    Butter Rum Cookie

Almond kills everything for me. Doesnt matter how far down in notes it is, my nose recoils at it. And it seems to be all i can smell when i open the imp. I def get more of the cookie smell upon application, its more sweet, i can smell the sugar and its a little boozy.. But sniffing before application always has me setting this imp aside. EDIT: I was about to put this in my sales pile, but second thoughts have me keeping it. Theres hope yet!

    The Winter of Our Discontent

I just rediscovered this imp - and promptly spilt it all over myself. -.- Too bad as i think i kinda like it, its the wood/pine forest i get upon first spill was quite strong but mellows quickly to be quite comforting. It seems to completely avoids smelling like air freshner, like most of the assorted woods smells do to me. The darker notes do tone it down, i can smell the balsam and myrrh.. Though minutes after spilling the imp, ive only got a light scent hanging about. Go figure.

    The Black Temple Burlesque Troupe

Im not good at in depth note-picking, i usually end up associating with other scents i do/not like. This i do like. I like it better in the vial, as once i put it on it just turns chocolatey. It's absolutely lovely, when first applying it the word that came to mind was lucious. Dark and scintillating. Once it dry's on me it just smells like Boomslang, but a little sweeter.. Like a chocolate flavoured candy.

    El Dia de los Reyes

I dont know.. Me and Bpal chocolate just dont get along. I adore quality chocolate, but i'm not really a fan of the cocoa smell. I suppose my brain just associates the smell with something i eat, not wear. Having said that, it smells just like everyone says.. like hot cocoa, like something strong in chocolate flavour baking.

    Mother Shub's Pfancy Pfefferneusse

I wanted to love this, having German heritage.. but it makes my nose itch! It's spicy and sweet, but i have to put my nose close to my wrist to be able to smell the goodness and then my nose twitches, lol. Worth a try if your into foody scents.. Fun and definitely great for this time of year, but i'll stick to my decant. ^^

    Fearful Pleasure

I had such high hopes for this based on reviews, but it was not to be. My first experience with it was on a blistering hot day, pores nice and open, and i didn't think anything of putting it on the crook of my arm. (Multiple testing ftw!) It didn't react that badly, but it did nd up making my skin red and after a few minutes, having to be washed off. The second time i tested it, it turned my nose. There's this festering, fermenting apple smell, that just smells icky. After a while it settles down into a slightly spicy & warm apple smell, but something is still very off with this on me..

    Galvanic Goggles

I recieved this as a frimp, and upon opening it for the first time, i recoiled as it assaulted my sense of smell. Then i sniffed it again,.. It kept calling me back, until i dared to do a skin test. And you know what? I can't stop smelling it. It's almost addictive.. I think i'm amping the balsam like crazy. After a little while, i get what must be the metallic notes, something cold and clean, i can sense the musk, and the heady balsam is receding. Really, i don't see myself wearing this alot.. But it's going to be awesome to come back to every now and again.

    Chant D'Automne

This one doesn't work for me.. At first it's very it's very strong, and as others have said, bitter. The nicotiana and charred wood notes are the strongest while wet, kind of like being next to a fire and getting a face full of smoke. Once it dries down it's much more mellow, the bitterness remains, but looking at the notes again it's more about the dried leaves and charred wood. So in a way i suppose it's a realistic evolution for the scent to make. It starts off with the sharpness of a newborn fire, the heady smoke as it catches, and the earthy smell of the charred wood and matter as it smoulders.

    No. 93 Engine

I don't know what most of the notes in No.93 smell like on their own, so it's a bit hard for me to pick out singular notes on my skin. Having said that, it is quite evocative. When first applied, it reminds me of walking through an old workshop, but not in a horrible dusty way.. more that you can smell the fresh cut woods and oils. As it dries it i think i can pick more of the frankincense. For some reason i find this comforting, a scent you would wear to bed when ill, to clear your head. But that could just be me.

    What Scent Is This?

I can't give a definite answer, but i have 2 Oblivion imps.. One is a very very old one that i got in a sale. This one is a thick, dark green oil and very stong smelling. The second was a frimp from the lab , that i recieved a few months ago at the most. This seems the same as the light-yellow colour you describe... As for the smell, i know i preferred the newer one. But i have a cold so can't test them atm sorry! Perhaps aging has something to do with it.. Only other thing i can think of is that perhaps the blend has been slightly altered. I was a little suprised when i saw the new Oblivion too.

What do bottles and labels look like?

You can see them here: Hessian of the Hollow

    Lyonesse

As someone else said, this is like a more subtle Eat Me. It's not as musky on my skin as in the vial, but i'm not complaining! I'm not too familiar with a few of the note's.. like the ambergis and sea moss but i suspect they, along with the lily keep this from being too heavy. I'm quite suprised that the lily stayed in the background. On the dry down, i'm getting more of the aquatic notes. Verdict: This didn't stay around long enough for me to either like or dislike it.

    Manila

In the vial, this reminds me of when i've been cooking and had to mash up some bananas. I don't know what any of the other ingredients are supposed to smell like though. At first on my skin, Manila smell's like that small hard banana-shaped candy. Pretty soon it morphs though... and i can't really pinpoint what it smells like, with my unsophisticated nose. It definitely moves onto a more tropical light jungle scent, i get a sense of what must be the blossom's, and the banana had pretty much disappeared. Overall, as more of a dark, spice girl.. this one just isn't for me. But hey, it's worth trying everything once.

    Queen Alice

I was randomly sifting through my imp box today, and decided to give Queen Alice a go.. I had forgotten what the notes were supposed to be. Sniffing the vial i got mostly cider. Once on, it became so heady.. the depth of the treacle mixed with cider. We're brewing cider here, the proper warmed, spiced kind. But down the table someone knocked their glass of red over. As it dries, the carnations peek out, making the blend a little lighter. This is going to be a new love for me.

    Meadow scents!

You should definitely check out A Blade Of Grass, I haven't sniffed it myself, but all the reviews for it have raved about it being quite like fresh, green grass with touches of autumn leaves. The reviews are here: A Blade Of Grass It's worth checking out that one, as it's a Halloweenie it'll only be around till November 15th. Hope this helps!

    Eshe, A Vision of Life-In-Death (2006)

Eshe.. She's exactly as described. In the bottle: Light myrrh and embalming herbs Wet: I get a hint of the jasmine and sandalwood, though it dries down pretty quickly on me. Dry: I don't think i'm a big fan of myrrh, cause here it is again, though this time it's playing with orchid. Not that i noted times after dry down, but this morphs on me quite a bit. After about 5 mins, i get the really dry, bookish qualities. But then wait,. it's sweet and floral? Maybe a half hour later it's almost faded, but it's a interesting balance between the florals and myrrh. Very glad i got to try Eshe, and the wonderful Queen Mab sent me an empty bottle that wasn't quite empty along with my decant, lol. So this won't be a big bottle purchase for me, but i'll definitely enjoy the half bottle i have now.

    Arachnina, The Spider Girl (2006)

In an effort to try more CD scents before they disappear, Arachina was one i grabbed in a decant circle. In the vial: I don't actually get much of a scent, but what i can catch seems to be mostly the musk and patchouli. Wet: Head spin! The description swirling, hypnotic is definitely accurate. I get poppies, then next breath, musks & the patchouli is nicely tempered. Dry: As it dries, i can smell the black currents, but they're earthed by the patchouli. Overall, this is a strange one for me.. but i think i like it. Might test a few more times before deciding on a bottle though.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Oh my,.. thank you for posting those. I just knew Fearful Pleasure would have a great label, now i'm even more excited! Is anyone else so heavily influenced by label art when making their purchases? ETA: The black and white, with touches of orange is great! I keep going back to look at the A Blade of Grass label, it really catches my eye.

    El Amor y la Muerte

Firstly, i was hesitant to even post a review, as the imp i received of this isn't in ideal condition. So i wouldn't put too much stock in my post as a 'review'. I just wanted to share my experience with this oil. I'm not too good with the properties of the ingredients that went into this blend, but something has caused the oil to split. In the vial, while separated, it just smells like a generic old-fashioned cologne. If mixed back together, it improves a little, i can smell the clove that people have mentioned, and a little rose on drydown.. But really it still makes my nose itch.. like a cheap department store cologne. This won't be getting passed on, i think it's better off in imp heaven.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Yay! about the cobalt bottle, it'll be my first too. And i love the artwork, i can't wait to see what the others in the book look like.

    Spellbound

I got this as a frimp, and having read the description, was looking forward to trying it. In the bottle it didnt seem too bad, flowery and feminine.. which isnt my thing, but i tried it anyway... Omg, i smell like potpourri. This had strong throw and wearlength.. which was not very good in this case. It reminds me of when you've had a dish of potpourri around for so long it's collected dust,.. if you stirred it up, that's what i'm smelling. Overall i think if you don't like rose, stay away. But if you do, definitely worth a try.

    Tamamo-no-Mae

This was my first blind-bottle purchase, and i wasn't disappointed. I'm very glad that i ignored the fact that i don't know what half of the ingredients smell like, but i didn't need to. It's positively beautiful. In the bottle, it's light and fruity. Wet, i can smell the white tea, but the musk starts to creep out on the dry down. Every stage of this is gorgeous on my skin, plenty of body without being at all heavy. As someone who usually prefers dark scents, this was a pleasant surprise.
