good popcorn anymore these days. Do you own a DSLR camera? Are you interested in a minky camera strap like these? What about anything from Photojojo? My boyfriend owns one, but I think I'm fine with the basic strap for now. The only thing from Photojojo that I could reasonably ask for is the bottle cap tripod. Is anybody else into film photography? Interested in receiving film, supplies, etc from Lomography? I did film photography and development in college, but haven't returned to it since. I couldn't justify the costs of development right now. Are you musically inclined? Do you play an instrument or sing? If so, what? I use to sing and play instruments a lot when I was young, but I haven't done much now. I do love to sing, even if I'm crap at it. Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like? Not my favourite treat. I do like the black licorice with the pink and blue dots on it, but that's about it. Mac using witchees, what computers do you use? What peripherals/accessories do you have and what would you LIKE to have? What do you use your computer for? PC. Do you like listening to audiobooks? Would you like to receive one, and if you would, what sort of audiobook would you like--or is there a particular audiobook you've been meaning to get? No thanks. Is there anything you would want from NYCC, something you'd like your witch to ask me to pick up? Not that I know of. The best thing I ever ate...: I am really terrible at "best" kind of questions. =P What is your favorite kind of cookie? I like Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Shortbread Cookies, Hot Rods, Gingersnaps, and Meringue Cookies to name a few. How many boxes are you hoping for? One? How do you feel about loose leaf tea in baggies? I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out? As long as it doesn't make customs confiscate it or fine me or something then it's cool. How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price. Also if you would be interested in this, what quotes would you like? That'd be cool! But I'm terrible at being decisive... Something about beauty and positive thinking for when I'm depressed, or something to get me to stop procrastinating. UPDATE: From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try? There really aren't that many reviews on some of the scents I was interested in, but Sonnet D'Automne is definitely intriguing me more and more with each review. And while not part of the Halloween update, Lady Death: Savage is really piquing my interest and I'll be watching reviews closely on that one. Also not a 'weenie, but I've recently become intrigued by Atlas and will be seeking to try that out after SW. I'm still interested in Le Revenant, The Gorobble, Sprinklecake, and The Wiley Grasser. Not as interested in these ones anymore, but wouldn't mind trying them if you already sent me some: Devil's Night, Ghosts in Love (hard to tell, only one review!), La Calavera Catrina, Pumpkin Princess, Mictecacihuatl, Halloween: LA. UPDATE: You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? Sticking to a limit, let's say ... 200$: Zephyr Sonnet D'Automne One more weenie - The Gorobble or Wiley Grasser maybe? Lady Death: Savage Paris (For my sister) Lyonesse (Backup for my mom) Dorian (Backup) Enraged Bunny Musk (for me) and Snow White 2008 (for my mom) off of the BPAL Etsy I'd coerce Puddin into finding a Mourning Moon Tee for me and posting it on Etsy And some wandcaps Are you interested in anything in the latest round of Lab auctions on eBay? I wouldn't expect you to get me a lab bottle from eBay, I know how high those can go. What favorite song(s) would you think would translate into a cool or unique scent? Placebo and Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill Ally Kerr - The Sore Feet Song Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere (But Not Here) Sarah McLachlan - Possession Amanda Marshall - Beautiful Goodbye Sarah Brightman - Eden Our Lady Peace - Thief Anyone interested in VApothecary's Halloween update? Probably not. Interested in anything from the Beaver Moon Lunacy update? Lady Death: Savage. I sent you with $20 into a drugstore/Walmart (nothing too fancy/imported/expensive, just your average selection), and you are restricted only to the candy aisle. What would you blow it on? Depending on what I craved at the time, but most likely some assortment of: Toblerone, Milk Duds, Junior Mints, Sour Patch Kids, and Sour Cherries. Do you like scary books? What's the best/scariest thing you've ever read? Haven't read any "scary" books since high school, and they weren't that scary. Do you need any winter wear, witchee? Winters are pretty temperate here, but some winter wear would probably still get some good use. Gloves, toque (.. uh.. knitted hat?) maybe a headband or something, that would all be nice. I've read something about a Event Exclusive called Pumpkin Hard Candy (if someone knows the details, shout it out because I am still searching). Are you interested in this scent? How desperate are you for it? I wouldn't mind sniffing it, but I am not particularly interested or desperate. Going back to the question about winter wear, are there any colors you would prefer not to have? Pink, Yellow, yellow-greens are all super no-nos. Stick to my favourite colors and you should be good. Is there any particular holiday DVD that you don't have that you would like to own? Not that I can think of. How do you feel about superheros? Are you a Marvel or DC fan? Do you have a favorite hero? I am a comic (/manga/manhwa/webcomic/graphic novel) fan, not as huge of a superhero fan, but I do enjoy them. I like parts of both Marvel (X-Men, Spiderman) and DC (Batman/Robin), but if I had to choose one I'd probably go Marvel. Not a fan of superlatives once again, but I greatly enjoyed the latest X-Men movie, and the old cartoon, as well at the 90's Spiderman cartoon. Would my bunny like anything in particular from Lush? I do have access to an actual Lush store, and also wouldn't mind ordering retro items online. I had a few ideas of things I might like on a previous question, but if you want a SURE thing, I am deeply in love with the Porridge soap. (But since you already sent that I doubt you asked this question.) ;] would you like a Paintbox from Paintbox Soapworks? If so, which scents? Hmm.. I don't know if I'd rather a paintbox, or just one of the Sorbettos instead (like the snow one). But if I was to pick a paintbox, I'd probably pick: The Man in the Moon, Sweet Cheeks, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, White Cotton Sheets, Gingermilk. Do you have kids (or kid-like pets) who your fox may want to take into account, either in terms of a little extra goody or simple safety? No kids, and only fishes, so no worries. How do you feel about honey/beeswax? Would you like any? LOVE! I've been wanting for a few years to get some honeycomb, but I love raw honey, and herbal/floral honeys, and beeswax candles. Are you a Trader Joe's fan, who either doesn't have a store nearby or just loves their stuff and has a wishlist? Uh.. Trader Joe's? *googles* Yeah, looks like we don't have those. I'm sure there is something there I'd like, but I'm not sure what. The Paintbox Soapworks Yules are up, or at least round one is (updates coming throughout the week). Interested in anything? The White Snow, Bright Snow Sorbetto (or soap) is definitely piquing my interest! If I were to place ONE LAST Weenie order, (uh, which I will) what would you want me to include for you? Hmm.. I have a tough time deciding since there are so few reviews out there because of the delays... Halloween in LA is sounding too boozy but otherwise yummy, Sprinklecake is maybe too sweet for me, Gorobble and Wiley Grasser are now sounding a little too much for me especially with the reported cinnamon in Gorroble, Boo sounds like it might be even better than last year and I'd really like to try it but I already have a lot, Sonnet D'Automne sounds like it's the runaway hit so far and sounds lovely but leaves have never worked on me before as much as I'd want them too, and Glittering Apple sounds amazing, someone even likened it to The Girl, but apples are also usually a no-no for me. Probably Sonnet D'Automne or Glittering Apple if I had to choose at this moment though. Will you be away for any part of the round? Nope! Anyone else with an Etsy store and a member of Tradeaholics (or you could join) and interested in bartering for gifts for their bunny? Everything in my shop is up for trade. I'm not currently a member of Tradeaholics.. And with the time left I doubt I'd be up to getting something done in time. What type of books do you like? Dying to read anything? I prefer outside-of-the-box, weird, sci-fi and fantasy. Urban fantasy, steampunk, cyberpunk, weird fantasy, etc are also good, even though they are pretty mainstream now. I like to be surprised, so more interesting subject matter, including 'taboo' type subjects (dealt with well of course) are of interest to me, or books that are thorough and detailed in a way that teaches me about a subject as I read (K.J.Parker). Books that I want to read, but my library doesn't have (used preferred): Ghosts in the Snow : Tamara Siler Jones Threads of Malice : Tamara Siler Jones An Artificial Night : Seanan McGuire (An October Daye Novel) Late Eclipses : Seanan McGuire (An October Daye Novel) If you like Christmas music (or any other holiday music, for that matter), what kind of style do you like? Traditional? Modern and poppy? Indie? I have two perfect Christmas CDs that evoke that nostalgic Christmas childhood feeling for me: Boney M - 20 Greatest Christmas Songs, Kathy Mattea - Good News. Last year I added some Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, and Peggy Lee for good measure. Do you enjoy things that taste like roses? For example chewing gum, turkish delight, delicious goo that you eat by the spoonful out of a glass jar (and they all taste of rose. Yes, we have all these in Greece.) Probably not? Also, same question about mastic. Would you be interested in trying it out? (If yes, any preferences? for example you wold prefer to try the chewing gum, the turkish delight, an Easter bun (I can go hunting, some companies make them all year round although it's not the same as the bakery Easter ones ), the raw resin itself, anything?) Not particularly. I wouldn't mind, but I'm not going to seek it out. i live in the city of the chicken wing. if i were to send you something savory, what's your heat tolerance (or sweet and heat for that matter). My boyfriend loves very hot food (with good flavour too of course). I on the other hand am pretty timid with food. A teensy bit of spice is nice, but I'm not a hot food fan. If your fox/bunny were to gift you with a giftcard from anywhere, as in any store foodwise, music wise etc. what giftcard would you like? Probably MAC. If I were to send you chocolate is there anything I should avoid as in nuts, cherries etc.? Also, what are some of your favorite holiday candies? Uh, I think you already know what I like for chocolates. ;] Does anything from Fusion Sweets interest you? Mostly the caramels -- French Sea Salt Butter, Appleless Caramel Apple, Bacon Sea Salt, and Sweet and Creamy Butter Caramel in particular. Interested in anything from the Elements and Artifacts Yule update? .. I've definitely added a few more items to my etsy wishlist.. *cough* I may have found out that my grocery store has expanded their international food stuffs section quite a bit. If there was something different you were wanting to try that you can't seem to find anywhere, what would it be? Nothing specific comes to mind (other than previous food item mentions), but I am open to suggestions! Onto part three!
  19. The Amber Dawn

    Switch Witch Help 2011

Hey! This is my first switch witch, and I am very excited! =D Here are the answers to the questions in the SW thread. =) PS: Here's Part Two, and here's my questionnaire too. Do you have any fiber allergies? Like, fabric? Not as far as I know. I'm not a huge fan of itchy stuff though, I'd prefer non-itchy. =) Can heat-sensitive items be mailed to you? I live in an apartment building, so if it fits through the mail slot it will be safely in my house, if it's bigger it will be left at the post office for me to pick up.. other than that, I suppose the weather here is pretty tame, so I think so. =) What belt size do you wear? Hrm. Well I usually wear size 12-13 pants, although sometimes I'm a 10 depending on the brand. I have pants that say 34/32 on them. I usually wear XL La Senza panties, and I just measured around the general belt area (between my hips and my belly) and I got 39". Hopefully one or more of those things is helpful. -------------------------------------------------------------- From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try? If I had to pick one? Probably HALLOWEEN: LAS VEGAS. The full list of scents I'll be watching the reviews of: BOO 2011 -- LOVE 2010, not a fan of 2009 by comparison, so I'd like to try it, but I have three partial bottles of 2010... so I'm not desperate. DEVIL'S NIGHT 2011 -- Not sure about the booze, but other than that I'm still intrigued. Description sounds like a nostalgic scent for me. GHOSTS IN LOVE -- LOVE White Sandalwood and Tobacco Flower.. not sure on the rest. LA CALAVERA CATRINA -- Same as Ghosts in Love: Bourbon Vanilla and Chamomile are LOVE, not sure on the rest. LE REVENANT -- Most of these are unknowns, I do like Sandalwood and White Musk.. mostly just interested because it is spirit related, and I'm drawn to those. MICTECACIHUATL 2011 -- I love Xiuhtecuhtli, and Copal, and Agave Nectar sounds sweet. PUMPKIN PRINCESS -- I just have to. Vanilla, Chocolate, White Amber, Honey, yum. SONNET D'AUTOMNE -- White Musk, Vanilla, Amber... Leaves scare me a bit. THE GOROBBLE -- Who can resist marshmallows? THE WILEY GRASSER -- Ditto for cotton candy. SPRINKLECAKE -- Definitely have to try, maybe even backup worthy. HALLOWEEN: LAS VEGAS -- All the booze is scaring me, but the will call impressions make me want it. Definitely have to try. Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands? Love nail polish! But I know it's difficult and/or illegal to mail, depending. I like OPI, never tried Essie but would like to, and would love to try China Glaze or Zoya, but they aren't available locally. Never tried BPTP either, but would love to. In general I love the look of glitter, but not having to remove it afterwards. I like creams and holos best generally. Love the look of flakies but don't have any. Shimmer is... not my favourite but can be nice. As for colors... I'm warm toned. Most yellows and yellow greens look weird on me. Wouldn't mind an army green. LOVE Duochromes. I love teal/aqua and purples, but I have a LOT of them! Don't have a purple cream yet though. Or a robins-egg blue. Or a concrete grey. Or whatever is trendy now (cause I probably don't have it!). I love unique shades! I almost bought a Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish today, can't remember the shade, but it was blue like I linked in later questions, and shimmery, also, Sally Hansen Salon Effects Summer Plum! I've been eyeballing Sally Hansens Tealy Fast and Bronze Ablaze from the Fall 2011 Insta-Dri release. I've been lemming SpaRitual Optical Illusion or China Glaze Zombie Zest Nail Polish. Just saw OPI Swimsuit...Nailed It! and It's MY Year in person.. LOVE! Lynderella doesn't ship to Canada.. but I'd love to get Gotta Love Brains (<3) or Connect The Dots. And I've been jonesing for Bisbee from Hare Polish, but can't stomach the shipping. Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite? Lately songs have been resonating with me more than quotes or lyrics.. Like theme songs that embody how I feel. This years theme seems to be (you can hear it for yourself, but basically I'm coming to terms with the frustrations of life and just need to live it instead of stressing out about it). Last year it was , so you can see my outlook on life has improved a bit. =) Dream candle? Scent, color, type (tealight, votive, pillar, jar, etc.), throw... I only own a couple candles, and I rarely burn them. I love the idea, just don't seem to have the opportunity, and the boyfriend has a very sensitive nose. We both looove the smell of beeswax candles though, any type/shape/whatnot (well, I guess I prefer solid to the rolled sheet kind). I only own a little votive one, and I just pull it out to sniff. <3 Do you like knitted goodies? If so, what would you like and what colors? Ooh. Hm. Definitely nothing scratchy, I don't like things to be scratchy. Chic little fingerless gloves, or a textural chunky neck warmer (1, 2), or slippers, or dish clothes would be nice though. I like neutrals, or colors like I listed in my ?aire. Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics? Don't know if anything like that could be shipped internationally...? Kind of drawing a blank, but maybe jam? What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying? Zephyr, but not for lack of trying! I've been actively seeking a bottle for a while. Also, Dorian.. I have a bottle, but I still worry. (You know how it is!) Yo, yarnies! Do you Ravelry? If so, who are you over thar? N/A Do you have wishlists for non-BPAL e-tailers? And if so, could you provide a link or a list? I have a short list of e-tailer wishes at the bottom of my BPAL wishlist, as well as some BPTP stuff too. If you want to know for a specific e-tailer, I can provide a wishlist. Witchee, do you use a PC or a Mac? PC. =) What is your favorite animal? Cat or squirrel right now (they make me happy). What are you going to be for Halloween? Not dressing up this year. Some day, I will dress up like this. =D How do you feel about nick-knacks? I'm more into practical stuff, and I don't really have any shelf space. What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? I don't know about traditions.. but getting together with family throughout the year around holidays is important to me. Dinner, baking, family.. Do you like going to the movies? Oh yes! I love going to the movies. The theatre near my house is a bit expensive, but I really think it's more fun than sitting at home and watching a movie (once in a while). What are your favorite restaurants? Earls and Moxies would probably be our regular-ish favs, The Keg once in a blue moon, and various local sushi and fast food other than that. Do you play any video games? I'm not currently playing one, but yes I do! Mostly PC. Lately I play a lot of MMORPGs (quit WoW a long time ago, played and quit RIFT, Aion, Conan, Warhammer, etc), hack and slash single player games (Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Divinity II), online Betas, with some DS games on the side (Pokemon, Plants VS Zombies, etc). Can't wait for Diablo 3! Will probably play Torchlight 2 when it comes out, and I've already preordered Star Wars: The Old Republic. Do you like any anime? Yes, but I am getting picky in my old age, lol! I used to watch anything I could get my hands on. My top favourite anime of all time right now is Mushishi. I am also a fan of American/Canadian cartoons. Here is what I have seen. Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for? My phone (Samsung Galaxy S) actually needs a sleeve or carry case, either a sleeve for in my purse, or a clip on/caribiner dealy to attach to pants. I have a few on my etsy wishlist--not that would fit my phone, but for an idea of what kinds of cases and fabrics I like. Note that I do have a plastic protective cover on my phone, so it's slightly larger than the factory specs. I also have a Nintendo DS XL that could use a sleeve to cover it when it's in my purse (I currently use an ankle sock when travelling). How much do you like jewelry? Kind of a double edged sword here--on the one hand, ooh shinies! On the other hand, I'm pretty minimalistic in general, don't wear jewelry often, mostly only wear it on special occasions, and even then I'm kind of picky. But I do like it! How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants? Sure! Kind of drawing a blank on recipes at the moment, I'll add if I think of any. Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above? Not particularly, I already have a pretty good system in place, but I wouldn't say no to a beautiful old second hand or antique wooden box. I love sturdy (doesn't have to be heavy, just strong), elegant yet simple, dark wood boxes with character. I'd like a box like this actually, not this particular carving though. (Or this, hah!) Ooh! Or secret puzzle boxes. Muppets: yea or nay? I grew up with Muppets, do like them, but they don't particularly figure into my life right now. Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite? I used to own pretty much every comic book collection book there was when I was a kid. I had all of Calvin and Hobbes, all of Far Side, a lot of Garfield, and plenty others. Not sure about favourite, it's been a long time and I've read most of them. Probably my affinity would be with Calvin and Hobbes. Favorite Mythological Creature? Hm. Visually or theoretically? I have a soft spot for mermaids, I'd say fairies but they are so overdone and not usually well.. Depends on the context I'd say. Do you like hair things barrettes, headbands, flowers ... I have super short hair and a big head, so most things are out. I don't usually use anything at all but I wouldn't mind a cute bobby pin or two--ooh kanzashi bobby pins! Or a fascinator. Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? I used to, but not anymore since my boyfriend has a very sensitive nose. Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? Yes, but not a super fan. Books are better, and I saw the movies opening night, but I've never really considered which house I'd be in. If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from? Ooh.. hm. MAC(!!) and Sephora are the first ones that come to mind. <3 Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? Not that I can think of at the moment. If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture! Not at this time. If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality! Oooh I'd have to think about that one. When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? Depends on why it's been rough, and the season. Hot chocolate works in the cool seasons, or a bit of chocolate. What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I like comics a lot, but I read more webcomics and such nowadays, just because of the cost and because I don't like owning so much stuff anymore. I prefer stories that can be read start to finish, like graphic novels, as opposed to long running serials. Standalone one-shot stories of serial characters or series' are fine too. I'm a sucker for great art, great coloring, and unique stories, or anything by Warren Ellis, Brian K. Vaughan, or Alan Moore. Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? I'd like to think I am, but I'm not really. I don't currently play an instrument, but I always wanted to learn acoustic guitar. Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in? I'm more of a plant-assassin than a gardener. Love plants, I just kill them. I'm like the Elmira of plants. I do have a Ginkgo tree though. Seeds wouldn't be unwelcome. Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary? No, I'm in a tiny apartment, I'm rarely at home, and no one would see it but me and my boyfriend (who wouldn't care less). The only thing I decorate for is Christmas, and I just have a tiny little fake tree (can't be more than two feet) with tiny little ornaments and lights. Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you? The number eight follows me. My name is made of words. Not particularly though. Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc? Not in particular, but I'm not against them either. What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? Actor: I'm more into voice actors generally. Don't think I can pick one, but people like Christopher Walken, Ian McKellen, Willem Dafoe, Anthony Hopkins, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy. Director: Hayao Miyazaki, Christopher Nolan. Author: Argh. Picking just one is hard. Well these are the top authors that I really get excited about and honestly love reading always: Jim Butcher, Tanya Huff, Carol Berg, C.S.Friedman, Lynn Flewelling. Musician: If I had to pick just one, I'd have to say Sarah McLachlan. I grew up listening to her, I've sang some of her songs to loved ones, I've taken my Mom to see her in concert once, I've only done Karaoke once but I sang her songs, and I know at least two or three of the CDs by heart. are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? I don't think I've tried anything by Villainess, ever! Hmmm. Out of the Apples update, probably the Just Right soap. Other than that, the Scintillating Mud is pretty much calling my name! And anything else in the Scintillating or Decadence scents look scrumptious. If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? Only have fishies, they don't really do treats or toys. What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? Ooh that's a hard one. For the untried stuff.. I'm generally pretty laid back when I haven't tried a scent yet--I don't know if it's worth fighting for yet! I do have a list at the bottom of my wishlist of the far-fetched scents I'm lemming for. Once I've found something I like, that's when I get frantic. Top Three ZOMGNEEDMOAR!: The Girl (Current BPALicorn! Desperately lusting for a bottle right now.) Black Lace (UNF! LOVE this, wish I had more.) Giant Vulva (Every time I think I can live without it, I try it on again. <3) I've never tried any of the bath oils or atmospheric sprays, but I'm intrigued by Victorian Virgin With Cherubs, Polar Bear Plunge, and Castitas bath oils and the Snow White, and Steeplechase Park or The British Blondes atmospheric sprays. Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls? Well at the moment all my walls are concrete, so I can't really put art up, but I do like art anyhow (and maybe one day I'll be able to put it up). Nothing massive still, smaller than a poster for sure. Most of my favourite artists are concept art / novel cover artists.. Dan Dos Santos, Jo Chen, Julie Dillon (imagine my surprise when I discovered her art involvement in BPAL! I've been following her art since high school!)... But there's nothing in particular that I want. I would have loved one of the Soul Born CCG Playmats by Dan Dos Santos (I'd use it as a mouse pad) but it's sold out. If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase? VERY into this stuff! And just to let you know, I'm cool with used makeup too (certain items, anything that can be sanitized), I buy on Spektra/LJ and just sanitize. LOVE lipstick, and LOVE cream eyeshadows. I am drawn to eyeshadows, but I have a lot already. Need some more brushes too (not just expensive ones, cheap dupes are good too and a lot of the better dupe brands aren't available easily in Canada). Here is my Specktra ISO post. I have pale, warm toned skin. I usually use the lightest or second to lightest tones for face stuff. My hair color is red, there are photos on my website (though it's shorter than in the photos, I can provide a recent one if needed). I really wish I had bought Gem of Roses MAC lipstick when it came out, now it's hard to find. Lots of stuff I want to try, I keep most of my top wanted items on my wishlist. Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? DO NOT like coffee. Blech. I like tea, but I am also set in my ways and not very adventurous in trying new ones. I'd be more interested in flavoured hot chocolate. Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc) I usually use MP3 more than anything (use it on my iTunes on my computer, and on my phone). Can't think of much other than the most recent Sarah McLachlan CD, Laws of Illusion, that I haven't actually heard yet. I don't usually bother much with music lately, I just have a few CDs in rotation. Are you going away for any part of this round? Not for any extended period of time. Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? Sure. =) If your witch were going somewhere on a vacation during the round, would you want a little souvenir? Oooh.. well. I actually would be most interested in a small container of local beach sand, with some of the local beach bits in it (a couple little shells, some glass, some rocks or twigs, whatever is common there) so it's like a little bit of the beach. I have one of those magnetic seasoning jars with a clear front on my fridge filled with the local stuff, and it's my little mini beach. Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"? I enjoy walking in the park/forest, or exploring beaches and looking for shinies. Or just walking and taking photos, observing animals and such. I don't get out or do much other than that. Any witchee's with a ravelry account have any favourited patterns that cost money that would be a welcome gift? N/A Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? Hm. Not that I can think of. Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? I used to listen to more musicals when I was younger. Back then I preferred Chess The Musical, and Jekyll and Hyde. Latest 'musical' I liked was Repo The Genetic Opera. I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.) Most of my life, almost everything I owned was used. Less so now, but it doesn't bother me, as long as it's reasonable. As said upthread, I dig used makeup (as gross as that sounds) but I wouldn't buy it from a thrift store. Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly? Yes! The Amber Dawn. I have a special switch witch discount right now (SWITCHWITCH for 10% off!) and I am switch witch friendly. I'll be listing some cool new pieces over the next week or so as well (including earrings!). I also have a giveaway right now for Facebook fans. Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? Little bit of both I think, lol (sheltered childhood, Disney overload, but I still love it)! Do they have Pixar stuff? That'd be the best bet. Actually if there was something for Cars I'd love to pass it on to my nephew. =) what are your favorite types of Halloween candy? Hm, not many Halloween-specific candies that I can think of. I like caramels, or Milk Duds, Sweet Hearts, Nerds, Sweet Tarts but mostly my favourites are sour, sugar covered gummies, like Sour Cherries, Sour Patch Kids, Fuzzy Peaches, Watermelons, Sour Berries, and lately I've been craving the sugar covered version of the cream soda gummies. Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. Definitely prefer shower gel, but I'd be interested in soap because I know there are a lot of really interesting sounding soaps out there with no gel equivalents. Villainess (listed upthread), LUSH Porridge, or BPTP probably interest me the most. How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? I like my chocolate plain, or with mint, or with almonds, or with peanut butter, or actually caramel sounds good too. Mint or Almonds would probably be my top picks other than plain though. I don't like waxy chocolate. Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? Not particularly, maybe, and lampworked glass beads or natural wood/gem/stone/bone/metal appeal to me more than synthetic. Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! As noted above I do love me some caramel, but I've never tried sea salted caramels! They sound omfgamazing though! Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? Painted sounds itchy and delicate, but hand dyed sounds lovely. Scarf or neckerchief or something of that sort moreso than a wrap, methinks. My etsy wishlist is probably invaluable here, should give you a better idea of what colors and designs and styles that I like than I can. This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? Like the kind you buy at the store? No, I have bunches of local shiny rocks. Interesting, unique, local stones? Sure but I don't need buckets. And another question; anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? Not offhand... but after some shopping: If they work, I'd love a pair of the 2D glasses for my boyfriend. Phoenix Nouveau Babydoll Shirt CableDrop Cable Clips Imperial Death Star Officer's Cap Ingenuitea 16oz Teapot Portable USB Power Supply Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share? Not at the moment. Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? I don't really read e-books, as much as I love reading I just haven't ever gotten into them. If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now? I don't have kids, but I do have nephews. One is 2 and a bit, one is under a year old. I think the older one has a Cars (Pixar) themed bedroom, but other than that I'm not sure. Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) As interesting as those are, I am very rough with my bags and would worry about hurting it. Some sort of felted accessory might be nice (like a broach or hair clip). Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? Depends on what we're talking about. For clothing and accessories, I mostly wear solids--I'm more of a colors person than a pattern person. But I am interested in branching out. I prefer simpler, mostly monochromatic, plant and flora related prints. Stuff like Liberty of London, and Amy Butler. Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? Um, sure? I do like tea and hot chocolate. Something for at my desk, or something more like a travel mug for at work. If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? I usually just drink Tetley Orange Pekoe or Earl Grey tea in tea bags, and I don't need more of those. My favourite 'herbal' tea is Snow Dew Tea. Wouldn't mind trying Sweet Indulgence by Hancha Tea, which seems to be a more local seller of a similar tea. I'm also a fan of Genmaicha. I am not hugely adventurous (I'm more likely to drink the same old tea everyday, than try something new everyday) but I wouldn't mind some interesting teas. Loose leaf or bag preferred. How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? House stuff is great! I'd rather it be functional and beautiful, rather than a souvenir though. How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? I wore a purple-grey sleeveless scoop neck tent dress, with dangle earrings, strappy black stilettos with silver detailing, and a purple-grey satin clutch purse I sewed myself. I love dressing up, but don't have much dressy clothes or accessories, and don't get out much. Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc) Not particularly. I used to do Mensa, but it's been a long time. Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? I'll have to get back to you on that one. How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? Sure! If it can be mailed to me. Anything exotic or interesting that I can't get here. I prefer sour, fruity, vodka martinis or other mixed drinks, so any of those ingredients. My boyfriend loves dark European beers, and whiskey. We have also been known to indulge in sake once in a while. What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) I don't have fudge often, but I do like to have it once in a while! Mostly just stick to chocolate, chocolate with nuts, or maple. Don't know if I've ever tried any other flavours (except for peanut butter, which just isn't my favourite). I also like brownies, mostly just plain ones though, and chewy. Definitely chewy. Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? Um, don't know if I've ever tried mochi. I love Ggul tteok though and haven't had it in a while ((꿀떡) - literally means "tteok with honey" but the tteok is stuffed with Korean syrup. Ggul tteok is similar to songpyeon in shape, but smaller in size), and also Manduguk with Tteok. =D Actually haven't had any Korean food really (other than Kimbap) since I left Korea. Anything from the update ya'll are liking? BPTP UPDATE Nothing is super ridiculously grabbing me, but I've never tried bath oils, and the hair glosses are really drawing me! So these are the best contenders I think, but I'll be keeping a close eye on the reviews: Spun Sugar Spectre Bath Oil Marshmallow Pumpkin Bath Oil Blue Ringed Octopus Spittle Fig And White Sandalwood Hair Gloss (Not sure, I want to try hair gloss, not sure on fig.) Though I might just hold out because I'm even more interested in the coconut and vanilla bean hair gloss that is being teased! Does anyone like kimchi? I haven't actually eaten it since I was in Korea, though I ate it frequently when I was there. Would you be interested in a sample box (from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? Well, the ones available in Canada are different I think? But I'd be intrigued at least. You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? Pft. I'd need a spending limit to actually be able to make any decisions! Let's say ... 200$ just as a random number. With 200$: Sprinklecake Halloween: Las Vegas The Glittering Apple of the Stars? (One weenie, not sure which) Zephyr Paris (For my sister) Lyonesse (Backup for my mom) Dorian (Backup) Enraged Bunny Musk (for me) and Snow White 2008 (for my mom) off of the BPAL Etsy I'd coerce Puddin into finding a Mourning Moon Tee for me and posting it on Etsy And some wandcaps Not really that exciting actually, but most of the stuff I'm desperate for is long ago LE or not available on the site (The Girl, Giant Vulva, Black Lace, Knockout Drops, etc), or unimpable, or I'm still waiting for reviews. I'd for sure get Sprinklecake, probably Halloween: Las Vegas, I really want a bottle of Zephyr, and most of the rest is just for convenience sake because I haven't been able to swap for them yet. I kind of want some hair gloss and some bath oil, just not full sizes, and I am really interested to see what new lockets are going to be released. Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? Never looked at Paintbox stuff before, but this is what caught my eye: The Man in The Moon Sorbetto Sweet Cheeks Sorbetto Pick A Duck Sorbetto Nihilist Soap Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh Soap Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes I don't do sports at all. My sister and her family like the Canucks though, they're pretty into it. How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I am drawn to paper products, but I own a LOT of those types of things and never use them. So unless it's particularly awesome or special, no thanks. Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Quiver in terror? I'd probably be more frustrated having to clean it up. The bigger, shaped confetti is okay though, just nothing really small and messy that sticks to everything (the boyfriend would definitely NOT be impressed!). Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? I don't know what this means. How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? As with everything else, I prefer quality and meaningfulness over quantity. I do like pillow-style plushies, but don't have any right now. I am a fan of Ice bat, or would love a plushie in that style, specifically of a squirrel, bat, bunny, cat, or owl. how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did? Those are cute, I wouldn't mind a set. =) When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? Salt and Vinegar chips (helps with sore throat), ginger ale or pink Schweppes, Neocitran (If this wasn't medicated, I would drink this all the time! Maybe I was just sick a lot as a kid, but I like it--the normal lemon one. If you know of something that tastes the same I'm all for it!), someone fetching me snacks and coddling me, snuggling in a blankie and pillow nest on the couch, and falling asleep to movies or TV. What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) Uh, I don't know if I know what ultimate luxury is. I've never had a manicure or pedicure or massage or facial or anything like that, never been to a spa or the hot springs, never had my makeup professionally done, never been on vacation in my life (only school trips or travelling for work), never been to a fancy hotel... The list goes on and on! I guess since I ache right now, a body massage would be nice, and a mani/pedi just cause I've never had one, and get a haircut too at my favourite hairdresser cause I LOVE getting a new haircut and I'm overdue. Since I'm going crazy, may as well get my hairdresser to put a pop of color in my hair (been wanting to do that forever, just too expensive--actually, I wouldn't mind trying a little colored hair clip in, or even a wig, I've always wanted to have a crazy awesome bright glam wig for dressing up in). And since we're talking luxury, I'd go to dinner with my boyfriend and a movie, buy some nice chocolate on the way home, and I'd have to get someone to come clean my house for me during the day, because that wouldn't be a very luxurious end to the day after all that. x) I think basically ultimate luxury to me is treating myself to the things I've always wanted and not worrying about the cost, as well as getting people to do things for me/to me, and not having to do it myself. =) What do you really NOT want? Hm.. mostly just, stuff I won't use. I'd rather get a smaller number of items I'll actually use and love than a bunch of extra filler that I'll feel bad for giving away. I have a wide variety of hobbies and interests, but at the same time I am living in a 550 square foot apartment with my boyfriend and I'm trying to declutter my life (I just got rid of five garbage bags of stuff last month, and still need to get rid of more!!) as much as possible. So while I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore minimalist, I am trying very hard to reduce the amount of stuff I have, and only own things that I will use frequently. interested in anything from Lush? I've never owned anything from LUSH, mostly because the scents are so overpowering, and between that and the price (which doesn't seem too bad anymore, price paradigm shift!) it just hasn't happened. BUT, these are the ones I keep almost buying: Jackie Oates Colour Supplement Dream Cream Bubblegum Lip Scrub Porridge Soap and I Love Juicy Shampoo for the boy. Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? Sort of? I have a business blog and facebook, and both of them need a bit of a facelift, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'd be interested in a profile image, header, or layout, yes. Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? Sure, but preferably something unobtrusive. If a receipt is going to be easier, I'll do it, so something that makes me want to use it is good. do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies (ingredients: semi-sweet chocolate chips, PB, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, chex cereal)? would you want to get some from your witch / nacho witch? Never had it. How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. It would have to be really, really local, or really worth going out of my way. I don't have a car, work two jobs, and have to walk everywhere. Plus if it's a two-person deal, I'd have to coordinate with the boy's schedule too. Don't know if they do it, but if there was something for the Capilano Suspension Bridge, Van Dusen Botanical Garden, Dr Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden, or the Vancouver Aquarium, I'd definitely be interested. I have a favourite hairdresser, so that's out. I don't know much about groupon, so I don't know what I might not like. Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? Ooh, yes! I have one of the bronzer ones, and one of the travel powder ones. I want to get the dual fiber/skunk brush for sure, and other than that I was most interested in the blush brush and maybe another bronzer brush (I love it!), but any would be loved. =D Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? I have a long lego history, but not much room in my apartment... The lego ice cube tray would be cool though. If I did get legos, I'd probably pass them on to my nephews for when they are old enough. Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. Oooh 50$ huh? Hmmm... Can I add some change to that? For sure I'd get Zephyr, since I need a bottle for my "top ten" box (I'm OCD like that and want bottles of all my top tens in my box), maybe get a bottle of Paris for my sister (it's her favourite so far, and she doesn't have any bottles yet, unlike my mom lol!), and either four GC imps (Osun, Tweedledee, Veil, Yemaya), or one weenie bottle depending (not sure which yet, still watching reviews). Are there any characters that you love or identify with? Hmm.. So many hard questions! Hm. I don't know if there is a character that I particularly identify with, or at least I can't think of one. A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? To look at: realistic humanoid sculptures (like, greco/roman, etc--if you saw my photos from my trip to Europe, it's almost all sculptures), architecture, oil painting portraiture, realism, surrealism, concept art, book covers, etc. To create: Usually semi-realism, it's usually best if I 'warm up' by doing something pretty mindless or simple to get me jump started, then once I lose myself in the art I know I've reached the butter zone. Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? Not familiar with Arcana, but Tess is particularly interesting me, followed by 1816. So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? Other than how unlikely it is? Probably not, just because I work two jobs, plus my boyfriends schedule, and my sleep schedule is weird.. Plus my house is small and not company appropriate. I'd be open to meeting for coffee/drinks though! What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself? I've been searching for the perfect layering cardigan for years. Also interested in a pair of small bright sky blue/aqua stud earrings (stone or glass or enamel preferred over plastic). Um... I need new shoe laces for my work shoes (no rainbows! Something relatively conservative. The shoes are murky swamp green.). And random, but I've been really into blue clothing and accessories lately, I really want some more. How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Never actually owned one yet, but I have a few on my nail polish wishlist (up)! Chemicals are fine, holo is always cool, and refer to previous nail polish question. Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I don't often use lip balm, but I do like it. Twist up is best for in my purse, though tube with wand might also be nice. I'm actually interested in the Tinted Lip Conditioners from MAC (I tried Soothing Beige and liked it, but would like other warm reds/corals too). Don't really like lip balms with weird medical/off flavours, not huge on flavours at all--except for Jack Black, which I have mint, and want to get more flavours of (most interested in the lemon one I think). I don't know if I need it, but I want more lip balm. =) Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) I have a lot of unused art supplies, but I'm sure I could come up with something I want. For those interested in watercolors, how would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? Probably not.. I can't see the image but it sounds like something that wouldn't make it across the border. How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) I have way too much unused art supplies, but I am addicted to them... The thing I could use the most would probably be Windsor and Newton water mixable oil paints. How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? Never bought anything before, but taking a look, these interest me the most: Peacock At Night Squinjas! Psychedelic Garden Ghost Dot To Dot The Woods Belongs To Me Decay Scoop Neck If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? Ooh, well, for one I wish that Canadian drug stores had comparable prices to US ones, and that we had the brands you guys have! =P But, I would probably get one or two of the new Sally Hansen insta-dri polishes, maybe an eco tools brush or a Revlon lipstick, and probably a Toblerone mini bar. Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? Not particularly, sorry! I don't really like any pickled things (other than pickles!), and don't have any experience with jarred or preserved items either. Do you prefer color or white photographs? Nature or abstract? Hm. Probably color, but muted or mostly monochromatic with a pop of color. Nature, or architecture, or sculpture, or abstract. =) You can see my old flickr here, I wouldn't put all of those on my walls, but it gives you an idea of what I like (not that I'm the best photographer! But, you can see a bit of the kind of subjects, colors, and cropping I like). would you be interested in something like this? https://lostcrates.com/how-it-works I'm not much of a gambler, so I'd rather something you picked out. =) Amigurumi, yes or no? Not particularly. I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! You know.. I really don't have any! Huh. I really should. =X If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? Probably a nature scene, something interesting to look at so I could stare at it for hours, but simple and calming at the same time. Something like the view of Active Pass on Galiano Island, or an ocean/beach/forest scene. Or like this painting by Tom Thomson, which I've been wanting a print of. Name your 3 favorite scents for candles Plain Beeswax Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea Orange Pekoe/Earl Grey Snow Dew Tea (see above) Genmaicha Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? I think I wear scoop neck or v-neck shirts more than t-shirts. Or tank tops, or tank dresses. I prefer simple, artistic designs (usually inspired by nature) that can be dressed up or down. Refer to the Threadless question for some examples of what I like in terms of color and design and content. It's more about the treatment of the imagery than the specific images in general, I think. Sure I'd love one designed by my witch (I wouldn't mind a T-shirt, but if I had a choice I'd prefer a scoop/v-neck tee or tank/tank dress)! Depends on the brand, but anywhere from medium to extra large. Large or Extra Large is probably the safest bet. How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... Hm, probably not. Only because my boyfriend is extremely sensitive to scents, and he complains enough about the scents that I love, and my face washes and such, I'd prefer to just use scents and scented products that I love or have to use. Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? Don't know it. If you had an international witch, is there anything you would like from the UK? (Or Australia, Belgium, France any other country we have witches from. Probably! Makeup, Embroylisse Lait-Crème Concentré, or other cool local stuff would be interesting. Dear witchee, if you answered 'Mac' to the Mac/PC question previously issued by another participant, please tell me what kind of computer you have, what peripherals you own (like the wireless trackpad, wireless vs/wired keyboard and mouse), and whether you're interested in Apple-related items (stickers, keychains, other things with the logo, etc). N/A SOCK PREFERENCES? I mostly only wear work socks, and I wear them until I wear holes in the heels. I like 3/4 length socks, that are a little bit thicker (so I don't wear through them so quickly) but not like, winter-sock-thick. Would you like/wear a pair of these? http://www.ravelry.c...rary/yoga-socks If so, what color? Oh I used to cut up old socks and do that.. Sure? Any of my favourite clothes colors. Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? I don't mind them, but rarely wear anything other than work socks. Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? Hm.. I do have a small DVD collection, but I haven't really been adding to it since I don't really have time to rewatch anything. I don't have the 7th Harry Potter yet, I'd be interested in getting Tangled (Disney) or Borrower Arrietty (Studio Ghibli), my boyfriend and I would probably wear out the DVDs if we had the Invader Zim series, and I'm really surprised I don't own The Fifth Element yet. Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? I think postcards would be pretty cool. Anyone going to see any good concerts this fall? No plans to, no. Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? I grew up with TNG, so that's my favourite, though I really haven't seen that much of any of them, I just have residual knowledge of all of it. And probably Picard, because he is a pimp. X) Witchee, would you like a framed photograph and of what? I can't hang anything since my walls are concrete, but a prett

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

Alright, I'm not (that) new to BPAL, but I've always wanted to post here (I've just been too shy). Here I go anyhow! I'm 25, Aquarius/Tiger, Red-head with hazel eyes and glasses, currently living in Vancouver. For most of my life I had two-three feet of hair--now it's more of an asymmetrical half inverted bob/half boycut. I don't have any tattoos, but I've had up to 12 piercings at one time. I'm tall for a girl, but not tall enough to be "really tall". Always been an academic and a bookworm, first child of two, so I got straight A's for most of my school life. Up until this last year, I didn't paint my nails, didn't wear makeup, didn't care about clothes or purses or shoes, and didn't use perfume--but in the last year all of those things have starting happening (o_o!). Historically my wardrobe has been purely hand-me-down and second hand, lately I've been coming to terms with my personal issues with money and actually buying new things for the first time in my life. I have a diploma in Visual Arts, and an affinity for charcoal and oil painting. I've traveled across Europe, lived in South Korea, and worked in a small town in Alberta. I've done a Buddhist temple stay, and I've been in sex shops on three continents. If I had to choose one place to travel to for pleasure, I'd be hard pressed but I'd likely pick Japan or New York. I love reading and stories in general. I am a pan-fandom geek, I like movies, tv, comics, manga, graphic novels, webcomics, webisodes, videogames, mmo's, and so on. Sci-fi and Fantasy call my name, but I love a good story, particularly if it's 'different'. I've always been the quirky one, and a beacon for the strange and helpless. I guess I was always accepting, and not judgmental, so that drew people to me. I spent a lot of my high school life questioning gender and sexuality norms and supporting/defending LGBT students and issues. I'm less flagrantly weird now than in high school, but only because a lot of what singled me out has become normal and popular, and unlike highschool, real life doesn't involve as much enforced socialization with large groups of your peers. I'm pretty much solitary, I don't have any social life or friends thanks to my work schedule, and I spend most of my free time when I'm not at my jobs playing PC games, reading, painting, organizing stuff, walking in the park, taking photos, or indulging in one of my current obsessions (lately, shopping for new makeup, painting my nails, and BPAL).

    Anything laundryish?

If you're looking for a "fresh fabric" type smell, I'd say try Zephyr. I just got it and whenever I put it on I feel like I'm laying on a big fluffy sun-warmed blanket, on a big antique bed, laying in the sunlight in a south-facing attic bedroom on a dry-hot day. It's probably the most evocative scent I've tried, in terms of visualization, I don't usually interpret scents visually but this one just sticks with me. The dry-heat, sun-warmed blanket smell might be something you'd like though.

What do bottles and labels look like?

I don't know... but I have these two, if that helps: Number One Number Two
  24. Alright, maybe out of left field here... But I've recently fallen head-over-heels for How Doth the Little Crocodile and I was wondering if there was anything else you guys can recommend that are in the same vein? I've tried a tonne of chocolate scents, but wood and nuts are usually very disastrous deal-breakingly bad notes on me and this one just breaks all the rules. (I see in the review thread references to Tombstone, Velvet, Boomslang, Wulric, and alot of other chocolate/woodsy scents that were all terrible on me.) Also, does it mellow with age? Alot of people in the reviews seem to be describing something much more strongly choco-mint than what I seem to be experiencing... Am I going to have to cellar it?

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

Threadkiller? Anyhow, I came here to confirm that for me at least, Xiuhecuhtli and The First of the Three Spirits are very very similar, but not exactly the same. If you're pining for some (or more) of The First, Xiuhecuhtli should soothe the itch at least. I actually tried Xiuhecuhtli, The First of the Three Spirits, and Giant Vulva, all together last night. Giant Vulva is definitely more citrus-y and the easiest to single out of the three--but definitely in the same scent family. The First seems... rounder and smoother than Xiuhecuhtli, but almost too much for me sometimes. Xiuhecuhtli seems closer to Giant Vulva when wet, but on the dry down I had a hard time telling it apart from The First, except it seemed simpler and cleaner, almost sharper (but not stronger, just more direct if that makes sense). I still like all three of course.
