Butterscotch and nommy patchuli. Will need to seek a bottle of this!
-
Very similar to Midway Res to my nose. Salty blast of popcorn initially that settles into a creamy sugary cotton candy scent with the underlining scent of fried pastries. I didn't get into BPAL until after Midway was released and always wished I could have gotten a bottle. Mouse Circus will amply fill the bill! This is wonderful.

I put votes in for both Bordello and Wanda!

On me, this smells like the love child of Black Butterfly Moon and Lady McBeth. Deep purple, moody, dark, lovely orchid with an almost wine note. (Guess that's the pear and blue musk?) Lovely, brooding, sweet, and haunting. Another orchid win for me.

Plunder. its fabulous.

Capt 'n crunchin berries. Tasty but I don't need a bottle of this.

Yay for more orchids! This is the same orchid note as my beloved Great Vampire Bat. Slightly damp, rich and beautiful. The gardenia has a supporting role, and I can detect the oppanax and moss. Beautiful.

Heady is right.... This is a deep smokey orchid, rich and almost slightly cinnamon like in the depth of it. The orchid is outstanding, like being in a dark gypsy tent while the incense wafts around you and you gaze tranfixed as the fire light illuminates a lush bouquet of dark colored exotic orchids. LOVE.

Sweet scents, sugar notes & things that smell like candy

Oh, gee, forgot to add Gypsy (Moth) from the Metas 2 years ago. Powder sugar goodness. -
This is nearly a dead on ringer for Ghoulish on my skin. Subtle difference being a slight spiciness to Ghoulish whereas this is slightly creamy. None of the Rozolj liqure that I was curious about. I have 3 bottles of Ghoulish so no need to hunt down a bottle for me.

Sugar skull from the halloweenies is pure brown sugar on a lot of peoples skin. Le essence de Le' Engoument (a Trading Post Luper from this year) is very sweet strawberry sugar on me. Gollettes from the weenies 2 years ago smells like the sugary glaze of glazed doughnuts. -
Intrigue comes across as very 'woody' to my nose. Shadowy palm, fig and cocoa. I don't get much of the cocoa myself, but its a very deep 'Brown' scent.

Champagne, chocolate and cheap sex is like a slightly chocolately 7-up scent, and I definitely get a cream soda vibe from vespertillio proterus (bats '12) -

Darkest orchid and general orchid discussion

Looking through the search engine I have narrowed it down to wanting to try Black Butterfly Moon, Medea, Queen Mab, Lamia, and Ile de la Tortue. I really want the smokey/earthy/orchid combo. Lady in a speckled pink kimono sounds too sweet and pink, Manhattan has lemon and tea, both doom notes for my skin. perhaps when the etsy site hits the 'B' section black orchid will be among them. As for Le petite Morte, I have it, but it reads more powder then anything on me. Ahhhh.... the tragedy of falling in love with a super rare (GVB). Truly is a gorgeous scent. But thank you lovely ladies for your suggestions! -
Darkest orchid and general orchid discussion

Hey all, I recently fell in love with Great Vampire Bat and have decided that orchids is a floral note that I am obsessed with. Anyone with good recommendations of blends where the orchids take center stage? I love the sound of Black Butterfly Moon, since I am looking for the 'dark' orchid blends, but any other not-to-be-missed ones out there? I looked to see if a thread had been started on this lovely floral but I didn't see one. If I was wrong, feel free to merge mods! Thanks so much! -
Thanks and praise to me generous fairy! In the bottle: deep chocolate. *drool* Wet on skin: deep chocolate and patchulli, rounded out with what I believe is the mahogany and teak. *love* Dry: the chocolate is blending with the earthier notes to create a smooth rich almost coffee like scent. The musks are coming out, and I definitely detect black musk as one of the two. The other I am guessing must be a brown musk. Can't really detect the sasparilla but this is so rich and lovely. Along the same lines as Arabian Dance or Dark Chocolate Whiskey Cognac in that respect. Will no doubt age to magnificence. Another bat for the win! This is going to be gorgeous in the fall!

Again, thanks to my fairy! In the bottle: bright ginger, lime, and something softly creamy. Wet on skin: fizzy lime with a melted creamsicle. Yum. Dry: gingery creamsicle, the lime taking a back seat. Tremendous throw on me for the first 2 hours, then it calms way down. The the result is a rich slightly spicy creamy scent. Don't get much of the fig, but the fresh ginger scent is present. This is the first 'cream' tone BPAL that I have tried, and its really quite pretty. The earlier part of the wearing reads 'summer' to me, the late dry down fall/winter. This is definitely a keeper. Edit: so cream decided not to play nice with me, the second testing made me nausous to the point of a headache. This blend is going to be going to its new home soon of someone who loves it.

Although I generally run screaming from florals, something said I had to give this one a chance. I did a light testing the day I got my bottles, and this one was the one my nose kept getting drawn to so it gets the honor of the first full day run In the bottle: slightly aquatic floral. Wet on the skin: Definitely a rich orchid note (my favorite flower) backed buy a subtle incense note. The aquatic 'feel' is present, if not an actual note. Dry: seeming to be equal tandums of orchids and incense. They blend so beautifully together they seem seamless. This is a moderate throw on my skin, but I agree with the earlier posts that this will probably waft wonderfully on hot humid summer nights. This is a subtle sexy. A mysterious sexy. Something you wear when your out at night, wearing an open back dress, and you want to draw a guys attention not in a 'putting it all out there' sort of way, but in a subtle lure sort of way. Ever so grateful to my fairy for the pick up. This blend is absolutely beautiful, and I know if I see it up for sale I won't hesitate to grab another bottle. After testing all my bats, this is my favorite. Top 5 for sure!!!! Awww bleeding hell. This is tied for first with Ghoulish. A truly exotic and gorgeous scent. I can't seem to stopped adding praise.

This was the winner of the bottle arrivals today, and from first sniff catupulted itself into my top ten! Nommy fermented Apple cider with heady ginger and probably other spices. Tremendous throw, a little goes a long way (in the Jack category for that!). Delicious, and making me crave the hard Apple ciders I drink in the fall. So glad this is general catalog, I will be buying this often!

Never smelled lilac fuegere before, but I like it! Overall this blend strikes me as ethereal and light, I do get the musk, tonka, leather and lilac, no one more dominate then the other. Very sensual and evocative of Jareth, with a touch of wistful longing in it. Not overpowering or long wearing, but I bet it will age well. Edit: wore this today for the first all day run, and I LOVE the Oud/Tonka drydown combo! Smokey and warm, and deeply yummy. A winner!

Today its going to be Water Dragon 2012 for its lovely peony note

Soap, soap, soap....... glad I resisted my initial impulse to buy two bottles of this.

This is wonderful. I searched for a decant for sentimental reasons (usually 'cool' notes don't work on me), but as this is my favorite dance in the nutcracker I wanted to have a bit. In the decant- pine with a cool undertone. Like a snow covered bough. Wet on skin- pine, with some vanilla mint peeking through, slightly worried mint might go menthol on me. Dry- sweet soft pine with a dusting of cool vanilla. lovely, I can actually see this as being something I would wear on a frequent basis as its soft, sweet and refreshing without being obnoxious. Love.

Raised doughnuts with strawberry glaze over them. Yummy, sweet, and very pink.
