The search for "Clean" scents - general discussion
Scylla replied to Vicious Mistress's topic in Recommendations
I agree about Lightning and Embalming Fluid. Both excellent "clean" smelling choices. Juliet also smelled "clean" on me, but in a laundry detergent kind of way. -
Pele smells "beachy" to me, in a suntan lotion and light creamy floral kinda way.
-
This one sure is lemony in a lemon Pledge sort of way. However, on drydown it started smelling more like a citronella candle. I like the smell of citronella candles, but I don't want to personally smell like one! I didn't get any mosquito bites yesterday while wearing it, so maybe that's a good thing!

The Lowdown on Incense & Resin - The Best Recommendations

Maenad totally smells like strawberry incense -
I love it! It is a lush, creamy tropical floral with "beachy" notes. A perfect summer fragrance. This will be going with me on vacation (to Mexico) in two weeks. I can't wait for this to become available for sale. Please don't change a thing!

My 5 ml of Vice was leaky also. The label had gotten completely soaked and slipped right off the bottle. The 10 ml of Zephyr leaked a little bit, but only enough to make the top of the bottle and part of the label oily. The bubble wrap on both were oily (and divinely scented, I might add!)

Wet, it conjures fond memories from my childhood. It's a very familiar smell, and I associate that smell with my grandmother. I want to say she had a scented candle or a perfume that smelled similar to Scarecrow while wet. Or maybe it was some kind of cleaner she used (see jj_j's previous post.) Dry, it smells very intriguing and, well, masculine. I can't pick out any specific notes, but I can't stop sniffing my wrist. As soon as DH got home from work I put some on him. Fabulous! This will definitely be in my next order AND should be added to the list of scents for men.

Oh, Goody! I ordered on 4/18, so that must mean my order can't be far off! I must look so pathetic going to the post office every day--only to find junk mail and bills!

Out of the vial: Very flowery, but clean smelling Wet: Still very flowery, but now I can smell the white musk. I don't detect the pear or stargazer lily at all. Pity! Dry: A very clean, crisp scent, but I have to agree with Becky---it kinda smells like laundry detergent! I'll have to give it another try before I make a final decision on whether to swap it.

I am sort of a newbie myself, but I can highly recommend Zephyr. It is a light, clean smelling floral with white musk with citrus accents. It is my favorite (so far). -
Got this in a swap today--Thanks, Nenia! In the vial: A sweet, buttery, toffee and vanilla aroma. Very foody and delicious smelling! On me: Smells a bit like the Hazelnut Coffee Yankee candle. Very interesting--warm, sweet and cozy. Very much an autumn scent on me. Makes me want to lie on the couch and light a fire in the fireplace. I will definitely order a larger size of this in the autumn.

I like it in the vial, but once it mixes with my bizarre body chemistry it starts to smell, well---MANLY! In fact, with my body chemistry after drydown it smells EXACTLY like Paco Rabanne.

Got this in a swap today and tried it immediately, of course! In the vial--smelled like strawberries, neroli and incense. Wet--smelled like strawberry incense and banana peels. On drydown--smelled like strawberry incense After wearing an hour or so, it still smells like strawberry incense. The smell lasts a LONG time on me. I can put it on in the morning and STILL smell it on my wrists or behind my ears before I go to bed. Edited to say: Tried this again today, and liked it much better this time. It still smells like strawberry incense, but the black poppy, neroli and hibiscus have decided to pop out. Very nice!

Got this in a swap today, and I love it! In the bottle, it is chocoriffic! Even more chocolatey than Bliss, I'd have to say. Wet, it's like chocolate covered cherries. I couldn't stop sniffing myself! On drydown it became more of a vanilla/white chocolate cherry scent on me. Very nice!

Light, gentle, subtle scents for the office, class, expectant moms
Scylla replied to Cegirls's topic in Recommendations
I agree with Shollin. If you like The Body Shop's White Musk, you would probably LOVE Zephyr. It is a light, clean smelling floral with white musk undertones and hints of lemon. It is a very pretty scent and is perfect for spring and summer, in my opinion. I just ordered a 10 ml bottle myself. -
The Best BPAL scents for young girls through teenagers
Scylla replied to Dulci's topic in Recommendations
Zephyr is my favorite. It is light and fresh floral with a hint of citrus and musk. I think it would be very appropriate for a teen. -
No worries, Beth. Your oils are well worth the wait. I kinda like the anticipation... Too bad my brother moved from North Hollywood recently. I would have insisted that he march over there and help you out!

Name: Laurin Photo, if you don't mind: Don't have a proper current one Sin of choice [Not the scent, the proper sin]: Pride and gluttony Virtue you embody: Integrity and loyalty Astrological Info: Gemini How you found out about BPAL: Makeup Alley reviews Any comments you'd like to add about the Lab or life in general: I love everything about "The Lab"--from the concept itself to the oils and the forums.

Carolsag, I would wait a few days before assuming it's lost or stolen. I placed my order on 3/15, a few days before you, and just got my order on Friday. I was a sad case, running to the post office every day, checking my poor, empty P.O. Box to no avail! I'll bet your order will arrive today or tomorrow.

I wore Zephyr for my first job interview in 2 years yesterday and I think it was the perfect choice. Clean, fresh and composed, but not really gender neutral. Good luck, Grrrlennyl!
-
This one was VERY flowery and a little too overpowering for me. On drydown it smelled like "old lady perfume" on me, so I will be swapping this along with some others in a few days.
-
I SOOOO wanted to love Snake Oil! However, it just does not jibe with my body chemistry, apparently. I was afraid this would happen. On me it smells like a one of those designer imposter versions of Calvin Klein's Obsession. BUT...I put a dab of it on a "dead" car air freshener and Gee, my car smells terrific!

This is a very refreshing, interesting scent--seems perfect for summer, and appropriate for daytime/work wear. On me, the lotus and lime are the predominant notes with jasmine next and tuberose WAY in the background. A very interesting, long lasting scent. It lasts all day on me without needing to reapply. While I'm keeping my imp, I probably won't order a big bottle.

In the bottle, the smell is very sharp. Wet, a few minutes after application, violet and lavender are duking it out on my left wrist, and the lavender seems to be winning. That's about all I can smell so far. Weird, but after some drydown time it smells just like Dial soap to me! (And I don't use Dial soap) I must have a really peculiar chemistry! 4/20: On second try, I liked this much better. It didn't dry down to eau de Dial soap today. It is a very calming scent, but that is probably because of the lavender. And that's probably what reminded others of babies--many baby bath products and lotions have lavender in them. I almost swapped it away, but decided to give it another whirl. I probably won't order a bottle, but I think I'm keeping my imp!
