  1. In Imp: Sharp veggies

On Skin: Wow, this is something I thought I'd never like. But it is gorgeous!! It is very alive and green, springtime to the fullest! I even get some white florals that give it a very "perfumey" quality. I don't smell any of the individual vegetables at all, to me it's more floral than anything. This would be an amazing room scent as well since it's so fresh and clean, it has a bit of a right out of the laundry feel. it has a good throw and lasts quite a while. I wish I could have a bottle!

  2. In bottle: Floral bakery

On skin: When I smell this in the bottle and then also on my skin, the last thing I would say it smells like is peonies and cream. It does have a floral note, which eventually does smell of peonies, but it takes a while to morph to that. What I smell when I first put it on is menthol and nuts... and that is not a good thing. I want to wash it off actually. But I decided to be patient and I'm glad I did.

The creme note starts to seep through and sweetens the scent. The peonies start to come through giving a beautiful colorful floral that morphs the scent completely. The nutty note subsides and remains a little echo in the background. The menthol also subsides a bit, but doesn't go away completely... it gives a nice cool tone to the scent.

All in all it's a pretty scent. It's not exactly what I was looking forward to, I was hoping for a very creamy floral, almost along the lines of Chaste Moon which it was not. If you get this scent, make sure to be patient to wait for it to develop and become it's full bloomed glory. It has a medium throw and average wearlength.

  3. This is my favorite of this years series.

    In Bottle: Juicy honeydew

On Skin: The honeydew is the front runner for sure. It's in your face ripe yummy sticky fruit!!! BPAL's honey note is my favorite note ever and it sweetens this scent even more but gives it a delicious warm depth. The green musk gives it a softness that makes me watch to constantly sniff my wrist. After a few minutes the scent becomes very dry and powdery... not ripe or juicy anymore at all. It still is divine but I wish it didn't become so dry smelling. When scents do that they make my whole body feel dry and parched for some reason...

Over all I love it and the sweet green fabulousness that is is. I may try and make a body spray with it too. It's such a pick me up!

It has a long staying power and is very strong. People will be coming up to you and asking to lick your wrists. :)

  4. In Bottle: Dark, sweet incense

On Skin: At first I am scared... beside the obvious strong incense note from the Frankincense, I get a very dark animalistic feel from the bois de cade and Laotian oud, that is almost overwhelming. But the myrrh tames the beast and grounds it for me. Then the sweet beeswax wins me over as it balances the darkness and bathes me in a warm blanket. Overall this is a decadent, deep and gorgeous resinous scent... not something I would normally wear, but wow, it smells AMAZING on me. My husband has been exclaiming how much he loves it every time I move or walk near him and he gets a whiff of it. I would agree it is in the family of Schwarzer Mond and Midnight Mass (which also actually work on me). It has a very strong throw and wears for quite a long time. Thinking I may need a second bottle. Love it!! :)

  5. LOVE the label art!!!!!

This is super lavender out of the bottle. Sadly that's a note that really hates me. It is very sharp and a but metallic.

After about 5 minutes the violet musk sweetens it up some and the scent starts to warm up to me. The musks give it a lovely soft feel, while the other notes darken it and give it a earthy fruity twist.

I'm liking it more and more and am happy that the purple feel it portrays amps on me since purple is my favorite color.

It has a medium throw and short to average wearlength.

  6. I don't have time to do a full review, but I had to chime in that I LOVE this scent! I wish I had ordered multiples! And wow does my husband love it on me. I wish I could have gotten a picture of his face when he sniffed my wrist.

The notes are so well blended and I can't stop smelling my own wrist!

Oh yeah, this is a gorgeous scent and I love that it celebrates such a good memory for the King and Queen of BPAL! Happy anniversary you guys!!!

  7. This is lovely! I was scared because I thought it would smell dirty and mucky like a swamp... but in reality it is a gorgeous aquatic with clean green notes. There is a bit of a dark dirt note, but it is embedded very deep in the scent as a base, and the other notes swim around it giving it a brighter feel. There is a bit of a floral note that adds to the "clean" feel and adds just the sharpness this scent needs to make it so well balanced. I actually think it has a bit of an elegant feel and I'd love for my living room to smell like this all the time! Wish it was available to purchase!

  8. LOLI.GOTH

    In Bottle: Sweet pink candy

On Skin: Nom nom nom... I want to eat my wrist. This is so feminine, pink and mouthwatering sweet!!! This is a candy scent for sure... these notes aren't "fresh fruit" but more their candy equivalent. The strawberry is much stronger than the peach... but they dance beautifully together. The pink musk note gives it depth and a soft velvet feel while the green note cuts through the scent keeping it from being too cutesy or cloying. The wood also gives it more dimension and stability. The iris gives it a very light perfumey quality which again keeps it from being too sweet. This is one of my favorites from the collection and bottle art is drop dead ADORABLE!! Makes me miss making me EGL outfits and head pieces. The scent does fade pretty quick so it looks like I'll be slathering and reapplying often. I will make a small spray of this too. Beth hit it out of the park for this years Bat's Day scents. Thank you Beth!!!! Light to moderate throw, short wear length.

  9. GEEK.GOTH

    In Bottle: Sprite

On Skin: I feel like I just opened a can of Sprite or Slice. it's that very fresh effervescent lemon lime soda... i can almost feel the little bubbles popping out and hitting my face. It's not a flat soda at all... I am an uber geek, so I had to have this scent on principal alone. It is quite the novelty, but also yummy and bright. I like that it wakes me up with the sweet yet sour citrus notes that are quite playful. It's a nice scent for a warm day since it is cool and refreshing. The effervescent feeling is so extreme and it actually stays that way for a long while.... i thought it would fade but the staying power of this scent is quite impressive! Strong throw and and long wearlength.

  10. RIVETGOTH

    In Bottle: Pure leather

On Skin: Drop dead sexy leather. Oiled leather... nice and supple. I remember using a wax on my leather coat to keep it soft and pliable and that's what this reminds me of... caressing the oils into the leather... warm and soft. It also reminds me of my husband because I make him wear almost every leather scent I find. This is very manly and over the top sexy. Whip is one of my least favorite scents because to me it smells like a sweaty, smoky, never been washed leather coat... whereas RivetGoth smells like a man in a nice expensive leather coat in a peacoat style. Sophisticated and clean and uber-man. This is going to become a comfort scent for me for when my husband is out of town and I want to feel like I'm in his arms. It absolutely swaddles me. Very strong throw and long enduring wearlength.

  11. VICTORIANGOTH

    In Bottle: Rose and violet

On Skin: The rose jumps out in this, as it always does on me. Not sure why rose has always hated me... but I am hoping the violet will calm it here because I love the Victorian Goth genre and the label art is adorable! But... florals are hard for me to wear... and the rose and lavender continue to amp. The herbal notes are very green and do cut through the florals every once in a while for a nice change of pace. I also smell a bit of the beautiful purple lilac and the soft violet leaf as they weave in and out. All in all though, it's a pretty sharp scent on me and is very powdery. Like most rose scents it feels a little bit like something my mother or grandmother would wear. I prefer to smell scents like this on them, not me. But I wouldn't mind using it as a room scent. :) Very strong throw and long wear length.

  12. Romantigoth

    In Bottle: Incense

On Skin: Wow, this is much smokier than I imagined. It also has a very tart edge to it... I thought the plum would sweeten it, but the plum doesn't really come forward on me sadly. This scent is "Super Resin" and absolutely very "Goth". I actually grew up as a "deathrocker" (we didn't call it goth back then... lol!) and this reminds me of the perfumes and scents I smelled everywhere around me back then. The opium is gorgeous and deep, exotic and hypnotizing. I can see all the velvet, lace and long silver necklaces we wore back then... and especially our infamous bat buckle boots. Gah! the memories! Yes, this one will be in my rotation, especially since I've been feeling sentimental for those days lately. Strong throw and a long wearlength.

  13. GOTHABILLY

    In bottle: Sweet musky cherry

On Skin: Egyptian musk is one of my alltime favorite notes so I instantly wanted this scent... but I was a bit worried since cherry amps like crazy on me. It's no exception here but I like it. It's not like fresh cherries or anything potent... it's sweetened by the vanilla and seems very candied. I was reminded instantly of this cherry lip balm I had as a little girl, and sure enough as it develops on my skin, it keeps that semi waxy note and makes me think of dress up. Very young and very innocent... The liquor and musk notes give it depth and a slight tint of darkness. While cherry scents are not normally my thing, I'll keep this one for times I'm feeling girly and cutesy. It's so fun!!! Moderate throw and long wearlength.

  14. TRINKET (Yule stocking stuffer scent)

    In bottle: Honey velvet

On Skin: Ok... i don't get even a hint of cherry. I smell sweet honey layered over velvet. It is gorgeous!!!! I want a gallon!!! The velvet is a little woody and I get a bit of teak from it. That nice soft wood that is my favorite wood note by far. So... did my label get swapped with a different scent? This is one of the most beautiful BPAL scents I've ever smelled. It is so comforting and warm... absolute perfection. Honestly... I wish this was a scent we could buy. It has low to moderate throw and average wearlength. A FABULOUS gift from the Lab, thank you so much!!

  15. TCOTCHKIE (Yule stocking stuffer scent)

In bottle: Dried fruit and spices

On Skin: This starts out very mentholy on me, so I can see the Vik's reference... but it only stays that way for a bit. After a little while, a woody note surfaces. it becomes stronger as it settles into my skin. I get a nice warmth from this scent too. The menthol is still there, but it's not very strong, just a background note. There is also a sweet scent in there... something soft and velvety. A pretty scent, but the menthol note is the only part i don't like. It has a moderate throw and average wearlength. A very sweet gift from the lab... thank you!!

  16. In Bottle: Cold flowers

On Skin: This scent has a beautiful pale icey feel... I can see icicles melting and dripping onto the mums... I can smell the greens and the sweet buds and a very light note of soil. It is such a dainty and fragile scent. While it is icey and cold, I also can feel the warmth of the rays of sun that are bravely fighting through the cold winter. I am not a person who wears florals, but I think this is absolutely lovely and would love to smell it on someone else. Very light throw and short to medium wearlength.

  17. MOTHER SHUB'S PFANCY PFEFFERNEUSSE:

    Yule Limited Edition 2009

    In Bottle: Nuts and dirt

On Skin: Ok, for some reason my nose is not liking the pepper nuts in this one, it takes on a very dusty note. The spices are there, but much more in the background, the only one that stands out on it's own is the nutmeg. When I inhale deeply I feel like sneezing... very dry and dusty. I can sense a sort of cookie note in there, but for the most part it is dry dusty spices and I don't get any sweetness at all. This scent doesn't do it for me sadly. The throw is very strong and the wearlength is long.

  18. MOTHER SHUB'S TOOTHSOME BANKETSTAAF: Yule Limited Edition 2009

In Bottle: Pastry and warm fruit

On Skin: If a scent was edible, I wish it was this one. It smells so delicious!!!!!! Like fresh pastries straight from the oven... still warm, sticky and oozey. The apricot jam is my favorite, I actually feel my mouth watering for it. The pastry smells buttery and flaky... ready for me to take a bite. This would be the PERFECT room scent to make your home feel comforting and warm. It's not really a scent I'd wear, because it just makes me very, very hungry. Moderate throw, medium to long wearlength.

  19. SNOWBALL FRACAS: Limited Edition Yule 2009

    In Bottle: Dirt and aquatic

On Skin: The classic BPAL dirt note comes to the foreground right away... it's the same dirt note from Zombie and Graveyard Dirt. Surrounding it is a fresh aquatic note, very clean and crisp. I expected the note to be more cold in feel, maybe a mint or something... but I don't get that at all. It's a gorgeous scent, but it doesn't feel Wintery to me. It's more fresh and Spring like if anything... with the smell of rain and dirt. Even though there is a dirt note, it feels clean... very refreshing and crisp. It has a moderate throw and medium to long wearlength.

  20. BLUE PHOENIX (prototype)

    In Bottle: Blueberry yum!

On Skin: At first it smells like my Blueberry Strawberry shortcake doll I had when I was little. Then then within seconds sadly, this scent that everyone loves goes pretty darn bad on me. It goes almost pure menthol plastic. What in the world? The yummy fresh blueberry turns to Halls coughdrops if they had a blueberry flavor! My husband wouldn't sit next to me, he said I smelled like chemicals. I adore BPAL so much, I hate to give a less than favorable review on any scent, but this one just doesn't like me. Nothing we can really do about that... oh well, guess it can go to a better home.

Super strong throw and moderate wearlength.

  21. O v5 (prototype)

    In Bottle: Boozy honey (yum!)

On Skin: This honey is SWEET. It is full of yum and deep rich sticky honey love. At first it stays true honey, almost like Honey SN... then it becomes more diverse. There is a slight fruitiness to it, almost like Lotus. I love sweet scents so this one seems like a keeper. But after about 5 minutes, it fades lightning fast. It also becomes a bit artificial smelling. But it does smell more similar to O than v6 does. It's not as elegant, it more playful and candylike. The amber is very light, adding a delicate powdery layer, but the sticky sweetness keeps it from becoming to dry and dusty like v6. It also is missing the perfumey edge that the released O has and I think that takes away from the elegance. I still love this scent, and it's fun to smell what O *could* have been. But I wouldn't trade it for my dear GC O...

Throw is light to moderate, and although it fades super quick, the lingering scent that does remain lasts quite a while.

  22. O v6 (prototype)

In Bottle: Sweet honey and powder

On Skin: This honey is much more sweet than the regular O. O is my trademark BPAL scent that I wear more than anything. it gives a feeling of confidence and beauty. But... then this version quickly goes to powder on me... and the dreaded pencil shaving stage. No!!! I was so excited for it from the bottle, but on my skin it loses it's sweet stickiness and becomes very dry and almost pure powder.

I think the amber just takes over, and normally amber works on me, but here it's having an odd reaction to my chemistry.

It does have a warm side and I do sense a very faint light spice in the background. I agree with fairynymph that it may be carnation (or geranium), but I think it is so slight it's almost not there. You have to really search for it.

After an hours wear there is still some sweetness, but for the most part it is dry and dusty. Not at all the way the normal O smells on me. I would say it smells slot more like Sed Non Satiata if I had to compare it...

After that hour if fades very quickly. The throw on the scent is very light and I would say it has a short wearlength.

  23. NAGARJUNA: No description (prototype)

    In Bottle: Subtle resins

On Skin: Wow, this scent is so soft and pretty! It is like a very fine pile vintage velvet, so delicate and feminine. I get a soft skin musk, and a clean note, maybe sandalwood? Also possibly white musk. Now I'm thinking there might be teak in here, the wood is so soft and yummy and that's how teak is on me. Yes this has a subtle Glowing Vulva feel to it, just not as sweet and creamy. This is a cleaner muskier Glowing Vulva if I had to call it. I am sooooooo happy I have a bottle of this as I plan to wear it alot. I could also even see a man wearing this since the clean soapy note suits both sexes. As the scent dries down, the teak note starts to vanish and the soap note becomes stronger. It still has a sweet base so I love it, but it doesn't resemble GV anymore. Still, it is beyond lovely. It has a light to moderate throw and long wearlength.

  24. BLACK BUTTERFLY MOON

    In Bottle: Dark florals

On Skin: This is quite pretty.... it does have a butterfly feel to it. I grew up in the mountains and one of my favorite memories was running through the flowers watching the butterflies. Because of my love of butterflies, my husband and I went on our first dates at the Butterfly Pavillion here in Colorado, and even ended up getting married there. So butterflies have a huge importance to me. This scent has the innocence and beauty of a butterfly. The darkness comes from the night blooms and cooler tones in the scent. It seems in the same family as Black Moon and Bat Woman. The florals are very well blended but I can pick out the orchid and lily which are 2 of my favorite flowers. After a few minutes I can also smell the sweet creaminess of the gardenia. The resins help the "dark" feel, and the moss gives a slightly aquatic tone. This scent is so very feminine and pretty, I would wear this scent when I wanted to feel more dressy or girly... not really a scent I'd wear at the clubs. Overall, gorgeous and fits the description perfectly. Light to moderate throw and short to average wearlength.

  25. BITE ME: Halloweenie 2009

    In Bottle: Cream and cherries

On Skin: I smell the cherry-like almond note right away. That pure sweet almond extract. There is also a rose like note, very floral. I say rose because it's slightly sour and that's how rose is on me. As the scent develops I smell a light cakey note from the croquembouche, but it's not heavy like I expected it to be. I can't really pick out the caramel, and the caramel note the Lab uses usually really amps on me, so this is a shock. I expected this scent to be pure caramel on me. But it's a nice shock, I really like how it's sweet yet also perfumey. It's a very pretty scent without being overly foody like the description would lead you to believe. The floral feels pink and the sweetness is a brownish red. Overall, an interesting scent. Moderate throw and long wearlength.
