This just goes awesome on me. The White Tea is strong but smooth during the wet phase. Smells very oriental during this phase. Drydown is sweeter, smoother and more citrusy..still oriental. Overall wonderful.

    Thirteen (13): November 2015

Whoa horsey! Yum. I'm in floral vanilla honey heaven. This chocolate note, whatever it is, is a perfect backdrop for this skin parfait. No honey goes powdery, no vanilla or sugar goes cloying. Its a perfect man-trap gourmand. Seeking a bottle. This is the best 13 I've tested yet.

    Drunk Uncle

A Drunk Uncle it is! He's a bit savvier about cocktails, less trashy. Funny and a bit frightening.... but hey, the holidays wouldn't be the same without this poor scapegoat. Its a mix of strong, tricky, sneak-up-on-ya, manly cocktails involving bourbon rum and a dash of gin or vodka, a bit of holiday cheer (buttery sweet foods) and maybbbbeeee a drop of bay rum cologne. Its really not as bad as I feared, reading past reviews. It goes pretty sweet buttery and boozy on me. If labelled as a sexy, prohibition era holiday party back-dropped by an art deco bedecked room with a relic of an opium den in a hidden corner of the mansion, I think it would sell hand over fist. Let's imagine and snatch up the bottles while we can!

    Isidore’s Phoenix

This is a lovely purple, low-throw perfume. The resins are present as well as the plum on drydown. Violets pouf when wet hence what I understand as the hairspray/white rain thing...it passes. I little like Morgause, but even quieter and a bit sweeter. Not bad!

Whoa WHAT am I amping in this that makes it so awesome?! This scent is The Shit for gourmand citrus and apricot lovers. I would dare say fans of the extinguished March Hare should test this. Yup. I smelled baked bread. Yes, butter too. I wanna stay home and eat buttered toast with apricot jam allll dayyyy... No welding. Just eating, thanks. Its the same bread/butter notes from Bread and Butterfly but with better company. Its warm and glowy (thanks mandarin amber) and tasty.

    Bjúgnakrækir

Yea, so.. I needed to know what a sweaty pear was and that drove me to a decant. Basically, this is fruity coconut suntan lotion on me. The leather, beaver sacs (castoreum), and tonka are suppressed by my skin's ability to amp that tropical bastard enough you'd swear I was holding a neon "COCONUT!" sign. Jealousy will drive me to watch further reviews.

    Gluggagægir

Wondering why there aren't more reviews for this one? Its basically Perversion minus the grape note and a bit drier due to the frankincense. Its got that same sexy tobacco note as French Tobacco SN. Pretttttty awesommmmme, if you ask me. Wonderful combination of rum, leather, tobacco and sandalwood. On the drydown, the tobacco cures itself a bit. The woodiness comes out in modest amount. Not enough to kill the sexy notes. I can't imagine a single leather, tobacco, or rum fan being disappointed with this. Its balanced enough to keep your id in check (psychologically speaking).... just reminds yourself and smellers that you have extreme potential for naughtiness.

    Haute Macabre smell alikes

For overall atmosphere and similar sex appeal, yes, Snake Oil. Also try: Perversion Bow & Crown of Conquest Liz Sara Pezzini Captain Cully Antikythera Mechanism Haunted (musk) Sympathetic Crone (oak note)

    The Snow at Dusk

Oooh! Sexy oriental snow! Thanks, Beth! Pretty accurate. The ozone-y snow creates physical and psychic space from the basal, earthy notes. This is swirling purple however it doesn't quite capture the ultraviolet blue note I associate with dusk... more of a earthy brown-tinged plum purple. Lovely in its own right, however.

    The Snow at Midnight

Wow. Having experienced blizzards living alone in a rural cottage in Maine, I can clearly attest The Snow at Midnight is an accurate impression. The eerie feeling of an absolutely violent amount of snow falling, yet complete silence inside.... You have your very loud emotions surrounding the real life-threatening environmental occurrence yet nature isn't matching up. This is a crisp, hushed, vaporous scent that smells like a tinge of fear in snowy silent darkness. Excellent job, Beth.

    The Snow at Dawn

Lets call this "french countryside snow". Its pretty, perfumed, fancy, gracefully moving snow. If you look closely at the fallen snowflakes there's an impression of a Dior Haute Couture original on each. Wet, I got a stronger snow note and the citruses really did capture the feeling of bolting out of bed to a blazing snowstorm (Great job, Beth. - from a crusty New Englander). Drydown, the citrusies and rose gardenia take over. Hence the fancy french feeling. I really do love this scent and may seek a bottle. Will be a unique addition to my bottleclan!

    Stekkjarstaur

Oh boy oh boy.. this is a gold mine of a scent on me. The marshmallow turns a little floral and the sugar is soft white/pink. Think its the wooly note making this go so awesome on me. Must be a white floral or something? This is my holy grail light/everythingsgonnabeok perfume to replace LUSH's Twilight. Similar to Boo but no heavy cream or butter notes. That's true. Love it.

    Laura Belle McDaniel

You know, I got a bottle of this a while ago and neglected to review it? A shame! A travesty! Anyways.. Does anyone remember Lush's Skinny Dip? Yup, this smells similar on me. Vetivert is kinda strong when wet, less apparent in the summertime. Carnation and lavender are an even 2nd. Tobacco and smoky vanilla combine on the drydown, warming it and providing a more appealing, less pungent base. Its goooooooddddd. Sexy without being trampy, not too powdery, just different enough from Gun Moll to prevent me from selling it off.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Hey there- I would suggest the following for a darker and/or more complex vanilla: Celeste Burning Vulva Avenger Defututa Golden Priapus Liz Tombeur Now Winter Nights Enlarge Yes, I think you would like both Hope & Fear Set Free and Madagascan Vanilla Rum. If you would like something similar to Snake Charmer + chocolate try Tarantula Fascinator.

    The Parliament of Monsters (2006)

What? I never reviewed Parliament?? Ok anyways, this is a favorite of mine. The sweetest incense and tobacco with smell of a dusty old hardcover book. The opium smoke gives it a lovely oriental mysterious darkness. Looking forward to the redux, since the CD opened back up.

    Shadows and Reflections

Oriental fans, snatch this up. Its a wonderful, medium throw, soporific, misty, dark perfume. Nothing goes mealy, baby powdery, or excessively spicy. Its just sweet resinous myrrh, prominently dark/non-stemmy poppy, and musky sandalwood. .....WIN.

    Fairy Tales and Lies

I'd have to agree with zankoku_zen. The cascade and throw is similar to Belle Epoque, Good association. The lilac is actually very prominent on me,sticking around way longer than I assumed it would. The rose is playing middle fiddle. The amber chypre is warm and resinous without any super sharp notes. The bergamont is a perfect supporter, adding brightness and a nice acidic note to prevent this from going mealy or flat. Overall, a beautiful warm clean perfume.

    Apocalyptic Scents?

Uhh hmm. Well here's what I can think of: Nuclear Winter: Annihilation. The ice, desolation and barrenness of nuclear devastation shot through by a beam of radioactive mints. Wings of Azrael: Azrael is the Angel of Death, marked as the last being to die in the Apocalypse. Though a harbinger of doom, his duties are an act of mercy: he curtails human life before world-weariness and despair destroys our spirits. Warm myrrh swirled with a bittersweet blend of violet, Lily of the Valley, juniper, cypess and cajeput. Ragnarok series: The Battle of Vigridr:The blood of the gods cascading onto earth and into sea: salt and sinew, venom and flame, and bone shards scattered across the gore-soaked soil of Óskópnir. The Fimbul Winter: The scent of utter desolation: three long white winters ushering in the end of the world. Endless rolling landscapes of snow and ice, bereft of bud, flower, or seed. The Final Darkness: The sun turns black, earth sinks in the sea: black amber and shimmering moonflower blackened by opoponax, khus attar, smoked oudh, and myrrh and all swallowed by the fathomless depths of a lightless ocean.

    Lullaby

This is the closest to a moonflower single note I've smelled out of the whole bpal collection. The iris root isn't too pronounced so don't worry about that. Lavender is sweet, gardenia a nice support. The moss is a great addition, providing a small green earthy base note. This will be an underrated floral, lost in the deluge of LEs around this time of year. Floral/moonflower lovers, beware, you will want this one later. Get it now!

    The Waltz

Ya know, this reminds me a lot of Sibyl. Well and Elegy No. 1 S. 196. Kinda like if these 2 had a baby... Overall, its sweet, creamy, musky with a hint of citrus sharpness. I like it.

    Apple III

I normally pass on anything apple because my skin eats it alive and I'm left with nothing. This actually has some staying power. Seems the only apple that works for me is black appalachian. This blend is sweet, creamy, floral, well rounded, earthy, not too much patchouli. Win!

    The Witches’ Rout (the Carcass)

Vetivert fans will love this one. I see it as more of a gender-neutral to masculine scent, as the plum is very very dry. Smoky, dark, woody. Reminds me of the cadence of Third Charm, which was popular after the fact. Not identical in the sense of its smell, just overall feel. The vetivert mellows in drydown and it sweetens and gets more musky.

best bpals to wear when it rains

In the fall, I love Bat-Woman on a rainy day. It sets this lovely mournful/romantic floral backdrop to the swirling wind, fresh earth, and still warm rain. Otherwise for cold cold rainy days I go with something comforting, warm, cozy, with a bit of brightness: Dragon's Milk, Burning Vulva, Cockaigne, Sibyl, Peach V.

    Pan Twardowski and the Devil

This is hottt... french tobacco with leather and a bit of deep gentleman's fougere. What I imagine a young, rich, victorian-era banker would smell of. Frikkin sweet.

    La Femme de Satan

Heeeyyyy. red musk I can actually wear! No really. This is well blended. Reminds me a bit of Thirteen 8/13/2010 with the red notes. Its dry cacao, musk, dark fruity currant, amber, vanilla. Well balanced, enticing, warm.
