    The Black Tower

My first impression is that it's a very serious scent with a hint of sweetness early on, but with the promise of something deeper. Perhaps a hint of leather in there? It's a very distinguished, adulst scent. Definitely masculine, I'd say, something to go with a fine suit. It's the sort of scent that I associate with (but doesn't _smell like_ ) leather, whiskey and tobacco; i.e. a scent to wear to a gentleman's club.

    The Apothecary

It's light and soft and herbal and slightly reminds me of the contemplativeness and cleanness of Meditation in Autumn. It's fresh, almost citrusy, which might be due to the ginger. Later on it becomes a drier scent of dry leaves and moss. I truly adore this scent. It just completely fits me, as if it were made for me. Really a good one for a signature scent. There's only one slight which is that after not long a time I can't smell it anymore. Whether it's faded entirely or just beyond my conscious notice I don't know, but I really want to smell this for far longer. I shall try a more generous application next time.

    Mole

Mole is very sweet early on, in an odd way. Perhaps because it's quite unfamiliar, I haven't spent much time sniffing mosses you see. To put it differently: sweet but not quite 'fitting' on me. Sometimes I get a waft of metallic undertones. It's a very soft, mild and calm scent. It lasts a very long time too, and after a long while all that remains is mild sandalwood, lovely. I can't say I noticed much patchouli, but it may have been in there lending it's character to the moss and sandalwood in their stages. I'm just a bit disappointed, the notes all seemed right in the description, but I had no idea what to expect from mosses. Now I know it's not an immediate fit or liking. Perhaps I'll grow to like it, otherwise I'll keep it around for its last stage, mild sandalwood with soft edges.

    Wrath

Wrath comes to a weird start on me. It smells ..'off', or stale or, well it's hard to define and I can't place it. I'm not sure where it's coming from, it might be the clove and pepper not appreciating my skin. But thankfully after about half an hour or an hour the stale weirdness goes away and I'm left with an alluring sweetness of dragon's blood caressed by cinnamon. As to the dragon's blood in it...I'm never sure how to describe it, not candylike, but a sweet cherry or raspberry-reminiscent thing maybe. Dunno really.

    Sin

Sin, for me, starts off quite looming with strong cinnamon and heavy patchouli. It sort of gives the impression that it will remain a quite powerful scent. But then, after a while they all grow a bit a milder and the sandalwood lets itself be known and it settles into a nicely harmonic combination of sandalwood and patchouli with just a dash of cinnamon to give it that extra dash of spice and mystery. A friend said it smelled like a shop full of wonderful incenses. I'm quite happy with this one, it fits a guy very well, it sets out to be very masculine and when it becomes milder it's a very good allround unisex scent.

    The Dormouse

The Dormouse starts off very fresh and citrusy. Like green tea with lemon indeed, but with a hint of peony. After a while the peony comes more to the fore, first strongly, but then it becomes milder. It's quite a lovely scent, but I cannot for the life of me make up my mind. Due to the dominance of (mellow) peony on drydown I just associate it with femininity, which makes me think 'well that's not for me then' but then it is a nice scent on its own and I have had a compliment about it. Hmm. Still, it just doesn't seem a guy scent to me.

    White Rabbit

White Rabbit is very bright and sweet on me at first, with clear honey overruling the rest. Seems a bit too sweet at first. Then when it dries the honey deepens and darkens and strengthens in a strange way. There are other notes accompanying the honey, but for me the honey dominates and darkens with the hour. It's not really my thing, but I think this one especially lends itself to be very dependent on everybody's personal taste (yes, I know this is BPAL, but still).

    Yggdrasil

Tried this on for the second time now. First time I liked it but wasn't sure yet. Now I'm really starting to appreciate it. As more have said it's a complex one, hard to pinpoint the notes. It's warm and woodsy, sandalwood for one and other fragrant woods that complement it in a wonderful harmony. A light hint of sweetness? I'd say this is a very nice one for the guys who want to wear something warm, neutral to male and especially mysterious and hard to define. For some reason hints of Tristran and Satyr come to mind. It seems to share things with Tristran.

    Santa Muerte

It reminds me of old fashioned floral soap (might be the rose with something behind it), a bit like Baghdad only less something I'd prefer personally. I gave it to my mother

    Baghdad

It's soft, sandalwood with subtle flowers at first. Then after a while it changes a bit to something clean and a bit soapy. A bit like you're cleanly scrubbed with old (as in old-fashioned) floral soap, in a good way. I quite like this one as a gender neutral scent (at least it seems that way to me and as a guy I'd have no problem wearing this).

    Villain

Villain to me is flowery, a bit fruity, very fresh at first. I'd say clearly unisex 'cause I don't want to rule out the girls here but I can definitely see lots of guys wearing this. It mostly stays the same over drydown, gets a bit softer but still nicely fresh or crisp if you want. I quite like it and see this working especially well on guys in spring and summer.

    Meditation in Autumn

In the bottle it smells like something from an apothecary. When put on it's a strange and subtle scent. Somewhat leafy or herbal, it's very hard to place. Terms like 'clean, fresh, dry, crisp' come to mind. I sort of get images of airy rooms with fragrant woods.

    Tristran

Tristran is a very mysterious and wonderful scent (it causes wonder, certainly). It's just unlike anything else I or the people I've asked ("sniff my neck" ) have smelled. There was something oddly familiar about it. Now I think it's the patchouli which reminded me of certain incenses. Yes, it's warm, intriguing and a bit incensey with a hint of fragrant wood (whether it's the sandal- or rosewood or both). Every now and again a waft of this mysterious scent will hit my nose and make me wonder about this unique creation. My colleagues and others seem to adore this as well, it makes me happy and I can see how it fits Tristran, the adventurer across the Wall in an adventure and setting as intriguing and warming as this scent. It seems to fit the season as well, a good scent for autumn and winter, me thinks.

    Fenris Wolf

This is a very overpowering and masculine scent. Sadly just too strong on me (I'll stick to Satyr for my sandalwood-goodness). It's very deep, heavy, powerful. There's a wonderful note of sandalwood behind something stronger, the musk probably though I kept thinking 'somewhat smoky'. It does mellow down a bit, less overpowering, balancing out a bit but still too powerful to suit me. This would suit a big, strong, decidedly masculine man I'd say. Yeah, that would work perfectly.

    Satyr

Oh dear gods! I fell in love with this scent at first whiff, must order bottles of the stuff! It's wonderfully warm, strong (though thankfully not as strong as Fenris Wolf by far) and sensual and seductive. The perfect blend of sandalwood and other notes to make it the most gorgeous, sexy, masculine scent you'd ever want to smell on a guy and makes you want to crawl/nuzzle into his neck. This is a definite keeper. I'm afraid to wear this one to work though, I'd fear all the female co-workers might not leave me alone to get my work done Funny thing is. When I got Lush's Aromarant (sandelwood) deodorant I'd always wanted a fragrance that smelled like that. And now I've found something that takes everything I love about Aromarant and makes it even better.

    Aureus

Aureus reminds me of my father's wooden cigar box, or perhaps a wooden crate of lapsang souchong tea. At first the smoke or whatever it is I associate with smoke or cigar boxes is very dominant, overpowering. After a while it lessens and I get the feeling the rest of the scent would be very nice if only it didn't keep hiding behind the smoke/wood.

    Fallen

I also think is much more a woman's scent, not unisex. The people I've asked to sniff (hehe) also said they thought it more for women. It isn't a bad scent, not at all. It smells like beautiful flowers, in a regal way. It makes me think of distinguished ladies, not necessarily middle-aged or older but with a certain grace and refinement. At first though there's something 'a bit off' beneath it, but that goes away after the first half hour or hour and after that it's a lovely warm and refined floral scent, but definitely for women I'd say.

    Dorian

Well I ordered this as an imp, thought I might enjoy it since a friend of mine is in love with it. Now for me it's a lot of vanilla. I may just not have enough of a trained nose to distinguish notes, I'm a newcomer to BPAL too, but there's not much else than vanilla as far as I can tell. Maybe a hint of something warmer behind it that I can't really place. It reminds me of vanilla scented candles. I could see this working for a distinguished man in his forties, that would probably work, or more generally a woman. It's not for me, I think, though I'm determined to give it another few tries to do justice to my friend's enthusiasm.

    R'lyeh

Hmm, this scent is too...unexpected for me. I was pleasantly surprised to get a frimp of this and couldn't wait to try out the Lovecraftian evil. Then I find that the dark and mysterious evil that lies beneath the murky depths...smells like pink bubblegum. Seriously... I may just find a girly girl to give this to, but as a guy it's not something I'd like to wear.
