Only two people live in this house. I'm confident that, if the pets could get food out of the refrigerator or pantry, they would not use plates and cutlery. So how is it possible that the dishwasher _always_ needs to be emptied?

So, having interviewed all the candidates for my old job, I can definitively say I really AM all that.

Mr. Loki reportedly had a good night in the hospital. He's sore and woozy, but had some breakfast and should be discharged later this afternoon.

Oncology tech: "I don't think this dog is really a Schipperke. He's way too agreeable. I think he's a Golden Retriever in a Schipperke suit."

I just put up my pictures of my beloved dead for Samhain, and Puck is one of them. There was no sign that anything was wrong at all just Tuesday night. And it's very possible that Loki and Delilah will be up there next year as well. Life is short, especially for our animal companions - give your fur kids a hug.

...and now, a rock chip/crack that will require replacing the windshield on Spencer's car. I'm normally a pretty sunny person, but I'm getting cranky at the universe.

This has been a very sad week with the very sudden and unexpected loss of sweet, ornery Puck. We'll be back at the vet in an hour for follow up with Loki. Fingers crossed really, really hard that his 'tumor' was just an abscess and that he's back to being a healthy little guy.

So, no power here in Kenton. It's very quiet and dark, lit only by the flickering of candles and the glow of e-readers.

Loki update: Poor fella has a very large and painful abscess and infection. It is _possible_ that the 'tumor' is tissue distended because of the abscess. We have to treat the infection for a week before we can risk putting him under to biopsy the suspicious tissue. We didn't get a definitive diagnosis of adenocarcinoma based on the initial diagnostics, which we are very grateful for. However, he's not out of the woods yet.

What I will generously call a 2.5 hour 'self guided tour' of downtown Atlanta + poor shoe choice = begging the concierge for band-aids this morning.

Breakfast in order to fortify for a day of Comic Con. First stop to see Jason Behnke and his amazing art. It's incredibly cool. And sometimes creepy. But always cool.

I'm going to have to train Merlin in agility, just because I want the excuse to have a magnet on my car that says, "Agility dogs get over it."Damnit! I don't have a car!

My Colorado friends and family - I have been truly amazed and distressed by all the images of the flooding along the Front Range. I've also been touched by how much people are helping one another out, volunteering, and spreading the word. Please know that you have someone in Oregon thinking of you with love and concern.

So, how long, exactly, does an "intermittent bridge lift" last? We've been here 25 minutes so far, and people are starting to honk. 'Cause that will _surely_ help.

Very enjoyable final day of vacation. I had a lovely time with friends at the "First Annual" Oregon Renaissance Festival". Now (to paraphrase my friend David) it's time to pick the peanuts out of my cleavage.
