    Asphodel

Asphodel in the imp is PERFECT lily with fresh-cut stems--lightly sweet and green and gorgeous. I love it in the imp. So I was expecting to love it on me. I slathered, I admit. And promptly learned why it is not a good idea to slather when you have never tried a scent before. After a couple of minutes of lily heaven, the scent became richer and darker and fuller and... smelled exactly like my grandmother. Now, my grandma is a great lady and doesn't smell 'old', she just... smells just like this! Heady spring flowers. I'll take it as a learning experience and keep the imp for nostalgia's sake. (Now I have Grandma wherever I go!)

    Bliss

I spent a whole day at work blissed out on Bliss. It's sweet, rich chocolate; very warm and comforting. Bliss is like Centzon Totochtin's darling little sister in a way--sweet and warm and you just want to hug her and cuddle up, where Centzon Totochtin is more bitter and debauched--smells like drunken chocolate sex. If that makes sense to anyone but me. Oh yes, bottle of this one!

    Centzon Totochtin

I think I've found my favorite BPAL scent. Centzon Totochtin! In the imp and wet on my skin, it's very bitter chocolate and sweet booze with some smoky spice. Then it mellows into a smoooooooth, smoky sweetish incense-rum with a hint of bitter chocolate and blood tang. It's dark and rich and warm, and I can't resist just slathering myself in it. SO GOOD. I might have to buy a few bottles of this!

    Dorian

Dorian is one I thought I'd adore, since I love tea and I love vanilla... but I don't smell tea at all in this and it's wayyyy to light and sweet. On me this is all extremely sweet vanilla (too sweet for my tastes, I thought it'd be a darker and less syrupy), a hint of musk, and something that reminds me of that fake lavender-vanilla scented baby wash. That impression, thankfully, dies down after about an hour and then I'm left with just sugared vanilla and a tiny bit of musk. I was really hoping for something a little darker and, well... less tooth-achingly sweet. Black tea, where are you? Apparently, I'm amping the sugar and vanilla in this to eternity and beyond. Dorian is sadly not for me.

    The Knave of Hearts

I was all set to write a love letter, but oh man, now that I have my imp and have tried it, Knave of Hearts and I are not getting along at all. In the bottle: Oooh sweet and yummy, definitely get butteryness and pastryness. On me: Still sweet and slightly floral, but there's a really heavy musky spice scent to it too that's just killing it for me. I smell like a really strong Yankee candle. One of the potpourri-spice scented ones. Looks like it's a swap for you, Knave.

    Olokun

Olokun! In the imp: mmmm, fresh and wet-smelling, and a bit sweet. On me: Even BETTER. It still smells fresh and wet and aquatic, and the sweetness is definitely a soft floral. I agree that it might be lily. Then after a bit, it gets somewhat darker, making me think of sinking below the surface of the waves where the sun turns the water a more muted greenish blue. I LOVE this. I think I need a bottle...
