    Bordello

Another one I loved the thought of loving, and boy, has it come through for me. This is everything I imagined 'O' to be, rich and warm and deep, with enough of a ripe burgundy fruitiness which, in place of O's amber, really cements it as a 'me' scent. (I'm finding that I tend to do better with the slightly fruit-tinted scents.) Bordello has amazed me with the syrupy cling that isn't overly sweet or cloying, but very heavy to the smell in a dark, seductive, sexy kind of way. This is something I'd wear out dancing when I knew I'd have the chance to get up close to someone I wanted to notice me, because there is simply no way I can see this scent being resisted. It screams 'come over here, I'm absolutely delicious'. Red and deep fruity initially, it dries out to a rich, bright-sweet plummy juicy fruit tempered by enough winey spice to keep it from being sugar syrup. I want to eat my wrist.

    Titania

I thought this would be an interesting one to check out, since before BPAL I've been wearing fruity type body spray smells, and was interested to see how fruit-based scents came across in perfume oil form. The results with Titania? Love. So sweet and juicy, but girly and soft at the same time. This is like my Victoria's Secret pear glace' body spray, only all grown up and much much more 'expensive' smelling. I love it. Definite keeper, for the days I need a sweet, romantic smell. Sigh. So good. I'm ordering a big bottle as soon as I get my next outstanding order. As someone very leery of floral smells, Titania is just enough floral to be new and refreshing, but sweet and fruity enough to not truly be 'floral' on me - in fact, I can hardly tell it's there, but I know it is, and it does something special to tone down the super-fruitness.

    Fae

Oh, I wanted this, as fruity scents are what I normally wear and peach is a recent love in both flavor and smell form. Unfortunately in reality Fae just didn't work for me - in the vial, it's an interesting sort of zingy, musky fruity sweet, and I couldn't detect any obvious 'peach' smell (you know that jolly-rancher, artificial peach smell? I think that's what I expected), but on my skin it immediately turned into Love's Baby Soft, a scent I used to wear when I was just starting to be old enough to wonder about perfume, and not one I really particularly like anymore. Alas! Given a few hours it never recovered from the babypowdering. Argh, stupid body chemistry!

    Swank

Sharp! Zesty! Kind of lemony! Sweetness with a bite. This one started fresh, but even several hours later there is a crisp zing to the smell that seems to keep going strong - perhaps the pomegranate? The citrusy tang to it might make this something I can't wear too much... however it does smell very much like something you'd sniff or put in an oil diffuser for a mood-lifter. While the scent is certainly interesting it's not one I feel comfortable smelling on /myself/ every day, so since I've still got a list about 50 long of scents to try, this one is going on the swaplist.

    O

O was surprisingly 'heavy' and heady on my skin. Extremely amber on me, which while it does make for a really rich scent, just didn't fit me very well, I think. The heaviness of it has faded in the 30-40 minutes or so that I've had it on, and while it's still a definite amber scent, has kind of mellowed to a touch of vanilla. I'm not entirely sold on it yet, the amber makes me leery, so will defintely have to get another opinion - and if I'm going to wear it, put it on half an hour early, as I don't think the initial smell works well with my chemistry. ** Thoughts from later, as well as a 2nd application: It looks like O is going to get sent to a friend as a gift, as she's a fan of amber and musk notes in perfumes, and I'm absolutely willing to addict my friends as well. The second time I tried it there was a bit more honey-sugar sweetness all around, but I still can't quite adjust to the smell of amber on me, it just doesn't 'fit'.

    Neo-Tokyo

As the single most anticipated smell in my very first BPAL order ever, I really wanted to love this one so bad -- AND I DO! Sharp, green, mettalic, sweet cherry, it's all there, giving it a big zing initially which melts into a lovely metal-chill cherry flower (but not 'floral') scent that is both clean and sweet and fresh and very, very DIFFERENT. I feel like anime when I smell this. It's awesome, light and unobtrusive and nothing like the perfumes I've smelled before - the cherry blossom is unique in a way that makes me want it as a 'signature' smell, and I'll definitely be ordering a big bottle. It strikes me as very much a nighttime-in-the-city neon lights and concrete smell, something to wear out in wintertime wanderings downtown.
