Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I had my first BPAL allergic reaction today. It was to a scent in the Bewitching Brews: The Conjure Bag section called "Red Devil." Does anyone know what's in it? There aren't any specific notes listed for it. Thanks!

    Frumious Bandersnatch

I love it! This is such a playful, fun scent. I get an immediate hit of spice, but the spice is neither too strong or overshadowing of the other notes. I get a fruity note that is made mild and not too sweet by the chrysanthemum. Lovely and another bottle to add to my Mad Tea Party Collection.

    Sophia

BEAUTIFUL! On me I get a very balanced blend of all the florals with a musk undertone and a hint of spice. I will be ordering a bottle of this!

    Sybaris

I love this. The violet is indeed very bright and happy but not overpowering. There is a definite sweetness that comes from the vanilla bean with just a touch of spice. It's very lovely and I will be getting a bottle of this.

    Destroying Angel

I am not digging this at all. The dirt notes in this are very very very strong and I'm not enjoying it. It also has a certain sour/bitterness that is off-putting and gives me a headache. Not for me!

    Black Dahlia

Oooohhh... This... is... BEAUTIFUL. I am so bad at picking out individual floral scents but this is a wonderful deep, dark, sexy, floral. It has a lovely retro/old hollywood feel, as it should. I definitely want a bottle of this!

    Ephemera

The scent is very invocative of the name: a sorrowful, fleeting scent of flowers. I primarily get the violets, lilies, and rose. I do sense the autumn leaves; they give the scent a stronger, darker undertone. There's a certain sweetness which I think is the chamomile. Overall it's a nice floral, which I normally love but for some odd reason I'm not digging this one. It's kind of giving me a headache.

    Nosferatu

I don't smell the wine so much in this one. It's all dirt and herbs. That being said, it smells *very* much like the description. There's a dark air of death and crypts: walking though a mossy, overgrown graveyard on a misty, dark, and eerie night. Unfortunately I don't think this is for me. It's well done but it didn't play very well on my skin (I just don't like dirt notes), so it'll probably end up getting swapped. But I am very glad I got the chance to try it.

    All Night Long

Cinnamon. However the first review is correct: there is something darker under it. It almost smells... woodsy/herbaly/resin? When I sniff it I get this image of running out and doing it in the woods. I do plan on testing this on my boyfriend though.

    Loviatar

Hmm... this is a sexy scent but for some reason I am not getting the leather that everyone else is getting. I think I am mostly getting the amber and spiciness. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It is sexy but it's so strong I'm starting to get a headache.

    Baneberry

In the bottle baneberry mostly smells of well... berry. On me though the hearbal-ness really comes out strong and I hardly get any berry. It definitely has a "greeness" too it as well. I like this because I don't like overly sweet berry scents (which is like 95% of them out there). Unfortunately I'm not a big herbal person but this is still a very nice scent. Just maybe not for me.

    Midnight on the Midway (2006)

In the bottle and wet on me I got very strong florals. Dry on me I am still getting strong florals but with a sharpness that is the lightning. I can smell the incense but only slightly. I get no sugar from this at all. Overall I like it. Florals and ozone are two notes that I am particularly fond of. I also like incense so I think that this one is a keeper.

    Xanthe, The Weeping Clown

In the bottle this smells exactly like... bubble gum? Wet on me... more bubble gum... Once it has dried I can smell more of the guava. Still kind of bubblegum but the individual fruity notes are starting to come out and the orange peel and white pepper give it a not so sweet quality. Still mostly smell like bubble gum though... not for me.

    Kataniya, the Clockwork Woman

LOVE!!! This scent is just what it describes: hot metal with florals and a "lightning" note. Beth is genius. You'd think "hot metal would mean a gross metallic scent but it really it s very nice. I don't know how to describe it... It's a soft floral with with a sharpness to it. It works beautifully on me. I hope everyone who reads this is able to get a decant at the very least.

    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

This one is interesting. At first in the bottle I thought it smelled like a slightly peppery caramel. Sweet cream doesn't bode well for me so I wasn't sure about this one. Wet on me I am smelling nothing but florals. Once the scent dried and warm the sweet cream came back but not in a bad way. Just enough to give it a touch of sweet. The florals that are predominant are the carnation and orange blossom. This is very nice but I think it might be a little too sweet for me.

    L'Heure Verte

In the bottle this was very very heavy on the booze. It just smelled like alcohol to me and I didn't think I'd like it. Very strong. On me wet I still smell the absinthe but the lilac and rose water are coming through. It's also smelling just a little sweeter. I am very surprised. I didn't expect to like this one at all. The booziness faded down to give it just a little bit of "fun" but it's mostly a nice smokey floral with a little bit of sweet.

    The Grindhouse

In the bottle this is a very strong and sharp floral, something I'd definitely see as "Madame-ish". Once on the skin it softens and becomes a much more balanced scent. On me it's a sweet, musky floral. The most predominant notes are the vanilla, musk, and rose. This is exactly my type of scent: floral, a little sweet, but with some sexiness and authority. Love.

    Arachnina, The Spider Girl (2006)

This is another one I didn't think I'd like but I do. In the bottle it was off-putting to me because it's very strong; smelling mostly of musk and patchouli. Right away on my skin it mellowed out a little. I could now smell the florals, especially the lily. After a while I began to smell the current just a little bit with the patchouli and musk fading some. Overall this is a musky heady floral on me. It's a very nice scent that I will keep but not one of my loves.

    Marcilla

Very nice! I wasn't sure about this one because it was such a strong scent in the bottle but it has turned into a very lovely sweet yet sexy floral on me. I am primarily getting the bergamont and lilac but overall it is very balanced.

    Parthenope

Smelled alot like Thalassa on first sniff, but sweeter. Now that it has dried it pretty much turned to just Jasmine on me. It's a very lovely jasmine that's not too strong or sharp; it has just a little tensy bit of swetsness (maybe from the honeysuckle). I like jasmine but I was hoping for more than just that from it.

    Dionysia

Another surprise like! I was afraid the patchouli and mahogany were going to ruin this one (as those notes don't like me) but they play surprisingly well in this one. In the bottle you can definitely smell the patchouli but on me, once it has dried, the fruit notes really take a presence and the patchouli, mahogany, and frankincense take a back seat but at the same time keep this blend from being too sweet.
  22. NoinHime

    Cytherea

Mmm... not my favorite. It's not a bad scent but the patchouli in this one is a little much. I get a little bit of sandalwood and vanilla once it has dried but the patchouli, amber and other notes just are giving me this sharp, spicy, and almost masculine scent that I'm just not enjoying.

    Marianne

Red musk, bergamot, black currant, mimosa, orchid, patchouli, and lotus root. Surprise love! Normally I hate patchouli but once this one dried it left me with a sweet, musky, floral scent that I absolutely love. I am heartbroken it's sold out.

    Clémence

Normally I love Carnation but the patchouli and spicy notes in this one are just enough to keep it from being a winner in my book. In the bottle almost all I could smell was the patchouli and spice. When it was wet on me for some odd reason it smelled like cinnamon and leather. As it has dried the patchouli has mostly vanished leaving the spices, pepper and carnation. I'm surprised that I actually like it given how much I hate patchouli but it's not one of my favorites.

    Marguerite

This was one of the most off-putting scents in the bottle but when I put it on my skin it is BEAUTIFUL! I get mostly the rose geranium but it loves my skin. It's a very sharp floral scent but o-so elegant.
