    The Perfect Lavender

I'm deviating from the lavender a bit, but here's some blends that fit the smokey floral idea: L'Heure Verte: Spilled absinthe, scorched sugar cubes, opium smoke, lilac blossoms, and rose water Gaueko: Blackened sandalwood and misty lavender, with curling wisps of smoky tobacco, nag champa, and labdanum Oneiroi: a somnambular blend of deep lavender, white sandalwood, jasmine, bergamot and mugwort. Shadow Witch Orchid: This perfume is a dusky orchid, subdued and ethereal.

    Geranium!

I'm not much help, but I just wanted to say that I love geranium too, so I'm all ears!

    Honey and Beeswax scents

You might try Jezebel. It is totally honey on me, but not foodly at all.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

Reviving this thread because I am obsessed with beeswax lately. Engine 93 and Ichabod Crane are fab, any other new ones that fit the bill?

I second this! I've been wearing a ton of Scarecrow!

    Morning Sickness

My pregnant friend swears by citrus scents. Maybe Zephyr?
  8. You've got to try Cloister Graveyard in the Snow!

I"m looking for a scent like a ripe cornfield.

I know what you're talking about (Hello, grew up in Indiana!) but haven't found anything exactly like it. Scarecrow is close, without the sweet note. It's very nice.

    The Snow Storm

This smells very wet when I first apply, like melting snow or icicles. As it dries down the evergreen comes out. It makes me think of evergreen needles dripping with water as the sun comes out and begins to melt the ice. It's really beautiful.

    The Shivering Boy

In the bottle, this reminds me of Death of the Gravedigger. I put it on and it is sharp wine with a slushy undertone. As it dries down, the resins and wine create a sweet, fruity scent that is heightened by the snow note. Very complex.

    Herbes de Provence?

Pontarlier reminds me of Herbes de Provence.

Recommend the most herbal scents, please

I'm a big fan of Pontarlier for herbal.
  14. If you like sharp and sweet, you might like Knave of Hearts or Poisoned Apple. New Orleans is heavy on the honeysuckle so that might be good.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Wow, Rose Moon is gorgeous! Thanks for the link!

What do bottles and labels look like?

I agree. I do not think that the snake image is being "used to sell perfume". Many of those who purchased the purfume did so with no knowledge or care as to what the label would look like. I think it would be absolutely fine to forgo the snake images (and headaches). It's what's inside that counts.
  17. Has anyone smelled a BPAL that is similar to L'artisan Parfumeur's La Chasse Aux Papillons? How about Mure et Musc? Thanks!

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Oh, no no no, not at all! I'm really glad you pointed this out, as I hadn't seen it!

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Huh. I never thought that supplementing BPAL recommendations with something else that someone might enjoy would be inappropriate. Thanks for cluing me in. Sometimes I have trouble compartmentalizing my thoughts as much as it is necessary on this board. I'll try to be more careful.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

Just seconding some previous suggestions-definitely Lightning, Tempest and Jolly Roger. Also, Penthus is a sort of New England garden by the sea scent. For non-BPAL, Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Motu is dead-on ocean.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

It sounds like Jacob's Ladder would be glorious. It's LE, but not that hard to track down.

    Springtime scents

Squirting Cucumber is very spring! Damp grass, watery green notes-just lovely!

    Poisoned Apple

I don't like smelling like fruit, but this had me at the name and concept. I was hoping it would be similar to the Poisoned Apple candle that BBW did this past fall. Of course, this is Beth we're talking about, so this is no dupe. It is crisper than the candle, with a more true apple scent. It smells like an evil apple. I wore it to a wedding and it felt great for that. Crisp and sparkly, but a little mischevious.

    Where is this scent?

Thanks! I really like it, so I'm glad to know it's GC!
