    Dia de los Muertos

I still have half a bottle of the 2004 vintage and it is one of my favorite bpal's ever. But I held off on the 2005 version till I could verify it was the same. Much to my dissatisfaction, I got a whiff of the 2005 DDLM and it was all florals. I like florals but the unique beauty of the original is the first aroma of tobacco, then chocolate, then incense and finally rounded out with florals. Now I shall sparingly use my 2004 version and wait if a future version will be similar.

    Milk Moon 2005

At first application, the wet Milk Moon reminded me of "Junior Mints", kinda creamy-cool-minty. When it dried, I got more coconut popping through. By the time it settled on my skin, it smelled like fresh coconut milk with the barest hint of mint for many hours. A perfect summer scent!

    Pink Moon 2005

I get a slightly sweet, hint of soft floral, a touch of powder & a bit of booziness (champagne-like) from my bottle of Pink Moon. It lasted over 12 hours on me. Great scent for summer! I am enjoying it very much.

    O

Well, I don't "get" the sex aroma. But I do get a sweet, light aroma grounded in amber. I think that my body temp runs a bit colder than normal, hence, the lack of "muskiness" expressed that everyone talks about. I, personally like O as an everyday fresh-type scent. (I know I am weird!)

    Centzon Totochtin

Definitely a blend of bittersweet chocolate, dragonsblood resin & boooziness in the bottle and on me. No sweet notes detectable. It is a "dry" scent as someone else pointed out and lasts all day long. I found that it did not go through too many changes like many of the LE's that I have tried-pretty true from start to finish. I enjoyed this very much and will probably pick up a big bottle.
  6. After Christmas dinner yesterday, I introduced my sister to BPAL. She immediately fell in love an wanted to trot off with all my precious bottles but really want Dia de los Muertos. Do you have any recommendations for a regularly available scent in the same vein? Incensy, floral, slightly sweet? I want to hook her up with a similar scent and order her a wolf moon le tonight. Thanks! Michaeline (Doing my job to get as many people addicted to BPAL as possible!)

    Jabberwocky

Mostly everybody has summed up Jabberwocky: a pine, eucalyptus blast with a touch of sweetness from citrus. The only thing I can add, I smell a bit of cedarwood. I really, really do! I also did not last very long. The scent was gone within an hour. A nice scent for what it is but I don't think I will go for a bottle of it.

    The Unicorn

Unicorn's aroma was quite unexpected. In the bottle: I first got a whiff of peach, then white florals then *CK's Escape*. I used to love *Escape* back in the early 90's but it eventually developed into a heavy, nauseating scent with repeated use. I was hesitant but pleased. On me wet: Now it was mostly sweet peach & *Escape* but not as heavy as the real *Escape*, so no pangs of nausea. Yea! On me dry: White florals & *Escape* After 2 hours: almost gone This is a very light, fast fading perfume that I would have to reapply on a continual basis. Good spring/early summer scent. Don't know if I will commit to a bottle, I like The Unicorn, I just don't love it.

    Samhain

I work with patchouli alot while soapmaking but I *ahem* really do not like it. Though most of my patchouli soaps are super popular, it still reminds me of dirty hippie bo everytime I work with it. But Samhain makes me like patchouli, a little. In the bottle, I smell patchouli & spice. On me wet, I smell pumpkin spice & patchouli. On me dry, I smell apple cider, pumpkin spice, candy corn & a bit of oakmoss-maybe? It does have a warming sensation on the skin due to probably a high spice oil content. Now I cannot keep from sniffing my wrists as I type! YUM! Overall, I am really enjoying almost all of BPAL's autumn scents. I am so in love!

    Sugar Skull

Ew! Icky! Yuck! I could not even apply it to my skin. It smells *exactly* like a bottle of brown sugar & spice fragrance oil that I have sitting on the shelf. I made just tons of brown sugar scrub last year and kinda OD'ed on the scent. Sugar Skull really is lovely for what it is (maple-y, brown sugar with clove) but brings me terrible flashbacks. Edited to add: My decanted imp from Fairywingmaker (Thank You for sharing!) has been swapped.

    Dia de los Muertos

I love this scent! It smells quite complex yet soothing. Both in the bottle it and on me it has the same aroma; candy-sweet, spicy, smokey and with a hint of floral incense. It smells like a really nice candy shop. Not heavy or cloying in any way. Did I say I love it!

    Gluttony

Gluttony in the bottle is way to strong for me. It was just overwhelming, cloying sweetness. So I diluted it (80% perfume oil : 20% jojoba) in order to open it up and see if the other notes could come through. After diluting, I smelled lots of sugar & coffee, slightly burnt. On me wet: The burnt/bitter smell went away and it was a sugar-y,alcoholic-y, vanilla-y aroma. Reminds me of baking vanilla extract. On me dry: Still the vanilla extract but with a bit more toffee. No chocolate though . After an hour on me: Mellowed out quite a bit. Still very sweet with a hint of vanilla & toffee. I still get whiffs of alcohol (definitely the hops) on occasion. Very pleasant sweetness good for cool weather days. I am going to mix this with some other other oils. I think it will make a nice base scent. I will probably do vanilla, chocolate absolute, hazelnut coffee and a lemon sugar. All separate of course!

    All Saints'

Based on a venerable French pontifical incense blend: monastic frankincense and myrrh, Damascus rose, Russian gardenia, cassia, and lily of the valley wafting on a chill Autumn wind. A celebration of the glory and suffering of the saints and matryrs of the Church. Thanks to Bernadette aka"fairywingmaker" for my imp!!!!! She is a wonderful person to deal with! In the Bottle: A rich & sweet, slightly buttery aroma. On me wet: Definitely frank & myrrh (sweet & smokey) with white florals. No foody smell whatsoever. On me dry: The white florals come out more with a very slight powdery edge upon first whiff and the frank & myrrh pops out on second whiffs. I love it! Perfect winter/cold weather scent. Now off to search for a bottle!!!!! Edited to add: I have a bottle and am indulging in this wonderful scent!

    Harvest Moon 2004

My first review of my first bpal! I received my first introductory scent from Nichole: SilverAngel. Thank you!!!!! In the bottle: I smell apple cider & flowers, slightly spiced, slightly buttery and a little sweetness. On me wet: The florals came out really strong as a high note. The middle note was more fruity with sage and the low note was smokey. On me dry: Very spicey apple cider with smokey sage undertones. My skin runs very cold, so the scent is quite subtle and very pleasant. I am also very pleasantly surprised that I am not getting a perfume-headache (I am usually very sensitive to most perfumes). Great fall scent!
