I was looking through my purse, and came across this imp in my bag, probably aged at least 6m. Since I am currently a leather\musk fiend, gotta give this a go. In the imp, sharp vetiver w/leather lurking underneath. Thank god, none of the 'chemical' tone new leather blends tend to have. Wet on the skin- the vetiver is dominate, but the musk and leather are making themselves known. Dry- mostly leather and vetiver, but the musk is apparent on the background. This is dead on sexy, how you would expect a really hot, charismatic man casually wearing a leather jacket would smell. But very wearable for me. This is a bottle purchase for sure for me.

This is a slightly 'warmer' version of Midwinters Eve on me. Same deep Plum, soft florals, but with a slight richness I attribute to the cream. Fortunately for this floral hater the flowers remain in the background, as they do in MWE, and the plum is dominate. I do like this, not enough to buy a bottle, but the 3 imps the lab has given me will stay.

I lusted after this blend for quite a while, and now that I have it, I'm on the fence. In the bottle and wet on the skin there is something sharp and chemical like going on with the leather. Perhaps because its fresh, or maybe because it is, indeed, BLACK leather. On drydown it disappears, leaving a far more subtle note. The amber is the best I have ever smelled. Period. The oppanox adding a bit of depth to it. No tobacco detected in this blend. I'm going to let this bottle sit and age for a bit, and see what happens. I by no means have any desire to get rid of it, but I hope some aging will improve the initial stages of it.

Thanks so much to Malibusunny for letting me have some of this! In the bottle: heavy, dark plum, incense and something cinnamon like. Me likey! On me wet: I used a VERY sparing amount to test as I only have an imp, but the incense really blooms, blending well with the rich plum, the cinnamon moving slightly to the background, and a hint of sandalwood bringing a slightly woodsy scent to it. On me dry: this has amazing throw on me considering the itsy-bitsy amount I tested. I am catching wafts from my wrists more then a foot away. Dry this all comes together on a very sultry spicy way, the spiciness to the fore, the deep plum grounding it. I can also detect the sandalwood along the edges, rounding everything out. Love this. I am now absolutely kicking myself for not buying the bottle that had been sitting on eBay for a while a few months ago. This is my absolute favorite BPAL to date, even trouncing my beloved Ghoulish for being 'me'. Will need to sell my soul to obtain a bottle, and this imp is going into my super-secret dark hiding spot!

Civet usually scares me, but as I was in a 'heavy' mood today, I decided to give this imp a try for the first time in the year or so since I got it. In the imp: yup, Civet loud and clear, with the opium in the back ground. But what the hell. Wet on the skin: the civet and the opium warring for control, very little musk. Dry on the skin: Now we're talking! Opium taking over, obliterating the civet, and bringing that wonderful musky spicy scent I love to the fore. I quite like this, and I see it being unisex as well. Will have to get a bottle. Moderate throw, but still on me 12 hours after application.

This oil was one of my high priority wish list items, but unfortunately this did not live up to my expectations. In the bottle: Holy Moly red musk! Absolutely wafting from the bottle, and almost put me off from skin testing. Wet on skin: red musk, patchulli, and what might be the nicotania. A bit... Sour. No cocoa at all. Dry on skin: grape wine, pleasant, but not quite what I was wanting. Where's the cocoa? This has moderate length and throw. I am going to sit on this a bit before deciding what to do with it.

This is my second favorite BPAL love just behind Ghoulish. I have 2 bottles but should seriously get several more before this leaves. In the bottle this is cherries jubilee, spicy, thick and slightly smokey. I can definately get the cardamom and cassia, keeping it warm. I believe the Pachoulli gives the smokey aspect to the blend, giving it the mysterious quality I love. Total winner.

I get no cherry in this blend, just cocoa and orange blossom. However, this blend made me realize not all floral notes are doom on me. I quite like this a lot.

I have 2 partial bottles of this won off of eBay, different years, and while there are slight differences, the overall 'tone' is the same. Deep plum is the predominate note, like both Bordello and Sugar Plum Fairy, but while those smell either warm (Bord) or floral (SPF) this is decidedly chill. Frosty. I don't get anything floral, just a cool plum scent. I do like this a lot.

This was just rose on my skin. No mahogany, tonka, vanilla, or coffee. Just rose. I was hoping to try and find a blend that would change my mind about rose, and hoped this would do it as I love the other notes. Sadly no. I had to wash this off

I managed to squeeze in an order of this just before it got pulled, and the post shipped it to me in 4 days! I got this as a birthday present. Boy, glad I chose this! In the bottle its mostly cardamon and bourbon, with a hint of leather. On me.... This is the leather of the strap you bite on when getting a taws applied to your back end. Worn, black and sleek. This is UUNGH...! Good! Bourbon and cardamon backing it up, almost no patchulli. This is awesome. I want to do bad things to myself right now. Or better yet, go find that hottie 10+ years younger then me waiter who sang me happy birthday the other night, slather it on him and do bad things. I should have tried to obtain more!

There is a spot just south of the golden gate bridge, at the top of 19th avenue where the air is saturated with. Eucalyptus, mint and pine, with the salty air of the bay in the background. That is the scent of San Francisco to me. Had this scent been like that, I would have bought gallons, gladly. Sadly, this was damp grass on me, and I had to pass my bottle on.

Some of the reviews have compared this as a cross between Dk chocolate cherry (which I have) and either Midnight kiss or Enraged groundhog musk (neither of which I have tried). To me this smells like Dk chocolate cherry meets Countess Willie. The deep cocoa is there, as is the wonderful blooming red cherry I so love. But this is mustier, spicier, and very sensual. Very me. I don't get much 'Green' in here. But that's fine by me. Great to have to alternate with C W when I want have this 'tone' of scent to wear. Whoever let their bottle go on eBay, thank you so much! It has a loving home with me!

Another purchase from about 3 years ago, been buried in the 50 or so bottles I own *laugh*. This is a sweet creamy scent, like vanilla or soft coconut in the bottle. On me its just an overall creamy scent on me. Soft, and long wearing.

This is my first BPAL purchase from 3 years ago. A sweet mix of blackberry and something green (sage?) underneath. This is a good day scent on me as it is pretty soft on my skin, almost a skin scent. Great for summer weather!

Milk Chocolate, Raw Ginger, and Butterscotch
Larinessa replied to AmandaArcana's topic in Lupercalia
I bought this for my younger sisters birthday, and was a good girl and resisted the temptation to test is on myself. So my review is based on how it smells on her. In the bottle: strong spicy ginger with the chocolate and butterscotch in the background. On her skin: the butterscotch leaps to the forefront with the ginger adding some spiciness to the brew, and the milk chocolate rounding out the edges. Amazing throw on her, she didn't slather, but during our walk through the zoo yesterday I was getting wafts of it off her. My sister is thrilled with her first BPAL scent! -
Apricot + clove = win! Love this and I am sad its no longer available. It layers fabulously with Intrigue.

Truest leather note I have ever smelled. Being a renaissance festival girl, this smells just like the leather armor one of my guy friends wears (also red). Lovely. Great throw, and longevity on me. Bottle purchase for sure.

In Vice, and now in Vixen I realize there is finally a floral note that not only do I not hate, but actually really love: orange blossom! In the imp this is pretty sharp patchouli, but on my skin its the orange blossom that moves into the fore (same as in vice). Lovely. I think I may need a bottle of this in the future.

This is one of my 'holy grail' scents and is hasent disappointed me! In the bottle: deep dark cherry with smooth dark chocolate under it. On me the cherry brightens up smelling exactly like the inside of the cherry cordials I so love from godiva. Rich, deep and sweet. The dark chocolate gets even richer and creamier. Yummy. And it has serious lasting power on my skin. And best of all, my skin doesn't suck up the cherry and make it disappear!

This is the 2010 Version I bought a half bottle off a lovely forum friend. In the bottle I get strong patchulli and some red apple. Fresh applied patchulli and a very faint wiff of apple. Dry, patchulli and the apple is coming out a bit. While I like this, I am not in love. I am glad I have this portion, and will leave it to age for the fall, I don't think it will displace my beloved Devil's Night and Jack for my autumn scents. This scent is starting to really grow on me. The apple is coming out more in the bottle, and I am getting a bit of the fir as well. I think p may try layering this over Jack or Creepy to see what this baby does. I may have to hunt down another bottle of this, say, the 2006 version or 2007. May become a fave after all.

Who ever said this smells like sex is right. On me, this is wonderful. I got a sample of this in an order from another wonderful forum member, and could not resist trying a tiny amount even though my best friend had said I had to wait until she was around to try it. This is softest seude with the lingering scent of tobacco and coffee in the background. The spices peek around the edges of it and wave, but are not overwhelming. It smells soft, subtle, and invites the sniffer to come in closer. LOVE!!! I will now make this my current 'holy grail' scent and will scoure the earth to find myself a bottle. Beth, I bow to your mastery!

I got this as a frimp about a year ago and was so put off by how strong it was even without opening it I put it in my little cedar chest without even trying it. Today I was looking for something out of my usual bottle rotation to wear and came across it and noticed the scent wasn't as strong so I decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. Wet it came across as a rich, buttery spicy chocolate caramel mix. Heady, like walking into one of those candy shops that make chocolates, caramels and those terrible for your waistlines prailine turtles. Dry, it mellowed out and became smoother. 10 hours later I am getting a wonderful dark chocolate caramel scent wafting from my body. I think I may need to get a bottle and let it age for a year.

Dionysia smells exactly like a potpurri that my mother had when I was a child. While it brings back memories, I don not care to smell like it. This unfortunately does not work as a perfume for me, but it is fabulous as a room oil.

Jack is a fabulous autumn scent that reminds me of when I was a kid and my mother was making pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. Warm, spicy, and slightly buttery. Yummy.
