    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Thank you! I did a search for Detestable Putrescence and found a bottle for sale. I'm just waiting for the owner to contact me back. Hopefully, I'll have a bottle soon. Awesome! I do hope you like it I'm on the hunt for the perfect vanilla myself so I can definitely empathise. Let us know if you have any luck!

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

You might have some luck with Detestable Putrescence. It's quite rich and smells a bit like vanilla extract which, to my nose, translates as buttery. Definitely try and look for some more scents with the Lab's bourbon vanilla note too, especially if you enjoy it. It's one of the creamier vanilla types (and is actually completely unrelated to bourbon whiskey!) and I think it holds quite a buttery undertone. There's Boo as well- as a previous user said, it might be more butterscotch than butter-butter but it's relatively easy to find and probably worth a shot sniff.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Could anyone help me find a (specifically GC) BPAL similar to Posset's The Scent of Angels? I know that comparisons have been drawn between Antique Lace/Snow White, but am looking for something a little less coveted & more permanent that I can include in an imp pack. Any help would be very much appreciated! ETA (not very telling) scent description: The lingering odor of sanctity, The Scent of Angels is truly a magnificent and heartbreakingly beautiful perfume. This is what you would imagine you could smell after angels had disappeared. Is it vanilla, is it floral, is it musk? Is it all of those things or is the combination more than the sum of its parts? In any case you will say it is stunning and leave it at that. Imagine one small down feather floating downward after an angel has flitted through your life. Characteristics are mainly vanilla, musk, floral.

    Vicomte de Valmont

This is so fucking sexy. ETA: I wouldn't wear this on myself. On a man, however...

    Celeste

In the bottle Celeste smells very heavy and cloying. It reminds me some kind of Emirati perfume (random??) although I'm guessing it's the saffron that's lending it the Arabic/incense-y feel. My flatmate and I both had to scrub it off as it was stinking up the room. It mellows into quite a pleasant vanilla but the dry-down is faint and I don't know if it's worth the initial stage. Will keep and see.

    Anything laundryish?

Ohh that description! I'd actually been meaning to get an imp of Zephyr for a little while but never got around to it. I need to order myself some though! Especially now you've told me that it transports you to sunny attic bedrooms with warm fluffy blankets...

Recommend a scent for a specific dress or outfit

Eesshh that's one sexy dress. Vixen springs to mind, for obvious reasons. I have never tried it personally but Bordello also seems like it would be a good choice- nothing to do with brothels! The scent description just makes me think of the colour purple + sex. Smoky, sweet scents would be quite befitting as well I think- Perversion & Liz are both gorgeous and sexy. And, of course, Black Lace. I think that would work wonderfully. (As a last resort re: hot date, just wear it out anyway- guaranteed you'll clinch one!).

    Anything laundryish?

Thank you for all the suggestions! Will be getting some imps all of the scents listed, TP'D Tree aside- must try and hunt some of that down. I have tried both Boo'09 and Black Lace (new/apple version) but get no cotton from either of them. I don't think I even get any vanilla from BL. Clearly my skin enjoys eating up the foody fabrics.

    Liz

It's what it says on the tin- smoke, leather, vanilla, floral. Basically it's sex.

    Anything laundryish?

I've put off Wensleydale due to all the soapy comparisons (haha fresh laundry > bar of soap) but it's on my list! I've tacked on 51 too. White Rabbit could have been lovely but the milk quite literally soured it for me.

    Anything laundryish?

I love laundry scents! Could we get some more recs in? Unlike the OP I'm looking for something that smells like fresh laundry (as opposed to something to scent laundry with, if that makes sense). I've tried some of the scents listed here but they were either too aquatic (Sea of Glass) or too floral (Dirty). An example of what l would consider a wonderful laundry scent would be Antique Lace- it may straddle the foodie, but it just makes me feel clean. It's that linen/cotton note. Is there anything quite like it amongst all the other scents out there?

    Smoky, Sweet Scents?

    Second the rec for Perversion.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

The Girl (white amber, silver birch, immortelle, davana, pale musk, star jasmine, and ylang ylang) and Lyonesse (golden vanilla and gilded musk, stargazer lily, white sandalwood, grey amber, elemi, orris root, ambergris and sea moss) smell very similar on me.

    Searching for the Perfect Vanilla?

Hey I think I've just found myself a scent buddy in you. Everything you've said has hit the hammer on the head re: my own experiences with those oils- vanilla is probably my favourite ever note but I can never seem to identify it in the 'popular vanilla' scents. I should probably have given Tombstone a miss altogether as I dislike cedar/sassafras in any combination but it was still an absolute joke on me- I smelt of ganj. Lyonesse, whilst I love it, is very aquatic and almost cologney to my nose. I mostly get incense/spice from Snake Oil and Boo reads as treacle to me. It's not too dissimilar to Detestable Putrescence, which is undeniably vanilla but also of the very foody/extract oil kind (which I'm not a huge fan of). I thought Dorian smelt like a bar of lemon soap, and whilst I like Morocco I hardly get any vanilla from it either once its aged. I do, however, advocate Antique Lace and must concur with those who recommend it as a scent, vanilla or otherwise! I also seem to recall enjoying my imp of Black Opal and noting a similarity. I've plundered reviews for both and it seems that quite a few people have drawn a parallel between the two which is encouraging given AL's discontinuation. Ho hum. I see something on the horizon and it looks vaguely like a 5ml bottle order.

    Lyonesse

I don't understand why I'm so taken by this oil as I was hoping for something very vanilla-centric and instead got something much more aquatic and faintly reminiscent of cologne. But I can't stop huffing my wrist once it's on. I can't really describe it (slightly counterproductive given the context here) but it's salty and yummy and terribly, terribly evocative. One of the most intriguing scents I've come across. I keep reaching for it, and have splurged on a bottle for when I finish off my imp.
