This particular one truly has a vintage, nocturnal English garden scent to it. I highly recommend skin testing this one even if you don't like it in the bottle. I was ready to give up on it when I smelled all the sharp florals in the bottle, but when testing it for a good description for selling it, I realized I couldn't stop smelling myself. I'd say the tobacco is very very minimal; I don't really smell it at all. On the skin, the florals settle and you get a bit more of the bourbon vanilla which add a creamy backdrop to the dewy flowers. Very hard to describe!!! I keep coming back to VINTAGE to describe this. I want to say it has something in common with Leanan Sidhe, which is one of the few other floral scents that I like, but I could be wrong...

    Cold Moon

UGH, wintergreen?! Background on me: I love peppermint, I can handle spearmint, but wintergreen is an immediate dealbreaker for me. I dislike it so much that it makes me nauseous. This lasted about 5 minutes on my wrists before I scrubbed it off vigorously. Maybe it has layers and complexity, but there's no way I smell past the wintergreen to them. The Lunacies have not been good to me lately. First sickly sweet Beaver Moon, now this. EDIT: Oddly, I've found that this is actually *not bad* on the menfolk. I know two guys who have tried it and like it very much. I must admit it smells very different on them and the mint softens considerably to let it settle into a very clean, masculine floral.

    L'Examen de Minuit

The only questionable note in here for me is lilac. I haven't been thrilled with it in the past. I think it, along with the rose, is what is giving this a hint of that "antique" potpourri smell, especially when wet. But the resins and black plum dirty it up plenty. I don't smell the plum as fruity at all - but that's what I like about plum, it seems to sweeten things up without being traditionally fruity. My honest overall impression is of a dusty, haunted attic. The myrrh note is lovely on dry down. Just don't know about those florals. But thankfully the resins dominate more the longer I wear it.

When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I recently tried Masabakes (I think it was a freebie from an ebay order). And I'm in LOVE only to find that it's been very recently discontinued. Any suggestions on similar available scents??

This was a frimp - I was intrigued by the name, but probably wouldn't have bought it myself because I wasn't struck by any particular note. I agree with those who say this is a white, juicy scent... The notes are airy and playful in a sense, but you couldn't say they are light because it is a STRONG fruity floral with a STRONG throw. So in that way, it goes along with the theme - deceptively innocent, but packs a [fruit] punch. Orchid and especially the bright plum notes are really strong at first, with the jasmine mischievously sharpening the edges - then it settles down and the musk comes out a bit more. Too sharply fruity when wet, and too soapy when dry. It's not bad, but it's not me. To my nose this is soap or lotion (B&BW or Victoria's Secret), nothing much intriguing or mysterious about it.

My first review! In the bottle: Very subtle, had to really get my nose in there to smell anything, and even then I couldn't identify it - a sharply herbal, almost rancid smell - not that impressive from the first bottle sniff and NOTHING like it smells on the skin. Wet: Warm resins, something pine-like but not necessarily pine, pleasant sandalwood (ahh, that's why it was hard to smell in the bottle), maybe a citrus note but not sure? Wow, very lovely and complex. I can see why Neil said it smells like the desert. (I live in the desert - in Phoenix no less!) It is dry, warming, sunny. Even when I first apply it, it makes my skin feel warm, much like Masabakes does. Myrrh could be one of the resins, but if so it's subtle. Drydown: Sandalwood is really the most prominent, but I'm getting whiffs of orange blossom occasionally, which is nice! Kind of like the orange blossom that I wish would stick around in Masquerade but never ever does. There are other undertones under all that sandalwood that make it stand out, but I can't put my finger on them. I don't get any cinnamon or food-like impressions. I think this is a very outdoorsy scent. I think it would be very sexy on a guy because of the sandalwood notes, but just as nice on a woman. Overall, very happy with this one and glad I have a bottle!

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Hey everyone... I'm new to the forum, and recently placed my 2nd BPAL order. I hate to have my first post be a complaint, but I gotta vent. I placed an order on Jan 26th using CCNOW. A couple weeks later, several fraudulent charges started showing up on my account. Luckily they were all flagged and denied, but I had to be issued a new card. Being that my order had not been charged yet, I sent an inquiry to CCNOW asking if there was any way to change the credit card information WITHOUT cancelling and resubmitting the order. (Not wanting it to take even longer to receive my order.) Fast forward a few days later, haven't heard back from CCNOW, so I give up and go ahead and cancel and resubmit the order with new credit card information. Today, CCNOW responds saying they cancelled my order "as requested". Only they cancelled my new, completely different order number!!! I went ahead and did the whole resubmitting ALL over again. Though if I'd been thinking straight, I should have just used Paypal to place a new order instead - that's definitely what I will be doing in the future!!! Argh.
